chapter 10

It was early Friday morning in early September Wedge, Hoist, Medix and Whirl were at school waiting for Hot shot. Hot shot came in and sat down he looked like he had something on his mind. "Hey Hot shot what's up?" Wedge asked.

"My parents just told me some big news," Hot shot said.

"Really what they tell you?" Hoist asked.

"Soon I am going to have a little brother," Hot shot said.

"That's great Hot shot," Whirl said.

"Yes I love my three old brothers," Wedge said.

"My parents said we're adopting him," Hot shot explained even further.

"Cool," Medix said.

"Adopting?" Scorch asked.

Ms. Lightburst came over. "Hello kids what's going on?" she asked.

"Hot shot's going to have little brother soon, who going to be adopted," Hoist said.

"That's wonderful Hot shot," Ms. Lightburst said.

"But what's adopting?" Scorch asked.

"Adopting is when a child or pet who doesn't have a family gets taken in by a family and becomes part of the family forever to be loved," Ms. Lightburst said.

"Wow," Scorch said.

"You must be very excited Hot shot," Whirl said.

"I am excited but I am also a little nervous," Hot shot said. "I never been a brother before older or younger what if I am bad at it?" he asked.

"Don't worry Hot shot all you have to do is give your brother love," Ms. Lightburst said.

Hot shot was plenty nervous about meeting his new little brother. He saw his parents moved a bed into his room later that day. "Hey what's going on?" Hot shot asked.

"You and your little brother are going to be sharing a room." Heatwave said. "I know the space with the extra bed is now limited but once you and your brother are older we will get bunkbeds so that way you both can have more space." he said.

"How old is my little brother?" Hot shot said.

"He's two years younger than you, so in other words almost four just like you are almost six." Heatwave said.

"Cool," Hot shot said. "When am I going to meet him?" he asked.

"Very soon we are bringing him home next weekend." Heatwave said.

"I am so excited I can't wait to play with him," Hot shot said.

"Well you are going to have to wait," Heatwave said.

"Why?" Hot shot asked.

"Because your brother needs to settle in first and he's probably going to be feeling nervous and uneasy he's been in the orphanage his whole life without being adopted and he's being adopted now so this is new experience for him and he's never known what's like to have big brother so he's going be experiencing lots of new things, so it's best to wait," Heatwave explained.

"Oh," Hot shot said.

"Don't worry once he settles in an gets comfortable with us everything will be fine," Heatwave told him.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

"We also have to adjust to him being in our home too," Heatwave explained.

"Well can I know his name or see his picture you haven't shown me anything about him yet," Hot shot said.

"Okay, okay," Heatwave said. "your new brother's name is Side swipe," he said. Then gave him a picture. "This is him," he said.

There was picture of a little three your old with a smile holding up a drawing he made. "So this is him, he looks so sweet," Hot shot said. "Can I show my friends the picture?" he asked

"Sure," Heatwave said.

Hot shot went to the park to see his friends. "Sorry I'm late guys I was talking to daddy about my little brother he's coming home next weekend and I am so looking forward to meeting him." Hot shot said.

"That's great," Wedge said.

"Here is picture of him," Hot shot said showing the picture to them.

"Wow he's cute," Whirl said.

"He looks nice," Hoist said.

"Very cool," Medix said.

"Wow," Wedge said.

"Wedge!" they heard and saw Wedge's older brothers come up. Heavyload was in 7th grade, Gridlock was is 5th grade while Hightower was in 3rd grade.

"Hi guys," Wedge said.

"You forgot this at home because you said you and your friends were going to place catch. You promised to bring the ball but you rushed out of of the house in such a hurry you forgot it," Heavyload said handing him the ball.

"Thanks," Wedge said. "Sorry guys," he said.

"It's okay," Hoist said.

"Hey guys Hot shot's going to be a big brother his little brother is going to be adopted and he's going to be coming to his new home next weekend." Wedge said.

"Cool," Hightower said.

"That's great," Gridlock said.

"Congratulations." Heavyload said.

"Here's his picture," Hot shot said. "He's three years old about to turn four, I am turning six in November and I am so looking forward to meeting him," he said.

"That's great," Hightower said.

"He's so cute," Gridlock said.

"He looks sweet," Heavyload said.

"I am very excited but daddy told me Side swipe might be feeling a little uneasy and nervous when he first comes home so it might take a while for him to adjust." Hot shot said.

"Yes that is very tricky but some come around quicker and some don't," Heavyload explained.

Then over the next week Hot shot was helping his parents prepare for his new brother. Hot shot got him a present a stuffed shark because of the picture Side swipe was holding was of a shark.

Then that weekend Side swipe was brought in. Side swipe looked around the Firehouse a bit nervously he looked a bit unsure. Hot shot saw that he looked rather scared. "Side swipe welcome home," Heatwave said.

Hot shot came up and smiled. "Hi Side swipe I am Hot shot your big brother," Hot shot said.

"I never had an older brother," Side swipe said.

"Here Side swipe this for you," Hot shot said giving him the shark.

"Ooh shark," Side swipe said and took the toy into his hands as Hot shot handed it to him. "So soft," he said.

"I'm glad you like it," Hot shot said.

Hot shot was doing his best to help his brother feel welcome in his new home.

Side swipe was bit unsure about it but began to relax over the next three weeks. By the end of September Side swipe felt right at home. He started to call Heatwave and Hightemp mom and dad, he called Hot shot brother or bro. He even called the other rescue bots his uncles and aunt. He even referred to the Maxstons as family.

Things could not be any better for him. Hot shot was enjoying his new role as a big brother.

To be continued.
