Seventeen years ago, a forbidden memory repressing jutsu was used to resurrect Rin in a deadly binding contract. At present day, under orders from her master and in exchange for her memories, she allies with the criminal organisation, Akatsuki to secretly spy on them for intel. But her duties come to a standstill when she falls for an enigmatic member of her team.

23. Contentment

I cannot…feel this way about someone like…him.

Perhaps it is not her, but Tobi. Is his ambiguous personality simply an inexplicable attractant?

Her mind is often marred by his presence, and as she steps from his propinquity, there is a cold unease that does not settle.

Then there is Deidara, whose infatuation with Tobi is something she cannot elucidate.

Their relationship, based on minimal significant words, may not be pivotal to something more serious in normal circumstances. But then, who is she to say what is normal and what is not?

Her assumptions may be wrong, but Tobi has recently instilled a host of emotional contentment into her. So will they simply sit there, stagnant, unmovable and only resurface in the form of apprehension and excitement when he is near?
