Chapter Fourteen: No Hope Now
Infinite has absorbed the power of the Chaos Emeralds, and is now in his super form. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow look on with worry.
"OK, how are we going to deal with him?" Shadow wondered.
"Well, the Emerald's powers are limited, remember?" Knuckles mentioned.
"That's right! We'll wait till his powers run out." Tails added.
"Yeah, but we'll have to distract him somehow. Because he isn't gonna just stand there, and let his powers run out." Sonic stated.
"That's true. So what do you three suppose we do then?" Knuckles thought.
"Well, we're gonna have to try and fight him." Shadow thought.
"You're crazy, right, Shadow? I could barely take him in his regular form, what chance would any of us have in his super form?" Sonic wondered.
"Well, it'll hold him off long enough, until his super form dies down." Shadow added.
"As true as that may be, is that really worth us getting killed because of it?" Knuckles thought.
"Well, there's not much of an option we can do. The Emeralds have no power in them. So it's not like we can just take the Emeralds and use their powers." Tails mentioned.
"But I have a daughter. I can't risk dying, and have Tikal raising a child as a single mother." Knuckles stated with worry.
"You won't, Knuckles." Sonic told him.
"And how do you know that I won't?" Knuckles asked.
"Because I won't stop fighting. All four of us together, we will get through this, one way, or the other." Sonic told him, with confidence.
"Well, if you're in, I'm in." Shadow stated.
"As will I." Tails added.
"You guys are crazy for even considering this. But then again, I am no different, so why does it matter? So I might as well. For Tikal, and Amber." Knuckles agreed.
Sonic places his hand forward, then Tails placed his on Sonic's, then Knuckles placed his on Tails', and then Shadow placed his on Knuckles', as they were forming a pact to fight against Infinite, whether he was super, or not.
After that, the four raised their hands up, as an official agreement. Then they all turned to face Infinite. Infinite was just floating there, chuckling to himself.
"And what are you four so confident about? I sure hope you four aren't thinking of some kind of strategy to defeat me. Because you'd be wasting your time." Infinite stated.
"Whether we are, or not, that does not concern you! What you should be worried about is what happens next!" Knuckles exclaimed in anger.
With that, he charged toward Infinite, and he threw multiple punches, but Infinite was dodging every single one of them. After a few seconds of dodging all of Knuckles' punches, Infinite then elbows Knuckles in the back of the head, and Knuckles fell to the floor, and then he kicks him while he's down, and Knuckles flew towards Sonic, Tails and Shadow.
"Knuckles, are you OK?" Sonic called.
Tails then rushed towards Infinite, and he tried whipping his tails towards Infinite, as if it a bull whip, but unfortunately, Infinite grabbed a hold of both of his tails, and he then swings him, and throws him towards the tree, that was next to Shadow.
"Tails, you OK?" Shadow stated with worry.
"Right, you have gone and done it this time, you bastard!" Shadow snarled.
Shadow then charged towards Infinite, and he threw multiple Chaos Spears towards him. It hit him, but it never hurt him. Shadow then began to glow a red aura. He then looks at Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.
"You three! Take cover!" Shadow warned.
"Shadow, what are you doing?!" Sonic wondered.
"SONIC, TAKE COVER NOW!" Knuckles called, as he grabbed Sonic, and pulled him behind a boulder.
"He is going for the..." Tails started, but was cut off.
"CHAOS BLAST!" Shadow yelled.
After that, a huge energy blast exploded all around Shadow. A few trees were knocked over, dirt and soil flew into the air, and the sound was very loud. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles ducked for cover, making sure not to feel the impact of the blast.
After a short while, the sound had disappeared, and they all then looked over the boulder, to see the area that was destroyed. They saw Shadow standing there, panting heavily.
"Shadow, are you OK?" Tails wondered.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Shadow replied.
"What about Infinite?" Knuckles thought.
"I'm fine, also!" Infinite chuckled, as he appeared in front of Shadow, out of nowhere.
"But, how?!" Shadow stated in shock.
Infinite then punches Shadow in the stomach, and then kicks him so hard, Shadow flew into the boulder that Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were hiding behind.
"Shadow!" Knuckles called with worry.
"Right, my turn to try!" Sonic called.
Sonic then charges towards Infinite, and threw multiple punches, and kicks towards him. But no matter how hard Sonic tried, not one of his hits laid a single blow against him. Infinite chuckles evilly.
"What is so funny?!" Sonic asked, angrily.
"Did you not realise it yet, Sonic? You are no match against me. No matter how hard you try, or how hard you plan your ideas, or next attack, they will never work, just like how you will never win." Infinite explained.
"And how do you know what is possible, or not, Infinite?! The fact of life is, you will never know what will, or what will not work, unless you try!" Sonic responded.
Sonic threw another punch, but Infinite just grabs it.
"What you don't realise, Sonic, dreams, and imaginations are one thing, delusions are a completely different matter. Your mind is delusional, along with your three friends here. No matter how hard you wish for something, it will never face against the reality of what is going on here." Infinite chuckles.
After he explained that, Infinite just kicks Sonic in the stomach, and Sonic collapsed to the ground. Infinite then rolls Sonic, until he was now laying on his back. Infinite stood above him, and he began to throw multiple punches to Sonic's face.
"SONIC!" Tails called in fear.
Tails then ran towards Infinite, trying to lay in another punch towards him, but Infinite raised his hand, and used a shockwave to knock Tails backwards. Knuckles and Shadow also tried running towards him, but Infinite did the same thing to them.
Infinite kept on beating Sonic, into a bloody pulp. Sonic has a black eye, and blood was gushing from his mouth, and his forehead. Infinite then stopped beating Sonic up, and he then lifts up Sonic, and threw him towards Tails, Knuckles and Shadow. Sonic landed right on Knuckles, and Knuckles groans in pain.
"Now I will rule this world! I will live up to my name, and become infinite! Not Dr. Eggman, as he does not deserve world domination, for the amount of times his plan has failed! Such a fool, for someone who claims to have an IQ of 300! And now that I have all the powers of the Chaos Emeralds, I shall do one more thing, which thank you four for being so close to Knuckles' home, by the way." Infinite chuckled.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Knuckles wondered.
"The servers are the Seven Chaos! Chaos is Power! Power is enriched by the heart! The controller serves to unify the Chaos! Master Emeralds, make the Chaos Emerald's powers endless, and make me immortal!" Infinite prayed, and chuckles.
"NO!" Knuckles cried out.
A green aura surrounds Infinite for ten seconds, and then it becomes red, which signifies that his powers are living up to his name, Infinite.
"No way!" Tails stated in fear.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Shadow added.
"Now what do we do?!" Sonic wondered.
"That's just it, guys. There is nothing we can do now. His powers are endless. In other words, he has won, and there is no way for us to fight this power anymore." Knuckles sadly mentioned.
"So, there is literally no way of stopping this?" Shadow asked.
"Unfortunately, that is the case, Shadow. Once someone has the Chaos Emerald's powers, and they summon the Master Emerald to power the Emeralds for their power, there is no changing it. Especially for what Infinite has used it for." Knuckles stated.
"God-fucking-damn it! You mean after everything that I have gone through, after trying to prove that I was innocent to the people of Station Square, it gives me nothing but bad luck?! Here I thought things were looking up, now I'm proven innocent, and it just got worse from there! Now we're stuck with this bullshit!" Sonic snarled.
"How am I supposed to continue protecting the world, and keep my promise to Maria now?" Shadow said to himself, sadly.
"I cannot believe this is happening right now. All this time we've been busy trying to prove Sonic's innocence, when we really should have been tracking down who was behind this crime the whole time. I feel like this was my fault." Tails sadly mentioned.
"Don't evener feel guilty about the whole thing, Tails. If anything, it was me who caused this. I should have just ran away from the scene, instead of just facing Eggman at that moment." Sonic stated.
Shadow looks up into the sky, and he looks at the stars. It formed into the shape of the Space Colony ARK, while remembering his times with Maria. Tears started to fill his eyes, as he remembered those times.

I missed when things were simpler
We've had no worries at all
Never felt that way in forever
But I've tried my best to stand tall
.
Sonic placed a hand on Tails' shoulder, in comfort. Although tears fell from Sonic's eyes, knowing this may not be a great ending for them.

(Sonic singing)
Living in this world gets harder every day
Need to remind ourselves to breathe
Wish I can turn back the time
To remember what this life was meant to me
.
"Amber isn't even a year old yet, and already, it looks as if she will never live to be an adult. I was supposed to protect them, and I can't even do that now." Knuckles sadly stated.
He then looks at the bracelet on his wrist, and sees an amber coloured stone on it, in the shape of the letter A. The A stands for Amber. Sad tears fell from Knuckles' eyes as well.

I missed when things was together
Instead of falling apart
These things that I remember
Is the struggles that made us stronger
The feeling I'll never let go

Tails dropped to all fours, and pounded the ground in anger. Sad tears falling from his eyes, as his head dropped forward in sorrow.

(Tails singing)
Living in this world gets harder every day
Need to remind ourselves to breathe
Wish I can turn back the time
To remember what this life was meant to me

Sonic just stood on his spot, and looked up at Infinite, knowing he cannot do any more to stop him. Tears continued to fall from his eyes. Infinite was chuckling evilly to himself.

(Sonic singing)
I need to remind myself to breathe
.
And with that, the four heroes could only stand and watch, as the world could crumble apart at any time now. Infinite raised his arms up, and now it started to rain, and there was thunder and lightning going off, which scared the civilians around Angel Island.
Now that Infinite has lived up to his name, by becoming infinite, and becomes the most powerful being in the universe, he proceeded into terrorising the island, and the four heroes could only watch on, knowing there was nothing more that they can do about it.
