Two vs. One

Sesshomaru left his study with red eyes as his beast was banging on the mental cage he was kept in while he was trying to keep himself from falling into a blind rage. It was normal for his mate to block her scent and hide her aura when she played with their son, but it had never lasted this long. Whoever had taken his mate would die. He would then bring them back to life so he could kill them again.

"Jaken." Sesshomaru's one word had the desired result. Elfin ears could hear little toad feet rushing his way while screeching and waving his arms. "Yes, Lord Sesshomaru! What can your humble servant do for you, my Lord?"

Sesshomaru stepped over him as he continued to hunt down his mate. "Where is This One's mate?"

Jaken froze in fear. He had no idea what to say. If he blamed the pup he'd die, if he said he didn't know, he'd die. Did it really matter what he said? All outcomes were leading to one result. He was dead.

"You will find This One's mate or lose your head." Sesshomaru ordered his shaking toad.

Jaken took off running as fast as his little feet could carry him to find their favorite Miko. He thought Rin was hard to keep an eye on, but once she mated, he'd never have to worry about the child again. The Miko though, he knew from the start she was trouble and look how right he was! The worse part was Kagome mated Sesshomaru, so he'd never get a break from her.

Sesshomaru almost smirked. He was worried about being a mate and a father had tamed him, but seeing his staff members running to give him a wide gap showed him he had nothing to worry about. His reputation was still intact.

His guards met him at the entrance without being asked. The only time he'd ever let his aura lose like this was when his mate was in labor. None of them could feel her aura so something was wrong. When they were all gathered Sesshomaru gave his typical inspirational speech to his men, "find This Sesshomaru's mate or die."

The troops set out to find her before anything could happen to her while Sesshomaru headed to the gardens were Inuyasha was. It was also her favorite place, so he'd start there. As he wondered out there he thought of all the times he saved Kagome when he joined forces with his brother. What a long journey they've been on, and it didn't end there. Mated life was also quiet the adventure as well.

It didn't take him long to reach the garden, but he still didn't see her anywhere. Naraku was dead, all the other lords loved her, so what happened? Knowing his mate, she found herself in a dire situation by walking. It was truly a gift; demons had powers, well so did his mate. She could get herself in trouble no matter what the situation, but he loved her.

He changed directions when he smelled his son nearby. That damn pup was too much like his mother if you asked him. He was always getting into trouble and playing these odd games that Kagome taught to Rin and the kit. Good news was he also knew when to be a carefree pup and when to act his position. That thought left him when Inuyasha dropped down in front of him.

Why must I deal with him? Sesshomaru thought to himself.

Mate. Yes, his mate. If Sesshomaru wasn't above sighing he would do so right now. While Inuyasha had matured over the year, he stilled talked too much without thinking and with no filter whatsoever.

"Oi! What crawled up your ass?" Inuyasha asked, irritated by his brother's aura. He was having a great nap when Sesshomaru went all demonic.

"Where is she?"

"Kagome? Who the hell knows. Last I saw her she was playing with the pup. Did ya look for her yet?"

Sesshomaru took a step closer before whispering in a deadly voice, "you dare question This Sesshomaru?"

Inuyasha realized how worried Sesshomaru was. He knew they loved each other even if he wasn't open with his thoughts or feelings like Kagome was. Instead, you had to look at his every action, no matter how little, it led to a better life for her.

"Sorry, I'll check- Oi! I'm talking to you. You can't just walk away! ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!" He hated when his brother walked away from him without a word.

Sesshomaru was walking towards the pond. Out of everything Sesshomaru was known for, his garden, home, appearance, and lands were perfect. That's why a stick in the middle of his pond bothered him so much. Walking closer he ignored Inuyasha's ranting to examine the stick further. The closer to the edge he got the different the stick looked until he realized it wasn't a stick at all. It was a tube. He peered into the water and saw his mate underwater.

Fearing the worse possible case scenario, Sesshomaru jumped into the pond and grabbed her before pulling her out. When he grabbed her he startled her enough to drop her barrier letting her smell and aura free.

"Mate, what happened? Why were you hiding from This Sesshomaru?" He asked while looking her over for any injuries.

Inuyasha busted out laughing. Once he saw his brother pull her out of the water it all clicked. His brother was about to be in big trouble and he couldn't wait. Sesshomaru may fear no Army, God, or enemy, but not even he was exempt from his mate's anger.

Holding her to his body, he looked up when he felt his son coming closer. "Mama, Mama!"

Panicking, Kagome started trying to fight Sesshomaru to get away. She only had one more minute before she would win! The only problem was Sesshomaru wasn't about to let her go any time soon, so he held her tighter.

"Mama! I found you! Thanks Daddy, I almost lost!" Their son cheered.

"Sesshomaru! I had been planning that for weeks! Do you know how long it took to make the right size tube to breathe through? PUT ME DOWN THIS MINUTE!" She screamed.

Sesshomaru put her down as asked and waited for her to chew him out.

"I've been even practicing in the hot springs!" She continued on while Inuyasha and now Hideyoshi were trying to stop laughing at the image in front of them. The small woman giving the great Lord of the West hell.

"Why were you training our pup to hunt?" It was Sesshomaru's turn to be irritated. Was she trying to say he wasn't good enough to train their pup?

"Training him to... What are you talking about? We were playing hide and seek!" Throwing her hands in the air the soaked miko walked away ranting, "stupid demon Lord, stupid dog demons and their abilities. Less than a minute to go and I would have finally won. Training. Ha! Freaking mate and his freaking beast getting worried."

The little pup brought everyone out of listening to the Lady of the West and her rant. "Daddy?"

He turned to look at their son as the go ahead to speak. The regal Lord always felt his heart swell when Hideyoshi called him Daddy. They started off rocky, but they were finally bonding while his son enjoyed his life as a child, not acting as a lord in training.

"You're in big trouble. Since Mommy's really mad about you helping me win, I want to help you with a sorry gift. She really likes flowers..." He rabbled on similarly to his mother.

"You did ruin her plan. Did you see her face when you pulled her out of the water?" Inuyasha was still laughing. He couldn't believe what just happened.

"Hn. You will watch the pup tonight." With his order in place Sesshomaru walked after his angry little mate. Four more months... Four more months till their next pup would be here and she wouldn't be so emotional... He hoped.
