Chapter Ten: Here I Am
Sonic was walking slowly towards Amy, as Amy was still on all fours, crying uncontrollably, with her eyes filled with tears, and the tears flow out of her eyes. As Sonic got closer to Amy, he was now just behind her.
Sonic wasn't sure what to do at this moment, so his instincts told him to try and comfort her. He reached his hand out towards Amy, and placed his hand gently on her shoulder. Amy then looks up in surprise, and sees Sonic.
"Sonic, what are you doing here?" Amy wondered.
"I just wanted to make sure you were safe." Sonic mentioned.
"You heard everything I said, didn't you?" Amy sadly stated.
"I won't lie to you, yes, I did." Sonic replied.
"I'm so embarrassed! I'm sorry, Sonic. I just can't help how I feel about you. But even till now, nothing has changed. I still love you, but I don't know about you, or the reason why you don't feel the same way. Is it something I did wrong? Did I scare you? Is there someone else you like, that I don't know about? What is wrong with me, Sonic? I need to know the truth." Amy pleaded, sadly.
Sonic then placed his hands underneath Amy's arms, and helped her stand back up. Sonic then stares into Amy's jade green eyes, with a serious look on his face.
"Amy, don't ever blame yourself for the reason, because it's not you. It's me." Sonic told her.
"What do you mean? It has to be me that was the reason. Because all I do is harass you, and force you for marriage. How could it not be me?" Amy wondered.
"Well, I promise you, it's not you, it is me. I was the immature one, and should never have taken you for granted. But the real reason I couldn't get romantically involved with you, or anyone for that matter, is because being the young hedgehog I was, I wasn't use to female attention, nor did I know how to respond to it." Sonic started.
"You didn't know how to respond to a girl who had a crush on you?" Amy wondered.
"You can put it like that, yes. And the main reason I couldn't, is not because I wanted to hurt you. I couldn't, because I wanted to protect you." Sonic added.
"What do you mean by protect me?" Amy thought.
"Because, me being the hero of Mobius, and Station Square, I know that I am going to have a lot of enemies. And if I had any kind of romantic connection with you, or any woman for that matter, my enemies could use you, or them as an easy target, to get to me. And if anything happened to you, I would regret it for the rest of my life. What would happen if I wasn't fast enough to rescue you, or anybody?" Sonic sadly stated.
"All that, because you wanted to protect me? Well, why is it that you didn't tell me sooner, Sonic? I would have understood you, and not harass you as much." Amy mentioned.
"I know you would. But me as a young kid, I didn't know at the time, you know? I didn't want to say anything, in case it hurt you, or worse, broke your heart. It would destroy me as much as it would you." Sonic sadly stated, again.
"That's fair enough. I would have felt sad, but I wouldn't have been broken hearted. Because I loved you so much, I would have respected your decision, because I know you're doing it for a good purpose." Amy stated.
"But what got me the most, Amy, was seeing you cry. And hearing you express everything you have just said, it made me feel sad inside as well. Like, have I really made you feel this way for that long? You actually was in love with me, and not just an obsessed fan girl you were, when we were younger? Did I really take your love for granted, and treated you like dirt, when I missed our dates?" Sonic mentioned.
"I didn't think it would affect you as much as it did." Amy thought.
"And it does. And it's for a good reason. You're right. You're absolutely right. As you expressed yourself, I felt your pain along with it. I literally did. As you were crying, I felt like crying with you as well." Sonic stated, as he tried to hold back tears.
"Sonic, please, don't do that." Amy stated, as she noticed his tears.
"But, I have to. I can't bottle it up inside much longer. So just hear me out." Sonic told her.

(Sonic singing)
Mmm, mmm
.
Amy was getting quite concerned. Why was Sonic crying as much as he was, and what was he about to say? Sonic placed his hands on Amy's shoulders, and looks at her directly in her eyes. His tears were more visible now for Amy to see them.

(Sonic singing)

Sonic then surprisingly grabs hold of both of Amy's hands, and be walks backwards, leading Amy towards a nearby park. This park was filled with flowers, and grass. Sonic opened the gate, and both he and Amy make their way inside.
As Amy looks around, she sees the grass, and sees the flowers, and sees the trees. She also sees a river nearby. She then turns her attention back to Sonic, who even though has tears in his eyes, he smiles warmly at Amy.

Sonic still has tears flowing from his eyes. Amy noticed how much was flowing, and this made her gasp in surprise. She has never seen Sonic cry before in her life, ever. And this made Amy's eyes filled with tears as well.

(Sonic singing)

Sonic then held onto Amy's hand, and walks her up the stairs in the park, that leads to a tree, on top of a hill. As they both made it towards the tree, they both stood underneath it for shade. Sonic still holds Amy's hand, and they look all around the park, admiring the beautiful view.

(Sonic singing)
I will not go any place
I just hate seeing you like this
I may not make it go away
Oh, but keeping this inside won't fix it
I cannot give you all the answers that you need
But I will hear everything you need to tell me

Sonic and Amy sat down on the ground, still admiring the view. As they both looked at the view, and they both smiled warmly.

Sonic and Amy then turn to face one another, eyes still filled with tears.

Sonic then stands up, and he pulled Amy up with him. Sonic has both hands on her shoulders, and his emerald green eyes stared into Amy's jade green ones.

(Sonic singing)
You need love strong enough to count on

Sonic then placed his forehead against Amy's, as a little embrace. He has tears flowing from his eyes. This really caught Amy by surprise.

(Sonic singing)
So here I am
.
When Sonic sang that line, Amy gasped in surprise. She never thought he'd ever say anything like that.
"Sonic, are you being serious right now?" Amy asked.
She has happy tears flowing from her eyes.

(Sonic singing)

Sonic then, while still holding both of Amy's hands, he moves about, making a playful little dance with her. This caught Amy by surprise, but she decided to go along with it.

(Sonic singing)

Sonic and Amy stop their playful dance, and Sonic once again places his forehead against Amy's. Sonic still having tears flowing from his eyes, and so did Amy. Amy never thought she'd see the day that Sonic would ever express the way he is right now.

And then out of nowhere, Sonic grabs Amy underneath both arms, and he playfully lifts her into the air, and swings her around. Amy squealed in surprise, but she then giggled in excitement.

(Sonic singing)

Sonic then puts Amy down, and then he placed his head down, and rested on her shoulder. He then wraps his arms around her head, and again, this caught Amy by surprise. But she eventually got use to the feeling, and then she wraps her arms around Sonic's waist. This was the first time they've ever embraced, in a more romantic vibe.

(Sonic singing)

They embraced there for a while, until Amy heard Sonic sobbing. Amy then relaxed the embrace a little bit, so she could look at Sonic's face. Sonic was actually crying.
"I'm sorry, Amy. I'm so sorry for everything I have ever done to you. I'm so sorry for ever hurting you the way I have. I should have realised it sooner. I should have been the man you wanted me to be, and not what I was then." Sonic sobbed.
"Sonic, it's alright. I understand your reasons. We were still young, even I admit that I've made a few mistakes as well then. I shouldn't have been overly obsessed with you. And I am sorry for that. I have been thankful to you every single day, since the day you've rescued me from Metal Sonic, on Little Planet. Sure, it was a crush when I first saw you, but after you rescued me, it became true love." Amy mentioned.
Sonic then released the embrace, and he holds Amy's face in his hands. This really caught Amy by surprise. All Amy could do was look into Sonic's eyes.
"Then, I guess it's time for me to return the favour. Something I should have done a long time ago." Sonic stated.
Sonic then leaned his head towards Amy's face, and then Sonic brought his lips closer to Amy's. As they got closer, Sonic's lips gently pressed against hers. This really caught Amy by surprise, as this was not only her first kiss, but her first kiss was with the only man she has ever loved.
Amy closed her eyes slowly, and she sank into the kiss. Sonic also thought the same thing, being his first kiss. They have felt fireworks going off in their heads. After a minute of kissing, they released the kiss, and Sonic embraced Amy close. Amy returned it.
"I love you, Amy Rose. I always have. I should have done this sooner, because not only has this relieved the pressure built in for so long, but it's made me stronger." Sonic stated.
Amy was stunned silent after hearing that. She has never in her life thought she'd ever hear Sonic say this.
"I love you too, Sonic the Hedgehog." Amy replied.
The two kept embracing one another closely, for about two minutes. Sonic released the embrace, lightly, and he gently pressed his lips against Amy's again, for yet another loving, passionate kiss. After a minute, they both released the kiss, and looked into one another's eyes. They both smiled warmly.
"That, I will get use to." Amy smiled.
"As will I." Sonic responded.
"Anyway, Sonic, I think we have wasted enough time here. We really should be getting back to the palace, and bring these mushrooms to Tails." Amy mentioned.
Sonic then gently lifts Amy up, while Amy was holding the mushrooms in the bags she and Sonic were carrying earlier.
"OK, well, to the palace it is. We'll talk more about this later. Right now, we need to get my innocence proven. You don't wanna be accused of dating an assumed convict." Sonic mentioned.
Amy nodded in agreement. And after that, Sonic dashed off at high speed, with Amy in his arms, making their way back to the palace. Now that all the elements are gathered, it is now up to Tails to finish the lie detector.
