OMIGOSH YOU GUYS. SORA IS IN SMASH. My sweet angel child finally made it! Not gonna lie, the trailer made me cry a little. I honestly felt like a proud mom watching her son go into the first day of school or something XD anyways, I am so excited I could EXPLODE!
I wrote this up in a frenzy shortly after watching the announcement video. It's a bit rushed, but I felt like I had to get it out there. I'm just...so happy. After all this time, Sora made it into Smash. Thank you, Nintendo, Sakurai-san and Nomura-san!
Diclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts or Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
Sora…
Sora….
Sora, we need you.
It's time for you to come here.
Sora's mind woke up slowly.
He was...floating. Floating like a cork in water; unsure of destination and where he had been. How long had he been bobbing along in this emptiness? The more he thought, the more it seemed impossible to think – his thoughts felt like they were being dragged through molasses. But strangely enough, his limbs didn't lock up. His heart stayed the same, consistent beat.
It was oddly peaceful. The empty space around him felt...tranquil. Not at all threatening like the darkness he was ever so familiar with. This was the darkness that rocked one to sleep at night, the kind where the wind whispered soft lullabies.
There was a small jolt of panic as Sora realized his hands were empty. The Keyblade was not in his grasp, nor on his waist. Exerting all of his strength, he reached out a hand to summon it.
Even with closed eyes, Sora could feel the smallest glimmer of light in the distance. He wanted to move, but his limbs felt made of lead. Move! He shouted to himself. Come on! Head towards the light!
As if the air around him was paying attention, it gently guided him towards the unopened door. One of a shape and design he had never seen before. What is this place…?
The unfamiliar voice answered him again: We need you, Sora. It is finally time for you to come here.
He felt himself passing through light and heat, but neither scorched his body.
Finally finding himself able to move, Sora opened his eyes.
He was floating in some kind of big room, with an endless ceiling and what looked like no solid ground. Casting his eyes about, Sora saw a large group of people standing below him. They were a group that he had never seen before: there were men and women, as well as animals that stood upright and strange creatures he didn't have a name for.
They were all staring at him. A few had fear in their eyes, but most looked curious.
It should have been scary. He was farther from home than he had ever been, in a brand new place that he knew nothing about, surrounded by people he didn't know. Each of them had a weapon of some kind; did they mean him harm?
It should have been scary. But...it wasn't.
The familiar excitement and joy of a new world, new friends, new people to help...it filled Sora up like the warmest drink on a winter's day. In his exhilaration, Sora flew across the room, twisting and turning at every possible chance. Sparks of golden light flew off of him, leaving glittery trails.
Everyone stared. A few had their mouths open. Sora laughed. He couldn't help himself; they looked like fish out of water.
Doing one final, elaborate twirl, Sora slowly descended to the ground. The Keyblade floated a few feet away from him. As if sensing its master, it whooshed into the air with a flourish, spinning a few times before landing in Sora's outstretched hand.
We need you, Sora.
...I'm here. he answered silently.
Sora swung the Keyblade over his shoulder, giving the group his broad, kind smile. "Let's go!"

There were a few familiar faces. When Sora saw Cloud, he nearly screamed with joy. When Sora saw Sephiroth, it took Cloud and three other men to hold him back and give him a brief explanation.
It all came to Sora in bits and pieces, much like when he first arrived in Traverse Town: fighting, items, Final Smash, teams, all in good fun. He wasn't sure what it meant, but it sounded exciting.
Against a fiery backdrop, Sora and the short man with the mustache – whom he presumed was the group's leader – shook hands.
"We're glad you're finally here, Sora," the man said. He had an accent that Sora couldn't name, but his eyes were kind and his tone was genuine. "We need you. Welcome to Smash."
