Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Witch and Warlock. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own ReZero, Tappei and a few others do.
Landon was curious, he was rather hopeful that he could stop her, but he could feel the raw power that came from the witch.
"You act as if suffering is the key to knowledge." Landon added, looking at Echidna while he brushed off his shirt. "As if it's so easy to simply turn the sea of battle against the rest of existence by being ruthless, showing no mercy or remorse or care or such. It isn't, that's just how you unite more people against the rising tide of hatred you've amassed to begin with." Landon added, looking away as she turned towards him.
He hated it. He hated how she seemed to think that it was so easy to simply hurt others, how strong she was. Echidna was powerful, possibly as much as him, perhaps stronger than even that, but she was still powerful. Landon could feel her very magic when it came down to it. Echidna was strong enough to kill him, but she didn't.
"And yet you act like your anymore better than me, you aren't and you know it." Echidna responded, tapping her fingers against the tip of her lips. "You would do it so easily if it gained you knowledge, you claim to not think about the rest of humanity when you are not human. You exist outside when it comes down to it. There's too much at stake for you to have the humanity to do so." Echidna added to which Landon rolled his eyes, shaking his head as he looked around.
"Don't claim to know me, witch." Landon responded, closing his eyes as pain rushed through his temples. "I don't want to point out that there will be too much for you to deal with. The vast amount of knowledge that I command is something you can't begin to imagine." Landon put in, clenching his fists at the smirking woman in front of him.
He turned his attention away from her, not bothering to give the woman a second more of his time or attention. It would hurt more if she did something to the people then to him. He could be brought back. His power and knowledge could be replaced, but she? She wanted something when it came down to it.
Whatever she wanted? It scared Landon more to think she had the power to seize and take it. Echidna was strong. That? Combined with her determination? Meant she'd seize whatever she wanted without issue or delay.
He wanted to stop that, but he didn't know what she wanted, nor how she planned to seize it. Landon couldn't plot around a plan he didn't understand nor have any idea of the scope for.
"Why do you enjoy humanity so much if you have so much power, hmm?" Echidna questioned, gaining a roll of the eyes from Landon.
"Because unlike you? I have some reason to care about them, consider gaining power without suffering." Landon said, pointing a finger at the witch of greed who smirked. "Because unlike you? I do not steal the knowledge, hording it for myself out of some twisted, stupid desire that only I alone may wield it. You are more arrogant than me, and that says more about how dangerous you are compared to me or my powers." Landon stated, glaring at her with unhidden bile from his eyes.
Echidna had too much fun playing with Landon. The two were equal in power, but this domain was hers and hers alone. Nobody could match her in sheer power here, nor could they pretend to even have a small grasp of power compared to her. Landon was nothing more to a toy to here, but she supposed that would change soon enough.
"I welcome you to challenge me, for that would be interesting to face someone on my own territory." Echidna responded getting a roll of the eyes from Landon who said nothing. "Your will is quite strong for someone who I've been using plenty of magic to try and subdue. I have to do much more work to keep doing if I'm going to keep you from doing something insane." Echidna added, teleporting away a moment later as Landon sighed, thinking of what he'd do next.
There was too much to do at this moment if he was going to escape. He doubted he'd let it be easy if she was so skilled at magic, but he questioned if she had ever prepared for someone as powerful as him being on her territory.
He supposed he'd find out soon enough when this game of theirs was done and ever that. Landon could only point out that there was plenty of work to try and do.
Landon cracked his fingers and started to think on his magic at the moment while he hummed to himself. He shook his head at the second.
