Some Things Stay the Same
There were several things that Sasha always wanted but never thought she would actually have, especially not after what went down in Amphibia 3 years ago. Among those things was a functional relationship with her best friends Anne and Marcy. Along with that was their love, not the kind that was given out of fear or because Sasha demanded it, but because it was genuine. And finally it was Anne and Marcy as her girlfriends. She wanted those things since before Amphibia, and even during.
So when it was all over, when they had time to process everything, to cry and scream and laugh and talk, all of her emotions just came out. What surprised her the most was that Anne and Marcy felt the same way, about her and bout each other. Which made all of them cry all over again. But they knew they couldn't get into a relationship right there and then. They all needed time to heal, to think about everything. Of course that didn't mean they could work on slowly repairing their friendship in the process.
It had taken them several years but little by little they healed. And during that process their relationship evolved into something more than friendship. It felt like a natural progression for them, sure it took some time to get used to the fact that their interactions were now also romantic but it only made the girls more excited to see each other for their sleepovers.
This time it was at Anne's house. It had been several months since the trio officially started dating. But there was still the feeling of nervousness that came with every kiss, every touch, every flirty remark they made to each other. It all felt like it could all fall apart.
Sasha gulped as she walked up to the door. She knocked, a few moments passed when the door was opened by Anne's mom, "Hey Mrs. Boonchuy, how's it going?" Sasha gave her best confidant smile. She found a new kind of nervousness come over her when seeing the Boonchuy's ever since she started dating Anne. Now they weren't just the parents of her best friend but also the parents of one of her girlfriends.
"Hello Sasha. Come in, Anne and Marcy are already upstairs." The blonde was welcomed into the house, holding her backpack over her shoulder.
"Sasha! Welcome! Welcome! Anne and Marcy are upstairs." Mr. Boonchuy hugged the girl causing Sasha to stiffen and awkwardly pat him on the back. The Boonchuy's were always affectionate towards her and Marcy but even more so after the announcement that they're dating their daughter.
"Right... I just go upstairs then." Sasha awkwardly made her way to Anne's bedroom. Upon opening the door she was jumped by Marcy who hugged her tight.
"Sash!" Marcy nuzzled into Sasha's neck, "Missed you." She mumbled.
Sasha chuckled, pulling back and kissing Marcy on the forehead, "Missed you too Mar-Mar." Marcy giggled and kissed over the scar on Sasha's right eye. The scar still ached at time, as did the one on Marcy's chest and the string of scars running up Anne's right arm. None of them came out of Amphibia unharmed.
Untangling herself from Marcy, Sasha walked to the bed where Anne was sitting with a book in her lap, "Glad you could make it Sasha." Anne smiled at her, leaving her book on the bed and reaching for Sasha's shoulder to pull her into a gentle kiss. The kiss is just a little pressure on Sasha's lips but the kisses always makes her heart flutter and her head spin. Anne pulled back with a goofy smile, one of her hands caressing the scar on Sasha's cheek.
Sasha was about to say something when suddenly Marcy tackled her to the bed, sending the blonde falling face first into the pile of pillows, Anne just barely getting out of the way.
"Marcy!" Sasha laughed as she pushed herself up on her elbows and turned around.
"Sneak attack! With a natural 20 from your favorite rouge." Marcy winked at the girl underneath her. Both Sasha and Anne rolled their eyes affectionately.
"Yeah, yeah you got me. Critical hit. But only because Anne distracted me." Sasha gestured to Anne who smiled like the cat that caught canary. Sasha raised an eyebrow at this, "What?"
Anne made her way to Sasha's side and Sasha was starting to get the feeling that she was being surrounded, "You just admitted I'm distracting. That's so sappy." Anne kissed the corner of Sasha's mouth, her hand going to her other cheek to angle Sasha's head better.
"What's the big deal. Its the truth. Besides you two are way more sappy than I am." Sasha retorted back, her voice confidant despite the blush on her cheeks and the sound of her heartbeat drumming in her ears.
"True. Which is why..." Marcy locked eyes with Anne, winked at her and then they both tackled Sasha back to the bed. The two girls were laughing on top of her, all the while kissing Sasha's cheeks and each other. Stuff like this was pretty common nowadays, just spending time cuddling, hugging, laughing and exchanging kisses with each other.
Sasha managed to pull herself up and leaned her back on the wall. Marcy settled her head in Sasha's lap, Sasha immediately starting to stroke her hear and cheek slowly. Anne on the other hand leaned her head on Sasha's shoulder. Anne wrapped her arms around Sasha's waist, Sasha doing the same to her with her one free hand.
"How long until dinner?" Marcy whispered.
"About an hour I think." Anne replied, her voice slightly sleepy.
"Good. Then we can stay like this for a while. We'll have more energy afterwards. No sleep until morning right Sasha?" Marcy peaked at Sasha who smiled down at her.
"Right. Looking forward to it." Sasha leaned her head on Anne's. For the next hour the three of them stayed like that, enjoying the intimacy of it all. Anne and Marcy falling asleep for a little while, leaving only Sasha awake. She reflected on everything that got them here, all the decisions and mistakes they've made along the way. But now they were here, as ok as they can be, the three of them together. There's a lot that changed about them trough the years, but some things stay the same.
