Chapter Three: Tails Is Here
The next morning, Sonic was asleep in the guest room, and he slowly woke up. He yawns, and then he got out of bed, and he walked towards the bathroom, which was in his room. He went in for a shower, and was in there for ten minutes.
After he was done with the shower, he got out, and grabs a towel to dry himself off. After he uses the towel, he then puts on a bathrobe, and he went back into the room, and he then grabs his cell phone. He looked up his contacts, and selects the contact he's looking for. It rings for around ten seconds, and then someone answered.
"Sonic, hello!" the voice stated on the other side.
"Hello, Tails." Sonic responded.
"Sonic, are you alright? And, where are you? You were all over the news last night." Tails wondered.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Tails. As for where I am, I am on Angel Island. I'm at Knuckles' and Tikal's palace." Sonic mentioned.
"Why are you there, Sonic? You should have came to my workshop." Tails thought.
"Well, I couldn't come to yours, because the police know where you are, and they'd likely search you first. And I can't go to anyone else's house either, because the police know where they are too. So Knuckles was the only choice I had." Sonic told him.
"OK, well, do you want me to come visit you there?" Tails asked.
"Yeah, it would be better to tell you what really happened, with you here." Sonic replied.
"OK, I will be there shortly." Tails told him.
"Thank you, Tails. See you soon." Sonic finished.
Sonic then went downstairs, and he sees Tikal in the kitchen. She was making waffles for breakfast. She turns around, and sees Sonic.
"Ah, good morning, Sonic." Tikal smiled.
"Good morning, Tikal. I have just called Tails, he will be here shortly. I gathered it would be better to tell him the full story in person." Sonic explained.
"Well, it's nice that you've kept to your word. Now, would you like some breakfast?" Tikal asked.
"That would be great. The waffles smell amazing." Sonic stated, happily.
After that, Sonic sat on the chair, at the table, Tikal placed the syrup, and the waffles on a plate, and placed it on the table in front of Sonic. Sonic spent twenty minutes eating his waffles, and then after insisting to Tikal, Sonic agreed to wash his plate.
"The waffles were amazing, Tikal. Thank you." Sonic thanked.
"Any time, Sonic. Knuckles and Amber should be awake shortly." Tikal mentioned.
Sonic then heard his phone vibrate. He then checks it.
"Ah, Tails is here!" Sonic stated.
"He's here already? But, I didn't hear the Tornado land here." Tikal wondered.
"He landed on a different area of Angel Island. He didn't want the loud noise of the plane to wake Amber." Sonic explained.
"OK, well, stay safe, Sonic." Tikal told him.
"I will." Sonic promised.
After that, he sped off towards where Tails was. Tails had actually landed on the opposite side of the island, and at the edge. Sonic made it towards him, and he jumps onto the wing of the Tornado. Tails then started the engine, and the plane started flying off at high speed. Tails mainly just circled around the island.
"What's up, Tails?" Sonic stated.
"Great seeing you too, Sonic." Tails responded.
"Anyway, no more wasting time, time to tell the story." Sonic mentioned.
"OK, Sonic. So slowly, what has happened?" Tails mentioned.
"Well, as you already know, I have just foiled Eggman's plans, again, and then I confronted him, and out of nowhere, in the shadows, somebody stabbed Eggman in the back, with a knife, and they disappeared, and the police came, and they accused me of doing it. So I am on the run, I have no idea what I am going to do, because if I go back, the police will capture me." Sonic explained.
"Well, the first thing we have to do, is to prove your innocence. I have actually started building a lie detector test. One that would be 100% accurate. If I can somehow get this to work, and we air this on TV, it'll prove you innocent." Tails stated.
"You made a lie detector? Well, where is it?" Sonic wondered.
"I have it here. It's incomplete, but it is just as well you mentioned you're at Angel Island, because a lot of elements I need are actually here." Tails mentioned.
"But?" Sonic added.
"Well, the bad news is that they're not easy to find. So it could take days, weeks, months, or even years to find." Tails explained again.
"Well, however long it takes, just as long as we get this done." Sonic hoped.
"We will, Sonic." Tails told him.
"I sure hope the others don't change their opinions about me." Sonic stated with worry.
"What do you mean?" Tails thought.
"Like for example, Amy, she was always one who was head over heels over me. But after the news, I doubt she'll feel the same way." Sonic mentioned.
"I doubt that, Sonic. When you were on the news, and went missing, Amy actually called me, asking me about you, or if I knew where you were. She was worried about you. As for Cream, who you know I'm dating now, she doesn't believe for a second that you done this." Tails told him.
"Well, I'm glad. But what worries me, is that what if I was with Amy? My enemies would target her, and I would regret it, if anything should happen to her. I do care about her. I care about her a lot. I just, don't know how to express myself to her, without worrying about my enemies. Especially one who is a murderer." Sonic stated, sadly.
"Well, we will stop them, Sonic. And one day, like me, and Knuckles, you will be with the one you love. I know it." Tails smiled.

You stand out of view, looking over the edge
Watching all these stars fall on to the palm of your hands

Tails blasted off the plane in high speed, to cheer Sonic up, knowing Sonic loves his speed. Which it did, to some extent.

Well this eve has came, and we have looked on
For the place to watch the comets race
Through stained glass eyes and window panes
In an old dark house that's far away

Has the roof gave way?
I've heard the bricks shatter in the waterway
These stars take shape

Paint on the walls have peeled away
Which reveals the vastness of space
Though the light is seen in the night

After a long flight, Sonic and Tails made their way back on the island, and Tails landed a few miles away from the palace, not too close, knowing Amber will most likely cry at the noise. Sonic jumps off the wing, and Tails jumps out of the cockpit. While they landed, Knuckles was outside the palace, and approaches the both of them.
"Tails! It's been a long time!" Knuckles greeted.
He shakes Tails' hand, and friendly embraced him.
"It sure has. I am sorry I don't visit often, I have been very busy with technology, and Cream." Tails explained.
"That's no worries. Just drop by when you can. That is all we ask." Knuckles smiled.
"Anyway, Knuckles, I explained to Sonic about what we have planned. I have been in the works of building a lie detector test, one that is 100% accurate. And the elements I need are actually on your island." Tails mentioned.
"OK, and what elements are those?" Knuckles wondered.
"It's only five things. We need molten rock from the Lava Reef, sand from Sandopolis, a piece of mushroom from Mushroom Hill, dirt from Red Mountain, and a gem from the Hidden Palace." Tails explained.
"Well, I can give you one that I have now, which is the gem. The other things, you will need to explore the place, and find those." Knuckles told him.
"Oh, you're a legend, Knuckles!" Tails exclaimed happily.
"Would those areas still be around, knowing how we first met?" Sonic wondered.
"Oh, yeah. The people have rebuilt all the damages that happened then. So, everything you'll need should be there." Knuckles explained.
"Oh, well then that is handy." Sonic stated, with a faint smile.
"Tails! Lovely to see you here!" Tikal exclaimed, as she walked outside with Amber in her arms.
"Hello, Tikal." Tails replied.
He walked towards Tikal, and he placed a kiss on her cheek. He then looks down at Amber, and he tickles her belly, making her chuckle with joy. Tails couldn't help but laugh back.
"Oh, my! She is adorable!" Tails stated.
"She's a handful, but me and Knuckles wouldn't change her for anything." Tikal smiled.
"Anyway, Tikal, I am looking for elements for building a lie detector test. I may need to spend a few days here, in order to collect those. If that's no problem with you, or Knuckles?" Tails wondered.
"Oh, no. That's totally fine, Tails. I know it'll be an adventure for you, and you don't wanna keep going back and forth, so by all means." Knuckles insisted.
"Thank you, Knuckles. Well, I'll go set my tools in one of the spare rooms, and then get to work a little later." Tails stated.
"Well, I'll go for a little run around Angel Island, I'll be right back. "Sonic stated, as he dashed away.
"There's breakfast on the kitchen table for you, Tails, if you'd like to have some. Waffles, and syrup." Tikal told him.
"I will do that, thank you. I haven't even had breakfast today." Tails mentioned.
Tails made his way up the stairs, and he entered the nearest spare room that he was near by. Once he got into the room, he placed all his tools, and his unfinished lie detector on the bed. He heard his phone vibrate, and he took it out to read it.
Tails, I am so worried! Have you heard anything from Sonic?

Tails knew Amy was worried all night about him, and he didn't want to leave her hanging, so he sent a reply to her text.
He is OK, Amy. Sonic is with me here, on Angel Island, in Knuckles and Tikal's palace. You may come and visit him, if you like.
Tails then made his way downstairs, to have breakfast, which was the waffles and syrup that Tikal made earlier. Amy then shortly replied to the text.
Thank you Tails. I will be there ASAP.
