So after some convincing Phoebe sets her up with a blind date and only finds that she doesn't really know anything else about herself, she had previously been so obsessed with trying to gain the love of her beloved that she neglected herself. In the end she finds that she can't let Arnold go but even though she still and will probably always love him, it doesn't mean she has to be miserable for the entirety of her life. She decides that it's time for her to push off her 'fate', role as the school terror, and bully all to figure out who 'Helga Pataki' really is. (September 12, 2003 – September 14, 2003)

1 Day Job – Helga decides that it's about time to turn over a new leaf, not for Arnold but herself instead. She goes though out her day doing her best to be a better her, finding that it's not really who she feels she is, at least right now, as well as finding her fellow class mates expecting her to be a bully and upkeep her own reputation. After a run in with a few of her class mates she snaps and immediately is worse than she was before. Afterwards she completely regrets it and goes on about how she wishes she was required to be a bully. She decides to try again the next day, maybe today was just a really bad day for her to decide to change but ends up with basically the same result.

1 Helga and Hugo - Helga runs into a fourth grader that wants to fight with her. He does every trick in the book trying to get her to fight him but she continues to refuse, or easily fend him off. She gets him to pause and in exchange for her buying him a ice cream he will tell her why he wants to fight her so badly. He explains that no one at his school respects him the way he wants them too, and figures that if he can learn to be a bully or be able to defeat PS.118's legendary terror with the one eye brow that he will be the new king of the school. Helga things he's just joking and wanted to just be able to go back to school with a story, so she agrees but really doesn't teach him anything. The next day she decides to skip school feeling a bit guilty for having not really helped Hugo and finds herself at the edge of PS. 118. Recess gets out and Helga watches the kids tease and bully Hugo, eventually walking away from him after they hit him a few times leaving him with a bloody nose. Helga waits for him after school and confronts him, not beating around the bush. She says she's disappointed that he didn't try to fight back, but that she's going to teach him how to defend himself rather than being a bully. Helga starts really teaching him and after working with Helga for a week he feels confident to take on his bullies. Before he leaves he asks Helga, shyly, that if he has any more trouble if he can ask for her help again. Helga replies "Only if you can find me, and if you don't make it a habit for every little problem of yours." He hugs her and runs off before she can say anything else.

1 Late Night Fist Fight: Helga's having a really hard time trying to be nice. While she's doing her best she's found that instead she's just coming off as more mean then she had been. During this a few other students from other schools who don't think she's so tough start to give Helga a hard time, which soon escalates. Eventually Helga calls them out for a fight at the park late at night. Helga then battles with herself as she decided weather of not she really wants to show up, plus there's only one of her and three of them. Eventually she does go and gets her ass kicked but some how manages to fight them all, all the sports she's plaid paying off. She shows up at Phoebe's house and she helps with nursing Helga. While she is Helga rambles about what she's feeling to Phoebe. Instead of replying to what Helga says Phoebe tries to make her promises that she wont fight again, but Helga's just silent. Her and Phoebe have a talk which, though Helga doesn't promise, she at least agrees to try to do something else that wont result in her fighting. Even if Helga would win. Helga learns the lesson of taking care of herself.

1 Best in Show – The Art teacher is holding a Art gallery for all of her classes and somehow convinces Helga to submit some of her Art. She complies and find out after wards that a classmate of her's father was an art critic and would like to see more of her work. She starts to work with him and he pushes her to create as many painting as she can. She at first refuses, because she doesn't think her stuff is as good as he says. He convinces her by giving her money for each painting she gives him plus a percent of the money for when the painting sells. She agrees for the money and starts to work. After a month she's made and sold him about 5 paintings but none have sold yet and she starts to think that it's because her painting are just that bad. She begins to feel really down on herself, and gives up painting, even after talking with Mr. Brown. After a a few more weeks at being down on herself, due to the convincing of her teacher, she goes to another Art Gallery. She goes to see her paintings and to see what people are thinking of them. While there she finds the prices of her paintings are enormous and as she hangs by her paintings all night all she can hear are good feed back. At the end of the night she find Steve (The art critique) to ask him WHY her paintings haven't sold, and he explains that though many people have offered to buy them, he's been turning them down. This is because he feels he can get not only more for them than what he's asking for now and they keep bringing new people in because their interested in seeing what this 'Anonymous' painter has made that is just so beautiful and fantastic. Helga is completely speechless and leaves without saying goodbye to him. She immediately goes home and begins to paint again with an explosive passion. Helga starts to learn to have pride in her work.

1 BBF, Broken Best Friends – It's the middle of their first year as freshman and Phoebe and Helga are the best of buds as always. Being best friends Helga starts to worry for Phoebe as she starts to see Gerald's womanizing seeming tendencies. She starts to follow Gerald and takes notes on what he's doing. Soon she finds him with another girl and does what she can see as them kissing. Helga runs to Phoebe and tells her what she saw, explains what she's been doing and while doing so upsets Phoebe greatly. Phoebe in a rage of being upset that she not only would think Gerald would do such a thing but also not even asking Gerald or her about what might be going on. She continues to explains that Gerald's she tell Helga that they should no longer be friends if she wont respect her choices in the people she decides to trust. Helga is floored and leaves angrily saying she never needed Phoebe as a friend anyway. Later though Helga feels horrible for what she did and said she decides that she wont apologize because she was trying to do her a favor and not only that she's a Pataki and Pataki's are tough! She then decides to try to find a way to cope without her best friend.

1 Welding the Bonds of Trust – Helga's curiosity gets the best of her and she decides to take Welding a her second elective for the second semester of her freshmen year. After the first few weeks, once they've gotten over the saft materia and Helga passes their welding safety test with flying colors, she gets her first taste of melting metal, and loves it. One day Helga takes her locket out and sets it in her cubicle because she finds that it's heating up and burning her as she welds. However as she continues her work she accidentally heats up the clasp and melts it shut. When she realizes she's done this she freaks out and starts trying to find some way to fix it. She finds out vis her teacher that it can be fixed and he could have one of the older class mates do it, but it would have to be specially cut and re-welded, that or she could take it to a specialty shop. Helga decides on the later but once there she finds that it's a bit over her budget the moment. Even though she has sold a few painting, that money she finds isn't as much as she thought and it goes quick with her buying herself basic necessities everyday. Plus Bob's been refusing to give her as much lately, so Helga ends up forced to have to either let it be as is or trust someone else with her locket. She goes to her teachers and gets him to introduce her to the students that would be cutting and re-welding her locket. When she meets him she finds him to be a plump biker looking guy named Jillian and she decides that it would be better to not trust him with her locket. Soon she starts seeing him more in class, the teacher having him work on a special project that requires more time the he has allotted in his normal class time.

1 The A.A. – Helga comes home to find her Mom in a really horrific state, she was extremely drunk and while cooking, or trying to cook, accidentally cut herself. Helga calls 911 and gets her rushed to the hospital. Her mom is released a few days later and once she's back starts to drink again. Helga however has had enough with her drinking and forcibly enrolls her into a nearby AA group and gets rid of all of her 'smoothie' makings. For a week her mother 'goes' to the AA meetings but never returns home till very late saying she's 'talking with the follow members over food and learning their stories.' Helga decides to see if she's telling the truth and waits up late for Miriam to return. When she does return she's very drunk. Helga, furious, tells her she expected better and that she shouldn't have expected her to do anything different. Helga storms up to her room and locks her mother out. The next day when Helga gets back from school Miriam explains to her the reasons why she drinks, and tells Helga that she's sorry she's been such a burden as a mother. Helga agrees to give her one more chance but only if she lets Helga go with her to make sure she goes to the meetings. Helga learns just how much her mother means to her and that sometimes people need that extra push to really make a change in their lives, and sometimes the person to make that push isn't the one who always wants to do it.

Summer #1- Summer of One - After Helga and Phoebe's fight Helga decides that she's going to enjoy this summer to the best without Phoebe, even if she could really need her friend right now. But everything she tries to do goes wrong or reminds her of Phoebe. Before the summer ends she reflects on everything coming to the conclusion that she's gotta get Phoebe back as a friend to make everything right. She begins to plan how to do this and when she does her last few weeks of summer end up being ok, when if she's without her best friend.

2 Back together – Helga and Phoebe end up getting trapped together downtown and eventually though some crazy mishaps end up making up and becoming friends again. Helga learns how much a real apology can mean and she learns to trust her best friend in her own choices.

2 Drama Class and play #1 – Helga decides to take Drama with the idea again to get a easy A and though it works at first it back fires on here when it comes time for the first play. The Teacher is impressed with her abilities and gives her lead role which she doesn't want. Helga starts to scheme ways to get her out of the role but all of it fails. Eventually it's the night of the play and Helga pleads for her role to be given to someone else, but the teacher refuses and a defeated Helga takes the stage. During the play, the scene Helga was dreading come along and she finds it wasn't as bad as she thought. She then begins to worry if her acting is any good and she finds herself enjoying it, almost as an excuse to be someone else for a day. By the end she not only loved being on the stage and acting but the applause from the audience surprised her. At the end of the night she got many congratulations from her peers and from the people in the audience. When Helga gets home she begins to think better of herself and take pride in not only herself by everything she can do. She paints and gets herself mentally ready for the next night, for the second night of the play.

2 The Many skills of Helga G. Pataki – Mrs. Green had given the Drama class a very odd project. Instead of them having to write a formal paper on "their goals for the future" they instead have to write a script about where they will see themselves in 5 years as well as get at least 3 fellow class mates to help them act it out. Helga feels that this project will be an easy one for she sees herself with a bright future but soon she comes to realize that she's not entirely sure what she would be doing in her bright future. Helga then spends the next month creating a new script for a different possibility every week, from her being some world renowned Artist, to a Premier Actress on the big screens or even one of the best and toughest female wrestlers; but none seem to fit. Two weeks before the Project is due Mrs. Green talks to each of the students finding out how they've come along and Helga expresses that she's been unable to really decide on what she will do, and that no matter what skill she focuses on she's not able to see herself really being any of what she's planned. Mrs. Green tells her that she still has a lot of time to think about what she will do in her future, but for now she should probably just pick one of the scripts and run with it. Helga decides to go with her "Helga For President" script and gets two of her fellow classmates to join her in acting it out. When it comes for the day of the presentations she and her group does well and though she receives a lot of good feedback her mind is still stuck on her inability to know what she wants to do. She then makes that choice that in her next few years she will try out a few other classes to see where she finds her likes and dislikes and maybe thought that she will figure out what is her path.

2 Play #2 – It's the final play of the year for the Drama class and Helga is casted for one of the main parts. Odd things start to happen though as if someone wants her to leave the play or at least give up her role and she goes on an adventure with Phoebe to track them down. She finds that it's a seniors last year to be in a play, and she promised someone she would get the main role. Helga at first refuses and the girl starts to show up everywhere doing a verity of nice, and mean, things to Helga to try to force her to agree. Eventually, Helga reluctantly gives up the part for one of the more side roles. Though she still enjoys her part she wonders why it meant to much to the girl and after the play secretly follows her around. She finds it was her Dad that she was trying to impress to let her continue going down the path of acting. Leaves without saying anything to her and goes home. The next day she the girl gives her a letter and though it Helga learns that kindness can go a long way.

2 Is That Your Brother? -

Helga helps out a younger kid who gets attached to her as she becomes more like a serogate sister. Eventually he starts asking her for all kinds of advice including dating advice

2 Test of Skill – Helga figures out how to get her second semester Drama class changed for another elective, when the second semester rolls around however she finds to her dismay that it was a cooking class. After the first day though she finds that it is a lot more then what she saw and decides to take it as a chance to see if this may be something she would like to do later in life. Slowly she finds that though she's spent years helping Olga and her mom for special occasions such as Thanksgiving she has absolutely 0 culinary skills, and tends to set stuff on fire at least once a month. As it gets closer and closer to the end of the year she has to figure out what she will be creating for her midterm which is supposed to be a 'practical'. If she doesn't create at least a descent dish her grade will be unsalvageable. Helga's forced to have to ask for help so she picks one of the students in her class who, though she's odd and too much into cooking, she at least is doing well in the class and gets her to agree to help her out with her cooking before the midterm comes around. She invites Helga over to her house since Helga refuses to let her over to her's and finds that the girl isn't much different from herself. She helps Helga figure out what dish she plan on making and then works with her every day for a solid week creating the same dish over and over again until she's able to get it right. By the end of the week Helga's surprised with herself for she's able to make something without burning it. Helga passes her midterm and ultimately learns not to judge a book by her cover. She also learns that going with things she likes to do is probably a better route then just throwing stuff to a wall and see if it sticks when it comes to figuring out "what she wants to do".

2 The New Kid – in the middle of the school year a new student transfers to their school named Austin Kozac. The moment Austin see Helga he becomes interested and starts to follow her, rather badly for Helga notices and just tries to ignore him. He begins to extend his following to stalking and she starts to notice him follow her home a few times. She then tries many different ways to confront him and get him off her back but he always slips away. Eventually in class she has a chance to confront him and finds that he's in love with her. She runs from him unable to give him an answer and reflects on how much he's like her in his actions. She thinks on the idea of giving him a chance but finds herself unable to settle with the idea. She talks to him again and gives him her answer, that she loves someone else and would like to be friends if he could, but she wont be more then that. He gets angry and silently runs off.

2 Simmons Special Reunion – Mr. Simmons is planning a reunion with students of his from the past. He sends out invitations and at first Helga doesn't want to go. However she hears a rumor that Arnold might be there. She decides to go to be able to finally see Arnold again. Once she's there, though she tries to talk to Arnold who is there she finds that fate is somehow still keeping them apart as she's unable to get to talk or even get close enough for Arnold to even notice her. She gives up and starts to think that maybe fates just trying to tell her she's not ready, or that he's purposely avoiding her. Either way she decided once she gets home that she'll wait for him to come to her rather then her chasing him for once, if that ever happens.

Summer #2 - Walk 1000 Miles - Helga decides that she cannot take being away from Arnold anymore and that it was a mistake to wait for him to come to her. Following the address on the last letter Arnold sent her she starts her journey telling her parents that she's spending the week at Phoebe's. Lots of mishaps and trouble happen along the way and when she finally arrives she finds Arnold not there, he family had to do a business trip down to South America again. She heads home, the trip easier than before, but not before she leaves Arnold a present in his mailbox, anonymously. On the way back Helga decides to go back to her original plan of having him come to her and learns that she needs to try to be more patient.

Summer #2 - Again though Helga has decided to let Arnold come to her she feels oddly depressed and stressed about the whole thing. She goes to visit Phoebe and finds that she went to the park. When she gets there she finds her with Gerald and Arnold so she hides. They all sit on a bench behind her and Phoebe leaves for a bit to gets them some drinks and Gerald and Arnold get to talking. Soon the topic leads to Helga and Arnold talks on wanting nothing to do with her, which deeply hurts Helga. Arnold continues to talk about how he's angry while Helga starts to spiral down mentally, and begins to start mentally helping Arnold beat herself down. Soon Phoebe shows up and they stop talking about Helga and shortly leave. Helga wonders the streets thinking of how horrible she is. She after hours of wondering the city she finds herself in front of some kind of abandoned building where she can clearly hear music coming out of. She goes inside and finds she's stumbled on a rave. After debating she decided to just go in and lose herself and to say yes to what ever happens in there. After a while of dancing she starts to get hit on and asked if she'd want to go somewhere and just before she says yes Brainy shows up and leads her out. He brings her to a nearby fast food joint and gets her some food and asks her what happened. She explains to him in typical Helga fashion it's none of his business. He continues to push her to let him know and she almost beats him up from across the table. In mid sentence it dawns on Helga that she hadn't done that in a very long time, that somehow she was reverting back to 'Old Helga'. She lets Brainy go and apologizes and leaves the place. Brainy follows her and stops her to find her crying. Helga starts to ramble and tell Brainy what happened, and that she expected herself to be better then this by now, and it was all due to that foot-ball headed freak that all the work she did to make herself better was just thrown into the trash so quickly all because of what he said. She said she didn't know if she could try to do it all again, it took her four years to want to change and two years to just change as much as she had; she wasn't ready to start all over again. Brainy comforts her, and once she's done explains that it doesn't matter what anyone, especially Arnold says. No one else should be able to change Helga G. Pataki except for Helga herself. Brainy helps renew Helga's faith in herself and Helga learns that she can be strong in other ways then physically.

3 Hey Arnold! – Arnold's finally back and though he's back Helga is avoiding him as much as possible, not wanting to have a relapse of what happened at the park. Arnold avoids her as well, for the mean time. After a while when the first play of the year starts he goes to it and finds Helga in the lead role and as a completely different person. Soon his curiosity gets the best of him and he decides to meet with her and finds it's harder then he anticipated. Eventually he plans a meeting with him, Gerald, and Phoebe to get Helga to show up without know he would be there. Helga goes and finds Arnold expectantly there and bolts. He chases her and by chance he corner's her in a dead end of a alley way. He confronts her angrily telling her how he feels and wanting to know what she really feel about him. Her response is not at all what he expected for she explains that she wants nothing to do with him anymore, that she's finally making progress and he should just stay away from her and never talk to her again, throws her locket at him, and runs off. Arnold's flabbergasted and just stands in the alley way as Helga runs past him. Phoebe comes around the corner hearing the whole thing and confutes Arnold. She explains what Helga means, that she's been changing, and she doesn't know happened Arnold be so angry but that as long as she's known Helga she's never done anything to hurt him on purpose. Phoebe leaves him there saying that she's going to go and console Helga and for him to think of what just happened. He opens the locket and after reading what it said inside makes a very important self-discovery, finding all his 'problems' with Helga over the past 6 years hasn't been her fault but rather his for not understanding his own feelings. He aims to spend as much time as is needed to mend things with Helga, and to find out why she kept so quiet for all this time.

3 Guitar Class - Helga figures that since she has a fairly big love for music that maybe she should take up a music class. She decides on taking a Guitar class and hopes it will be as cool as she thinks. However she greatly underestimates how much work she needed to put in to even start to get good or heck even play the damn thing. She does everything she can to try to learn it though and at first though she ends up with bleeding fingers and an angry Bob for playing so late she starts to get the hang of it. Half way though the semester she figures she's good enough to try to maybe put together a little jam session with her fellow class mates and when it comes to the day she planned no only does everyone show up but they completely blow her out of the water with what they can do and with their passion for playing music. She finds that her so called 'passion' it more of just a strong preference but that the music life isn't really for her in the end. She continues to play and work in the class so that she can still play as a hobby.

3 Double Date - Though Helga's avoiding Arnold she's starting to feel a bit better, but is still in a depressed funk and can't seem to bring herself to paint or write. Phoebe does all she can to try to get Helga out of her depression but nothing seems to work. So in desperation Phoebe suggests that they do a double date and Phoebe will find her someone who isn't Arnold, someone else she can use to get her mind 'off' him maybe. After Phoebe pushes Helga agrees and a week later she finds her self with Phoebe waiting for Gerald and her mystery guy to show up. Shortly after Gerald shows up Helga's date does as well, reveling that it's Austin, and Helga's not to pleased but goes with it anyways. They sit next to each other and after the date starts she soon finds him invading her space by doing things such as touching her leg under the table and trying to feed her food. She puts up with it for a while but soon finds herself about to do something drastic and explode from anger. She manages to keep herself under control and gets Phoebe to go to the bathroom with her. She explains what Austin is doing and Phoebe helps her decide that blowing up on him right at the table and possibly throwing her food is not the answer, but to instead ask him outside and tell him her boundaries. She does this and instead of listening to her he tries to kiss her. She punches him in the face and runs off. Once she was home and made sure the doors to her house were locked she called Phoebe's cell to tell her what happened but before she could say anything Phoebe was apologizing that she didn't know that Austin was such a 'creeper' and that she wont let it happen again. Helga calms her down and asks what happened to make Phoebe seem to frantic and Phoebe explains that her and Gerald say the whole thing after she quickly explained the situation, and when she ran off Austin went to follow but Gerald was able to stop him before he go to far. When Helga tried to get more information from her Phoebe just leaves it at that he shouldn't be bothering her anymore, and might not be at school tomorrow at the least. Helga learns how real friends are supposed to be and that Phoebe made the right choice with Gerald. She then decides she'll try to be friends with Gerald more then she was in the past

3 Coming Out – Helga actively makes herself be as far away from Arnold as possible, once day resorting to ditching class for the first time in about two years. She stumbles upon Eugene seeming 'shady' and unwilling to explain what he was going. With Helga's fine deduction skills and her happenstance to be stuck with Eugene for a Social Studies Report she ends up finding out that Eugene might not like girls. She then does what she can to try to help him figure out what he does and doesn't like. Somehow some of the other kids find out and start to bully Eugene, Helga does something she never thought she'd do and stands up for Eugene. She decides that she'll give Eugene protection, after he begs her to, until all of the drama blows over and they stop trying to bully him. However she finds that she has to break her promise to Phoebe for one day after school the same kids decide to jump Eugene after school. She fights them and defends Eugene and sends them home running. Helga learns that defending someone else rather then yourself had it's own rewards and learns that when it's for a good cause that doing all you can to fight it worth it.

3 Helga's Party – Helga is invited to a party, which she plans to not go at first but after she's egged on says she show up. At the party she comes to find that everyone is drinking or are already drunk when she gets there. She then convinced by Rhonda to have at least once or two drinks. The first Rhonda gives her and she starts to sip on it. Helga, not having much fun being around her fellow drunk students decides she just have the one glass and that's it. She however gets pulled away to go play games with some of her drunk classmates from drama and she puts her cup down and goes to have fun. When she comes back later she finishes her drink ready to head home and finds that she's slowly starting to feel dizzy and very sleepy. She asks Rhonda if she can lay down for a bit somewhere. She's directed to one of the room and before she gets to the bed she loses all feeling in her body and she crashes on the floor. While she's trying to pick herself up Austin comes in the room, moves her to the bed, and begins to start touching, fondling, and undressing Helga who is unable to protest. Before things can get much father Helga finds Austin who was on her be pulled off, and after she lays there a while she feels someone else start to put her clothes back on before she blacks out. When she comes to she finds herself being carried and she not entirely who it is, she tries her best to ask them some questions but she herself isn't sure what to ask. Soon she's able to hear wheezing and realizes it's Brainy, asking him the only question she could muster "Why?" he tells her of his feelings he had for her and though he knew she would she would never care for him the same he still wanted to be friends. He didn't like her anymore and currently was happy with his current girlfriend, but that didn't mean he stopped looking out for her. Though she's tough even she sometimes needs someone to give her a hand. Helga's quiet, trying to understand the words fumbling in her mind but barely holds onto them. He gets her into her house, both her parents asleep, and brings her to her room. Once she's on the bed Helga blacks out. When she wakes she finds herself still in her clothes from the night before tucked into her bed, unsure of what happened except that she feels extremely sick. After vomiting, thinking maybe she had a lot more to drink then she thought, she returns to bed. The next day she gets a phone call from Brainy asking if she was ok, and wanted to meet her at the park near her house if she was feeling up to it. Though she feels sick to her stomach she goes. She finds out the details from Brainy's point of view what happened, and that it was Austin that did it. She's furious but unable to really do anything till school starts again. Brainy gets to the part of him carrying Helga home, who quickly says she didn't need the help, she retracts her statement after Brainy giver her a 'really?' look and instead thanks him. She them comes to the same question she asked him when she was under the drugs influence, "Why? Why did you help me Brainy? Heck, why were you even there?" and he reply's with that she said the same thing that night. She pushes him to tell her what he said and he tells her with almost the same reply, just less sappy and more precise. She wants to thank him but unsure how, and decides that she should be more open, so she gives him a quick hug and thanks him for saving her from Austin that night. She lets go of him quickly for she needs to puke in the nearest trashcan. She then says she needs to go home so she can rest and get what ever is still in her system out. Before she leaves she think about how, though she will never be a 'damsel in distress' it's still ok to accept help from others once in a while and that she shouldn't be so defensive. She officially will be Brainy's friend from now on. Before she leave she holds out her hand and says "Friends?" he shakes her hand and repeats her statement.

3 Big Bob Beeper Fallout – Things at home aren't so good for Helga. She's starting to find less food in the house then before and her parents keep making excuses about why they don't have money. She comes to find out that with the new technology that keeps being created and his inability to get his hands on it and sell it, Big Bob soon finds himself losing his business. Helga decides to take up a job to help out, without her parents knowing. Though they like the money at first, Helga's been dropping it off secretly, they begin to wonder where this money is coming from. They eventually find out Helga's working to keep them afloat and Big Bob and Miriam both come to realize how much she cares about them despite how they've always treated her. They decide that it's about time that they start treating her like they care about her rather then just expecting her to know. Helga learns that though her family is messed up, when it comes don to the nitty gritty they love her and always have and that they just had a hard time showing it to her; regardless of how 'better' they could be, they are still her family and all she's got and she's still glad to have them as they are glad to have her. Helga also learns to try to accept her family and the flaws that they have, as well as her own.

3 Rumors – Austin wants to get Helga's attention and so he starts spreading rumors about her and him 'doing things' during the spring break party at Rhonda's. Helga tries to confront him about it and he tells her to be his girlfriend or he'll keep spreading rumors. She tells him off and just starts ignoring the rumors angering him, so he decides to find some big secret of her's and comes upon her locket of her that was left behind by Arnold. He uses it as blackmail against Helga and forces her to go on a Date with him. He uses his friend Jake to take pictures while their not looking so that Austin has 'memories' of their date. She ends up going with a guy Phoebe set her up with and the night seems to just be going fine until some of the bullies she defended Eugene against, the leader being her date, pull a prank that ends up with Helga humiliated. Before Helga can take action Arnold defends her, not wanting to thank him or even deal with him she leaves and wait for her ride. He eventually follows her out and tries to talk with her and see if he can help. She just ignores him, figuring that if she does it wont hurt her and Arnold can get all of his need to talk out without any participation on her part. Arnold tries to talk to her, and she wont reply so he uses this time as a time for him to apologize to her for how he was when they saw each other the last time. He goes onto say that he was a jerk and that he shouldn't have acted like how he did. Though it was because he didn't know if she was just pulling the ultimate prank on him or something else he shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. He goes onto say that what ever her reasons he would be glad to hear them when she feels ready to talk, and in the mean time he would like to be friends. Her ride then shows up and she heads to the car, Arnold grabs her hand and stops her wanting an answer from her. Before he could say anything she turns to him and not in anger but in loneliness and sadness she says "I don't want to be friends Arnold.", she pulls away from him and leaves him standing on the steps contemplating what she said.

She takes the summer to figure out how to try and have a good relationship with them. It concludes with not only her and her parents really getting along and her Dad giving Helga her first car.

Summer #3 - Forgive and Forget? – Arnold's been doing all he can to try and get Helga alone so they can talk during the whole semester and when he did at prom he felt that he just made matters worse. He talks with Gerald trying to see if he can try to set up the same thing he did before but refuses saying "The last time you did that man, you caused so much trouble between me and Pheebs, a fall-out looked like a spring day! No way I'm doing that again man. Your a bold kid Arnold and I get that, but I'm not." Arnold then starts to try and see if he can get info on what Helga's been up to over the summer and no one seems to know. Somehow he comes across a cafe in the downtown area and find Helga working there. He then starts to visit everyday, Helga obviously doing all she can to either not serve him or not talk with him. Wanting answers he continues to visit, always asking for Helga to serve him and somehow she always gets out of it. Close to the end of the summer she finally agrees to be his server, the whole while being short and work orientated. At then end of his meal she comes and brings him her check, he grabs her hand and blurts out that he wants to know why she doesn't want to be friends, and why she keeps avoiding him. She reply's, calmly despite her obvious anger, for the first time that Arnold can remember, "You don't need me to tell you the answer to that foot-ball head, you should know the answer by now. Here's a better question. Why do you keep trying to apologize and 'be friends'? I've made myself clear on where I stand Arnold, what about you?" With that she leaves and has one of her fellow workers cover her and she heads home early. A stunned Arnold sits at his table asking himself the questions Helga asked him moments ago unsure of his own answer.

By some run of luck at almost every party game that is done Arnold and Helga end up together. It doesn't help when Phoebe is gone somewhere for most of the night. Helga decided to take some alone time to try to sort out her feelings that she thought she left behind, and doesn't tell anyone where she went. Arnold notices she's gone and organizes people to start looking for her everywhere in the Lloyd mansion. Arnold tries 'thinking like Helga' and after a few wrong places he finds her and over hears what Helga is talking to herself about. Arnold leaves without Helga noticing and tells Phoebe where she is. Helga then talks with Phoebe and reveals that despite all that's happened and how much she's tried to get him out of her mind and her heart she can't seem to stop loving Arnold. She then explains her plans to move away as soon as she graduates so she can be as far away from Arnold as possible.

3 The Creative Arts Teacher – After all the Drama, Art, Cooking, and Guitar escapades she decides to maybe try something else, something that she's been doing for a long time and that she likes to do, though she doubts that it will come to anything; however she sees it as worth a shot. She finds that there's a creative Art's class and picks it for, as she puts it, 'shits-and-giggles'. She comes to find not only is the teacher of the class a very interesting teacher but that writing and poetry is a lot more important to her then she realized. Helga learns not only what she really would like to do as a career but she learns that finding out more about who "Helga" is can be easier then she thought it would be.

4 Prom – Helga and Arnold both attend the Prom, and without dates. However at the Prom they come to find out that some of last year's seniors, led by Wolfgang, plan to ruin it. They attempt to save the Prom night and foil the plans of the Graduates. Helga and Arnold are also at the end named Prom King and Queen due to some meddling by Phoebe and Gerald. This forces Helga to finally spend some alone time with Arnold as well as Dance with him. Arnold finally gets to talk to Helga and does his best to tell her his feelings but ultimately can't fully say them. Helga doesn't quite get what he's saying and instead misunderstands. Figuring that tonight would be the last night she would talk with Arnold before the school year ends she tells Arnold how she feels, without freaking out. She also tells him she doesn't expect him to return her feelings; that she just needed to tell him, to get it off her chest so she can move on with her life. Before Arnold can tell her anything else the song ends and Helga leave. Because Helga drove herself Arnold is unable to stop her from leaving without talking to her. Helga learns that telling people how you feel, even if what it is can be very scary to do, is better then holding it all in. She feels she is ready to graduate and move on from Arnold.

4 Arnold's Answer – After Helga ran off Arnold finds he's unable to find her so he could answer her, and now again at school she's avoiding him. He's however unswayed by her actions and creates a plan to catch her where she can't run away and tell her his answer to her feelings. He creates an elaborate scheme and with the help of all of the old PS 118 gang, including Gerald and Phoebe after he tells them how he feels about Helga and his plan. Though it took him 7 years to figure it out, he realized he loves her, because she's the most complex, interesting, and amazing person he's ever known. The plan goes into action and he finally is able to talk to her and he then asks her to give him and chance and let him take her out on a date in front of the whole gang. Before she accepts she requires that he meet her somewhere more private and listen to her stories of 8 years ago. He follows her to the park and she explains her little pink books, Cecile, the reason for all her antics, the shrines even, and as many adventures she could cram into a few hours. At the end of what she felt sufficed and explaining all her reasons behind her obsession, she asks him is he still wants that date or if he sees her as a loon. He tells her he would love to have that date.

4 Trouble in Paradise – Arnold asks Helga out on a date and during the date, though everything goes well, she notices that her stalker Austin is following her again. This continues as Arnold and Helga try to spend more time together. Suddenly, Arnold stops talking to Helga and seems mad. With a hunch of what happened she confronts Austin finding out that he told Arnold that she was actually dating him and only said yes because she didn't want to hurt his feelings. Helga answered him by knocking him out cold. She then went to find Arnold and explained how Austin had been stalking her for years, and not in the same way she had once done to him. She details to him about the party incident and locket incident and also becomes mad at him that, after all that has happened and all she's told him by now that he would even think Austin was telling the truth (Austin uses a picture he got though his Black Mail of Helga [A picture of them kissing] to convince Arnold). Arnold comes to realize he needs to give Helga a little more credit and though he cares about her he has a bit of a way to grow up as well in the relationship department.

4 It's About Time - Rhonda's throwing another party for the end of the year, as per-request from Helga, no alcohol or Austin would be present. Still a bit bitter about the date with Arnold she's back to a little of her old bullying, just so she can get under his skin. As the night progresses however Helga starts to become frustrated because Arnold seems to be completely unphased at all her attempts. Helga persuades Rhonda to get everyone to play a "Truth or Dare" game and aiming to get arnold to spill the beans as to why he's not being his normal self. Before she can though Arnold gets a turn and uses it on Helga. She's unsure of what he's planning and does Truth to which Arnold quickly asks "Will you be my girlfriend?" Helga tries to escape and Nadine blocks the door out, and Helga realizes that they all again plotted with Arnold. She realizes that she's still running away, though what she's always wanted is right in front of her. She questions herself as to why she's running, and finds it's not Arnold she's afraid of, but other the other people in the room. She now knows and understands that she didn't change this much, to become more of who 'Helga' is supposed to be, just to be pushed down by a bunch of other people who didn't matter. Using all her will she pushes past her own wall, strong as she ever could be, and tells Arnold "I would love to be your girlfriend." The whole room explodes with cheers and applause as she realizes that they wouldn't have worked with Arnold if they didn't already accept them together. Helga feels a bit foolish but is glad that she's finally past her all barriers and can be herself without having to always pull way from others. As she's lost in thought she finds a happy Arnold suddenly in front of her as he gives her a passionate kiss, one that she had been waiting all her life for.

Graduation – It's the night of Graduation and at first Helga's not worried, however different obstacles start to get in her way that all seem to be trying to make it so she can't walk and get her diploma. As a last attack on fate Helga bargains that if she can still make it to the Graduation Ceremony on time and get her diploma that her own fate is in her own hands, no longer in that of the world's. She makes it on time and things already start looking up for her.
