Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Witch and Warlock. Enjoy the 1000- word chapter. I don't own ReZero, Tappei and a few others do.

The warlock was named Landon… Not that Echidna knew it, not yet. The witch didn't much care if others saw her. They didn't understand anything at the moment.

"If the warlock cares to reveal himself…" Echidna questioned with a finger to her lips. "Then I'll spare you all." Echidna stated as she lowered her fingers from the sides of her lips.

She was greeted by a blast of lightning which she countered by a wall of ice. The figure glared at her from behind his cloak.

Echidna sighed and blew a strand of hair out of her face and smiled. The figure looked around as people scattered.

"Oh, that's some power." Echidna stated with a smirk stretching her lips to the side. "Come with me, little warlock." Echidna ordered as the warlock crossed his arms.

"Your not going to take me, witch of greed." The warlock stated and launched another blast of lightning at the witch who blocked it, sending the lightning careening to the side. It exploded against the side of a wall, shattering it and raining down on both of them.

When the smoke cleared? The white cloaked warlock was gone. Echidna smirked to herself and started to hunt the rival magic user through the town.

"I don't like people who know about me when I don't know them." Echidna stated as she started walking down the street. "Come out, little warlock…. I told you I'll spare this village if you do." Echidna added as she cracked her fingers.

She knew very well that she was magically powerful, not physically. She couldn't hold a fight in stamina when it came down to it.

But she knew that this warlock wasn't as powerful when it came down to it. She just wished he wasn't going to drag this fight out… But then again? Part of her enjoyed this fight when it came down to it. She hadn't readily thrown her magical power against others…. And it did get her blood pumping in a way that excited her beyond all words.

"Hmm…" Echidna stated to herself with a hum as she turned to look around at the warlock. "Come out…" Echidna stated before another blast of magic… This one fire, was thrown at her head and tossed her backwards.

"Oh, you're lucky I want you alive…" Echidna stated, her voice a slight hiss. "Don't toy with me, little warlock. I'm only going easy on you because I'm amused." Echidna added as he hummed and then turned to look to the side.

"Then don't hunt me any further, witch of greed." The warlock responded while conjuring another attack. "You will find no remorse or mercy here." The warlock stated as he fired another blast of fire at her followed by another strike of lightning.

Echidna countered with a blast of ice which battered away both attacks. She rolled her eyes at the warlock who stood atop one of the huts in the small realm.

"Your messing with things that cannot be undone." The warlock said as Echidna huffed and crossed her arms.

"Don't lecture me on how I obtain knowledge…." Echidna responded as she paced atop the burning home. "And do not stand in my way. I will not allow you to escape me… Your too precious." Echidna stated with a purr that made Landon shake his head.

"Don't tempt me." Landon stated as he clenched his fists at her. "I've seen you in dreams, you don't help people… You hurt them. Everything you do is to obtain knowledge for yourself. Not to aid others…. Not for some more grand design." Landon stated as the warlock turned to look at the destruction they had wrought.

"And when did such a powerful witch like you come to care about mortals?" Echidna questioned as she started to walk closer to the warlock. "Do they bring you tribute? Money? Power? Tell me, what is it about them that causes you so much of a desire to protect them? What do they owe you?" Echidna asked as Landon crossed his arms.

"What do you know of compassion?" Landon asked while looking around. "You came here to abduct me… Yet you had no intention of sparing the village. I knew from my dream I was going to face you… And I know how powerful you are. You're a witch of sin and yet I scare you." Landon stated with a smile gracing his lips.

Echidna glowered but didn't respond. Was Landon powerful? Yes, he was far beyond what she thought of him. Echidna knew very well he had potential just like everything when it came down to it.

Still? She had to deal with things when it came down and hummed as she looked at the warlock. He still held up his hands defensively, expecting her to be a threat when it came down to it. There was far too much at stake for either to relax.

But Echidna knew very that most people had weaknesses that she could exploit when it came down to it. She just didn't know what Landon's were.

"If I were to spare these people… Would you be willing to talk about it then?" Echidna questioned which caused Landon to frown and look around at the town with interest.

"You have to give your promise, witch…" Landon stated only for Echidna to giggle and raise her hand.

"Greed doesn't promise… But it does make deals." Echidna stated as she turned and gazed at Landon.
