Darkvenge
Bridge
Siv Kav couldn't believe what was happening. He had just learned that all the droids above the Vuutun Palaa had shut down with the Control Computer having been overloaded. His own droid crew had overloaded and shut down, leaving the Neimodians scrambling to try and pick up the pieces. The Vuutun Palaa's systems were overloaded and it was left crippled while his ship and the Keeper were in better condition for the most part.
"We've cut off the speakers but the transmission is still scrambling the control system for the droids." The communications officer reported.
Kav looked at the strange ship that had transmitted the signal that took out the entire droid armada. "If we destroy that ship, we destroy the signal."
"How?"
"Full speed." Kav ordered. "Take us within firing range. Gunner, target that ship."
"Our droids are-"
"Then switch to manual!" Kav barked.
Enterprise
Bridge
Kirk had just stepped onto the bridge as alarm klaxons went off. "Status."
"One of the Neimodian ships is on an intercept course. Charging their weapons." Spock reported.
"Shields?"
"Our shields are functional and raised, Keptain." Chekov replied,
"Good. I was afraid that torpedo caused more damage than I hoped." Kirk replied.
"Sick bay has responded to several casualties. No fatalities." Uhura reported.
"And the approaching ship?" Kirk sat in his command chair.
"Armed with forty two turbolaser batteries lined along the outer ring." Spock reported. "Captain, the turbolasers are a form of plasma based weaponry. Similar along lines to Romulan plasma torpedoes."
"Can our shields hold out?"
"One on one our shields can hold out but if we were to be attacked in a group and under a prolonged rate of fire our shields would not hold long and we would suffer considerable damage." Spock replied.
"Let's not take any chances. Divert auxiliary powers to deflectors." Kirk said. "Lock phasers on those weapon systems and propulsion."
"Locking phasers." Chekov reported.
Just as the Darkvenge began firing its turbolaser batteries the Enterprise surged forward, her shields soaking up the incoming fire but held. Then the ship from another galaxy returned fire, phasers lashing out and targeting the turbolaser batteries, destroying them in one hit and scorching the hull of the outer ring. The Enterprise shot around the Darkvenge, moving fast enough to dodge incoming fire as its port and rear phaser banks fired and destroyed the turbolaser batteries with pin-point accuracy. Once it reached the rear end its weapons targeted the engines and the nadion particle beams traveled up the exhaust ports, crippling the ship immediately.
Darkvenge
Bridge
Kav watched as the bridge shook, sparks flew and his crew were knocked away from their stations. This strange new ship moved with speed and grace that should have been impossible as it dodged fire from his ship and returned fire, destroying his ship's weapons and disabling his engines.
"Get us out of here!"
"I can't. The hyperdrive is leaking!"
Kav sat down, feeling hopeless as the shaking stopped and the strange ship called Enterprise had stopped firing.
He took off his five pointed hat and place it on the ground. "Then it is over. We are all dead."
No droid crew.
No fighters.
His ship had been crippled and disabled.
"…Signal our surrender."
Enterprise
Bridge
"Neimodian captain is signaling surrender. Their ships are powering down." Uhura reported.
Kirk nodded. "Stand down to Yellow Alert. Let's get to work on repairs."
What a day.
R2 immediately got to work on helping with repairs to the decks affected by Anakin's torpedo. He was with Chief Montgomery Scott and his repair team. The astromech droid that had been upgraded by V'Ger, becoming likely the most advanced droid in the universe had decided to test his capabilities for repair and it shocked and scared even him. A surge of energy appeared around him and reached out, touching the damaged sections and they were immediately repaired in a matter of seconds.
"Well, that's a bit of a light show." Scotty remarked, putting his spanner away.
"V'Ger really did give me all I'd need to fulfill my function." R2 beeped. "Being able to manipulate energy and matter to reconfigure and improve it."
"If you ask me, nothing beats the tried and true ways." Scotty remarked, holding up his tricorder and spanner.
"Don't worry. I still got those." R2 said as the many compartments on his body opened to reveal all the tools that were kept. "But this does give me a chance to see what V'Ger gave me. It absorbed information by converting everything it found into energy and it did the same with me and Master Qui-Gon. Only with me it recreated my body to have all these upgrades right down to the molecular level."
"So you can do the same? Do that energy thing it?" Scotty asked.
"Maybe but I'm not looking to find out. Upgrades or not I'm an astromech droid, programmed for navigation and maintenance." R2 stated. "I already have a full map of two universes stored in me. Speaking of, how did you guys get here? I didn't pick up a hyperdrive being installed."
"Well, after some thinking we found a way to apply our own hyperdrive with needing to install one." Scotty answered with a pleased smile.
"How was that?" R2 beeped curiously.
"Well, we applied a method of using the deflector dish to create a subspace tear similar to a method of FTL travel used by a species known as the Xindi."
"The Xindi? The species that nearly destroyed Earth in your twentieth second century?" R2 questioned.
"Aye. They used a method of FLT that worked by creating subspace vortexes. We never could figure it how and the Xindi have isolated themselves following their failed attack." Scotty continued. "Your method of hyperdrive was similar to what the Xindi did in our universe. In addition to the deflector dish being used to open a self-sealing tear into hyperspace we had to shut down the limiters on the impulse engines to make the jump into hyperspace."
"Amazing." R2 beeped with admiration. "By the way, Mr. Scott, would you be open to accidents like this?"
"How do?"
"Perhaps with a Threat Level program made for determining risks and dangers to the ship. V'Ger has come across races where they had created a special computer system for automatically powering weapons and shields. I think we can come up with something so what happened with Anakin doesn't happen again."
Spock was in his quarters, meditating as a form of light appeared before him and slowly took the shape of Qui-Gon Jinn.
Spock slowly opened his eyes. "Master Qui-Gon."
"Mister Spock." Qui-Gon smiled. "I had hoped our last talk would not truly be our last."
"Nor I. You are dead." Spock surmised. "I felt it. It seems our mind link has left us more connected than I would have thought."
"Death can be the closing of one door and the opening of another. I should thank you for if not for our mind link during my time as part of V'Ger my training would have been incomplete." Qui-Gon stated.
"Training?"
"A form of rare training. If I were to apply it scientifically energy is energy and we are no different. What you would call soul or katra, your living spirit is energy all the same. Therefore, it is logical to state that energy cannot be destroyed, no matter what form it takes." Qui-Gon began.
"Logical." Spock agreed.
"When its time for one to die that energy is released from the body, reach out and joining what I have come to call the Cosmic Force. This energy is fed by Living Force and thus those who die pass through it to become the Force. Both exist in tandem and bind everything, communicating to us through the medi-chlorians. Because of this, I can speak to you now." Qui-Gon explained.
"We have researched these medi-chlorians and found them to be emitting a low level psionic field. Unfortunately I do not believe I or anyone from our galaxy can reach that level of communication. Your immune system has adapted to them while ours would destroy them." Spock stated.
"And yet the Force has touched you, Mr. Spock just as it Lieutenant Ilia when she helped ease Mr. Chekov's pain. These natural abilities prove that the medi-chlorians are but one of many roads that the Force can manifest through and your evolution without them shows a glimpse into the possible future of your galaxy." Qui-Gon smiled. "Much like how you surmised your possible evolution after the encounter with the Voyager Six probe."
"A possible form of living after death." Spock raised an eyebrow. "Fascinating."
"An ability to retain consciousness after death, becoming part of the Living Force and can manifest myself to you." Qui-Gon nodded with a smile. "I come now to help prepare you, your ship and crew for the journey ahead."
"A journey?"
"A journey that will determine the fate of our two galaxies and beyond. A galaxy where light and darkness are unbalance and in constant struggle and the other were many take either side with no intention of good or evil as they explore what you explore." Qui-Gon explained. "The Final Frontier."
The large, grand cruiser of the Supreme Chancellor landed in the courtyard of the main hanger the next day. Captain Panaka and twenty troops were guarding Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. Obi-Wan, the Queen, Kirk, Spock and her handmaidens stand before the Neimoidians.
"Now, Viceroy, you are going to have to go back to the Senate and explain all this." Padme said.
"I think you can kiss your Trade franchise goodbye." Panaka added with considerable satisfaction.
The main ramp of the cruiser was lowered as Obi-Wan and Captain Panaka led the Viceroy and his assistant toward the ship. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and several Republic guards descended the walkway, followed by Yoda and several other Jedi Masters.
Palpatine walked up to Obi-Wan and Anakin, who are standing together. "We are indebted to you for your bravery, Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Palpatine turned to look at Anakin. He placed his hands on the boy's shoulders. "And you, young Skywalker… we will watch your career with great interest."
Obi-Wan greeted Yoda and the other Jedi as Captain Panaka took the Neimoidians onto the cruiser.
Chancellor Palpatine is greeted by the Queen. "Congratulations on your election, Chancellor. It is so good to see you again."
"It's good to be home. Your boldness has saved our people, Your Majesty. It is you who should be congratulated. Together we shall bring peace and prosperity to the Republic." Palpatine said before turning to Kirk. "And you, Admiral Kirk. The Queen has informed us of your arrival. I hope this can be the beginning of something wondrous for our galaxies."
Kirk nodded. "We'll have to work that a bit, Supreme Chancellor. I take it Her Highness informed of her other decision."
"Yes. Discussing possible membership for Naboo into your Federation." Palpatine said with a smile. "I believe we have much to discuss."
Both Kirk and Spoke shared a hidden glance between each other and knew what the other was thinking: there was something extremely off about the Chancellor.
The sun streams into the multi-windowed room at a low angle. It is not quite sunset.
Yoda paced before Obi-Wan, who is kneeling in the center of the room. "Confer on you the level of Jedi Knight, the Council does. But agree with your taking this boy as your Padawan learner, I do not."
"Qui-Gon believed in him." Obi-Wan said steadily. "I believe in Qui-Gon."
Yoda paused. "A great Jedi, was Qui-Gon Jinn. Greater still could he have been, had he not been so impulsive."
"He understood what we did not about the boy."
Yoda resumed his pacing. "The Chosen One the boy may be; nevertheless, grave danger I fear in his training."
"Master Yoda, I gave Qui-Gon my word. I will train Anakin. Without the approval of the Council, if I must." Obi-Wan insisted.
"Qui-Gon's defiance I sense in you." Yoda sighed. "Need that, you do not. Agree with you, the council does. Your apprentice, Skywalker will be."
Obi-Wan smiled.
Yoda stares at him with concern. "Pleased, are you? So certain that this is right? Disagreed with the Council's decision, I did. Outvoted, I was."
Obi-Wan was shocked by this. "I will train this boy the best I can. But I will bear in mind what you've told me here. I will watch him carefully."
Yoda slowly nodded. "Remember your promise, Obi-Wan. Sufficient it is, if you keep it."
"I will remember."
They walk out of the room together.
"And what of the Enterprise and their galaxy?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Monitor the situation closely, we will."
Though there was no body there was a funeral pyre for Qui-Gon as the Jedi Council, the Queen, Sio Bibble, Captain Panaka, the handmaidens, and about one hundred Naboo troopers, twenty other Jedi, Palpatine, Obi-Wan standing with Anakin and Shmi, Jar-Jar, Boss Nass, twenty other Gungan warriors and the senior staff of the Enterprise watched.
Anakin looks to Obi-Wan.
"He is one with the Force now, Anakin. You must let him go." Obi-Wan said.
"I will miss him..."
"As will I."
"What will happen to me now?" Anakin asked.
"I will train you, as Qui-Gon would have. I am your Master now. You will become a Jedi, I promise." Obi-Wan said solemnly.
To one side, Mace Windu turned to Yoda. "One life ends, and another begins, in the Jedi Order."
"Not sure of this one, do I feel. Troubled, he is. Wrapped in shadow." Yoda said.
"Obi-Wan will do a good job with him. Qui-Gon was right. He is ready." Windu replied.
"Ready to be a Jedi Knight, yes. But ready to train one?" Yoda asked.
"A person who can defeat a Sith Lord is ready for anything. There is no doubt. The mysterious warrior was a Sith." Windu frowned.
"Always two there are. No more, no less. A master and an apprentice. " Yoda said pensively.
"But which was destroyed? The master… or the apprentice?"
They give each other a concerned look while Palpatine again had that faint ghost of a smile on his face…
Children sang and throw flowers on the passing Gungan soldiers. The crowded cheered. It was a grand parade.
Queen Amidala stood next to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin now in Jedi apprentice gear, complete with a hair braid cut from Obi-Wan's hair, Shmi, Obi-Wan, Sio Bibble, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the Jedi Council. Artoo stood in front of the Queen's handmaidens and whistled at the parade.
Queen Amidala and Palpatine smiled at one another as Obi-Wan looked over at Anakin. "It's the beginning of a new life for you, Anakin."
Anakin smiled.
"I wonder what Qui-Gon would have made of this celebration. I know he would have been proud to see you a part of it."
"You think so?"
"I do." Obi-Wan looked to Shmi as she brought a hand on her son's shoulder. "Your mother must be proud of you as well."
Shmi nodded with a smile.
"I wish she could come with us."
"You will see her again, Anakin. But when you do, it will be as a man…and as a Jedi Knight."
In the parade were Boss Nass and his guards, Jar-Jar and Captain Tarpals. The Gungans rode kaadu. They stopped before the Queen and walked up the steps to stand by her side. Amidala presented Nass with the Globe of Peace, a giant ball filled with an inner shimmering light.
Boss Nass held up the Globe of Peace and presents it to the crowd. "PEACE!"
As everyone cheered Anakin gave a wry smirk at Amidala, who flashed a dazzling grin at him. The parade marched on.
It's job done, the Enterprise broke orbit of Naboo and activated the wormhole drive, returning to the Milky Way Galaxy.
But the adventures were just beginning.
