I woke up and remembered I had to go to school. After dinner at Mr. Frankenstein's place, I had stayed out a bit too late. I could barely keep my eyes open for my classes, even after my coffee. By the time I had to go to my tutoring class, I was slowly dragging my feet.
"Long night?" Gray asked as I walked into the school.
"And day. It's too late for coffee. Do I really look that bad?" I looked up at him and yawned.
"You seem more tired."
"Remind me never to stay up late when I have my morning class. I guess I have to go in now. I'll see you later, Gray."
I walked on into the school and encountered two more security guards.
"Hey. I remember you. Shin's friend. How the heck did you get a job as security if he had to fight the people mugging you? Hi, new person."
"It's Tao." He stated nervously while blushing.
"Nice to meet you, Tao. I'm Mi-Sun or Sunny. Choose whichever one."
"The last time I saw you, I forgot to tell you how sexy you looked," Takeo said in broken Korean. I frowned at him. Tao chuckled.
"You speak English?"
"Yes."
"Which one is better, your English or your Korean?"
"English."
"Good. Can you repeat what you were trying to say in English?"
"Last time I saw you, I was going to say how lovely you looked."
"Thank you. How did you learn Korean?"
"Oh. Tao has been teaching me." I looked at Tao, and he had a sly look on his face.
"Hmmm…keep working on it." I chuckled and walked on.
I went into the tutoring session tired, and by the end of it, I was drained. After the students left, I decided to take a quick nap.
"Hey, Mi-Sun." Someone shook me and called my name. I slowly opened my eyes and saw it was Gray.
"Hi. What are you doing here?"
"You're still in the school."
"Oh! Crap! What time is it?"
"Not too late. About six-thirty."
"I suppose I should go home." I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and stood up. "Thank you for waking me up."
"I'll walk you home."
"That's really sweet of you. Do you mind if we stop somewhere for food? I don't have anything at home, and I don't think I have the energy to cook."
"Sure."
We went to one of the restaurants nearby and got some take-out, then headed to my apartment.
"So, what's your story? How'd you end up working for Mr. Frankenstein?"
"I used to work for a private, high-security agency in Japan. I came to Korea with a client and happened to like the place. I ran into the boss and did him a favor. Since I was looking for a change, I quit that other job and came to work here."
"That's so uncomplicated. I had a whole James Bond type of backstory in my head about you."
"Who is James Bond?"
"You don't know James Bond? He's like the ultimate spy! Like a movie spy, not a real-life spy."
"I didn't really have a tv as a kid, so I never got into movies."
"Hmmm…What are you going to do at home after this?"
"Nothing really. Unless the boss needs something."
"Give me a moment." I took out my phone, called Mr. Frankenstein, and told him that Gray is busy, so he shouldn't be needed. I also said he can feed Shin-Woo because I didn't cook dinner. "There we go. Now, we're going to watch a James Bond movie." I said, then smiled at him.
"I guess."
Once we got to my apartment, we ate dinner then I put the movie on. I tried to keep my eyes open but eventually dozed off.
I woke up and found myself in my bed. It was around five am in the morning. When I walked out of my room, I found Gray asleep on the couch. He woke up when I entered the living room.
"Hey. I'm so sorry about falling asleep during the movie. I guess I was more tired than I thought I would be. Thanks for taking me to my room."
"It's no problem. There was no way of locking the door, so it was better to stay."
"Thank you. I'm guessing Shin didn't come back home. How did you find the movie?"
"I think I understand James Bond now."
"That's what I was guessing your life was like before coming here. But I guess it was less complicated than that. I'm still really sorry for letting you watch it alone. If you want, can we watch the second one together? I promise to be fully awake for it."
"No need to apologize. I would be open to that."
"Awesome! Let me know next time you're free. I usually work on my school stuff before tutoring, so I can free up my time afterward."
"What are you in school for?"
"Graphic design."
"What is that?"
"With that, I'll be able to do freelance design work. Basically, design websites, logos, marketing stuff, whatever I can do."
"That sounds nice."
"Yeah. I love it. I've been designing websites for a while but for smaller clients. After college, I might be able to get bigger companies."
We ended up talking for a bit longer before he had to leave for home.
That evening while relaxing in my bed, Shin came back from Mr. Frankenstein's and fell on my bed, sighing.
"What's wrong with you?"
"I have a dating problem. How do I get someone to go out with me? There's someone I wanna ask, but I don't know how."
"This isn't about Yuna again, is it? Didn't she already reject you?"
"Yeah. Two years ago. I think she still likes Ahjussi. I told her you liked him too. He spent the night here last night, right?"
"What about it? I fell asleep, and since he didn't want to wake me up and couldn't lock the door after leaving, he slept here. We were just watching a movie. Can you believe he'd never watched James Bond?"
"Back to my dating problem. No one was able to help me. I asked Tao-Hyung and Takeo-Hyung, but they ran away from me. Principal Lee was bragging about how all the girls were coming to him so much that he started questioning his existence. Ahjussi said that he was jealous because I should hold on to it dearly if that's my only trouble. He was weird about it. I think Seira heard me and said something about the more you're around beautiful people, it's only natural that you're attracted to them."
"Oooo…who was she talking about?"
"I don't know. I think she smiled, though. And she also keeps picking up my bag whenever I drop it."
"She likes you?"
"How do you figure that?"
"Because I've seen her a couple of times, and I've never seen her smile. If she smiled at you, then she meant it. How about this…Yuna obviously doesn't see you the same way you see her. Try looking at other people like Seira. I like people like Seira. She doesn't walk around like she's scared of her own shadow. I feel like she can kick as much ass as you can. Unless dating her means, you can't keep doing that annoying knight in shining armor shit you keep doing with Yuna."
"What does that mean?"
"It means most of the time, the reason you come back hurt is that you were trying to save Yuna from something dumb. I'm officially on Team Seira. No offense, but I feel like you will be less hurt if you stick with her."
"I like saving my friends."
"Mmmm…is that why you pushed me towards traffic while pushing the other three towards the pavement that day?"
"I knew you could handle it."
"Whatever. Ask Seira to hang out. Some girls like it when you ask them out directly, and she seems like someone who appreciates the direct approach. Between the two of you, she's the shy one, so you have to be the one to do something. Otherwise, you can take the slow approach and when you guys hang out, try to do something with just her. Like when she's cooking, try to ask if you can help her with anything. Or ask her to teach you some of the cooking stuff then you'll have a chance to do something together. She seems to really like cooking, so you'll be doing something she likes with her."
"Oh. Ok. Maybe I'll try one of those. You kinda made it sound easy when you put it that way. I should have come to you first before those guys made me write a letter.
I chuckled.
Gray didn't have some free time until about fours days later. I decided to show up at Mr. Frankenstein's house with my laptop to watch the movie. Once I stepped into the house, I could feel some sort of tension going on. Mr. Frankenstein, Rai, Seira, and Regis were in the living room talking to an old man who had the same hair as Regis.
"Hello, Mr. Frankenstein."
"Hello, Mi-Sun. The other three are in the backyard."
"Thanks. Hi Seira! Regis! Hello, sir."
"She doesn't seem like the others." The old man said to the group.
"She assists some of the students at the school and is a close friend."
"I'll just head to the back." I walked to the backyard where Takeo, Tao, and Gray were. "Hi, guys! What's with the tension in there?"
"Hi, Mi-Sun," Takeo said
"It's a family discussion. I believe that is Regis' grandfather."
"Oh. Anyway, ready?" I asked Gray.
"Sure."
"Ready for what?"
"We're watching a movie."
"Which one? Can we come?"
"Ummm…I don't know." I looked at Gray.
"No. Let's go."
"Sorry. I have no say on it. This is his domain. Maybe when we decide to move to a different movie series, I can have a movie night at my place. Right now, since you've already not watched the first movie, I feel like you'll be asking questions."
"Ok."
"Sorry, guys."
"Let's go." I followed Gray to his room and set up the laptop on a side table, then we sat on the bed facing it.
"Ready to start?"
"Yes."
"Are you usually able to see with your hair in your eyes?" I teased.
"I can see clearly."
"Would you mind if I fixed it?"
"Ok." I combed my fingers through his hair and gathered it into a ponytail using a spare hair tie. He was very handsome with all the hair out of his face. I couldn't help but blush.
"Umm…you look really nice with the hair out of your eyes. Much younger too. How old are you?" I asked, then sat back down next to him.
"Thank you. I'm twenty-four." I chuckled. "What?"
"Aren't you the same age as Tao and Takeo? I think the kids call you Ahjussi because of your hair, not your age."
"I don't like it that much."
"I figured as much. Don't mind them."
I didn't end up sleeping this time around. After the movie, there was still time before dinner, so we talked.
"Do you mind if I ask you something?" Gray asked.
"Sure. Go on."
"Why do you ask to hang out?"
"I don't know. I guess I like you and I think you're pretty interesting. Plus, you usually say yes so, I figured you liked whatever we do when we're hanging out. You know you can say no, right?"
"I know I can. I do enjoy the time I spend with you. I don't really know what to do when it comes to this sort of thing."
"You don't have the most conventional life, and I know that. How about we just go with the flow. When you're free, we can just hang out."
"Yeah. My life is chaotic. There are times I might take on freelance work and not be here for a long time."
"I'm fine with that."
"So…what now?"
I snaked my arms around his neck into a hug. He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"One day at a time, right?" I said, then turned to meet his eyes.
"Yes. I think you're the most normal thing in my life right now."
"I'll try not to disappoint. I am related to Shin, so I highly doubt his weirdness hasn't rubbed off."
"I guess. That's still more normal than my life." I laughed.
"If you see me as normal, then I'll accept it." I sat up and looked into his eyes. "Your eyes are the same color as your hair."
"Are they?" I cradled his face in my hand and stroked my thumb over the scar on his lips.
"What happened here?"
"I was in a fight and got cut." I kissed the top and bottom parts of the scar. I then brought my lips to his in a kiss. A dash of pink washed over his face.
"What's wrong?"
"I've never done that before."
"Really?"
"Can you do it again?" I kissed him again then smiled at him. "I like you too."
"It's pretty interesting that your first kiss was today, especially with you looking the way you do."
"I've never really had time for anything besides work. I grew up in an institution and started working right when I was able to. I never really had a normal life or time for socializing."
"I guess that makes sense. Does that mean there is a lot of regular stuff you haven't done yet?"
"Like what?"
"I don't know. Fun things that young people do. Concerts, night outs, sunbathing at the beach. Things like that."
"Not really."
"Do you want to? We can do that together. I'm always up for fun. I have a feeling you need to have some fun every once in a while."
"I suppose. It might be interesting. Can you kiss me again?" I laughed then kissed him.
"Had enough?" He shook his head. "If you're excited about this, wait till you find out about the other stuff."
"What stuff?"
"I'll let you figure it out. Dinner should be ready by now." I took his hand and pulled him towards the door. "Do you want to keep your hair up?" He pulled the hair tie from his ponytail, letting his hair fall over one of his eyes.
"Let's go." We walked to the dinner table. Regis' grandfather was still there and seemed offended when Frankenstein served ramen. The atmosphere around the table seemed a bit tense. Takeo and Gray were in charge of dishes, so I had to wait for him to walk me home.
He held my hand as we walked to my apartment.
"This felt like a normal thing to do. I hope you don't mind."
"Nope. I like it."
"Ok."
Shin was not home when we got there, so I figured he would be spending the night at Ik-Han's.
"Did you want to stay awhile?"
"Sure."
"I figured it seemed a bit tense over there, so it's probably more fun here."
"That's true."
"Did you want something to drink? I can make some tea."
"Ok. I'd like some." I made tea and served it to him as we talked. I put on a movie, then leaned on his shoulder, and he wrapped his arm around me. I sat back up and faced him as I had an idea for a date.
"Hey. If you're not doing anything after work tomorrow, do you wanna go see a movie in a theatre with me?"
"Yes. I'd like to."
"Awesome! We don't have to decide on the movie right now."
"Ok." I looked at him with a smile on my face. "Is something wrong?"
"No. You don't talk a lot, but your face usually says so much. You don't have to hold back with me, you know. You can tell me what you are feeling."
"I will. This will take a bit of getting used to." I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I know. I'm just saying I'm always here to hear you out."
"Thank you, Mi-Sun." He responded and snaked his arms around my waist, then pulled me close. "I like it when you hug me. I never got them before and never got any the way you do it."
"You can hug me anytime you want to. I'd never say no." I straddled his legs and held on to the hug as he buried his head into my neck. His breath against my skin sent a warm shiver down my spine. I felt his lips on my neck, and my heart skipped a beat.
"Sorry. Did I scare you? Your pulse increased. I don't know why I did that."
"You didn't scare me. I liked that."
"Oh. Ok. Can I kiss you?" I looked at him and nodded. He brought his lips to mine and mimicked what I had done before. He then pulled away from the kiss and looked at me as if waiting for my approval. I smiled at him and kissed him, this time a bit more aggressively. Again, he caught on to what I was doing and kissed me back aggressively. He ran his warm hands up and down my back. I moved even closer to him and grinded on him. He groaned in the middle of a kiss.
"Sorry. I went too far. I didn't want to overwhelm you." I apologized and started moving off him.
"No. Stay." He held on to my waist.
"Are you sure?"
"I've never felt like this before. Don't stop." We went back to kissing then I grinded on him again. I felt his hardness below me and kept moving. I pulled away from the kiss and buried my face in his neck, then nibbled on it. He turned me over so I was under him and rubbed against me while grunting. He finally buried his head into my neck, let out one final grunt, and his breath quickened.
"Are you ok?" I asked and smiled at him.
"Sorry. I may have gotten carried away." He brought his face up and met his eyes to mine.
"You're fine. You didn't hurt me, and if you liked it, then great! Did you want to stay?"
"Yeah."
"Ok. I'll get you sweatpants from Shin that you can sleep in. I don't think he'd mind. Actually, I don't think he'd notice."
"Sure." I found a pair of sweatpants for him and a spare toothbrush. We both showered, and I threw his clothes in the washer along with mine so they would be clean by morning. We both then lay in my bed.
"Mi-Sun?"
"Yeah?"
"I just wanted to make sure I didn't hurt you earlier."
"You didn't hurt me. I'm fine."
"Is it ok if I hold you?"
"Yeah." He wrapped his arms around me, and I rested my head on his chest.
"Was what I did earlier the other stuff you were talking about?"
"Well…kinda. I guess it's that with fewer clothes."
"Can you show me?"
"Eventually. I don't want to move things too fast. Is that ok with you?" I looked up at him.
"Ok."
"It'll be worth it to wait. I promise." I kissed him. "Go to sleep."
"Ok." I fell asleep with my head still on his chest.
