Ruined City in the Wastelands of GGO

Imperial Calender 886

Zorzal looked around the ruined city, it was clear they built this city out of marble, glass and bricks but now it was in ruins.

There were multiple ruined carriages made out of iron with a ballista at their top.

Black smiths attempted to see how strong the iron was, but they couldn't get any pieces outside of scraping the coloring of the carriage.

"This city could've been a perfect place to conquer." Zorzal arrogantly said to himself. Currently his command tent was located in the direct center of the town, Imperial scouts have confirmed that there is another city off in the distance, one that was clearly inhabited, although this one wasn't, it was nothing more than a place where a war occurred, nothing more nothing less.

The sun is rising so it was morning in the real world, but the imperials wouldn't know that.

"My liege we have found a water source, our mages are currently testing its drink ability." Reported an aid.

"Good, that means we'll make it to the city without being thirsty. Also at our current pace how long will it be till we reach the city?" Zorzal asked.

"By the afternoon if we start walking right now." Said the aid.

"Alright good, I don't want a useless fighting force, when we're about to conquer another world!" He said arrogantly.

"Agreed milord." Wes all his aids response.

By 8:30 AM Japanese standard time the Imperial army continued their march onto SDC Glocken, around this time classes would start for Karen, and other people who won't be affected by this war.

By 3:40 the imperial army was around a kilometer away from SDC Glocken. This wasn't ignored by players who were on, who were lower level and couldn't venture too far out or would be killed by the hazardous wasteland, soon word spread and whatever players were online during work hours began reporting the sightings to Zaskar.

Then the imperial army attempted to storm the gates of SDC Glocken. Although the walls of the city did have defenses, those were mostly just decoration that did not work since NPC monsters could be easily prevented from coming close to the walls with a simple invisible barrier players, and allowed NOC types could only pass. But since the Imperial weren't apart of GGOs' coding they were unaffected by everything except weapons and hazards, the imperial army had luck on their side since no beasts spawned near them this mostly had to do with the fact to cut down on strain on the servers beasts only spawned within a 3 kilometer radius near the players on even intervals between each spawn times.

So it was understandable as to why nothing attacked them since they aren't a part of the game's code.

"Archers fire a volley!" Ordered Zorzal. Then seconds later a massive volley of arrows streaked across the sky over the city's walls, landing a couple of hits on some players at the edge of the massive city.

The game didn't have a built in siren that an attack was happening so nobody who wasn't near the edge of town didn't know what's happening until the sound of guns being fired that everybody noticed something odd.

"Those gunshots are awfully close aren't they?" A player asked his friend.

"Yeah I would say those shots are coming from the edge of the city." His friend said.

"We'll what are they shooting at? If you leave the city by yourself without teleporting you will have to walk at least a kilometer to get out of the nospawn zone, but even then you're not guaranteed to get any monster spawns." Said the player.

Then the shooting mysteriously stopped all of a sudden.

"Looks like whatever they are fighting is killed or they got killed." Said the other player being completely ignorant of what's happening.

Although the shooting could be heard from around a kilometer away, for players on the other side of town they heard nothing, outside of players respawning.

The players that came into contact with the imperial teams got cocky and decided it was a good idea to stay close, and because of their low level, which means their dexterity will be low. So overall they got killed. More skilled players use the main building in the center of town to teleport to harder areas so they can save on time but they couldn't teleport everywhere they wanted.

By 4:00 PM the imperial army was around a kilometer into the city. Caravans of players and NPCs were being sent back to the gate, all players can do is hope that an event happens in real life that forces the amusphere to kick them out, or something happening like mobs spawning. Since their hands were tied preventing them from logging out. This would be acceptable in events like Squad Jam in a attempt to get information about an enemy team then killing the captive allowing him to watch the events as a spectator but most won't do this, as it's more efficient in just killing them and then actively hunting out the enemy in the next scan but this was the open world, all everybody cares about kills so no one captures anybody.

"Prince Zorzal, the imperial army is already nearing the center of the city, although resistance is getting fiercer, it isn't much of a threat." Said one of his aides.

"Good, I want this city to be occupied by sundown." Zorzal ordered.

"At your will milord."

The imperial army got unlucky if they arrived an hour or two earlier they would have the chance to occupy the city until the admins noticed something odd about player locations. The only thing the captured players could do is wait for help in the form of tired players from work or school wanting to shoot off some anger and fatigue. But they wouldn't come in about another 10 to 30 minutes.

Llenn for example doesn't immediately get on GGO, when she gets home until her studying and homework is finished, and that would be at least another hour. People like Pitohui wouldn't get on for days because of her busy life as a singer, M is constantly with her so chances of him getting on are slim. ZEMAL, MMTM, or SHINC wouldn't come on as well till all the stuff they do in real life is done.

Although one dedicated player is related to these players, Fukajiro.

"Such a great day to be in GGO! I will shoot, shoot, shoot my grenade launchers till I run out of ammo!" She happily sang.

She then got suspicious there would at least be one creep trying to buy her account but there was no one in the city. Or even a few players hangin around near the spawn.

"I guess life was much busier so I guess no ones online right now." Even on the busiest days, or national holidays there would at least be a few people online, but no one was on right now so it was strange.

"Hey you! Get over here!" Said someone in an alleyway.

Fuka turned her attention to the man asking her, it was the salesman who she bought her grenade launchers from.

"Hey I recognize I bought my grenade launchers from you!" She said while running up to him.

He started to shush her.

"Come with me. They may find us." He whispered.

"They may find us? There is no NPC that can enter the city!" She said, well there was no one in sight so she had no worries.

"The Romans." He said quietly.

"Wait, the Romans! Here in SDC Glocken! I thought we beat them at the Canyon!" She said surprised.

"Wait, you met them?" He said while ushering her into the alley, and then into the discreet gun shop. He closed the door and locked it. Since the doors were an immortal object they hoped it wouldn't break but just to be careful they placed a cabinet in front of it.

"Yes I did and they were very easy to kill!" She said, I mean they were since they could barely get close to us the only way they could really damage us was with their Rock Golem but even then it was destroyed by an anti material rifle.

"Multiple players have been killed then captured, they most likely are unable to log out since their hands are tied."

"Wait, isn't that illegal to tie players hands? Since you know they wouldn't be able to log out without the hand movements?"

"It is, and all they could do is either wait for help or wait for their amusphere to kick them out after they spend a day or two in the game."

"This situation is horrible." Fuka quietly said to herself. "But we can't just stand by and wait for the other players to get on! But I don't want to interrupt their lives so we must take these into our own hands!" Fuka declared there were a few people in the shop enough to make a squadron.

"How! We're all low level!" Said one of them.

She turned towards the person who spoke , began chuckling and began speaking in a deeper voice "Did you boys forget who I am?" She asked them.

It took the other men in the room a few seconds to realize who this blonde little girl was, till one of them finally answered.

"Wait! Your Fukajiro, you participated in the Second Squad Jam with Llenn, and got second place!"

"Precisely. You have a pro with you so be prepared!"

Everybody else cheered.

"But wait, what are we going to do?" Asked the shopkeeper.

"Well I say we free the captured players first and at the same time get players to help us." Fuka said, formulating a plan.

"So where will we go first?" Asked one of the men.

"I say we get help from players then we free the captives"

"When we free the captives, how will we protect them? That's the question?"

"Hey shopkeeper, do you have any automatics that anyone could carry?"

"I have lots, I also sell some common guns that have been modified but I mostly specialize in rare guns." The shopkeeper said.

"Alright good, we'll need those guns. Who has a high strength stat here to the point where you could hold guns and ammo."

One of the men raised his hand, he looked like M' twin brother if this was real life. "I have a high strength stat as I want to carry anti material rifles but I don't have any right now so I'm just preparing." The man said.

"Alright good I want you to fill your inventory up to full with weapons and ammo, since I am at full capacity from grenades alone." She said,

"Alright." Was all his response.

"Alright! Let operation Free GGO begin!" She yelled, causing a cheer from the men.

Imperial Camp at the Outskirts of SDC Glocken

Imperial Calender 886

A player looked out at the wastelands of GGO, he was a captive. His hands were tied behind his back, so he couldn't log out nor make any resistance at all. What's with these NPCs I'm pretty sure Zaskar knows it's illegal to restrict the players ability to log out when they want to! He screamed inwardly.

He looked up and there was another player in the Roman carriage, he too had the look of worry on his face. He could tell what he was thinking. Would he be able to log out? Will my family forcefully take me out of the game since I am late for dinner?

Then he got a message from his mother saying she needs my help with chores, typically he wouldn't be happy doing them but this was preferable than being stuck in a game for an entire day, he prayed that his mother would forcefully take him out of the game. Then an idea came to him, his hands were tied so he couldn't use the menu but voice assistance such as Siri could possibly work so you could log out via voice if your computer supports it. So he tried.

"Hey cortana!" He yelled. No response he then tried it out in English "Hey cortana!" He yelled again and she didn't respond.

Then the other person on the carriage began talking "There's no use, voice assistance only responds when the menu is open." The other player said solemnly.

He began to cry, he felt tears run down his face. The amount of attention to details the devs put in distracted his mind for a second but the despair soon came back.

Then he was hit in the side of the head by a Roman and was told something in Latin.

The carriage was moving through the wastelands; he hoped for a monster to spawn and attack the caravan, and his wish from the unknown spawn algorithm answered his call with the alligators that made the undersides of the ancient tanks their homes. They jumped out at the disturbance attacking the Romans and their horses.

Panic began to spread throughout the ranks of the Roman forces. He was thrown into the air he hoped he would either die from fall damage or get killed by the alligators.

The Romans didn't know that there were hazards in GGO since they weren't players nor NPCs as a result the game didn't realize they were there till the players passed by with them that the AI realized someone was passing by.

"Dawn your spears men, we shall take this beast out!" Yelled a commander. A wall of spears towards the giant alligator was formed. The beast charged towards the wall of spears casually breaking though their formations and charging towards the players taking them out in one hit. The players had a look of happiness on their face.

When they respawned what they found surrounding them was more Romans preparing to charge at them. He then brought up his menu before his invincibility would wear off. And within 4 seconds he exited the game of GGO, along with his inmate.
