Chapter Thirteen: The Lie Detector
The next morning, Tails was attaching Sonic to a few cables. This was the lie detector that Tails has spent all night working on. Everyone else, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Cream, Rouge and Tikal were there with them. Radger was out in the park with Amber, taking her for a walk.
"OK, Tails, what's the idea here then?" Sonic wondered.
"OK, so what we're planning, the President is in Station Square as of now, making his speech. And there are screens behind him. I have rigged the screens to show you on camera. And I will read out the questions to you, and you answer them." Tails explained.
"Isn't that a little too risky, Tails? Interrupting the President's speech?" Knuckles wondered.
"It is, yes. But he's making a speech now about how they must stop Sonic at all cost, but this will prove him innocent." Tails stated.
"Well, let's hope this works." Amy hoped.
Tails then turned on the TV, and the President was making his speech.
"Sonic the Hedgehog has to be stopped at all cost! If he is capable of murdering Eggman, who knows who may be next?" he stated.
The crowed cheered in support. Tails looked at Sonic, and nodded.
"Are you ready, Sonic?" Tails asked.
"Ready when you are." Sonic replied.
The green light next to Sonic lit up, which indicates that Sonic was telling the truth. Tails Chuckled.
"Well, least we know it's working." Tails stated.
Tails then pushed a button next to him, and then on TV, the screen behind the President was now showing Sonic on screen. The audience gasped, and the President turned around, and he also gasped. It also shows everyone else that was in the room.
"What is the meaning of this?!" the President wondered, in anger.
"Mr. President, no need to be alarmed. We apologise for interrupting your speech. But what we're aiming for here, we're trying to prove that Sonic was innocent." Tails explained.
"And how can you do that? Sonic was the only one there, the night it happened." the President wondered.
"I'm glad you asked, Mr. President. I have been working on this lie detector all night, and..." he was cut off.
"A lie detector? What are you trying to prove here, Tails? You know those things aren't 100% accurate, what makes this one any different? Why do you think they never get used in court?" he wondered.
"This is no ordinary lie detector, sir. This one has been mixed with everything magical on Angel Island. So mixing it with my lie detector, no matter what the question and answers are, it will always give the answer, 100%. And in case you think we've tampered with it, you can see everyone here in the room with me, they have nothing of any kind to tamper with it, not even me." Tails mentioned.
"OK, so, enlighten us, Tails. Let's reveal what a liar Sonic is." the President demanded.
The audience booed at Sonic. Tails then turned to Sonic, with a list of questions in his hand.
"OK, we will start with something easy, to show you we're not tampering with this. OK, is your name Sonic the Hedgehog?" Tails asked.
"Yes." Sonic answered.
The green light lights up next to him.
"And what do those lights mean, Tails?" the President asked.
"Green light means he's telling the truth, and the red light means he's lying." Tails replied.
"OK, well, do continue." he told him.
"OK, now, Sonic, were you born in Mobius?" Tails asked again.
"Yes." Sonic replied.
The green light glows once again, indicating Sonic was telling the truth.
"Tails, ask something, and I will deliberately lie, to show how it works." Sonic told him.
"OK, right, is your name Shadow the Hedgehog?" Tails chuckled.
"Sorry, Shadow. But, yes, my name is Shadow the Hedgehog." Sonic replied, while chuckling.
The red light then glows, which indicates that Sonic was lying.
"Huh! Very funny, Sonic!" Shadow stated.
"Right, back to being serious. Sonic, were you there the night when Eggman was stabbed?" Tails asked again, seriously.
"Yes." Sonic replied.
The light glows green once again.
"Now for the question everyone wants to know. Sonic the Hedgehog, did you stab Dr. Eggman the other night?" Tails asked him.
"No." Sonic replied.
Everyone looked on, especially the President, who was the one who demanded that Sonic was to be found, and locked up for his crimes. As they waited, they were in shock when they saw the light was glowing green.
"How is that possible?!" the President stated in shock.
"Did you take part of stabbing Eggman?" Tails asked again.
"No." Sonic replied again.
And once again, the light was glowing green.
"Do you know who stabbed Dr. Eggman?" Tails asked once again.
"No, I don't know who stabbed Dr. Eggman!" Sonic replied, impatiently.
"Sonic, calm down. These are questions they need to know, in case they think you had something to do with it." Tails advised.
"OK, I'm sorry." Sonic replied.
"OK, it's fine. Now Sonic, did you ever have thoughts on murdering Eggman?" Tails asked again.
"No, I have never once had any thoughts of murdering him. I have no intentions of murdering him. I may not like him, but I wouldn't want him dead." Sonic explained.
And for the final time, the light turns green, which has now proven that Sonic was innocent.
"There you go, Mr. President. Sonic is innocent. He did not try to murder Eggman that night, and he had nothing to do with it, and he doesn't know who done it." Tails finished.
Sonic took the cables off himself, and he stood up.
"If I had wanted to murder Eggman, I would have done it a long time ago! Why would I start now, when he's to old to even defend himself?!" Sonic stated, sternly.
"This can't be. If Sonic hadn't done it, then who would?" the President wondered.
The audience even gasped in shock, knowing they were wrong to judge Sonic for this wrong reason.
"The one who would murder Eggman, would be me!" a mysterious voice said out of nowhere.
It was coming from where Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Cream, Tikal and Rouge were.
"Girls, you stay here, and do not move from here. This could be dangerous!" Knuckles told them.
Radger had just made it home in time, and he handed Amber over to Tikal, who Tikal embraced closely. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Tikal made their way outside, and they saw where the voice was coming from. The sky turned red black, even though it was still the afternoon.
This figure appeared in a red and black aura, and then it slowly was revealing itself.

(Mystery Voice yelling)
It's time, it's time

After the aura fully evaporated, there in the air floating was a jackal, with black fur. He also has a white pattern on his back, resembling a ribcage, he has a bushy tail with five white tips, long white dreadlocks, he wears a white collar around his neck, and black gloves that has silver designs. He also wears silver and black high tops.
But what stood out to everyone, is he was wearing a silver coloured mask, with white and black circled shaped patterns inside both ears, both eyes were lightning bold shaped, although his right eye was covered with a plain black lightning bolt, and his left eye was visible with a red eyes, and a yellow iris. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow gasped in shock.
"INFINITE!" they all stated.
"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" Infinite chuckled.

What made you think that this'll all work out in the end?
You're scared to feel bad, better off to try and pretend
I'm immortal, immune to all things that's wrong

Infinite then raised both his hands up, and to the four hero's surprise, he actually has all of the seven Chaos Emeralds surrounding him. The four gasped in shock again.

(Infinite singing/yelling)

"But, how?!" Knuckles thought.
"This cannot be happening!" Shadow added.
"He's got all the Emeralds!" Tails mentioned.
"This is not good!" Sonic finished.

And now I'm bleeding on myself here once again
Feels I've trusted another deceitful friend
My fault, I should have known this deal
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, for real
Sounds easy, but nothing can be so hard
Tried to guess life's dealing, what's the next card?
I'm slowly folding.
I don't like this hand at all.

Infinite then swung his arm towards a nearby forest, and a bolt of lightning hits it. As soon as the lightning hits, the entire forest caught fire.

(Infinite singing)

Infinite looks at the Emeralds surrounding him, and he chuckles evilly to himself.

Maybe things happen for a reason

The light surrounding him glows brighter, and it more or less blinded the four heroes. They all groaned in pain. Infinite laughs evilly.

WHY DON'T YOU THINK ABOUT THIS?!

Infinite was now glowing a purple red aura flowing around himself, and his dreadlocks pointed upwards, his mask turned pearl white, his left eye turned just plain red, with no iris, right eye on the mask was now a black outline, and inside was silver, and his black fur turned pale gold. The four heroes gasped in fear at the sight of this.
"He has achieved a super form?!" Knuckles thought.
"That is not good at all!" Shadow added.
"What are we going to do now?!" Tails wondered.
"Infinite, why are you here?! And what is the meaning of all this?!" Sonic demanded.
"Well, I am glad you have asked that, Sonic. But, good to see you're proven innocent, after what I had to do to poor Eggman." Infinite chuckled.
Sonic gasped in surprise, and he remembered that night. He remembered seeing a claw right through Eggman, and saw the exact same claws on Infinite's gloves.
"So it was you! You were the one who framed me!" Sonic snarled.
"Indeed. That was just to create a diversion, so I can go on my hunt for all of the seven Chaos Emeralds. And now I have all of the Emerald's powers, there is nobody who can stop me! Not even you, Shadow!" Infinite chuckled.
"Damn you!" Shadow snarled.
"So, you risked murdering Eggman, just for the sake of collecting the seven Emeralds?!" Knuckles asked, in anger.
"Well, it's not like I wanted to, but if that's what it takes to be Infinite, pun intended, then so be it. Now I am the most powerful being in the universe! Nobody can stop me!" Infinite chuckles evilly.
"What are we supposed to do now?" Tails wondered.
"I have no idea, buddy. But whatever it is, it's not gonna be easy." Sonic replied.
