Before you start Sorry I have legit been away for like 3 years! I'll be honest I just stopped writing for a while and then every time I came back to this story I couldn't remember how I wanted to end it! so during this crazy year I've come back and have a hopefully somewhat acceptable ending ready to finish. I'm so sorry and completely understand if you don't want to stick with me till the end! but I hope you enjoy this chapter! if not be honest and help me figure out what's wrong! Thanks!
Cage Wallace couldn't think. His father was in trouble and his people lives, his life, was in danger. They were so close. He had felt the warm beams of the sun on his skin for the first time and he wasn't willing to lose the feeling again. The screams echoing around the chamber helped. Reminded him of the leverage he had. The Commander may have revoked the deal but he obviously had something she wanted.
'Think, think, think.' He began muttering as he paced back and forth. He took a deep breath in to try to concentrate but all he could focus on was the stench of dried blood, sweat and bodily waste.
Why did she come back, she didn't bring her army? He would've heard about it if that were the case, so she's alone. But why? Why change her mind. Emerson was so sure she would do anything to protect her wife and the foetus…
'Clarke!' He answered himself, with a smug grin. Clarke must've asked her to save her people and he had them all in one room ready to be defended. A trap just waiting to be set. The Commander will be here soon and he needed to be prepared.
'Emerson! Set up some guards outside. We're expecting a visitor.' Emerson grinned back as the prisoners began to quiet and listen. 'Oh and make sure she's alive. Maim don't kill.'
'Is it Clarke?! Where is she? Wheres my daughter?!' An older blonde woman tied up began to scream. 'If you harm her, I'll kill you.'
Cage couldn't believe his luck.
This is the Commanders motive. The mother-in-law.
With the biggest grin he'd given in years he turned to the women and took a step closer.
'Mrs Griffin, I presume?'
Abby realised the mistake she made as soon as he looked at her.
'I'm afraid your daughter-in-law is running amok in my mountain. You see she made a deal. Clarke's life and the child growing inside her to leave us alo-'
'What Child?!' Another boy jumped in interrupting the conversation. He began struggling violently ripping the chains as hard as he could. Fresh blood began to drip as he screamed for answers. The chains were ripping into his skin tearing at his wrists as the bolts in the walls slowly began to shake.
Cage couldn't believe his luck, not only did he have the mother but surely he didn't also have the father of Clarkes unborn child.
'Put him on the table.' He stated calmly. The screaming increased ten fold as everyone began to argue or plead, Abby simply stood in shock. Clarke was pregnant. Why hadn't she said anything? She would have said something if she knew surely and why did the shaggy haired teenage boy, tied up next to her, seem so distracted? She heard the gossip but Clarke didn't want anything to do with him. She married the Commander! Finn was with Raven she thought. That was why she came down to the ground before the adults.
Meanwhile Bellamy had dragged Dante back through the mountain towards Octavia, Jasper and Maya on Level 5. They were huddled by a cleaning cupboard trying to come up with a plan. It appeared that the mountains residents were huddled up in the dining room with minimal protection. Cage Wallace had pulled a vast majority of the ranks earlier as they tried to round up the remaining 100.
'I have the president and the Commander seems to have a plan. We just need to create a distraction.' Bellamy informed the group, Dante didn't seem impressed by the children surrounding him and he looked at Maya in disgust as he realised how imbedded with the enemy she was.
'She'll kill every single one of us. Think of the children Maya. You've seen these children grow. Surely you don't want to see them die. Surely you don't want to die.' Dante tried to reason.
'Maya is not going to die!' Jasper shouted. 'This is all your fault. You're killing our friends. We just wanted to live.'
'Mister Jordan if you believe the Commander is going to let one of ours survive you are surely mistaken. They're savages and she is their leader. The only reason I am currently alive is to be tortured to death in front of her people. The don't know the meaning of the word mercy. All they know is blood and death. Ask Bellamy here. He has spent enough time with them. Just look at your friend here.' He ended looking at Octavia in absolute disgust.
Bellamy couldn't disagree as Jasper looked over in panic. He was paranoid about the grounders as is. Let alone adding on Dante's upcoming execution.
Octavia was ready to speak up and defend Trikru until she realised they were no longer her people. They threw her away just like the Arkers. They no longer deserved her loyalty. 'The president unfortunately is right.' She was already considered a traitor might as well make it worth it. 'We need a plan. Maya needs a suit or at least a safe place in case of a radiation leak.'
'There's going to be more than a leak if the Commander fails… She ordered Monty to destroy the mountain if she fails…' Bellamy informed finally. He knew they were wasting time but he also knew his friends wouldn't move until they were all safe. 'Mr President, I know you care for your people… we need your help again…'
Clarke had calmed considerably as she saw her mother wasn't being placed on the table after all. She was still terrified about Raven but it seemed Cage was too busy talking to his men. She couldn't hear what was being said but he seemed to be unaware of hers or anyones unauthorised presence in his home.
She continued scanning the rest of the mountain for her traitorous wife but couldn't see her anywhere. For someone who grew up in the forest with no technology she was very adept at avoiding cameras. Not a single sight on any screen. Clarke almost didn't believe she was actually here. I mean she hasn't seen her. She only has Monty's word that she's here and even he was acting suspicious. Almost as if he was worried about her.
'Monty how's it going? Are you nearly ready?' She asked.
He just looked over as he stopped typing. He needed more time. The Commander needed more time. Maybe if he could find a way to distract Clarke, they just needed a bit more time.
'Nearly there but Clarke don't you think that we need to wait. The Commander is-'
"The Commander isn't here! Look, not a single camera shows her. You've been lying to me and I want to know why?' Clarke interrupted.
She was confused and scared. She needed to save her mum and her friends and she couldn't hope for her treacherous wife to save the day. Lexa made her decision. Head over heart she said. She certainly wouldn't come to the mountain alone.
Monty didn't know what to do. He knew the Commander was here but without proof Clarke wouldn't believe him. She was hysterical and he was lying through his teeth. It just wasn't his place to say anything and he was terrified the Commander might take his tongue if he says anything.
'Clarke I promise…' He tried to think of something to say but was coming up blank. He quickly turned around looking for something to use as a distraction anything but the truth. Then he saw his saving grace. 'Look! Clarke she's right there!' He yelled pointing to the screen.
The Commander was walking calmly down the hall towards the chambers. She looked like a force to be reckoned with, even alone. However, he knew that she was walking straight into a group of guards and didn't have a way to warn her. She gave the radio to Bellamy when they split up.
'What is she doing? Where is she?!' Clarke couldn't believe her eyes. Why would she come back after making that deal? Where was she even going?
'She's heading towards Cage. I told you she had a plan. Although she wouldn't share it. She just told me that if she couldn't save everyone I should turn the filter off and let in the radiation.'
'But all of the guards are with Cage. They'll kill her. We have to do something?' Clarke couldn't believe her eyes. As much as she hates her wife right now, she came back.
'Clarke you need to sit down and think about this. We can help from here. You can't go barging in. What if she has a plan and you trying to save her gets someone else killed. We need to think.' Monty tried to reason. Clarke cannot leave this room. He would make sure she didn't. More than one life, including his own, depended on it.
Back in the chamber as Abby looked around everyone else seemed to be just as confused. Raven looked in shock and her face was pale. Guards began to take her off the table ready to replace her with the boy, but she didn't have any energy left. She could barely move let alone struggle.
Finn couldn't hear anything else. He thrashed and screamed at the guards that pulled him out of his chains and on to the table. He needed to find Clarke. Save her. He was going to be a father at least he hoped it was his. He was sure Clarke hadn't been with anyone else. Well except the obvious but he didn't want to think about that. He'd let Clarke down again. He needed to find her and fast. Get away from this crazy mountain and take Clarke away. They could become a family and he could hunt and provide for them. Somewhere deep in the forest would do, away from the Grounders and Arkers. Somewhere safe. He needed to act fast. Needed to escape. He squirmed and struggled till finally he saw a window of opportunity.
Screams were coming in all directions now as the hallway outside was filled with the sounds of gunshots. Bullets hitting the floor and guards shouting out for backup. The small window at the door simply showed flashes of gunshots and guards repositioning to aim. Cage was on edge. He wanted the Commander alive. How was that supposed to happen if his people kept shooting.
He stormed to the door swinging it open to see what the commotion was about when a knife came flying through the open doorway sticking into the wall. He took one glance and saw fierce green eyes pointed at him before slamming the door back shut and moving swiftly to the back wall. Everyone else in the room was silent as they saw what happened.
The screams outside however increase and the gunfire slowed until it completely stopped, blood splatted against the window pane and the guards were no longer in view. It was silent bar the lone footsteps that continued to the door.
Cage grabbed the knife and pointed to the remaining guards, but had failed to realise they had a struggling Finn to still deal with. Cage in a panic stepped to the back of the room ready to escape behind his men.
'Emerson, deal with the problem now.'
Lexa stormed through the door with her long swords at the ready, she was limping with a bullet wound in her upper left thigh but could see Clarkes mother in her sights. She was halfway there. Even surrounded by guards ready to pull the trigger, she had to save Clarkes people.
'I warned you Cage let them go. They weren't part of the deal. You stole more. You lied and now blood must have blood.' Lexa growled.
Finn was still struggling, trying to buy the Commander some time, with less of Cages men to deal with they may have a chance. He was able to elbow one of the men in the groin but the rest of the men seemed to just ignore him and went for the stronger threat.
The lethal brunette jumped straight into action but with so many people in the small chamber room she didn't have much room to fight. She easily took down the first two guards that charged her, cutting through the first mans stomach, like stabbing some meat on your dinner plate. Killing the second she gave up her last knife to fly straight between her attackers throat.
There were at least six guards still in the room and she was starting to lag as her leg continued to bleed. She tried to keep her body upright but she was starting to stagger, she didn't have the energy to pull her sword back out of the previous guards stomach but had a feeling that Cage wanted her alive. Hand-to-hand would have to do.
Four of the remaining guards took the chance as they saw it storming towards her ready to capture. Lexa knew she just needed to get to Cage. Just like that game of strategy she'd heard Clarke talk about. Take the king and you've won the game. The rest of the mountain will listen once she has both Dante and Cage. It was just getting close enough to him without dying herself.
'Don't kill her. She knows where my father is!' Cage yelled as he saw the men converge with guns at the ready.
Lexa smirked knowing she was right.
She just needed a plan, and she didn't have the time or the energy to do it. All she could think about was that Clarke was safe and in her tent.
Unfortunately, she was too busy thinking she didn't see Emerson slowly move around the edge of the room to get behind her. Before she could continue to defend herself she was taken from behind, similar to the hold Jaha had in their cells the week prior. However, Emerson was trained in holds and knew where she would target first. She was trapped for the meantime.
Clarke and Monty were still watching the cameras and their panic was rising. Monty finally kicked into gear and got the filter reversal ready for use. It wouldn't take long to finish and he knew that losing the Commander would mean the ground is never safe for his people. He also knew Clarke wasn't in the right headspace to deal with mass genocide.
'Clarke just sit down and we'll sort it. I'm almost finished. We will save them all okay. We still have Dante with Bella- oh.' Monty wasn't feeling very optimistic anymore.
They'd been so preoccupied with Lexa they forgot about Bellamy and the others.
There as plain as day, filling one of the screens, was Bellamy holding Dante Wallace hostage in front of the remaining residents of the mountain. Almost as if slapped across the face Monty scoured the rest of the screens to check that his best friend and his girlfriend were safe but he couldn't see them.
The Commander had been captured and it looked like Bellamy wasn't far away from a similar fate. They had failed and both Monty and Clarke understood that a heavy decision lay before them.
'Get that filter offline now!' Clarke growled not taking her eyes off her captured spouse.
