"How was school kids?" Mom asked with a cheerful expression.

"It was so good! I kind of didn't make any friends, but that's fine! I'll make friends later, Rory said so! Also, it was okay since Rory played with me a lot! There were these blocks, and we were stacking them, but somehow, Rory could stack them reeeeeealy high, and—" Ruby rambled on, talking about our day.

Wow, she had a lot to say, didn't she? Well, I wasn't surprised. She always acted like this with people she knew. Even though she was quite the introvert and didn't like talking to new people much, she was really talkative once she got to know you.

"How about you Rory?" Mom asked after Ruby was finally done talking.

"It was fine I guess," I lied, "I didn't make friends either, but it wasn't bad." That was a lie, school absolutely sucked.

Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration, it didn't suck that bad. It was mostly just boring for the most part—good thing I could sleep through most of it.

"Don't worry Rory, I'm sure it will get better," Mom said with a kind expression.

Ugh, she noticed. I lied to Mom quite a bit. Sometimes she noticed—sometimes she didn't. Though I guess this one didn't count since I wasn't really trying too hard to lie. I mean, I had a pout on my face and everything.

Or maybe it was just some super-mom-instinct type thing.

I smiled slightly, "Okay Mom."

Mom clapped her hands, "All right, now get in the car."

"All right!" Ruby chirped.

I simply nodded and followed Ruby and Mom into the car. Once we were both in, Mom started up the car and put her hands on the wheel.

She put her foot on the gas, and started speaking, "All right, besides not making friends and playing with blocks, what else did you do today?" Mom asked, not taking her eyes off the road.

"Ooh, ooh, we also—"

Skill [Auditory Enhancement LV 9] has leveled up to [Auditory Enhancement LV 10]

Conditions have been met. Skills [Auditory Enhancement LV 10], [Vision Enhancement LV 10], [Tactile Enhancement LV 10], [Olfactory Enhancement LV 10], and [Taste Enhancement LV 10] have been converted into [Five Senses Enhancement LV 1]

Woah, okay that was a lot to take in at once. So, let's start from the beginning. Auditory enhancement leveled up to level 10. It was also the only one in my senses skills that hadn't leveled up to level 10.

And so, since all my sense-skills leveled up to 10, they combined together and evolved. Whew. That was so good. When my sense-related skills stopped leveling up after level 10, I got worried and thought that it was the limit to how high they could go.

But with this upgrade, that changed. It seemed like I could take my senses to even higher heights. My senses were already good at level 10, but I wasn't going to say no to an upgrade.

"—ry. Rory!" I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of Mom yelling my name. I looked at her and saw that she was pouting.

"Huh, what?" I asked absentmindedly.

"You weren't paying attention," She said, the pout on her face still present.

"Oh sorry, I was just a bit lost in my thoughts," I said with an apologetic smile.

"What were you thinking?"

I paused. "Just thinking about being a hunter when I grow up," I said.

Mom's face suddenly turned from her usual playful expression to a deadly serious one. It was subtle, not something a child would be able to notice. She narrowed her eyes at me slightly and asked in a low voice, "Are you sure you want to be a hunter? It's a dangerous job, you know?"

"Yeah, I think I want to," I answered immediately.

She narrowed her eyes more. "Well then, can you tell me why you want to be a hunter?

I paused. I'd thought about that question a lot. Asked myself countless times: what did I want to do in this world? I could just not get combat training, stay away from the action, find a good girl, and live out my days in peace.

But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed so...wasteful. I was given a second chance at life with the basic knowledge of the future. I wanted to do something with it. Mom's death, the fall of Beacon, even Pyrrha's death. There were so many things I could prevent.

Even if I couldn't prevent all of it, I didn't think I would be able to push down the guilt if I ignored it and did nothing.

"Umm," I placed my finger on my chin, pretending I was thinking. "'cause it sounds cool?"

I widened her eyes for a second in surprise. It seemed like that was not the answer she was expecting. Though that surprise quickly wore off and she started to laugh. "Sorry, I guess you didn't get what I mean. I forget that you're a little kid sometimes Rory. I'll ask you again when you're older, okay?" She laughed.

That would be for the best.

"Okay," I said.

"If Rory's going to be a hunter, then so am I!" Ruby said while puffing out her chest.

Mom smiled. "I'm sure you can, both of you."

"It's over, Hunter-man!"

"I-I'll never let you beat me!"

"Don't you understand, I've already won!"

"M-my friends... are waiting for me to s-save them, I won't lose to the likes of you."

"It seems you really don't understand, let me spell the situation out for you. Everyone, your friends, you're family. I've already stolen all of their souls and I'm keeping them in my dungeon at home.

"I-I won't-"

"I am going to use them to create the Bomb of Destructors Destruction Destructionator. Once I activate that bomb powered by your comrades' souls, the entire world will explode. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

"Do... do you really think I would let you do that?"

"W-what?"

"I've already known about the existence of the Bomb of Destructors Destruction Destructionator for a long time, 2 years to be exact.

"HOW!? That was an extremely well-kept secret, the likes of YOU should not have known about its existence... No, that doesn't make sense, if that were the case, then why would you allow me to take the souls of your comrades?"

"..."

"It doesn't matter, in the state you're in right now, you can't do anything. Do you see this sword? This is the Sword of Darkness Black Night Corruption of Sin and Hell, one strike with this badass sword will end you immediately. Prepare yourself!"

Stab.

"He-he."

"How does it feel, Hunter-man— What!? Why are you smiling!?

"Your plan was a good one, but you forgot some crucial things about my powers."

"NO, I covered everything about your powers!"

"I know you did, but this is a power I found out just before you stabbed me."

"..."

"Through the power of friendship, I activate my TRUE FORM!"

"What!? Nooooooooooooo!"

- To be continued...

"Go Hunter-man, beat his ass!" Yang yelled while shadowboxing.

I simply looked at the screen with a blank gaze.

Ruby and Yang had called me to watch this show called Hunter-man with them. And let me tell you, it was a horrible show. It was about this gary-stu character who went around one shooting Grimm and gathering a harem which he never made any moves on.

How did Ruby and Yang find out about this show? Well, maybe the fact that our parents watched it every day with almost max volume played a part in that. Sometimes Ruby would watch it with them, and she got pretty hooked. Yang too. And the sad part was that this show was popular. Most people watched it or at least knew about it, and a good amount liked it too.

So yeah, Yang and Ruby had called me to watch Hunter-man with them. Of course, at first, I refused, but after a while, they were practically begging me to come and watch with them saying, 'This is the best episode yet!', so I relented. I knew my hopes were low but did they really make me watch this?

First, what the hell are those names? Bomb of Destructors Destruction Destructionator and Sword of Darkness Black Night Corruption of Sin and Hell sound like names a hardcore chunni would make during their high time.

"Rory, Rory, what did you think, wasn't it amazing!?"

Listen, Yang, I really didn't want to say this, but someone had to break it to you.

"It wasn't very good."

Yang gasped after hearing my words, taking a comedic step back.

I was glad I could trash talk this show safely at home. I tried once at school, and the kids started fuming. The reason I could trash talk it here despite the fact that everyone liked it in our house was 'cause they were my family.

"Ruby, you agree with me, right? It was amazing, right!?"

Ruby nodded her head, matching her enthusiasm. "Yep, it was awesome!"

"See, I told you it was good." Yang puffed her chest.

"I still think it's not good," I muttered.

"Fine, we can ask Mom when she gets back!"

Mom. She was still not back yet. She left on a mission, and a day and half had passed. She'd taken longer before—her longest mission so far being a whole week—but that didn't stop me from worrying.

She died in canon, so what if—

No. I had to stop thinking negatively. I knew the outcome wouldn't change, but I didn't want to jynx anything. There wasn't anything I could do at the moment with my five-year-old body, so I needed to think positive. Mom was alive, I just had to keep telling myself that.

BANG!

"WHAT!?"

Yang and Ruby flinched when they heard our father's loud voice. It was completely different from normal; filled with anger and grief.

What the hell happened?

"I'm going to go check what's going on."

"Yeah."

"Me too."

We headed over to where the food was and saw Dad and Uncle Qrow in the room. Why was Uncle Qrow here? He came by sometimes, so it wasn't too unusual, but he just came a few hours ago—saying he had a mission. So why was he back so early?

Dad grabbed Uncle Qrow by the collar. "What the hell happened to Summer!?"

Hm? Something happened to Mom. Wait… No. No. No, no, no—

"She's still alive," Uncle Qrow said, freeing himself from Dad's grasp.

I unconsciously let out a sigh of relief. She wasn't dead. Thank the lords. Oum? Thank Oum.

"What happened, Rory?" Ruby whispered.

"I don't know, but I think something happened to Mom.

Dad let go of Qrow and stepped back. "I'm sorry for losing my cool. Can you...can you tell me what happened to her?"

"Summer is currently hospitalized after her last mission."

She was hospitalized?

"Rory," Ruby whispered, "What does hospitalized mean?"

"It means she's hurt, Ruby."

"She's hurt!?" both Yang and Ruby yelled at the same time."

Too loud.

"Kid's, are you there?"

Yang came out of our hiding place. Ruby and I followed right after.

"Sorry Dad, we heard yelling and we came to see what happened." Yang put her hands behind her back, eyes looking down.

"I see, that's fine. Qrow, can you take us to the hospital Summer is at?"

"I already have a car ready."

"Thank you." Dad gave him a strained smile. "Come on kids. Mom is hurt, and I'm sure she would love to see you all." He tried to talk like he was okay, but from the way his voice cracked, he obviously wasn't.

Summer

Summer walked out of her house with a tired sigh. She looked back one last time before she began to walk towards her car. She'd been called over to talk by Ozpin for something 'extremely important'. She already knew what that meant.

She had to sneak out of her house as always when she went on a mission. She started doing it because her youngest child, Rory, would not allow her to go whenever she tried. Of course, he could never truly stop her, but it always made her heart clench to see his devastated face when she would leave. Summer never knew why he was so sad when she left for missions, for all he knew, she was just leaving.

It wasn't like he had separation anxiety either, whenever she went shopping or something else—he was completely normal.

She took out her scroll and was met with a picture of her family as her wallpaper. She let out a fond sigh once she saw the faces of her children. She absolutely adored all of them, they were all her little babies. She smiled a little bit more when she saw Rory though.

Don't get her wrong, she wasn't playing favorites or anything! She promised! Okay...maybe a little. But she couldn't help it, Rory was just too cute! The first time she saw him, she had instantly fallen in love. There was just something that drew her in when it came to him.

She remembered when Rory had said his first word when he was younger. Well, his second word. His first word was "yes" when she asked him to say it. She always cursed herself when she thought back to it, what a wasted opportunity.

Anyway, his second word was "mama", and when she heard him say it—her heart soared. She didn't even feel that happy when Tai proposed to her.

Summer turned her car to the right, and the huge building entered her sight. Continuing towards it, she placed her foot on the brakes and parked her car.

Getting out of the car, she looked towards the huge building and sighed sadly. When she was in her younger days, being a huntress was her dream—It was all she wanted to do. Just the thought of saving innocent people who were in trouble brought shivers of excitement down her spine back then.

When she got accepted into a beacon, she was ecstatic. She got an amazing team, filled with amazing people—though some more than others. Cough, cough, Raven—and she'd finally gotten the opportunity to fight Grimm and save people.

But now, she wasn't sure she could share the same sentiment as her past self.

Unlike her optimistic, carefree past self, she knew what being a huntress really meant. She knew it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows where the good guys win, and the bad guys lose. She had seen how truly grim it could be.

She'd seen people die. People close to her, people she had bonded with. She knew it wasn't a joke as her child self had thought. She knew that she could die at any time.

And that wouldn't do.

She didn't want to die before she could watch them grow up. She wanted to see them become adults. To see them get married. And maybe even become splendid huntsmen and huntresses.

She wanted to live.

And as long as she was a huntress, that wasn't guaranteed.

Resolving herself, she looked at the building in determination and started to walk towards it. While she was walking towards Ozpin's office, she caught sight of a blonde-haired woman.

Is that...Glynda?

Summer hadn't seen her for a while. Her appearance hadn't changed much, though, so she wasn't exactly hard to recognize.

"Summer? Is that you?" Glynda asked. From the looks of it, however, she already knew.

"Um, yes, hello Glynda. It's been a long time, huh?" Summer scratched the back of her head nervously.

Glynda pushed up her glasses, "Indeed it has. It has been quite busy since I took my position, so I haven't had much time to speak. If I remember correctly, you have 3 children, correct?"

"Um, yes, I do."

"I've probably already said this, but congratulations. It's admirable that you are able to continue this job even under those tough conditions."

Summer blushed slightly under the praise, "Haha, it's nothing, really."

"Well, as much as I would love to talk, I must deliver these papers. If you are here, it must mean that you have some type of mission assigned to you, correct?"

Summer nodded. "Ozpin did call me. He didn't specify it as a mission, but I'm pretty sure that's what is anyway."

"Well then, it seems you must be going as well. It was nice meeting you, Summer, I hope we can have another talk like this again." Glynda said with a smile.

"Okay, bye Glynda," Summer said. Glynda nodded and headed away with the documents still in her hand. She never changed. Always so strict—she really gave her team a lot of trouble back when they were still students.

She kind of annoyed Summer earlier when she was in Beacon, but now, Summer was pretty grateful that she looked after her younger classmates. It showed that even though Glynda was strict, deep down she really cared about everyone.

Summer kept walking until she finally reached the room Ozpin had called her to. She looked at the wooden door that had a sign labeled, "Headmaster's Office" and put her hand on the doorknob with determination.

Opening the door, she was awaited with the sight of a middle-aged man with silver hair. His eyes were a shade of brown, and in one hand he had a staff. He was wearing black trousers-shoes with dark green pants and a vest.

"Ah Summer, you're finally here I see," Ozpin said as he adjusted his glasses, "Please take a seat over there, I would like to speak with you."

"I know that, that's why you called me after all," Summer said under her breath. Though, from the way, Ozpin laughed slightly right after she said it, her attempt for it to go unnoticed had failed. Summer took a seat on the chair that he had prepared for her and waited for him to say something.

"Ah, please wait a moment for me to prepare some coffee. After all, we can't have a serious conversation without coffee, can we?" Ozpin mused as he walked out of the room.

We totally can have a conversation without coffee. Summer thought to herself. Though, coffee did sound kind of nice. With Ozpin gone for a while, it gave her some time alone. Looking around, he noticed how little it had changed.

The paintings, the carpet, even the little raccoon paperweight was still there. After a few more minutes of waiting, Ozpin came back into the room with two cups of coffee in his hand.

Placing a cup in front of her, he started to speak, "Thank you for coming here today Summer. I appreciate it."

Summer sipped her coffee, "Of course I would come, I am a huntress and you're my boss."

"I suppose so," He said with a chuckle.

"So, what did you call me for? I doubt I am here to have small talk with you over coffee." Summer said. Why was he dragging the conversation out for so long? He should just get to the point.

"Indeed, I did not call you to make small talk," Ozpin sipped his coffee, "As usual, I have a mission for you. A Grimm extermination mission to be exact."

Of course, Summer thought wryly. "Aren't there any other people you can appoint to this? I'm sure there are more than a few huntsmen and huntresses that are ready to do this mission."

"That is indeed true, but this mission has a much higher difficulty than they are ready for. Even the teams that are ready to fight this, have one of their teammates doing a solo mission currently. You are the only person I can ask to do this solo."

That was probably a lie, but Summer just sighed and accepted it. If Ozpin said there weren't any huntsman, then he would probably have a way to lie out of it. He didn't make shallow lies—if she asked him to give her proof, he would show proof without hesitation.

"I see, then that's fine. Can I have some details?" Summer asked.

"Of course, that is fine. There is a Grimm infestation in the southern side of Vale. If I remember correctly, it was around a village. It's beautiful... Ah, I'm rambling. Anyway, I want you to get rid of it for me." Ozpin said as he sipped his coffee again.

"Are there—"

Before she could say anything though, Opzin put his finger up. He pushed his seat back and brought his head down a bit. Taking out a key from his pocket, he reached for the drawer under his table and opened it with the key. He looked through the files in the drawer for a minute or so before he finally found what he was looking for. Taking the files out of the drawer, he placed them in front of Summer.

"These files should have a more in-depth explanation of your mission, I recommend you read it. And before you ask," He took out his scroll and did something on it, "Here."

Ping!

Summer felt a vibration from her scroll and took it out to see a message from Ozpin. It had the location of the place she had to go to.

Ozpin started talking about some other things. They were mandatory when he sent people off for missions, and she had heard them a million times already. I have to do this, it's now or never! Summer thought nervously.

She had been putting this off for far too long now.

"You may start heading to the mission grounds now, or you can head there later. But remember, I want you to start leaving at least—"

"Ozpin, I've heard that more than enough times already."

"I suppose you have. But it seems like that isn't the reason you stopped me. Do you have a question?"

Come on Summer, you have to do this.

"Ozpin, I want to take a break from being a huntress," Summer said. Yes! She finally said it! She had been planning to ask Ozpin that for a while now. Taking a break was exactly what she needed right now. Her children were still young, and a few years of break would be perfect to take care of them for a while.

She wasn't thinking of permanently quitting though. Summer was a professional Huntress, and she was still young. When she signed up for this job, she knew what the commitment was.

But I'm sure a break isn't too much to ask for...right? I mean, I worked so hard until now... That was right, a little break wouldn't hurt. All right, if Ozpin said no, she would make sure—

"Yes, I guess that is fine. Hmm, I can do four years if you want. If I really tried, I could even make it five," Ozpin said casually.

What?

Did he really just agree that easily? She was expecting some time of rebuttal at least. Maybe a condition?

But no, he just agreed.

Noticing the confusion of Summer's face, Ozpin smiled, "Don't look at me with such a confused face Summer. You taking a break was not something I didn't already expect. You have a family and kids, after all, honestly I expected this a bit earlier," he chuckled, "If you had said you wanted to quit, I probably would have allowed that as well."

"W-what? No, I wouldn't do that. I'm still a huntress after all."

"Of course, I'm well aware of that."

"And... And what about my silver eyes?"

"Silver eyes or not, even you deserve a break. You have a husband and kids. Spend time with them," Ozpin said, smiling.

Summer was silent for a second, before she gave him a bright smile, "Thank you Ozpin."

Ozpin just smiled.

Summer got off the seat, patted herself down, and head towards the door.

Getting out of the car, Summer grabbed her scroll to check if she was at the right location. Smiling to herself when she saw it was, she turned her head to the location for her mission. It was one of the more rural places in Vale, a small town by the forest—just like Ozpin had said.

She walked towards the direction of the town, avoiding the cracks that were present on the broken road under her. This place really is rural huh? She'd gone to some rustic places in the past, but this one was one of the more underdeveloped places she's seen.

Taking a quick glance at the welcome sign, Summer sighed. Ozpin had said there was a Grimm infestation, and that she could handle it alone, but that was only off of the data he had seen. There were many cases where the difficulty of a mission was wrongly calculated from wrong or inaccurate information. She could get lucky and have an easier mission, or she could get unlucky, and the mission difficulty would go up.

She walked closer and closer to the village before the dead bodies came into her vision. They were mutilated horribly—arms and legs ripped out, people cut in half, and others shredded apart by the claws of the Grimm.

Summer clenched her fist and closed her eyes. She knew what the purpose of the mission was. It wasn't a "save the people" mission, it was a "kill the Grimm" mission. The people here had already been killed—it was the reason they found out about the infestation in the first place. Her objective was to kill the Grimm so the area could be reconstructed and used after the death of the people.

"I'll really never get used to this, will I?" She muttered under her breath. She'd seen scenes like this a number of times during her time as a huntress, and she had never truly gotten used to them.

She didn't think she wanted to either.

Now that I think about it, I made a lot of progress since my first mission, didn't I? She remembered her first mission when she saw a scene similar to this one. It wasn't quite as brutal as the one she was seeing just then, but it was still brutal, nonetheless.

Almost immediately after she did it, she crouched on the floor and threw up. So did Tai if I remember correctly. I think Raven and Qrow were probably used to that stuff—being bandits and all. Now that she thought about it, she was pretty proud that she could contain her disgust this well.

She sighed and walked through the corpses—making sure not to step on any. If I find the time, I might bury a few of them, she mused to herself. Walking towards the first house, which looked like it would fall apart at any moment, she grabbed into her backpack and took out a flashlight.

Turning the flashlight on, she continued towards the house. It was a bit too dark to see without the flashlight, so she was glad she had it.

Growl!

Before she could think of anything else, she heard a growling sound from behind her. Turning around, Summer found herself face to face with a Beowulf, which was pouncing directly at her. It had its claws out as well, ready to attack her clean in the face.

But that level of attack wouldn't be able to hit her. She sidestepped the attack and used the momentum of the Beowulf to attack itself. She pulled out her scythe, and—while the Beowulf was still in shock from the impact—swung her scythe at its torso, killing it.

"Let's just get this over with," she mumbled. The faster she finished the mission, the faster she would get to go home with her family. She had kids waiting for her at home, and she couldn't wait to see them.

She patted herself down and looked around the rest of the house to see if there were Grimm. I guess there are no more in this one, she thought. Seeing that there were none, she walked out of the house and headed for the next one.

Right as she was about to leave though, she heard a soft rustling sound near the cabinet.

Another Grimm? She asked herself. Walking over to the cabinet, she opened it, her weapon ready.

But what she saw inside was not what she expected. Instead of an enemy to kill, there was a shivering little girl sitting in it. She had ruffled blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She looked like she hadn't eaten for days...

A survivor? Summer thought to herself with wide eyes. She honestly didn't think anyone survived this place, so she honestly didn't bother living. I mean, after what she saw outside, it was hard to believe someone survived.

Though, there was something that was confusing Summer. How did the Grimm not notice her? The Grimm noticed negativity. Summer shook her head. This is not the time; I have more important things to do.

Summer crouched down to the same height as the child, who didn't even look at her. She put on the kindest smile she could muster. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked. It was a dumb thing to ask, she knew. The little girl was obviously not okay—she looked like she was severely malnourished, and probably had to watch her parents getting killed. Nobody would be fine after that.

But it just felt like the right thing to ask.

"..." The child didn't say anything.

"Hey sweetie, can you look at me?"

"..."

The child stayed quiet for a few seconds before she looked at Summer. Her eyes were swollen and red, which was most likely from rubbing tears out of them. But the thing that caught Summer's eye was the emotion they held. From the way she looked at Summer, it was as if the little girl had lost hope, even after she had seen someone.

"You're going to be okay now, all right? I'm going to get you out of here, I promise."

The child stayed quiet for a few seconds, before she spoke up, "Are... Are we really going to get out of here? Are we really going to leave?"

Smiling, Summer ruffled her hair with, "That's right, we don't have to stay here any longer. Hmm, can you tell me your name?"

The little girl hesitated for a second, before she finally answered, "My name is Lily."

"Okay, Lily then. My name is Summer Rose, but you can call me however you like. Can you tell me how old you are, Lily?"

"Seven. And a half," she said while holding up seven fingers.

Summer flinched. So young.

What if this happened to Rory or Ruby or Yang? I... I don't think I would be able to stomach even thinking about it, she thought, looking down at Lily, who was still shivering.

Crouching down and looking into Lily's eyes, Summer spoke, "Lily, look at me, okay? We are definitely going to get out of here, I promise all right?"

"Really?" Her eyes regained a bit of hope, "Do you really promise?"

"Yes, I really promise."

Lily brightened up, and she smiled, "Thank you, miss!"

Summer smiled when she saw Lily's newfound enthusiasm. It was good that she wasn't down anymore. However, Summer could see that Lily didn't completely believe her. "Okay Lily, can you follow me? We're going to leave now."

Lily nodded and grabbed Summer's hand. I need to get her outside of the village and to somewhere safe. Sure, she had a mission, but saving a survivor took priority over an extermination mission. Someone else could do that, right now, she had to get this little girl to safety. That was what took priority.

Summer started to head out of the house, but before she could exit it, she saw a group of Grimm standing outside. No, now that she looked closely, were those even more in the back.

What the hell, why were there so many Grimm!? There's no way there could be this many Grimm in one place at one time. In front of her, there was a huge variety of Grimm—too many to count—waiting for her.

She'd never faced this many Grimm at once before. Hell, she'd never even seen this many Grimm at once before. It was completely unnatural. There's no way so many Grimm would gang up just to kill one person—

Salem.

That was the only explanation for what was going on. Summer knew that Salem considered her a threat because of her Silver Eyes, but she didn't think Salem would target her this early. She thought she would have more time.

And right as she got her break too... What bad luck.

I need to stay calm. I still have Lily with me, and I need to get her to safety somehow. But how would she do that? She hardly doubted she could get out of this situation even by escaping, so how could she get out with another person with her?

Okay, I have an idea. She took out her scroll and sent out a signal which said that there was an emergency. The backup would be there soon.

"All right Lily, listen to me, all right? I want you to go back to the cabinet from before, and stay there, okay? I will come to pick you up after I'm done with these monsters, all right?

"Miss, are you going to die?"

"I'm not going to die—"

"Yes, you are! You're going to die just like Mommy and Daddy and then you're going to leave me alone," Lily said while sobbing.

This is not the time for this.

"All right Lily, listen to me. If I don't come back alive, I'll make you a super big cake, all right? You like cake, don't you? Everyone likes cake. Anyway, I'll make you the best cake ever, it'll even have cookies on it!"

"You... You promise?"

"Yes, I promise, so listen to me, okay?"

She nodded," Okay."

Watching Lily go back to the cabinet, Summer sighed. She wasn't entirely honest with Lily. If she died, then she died. End of story. No cake. But Lily didn't need to know that.

She looked around and saw Grimm absolutely everywhere. Shit! They're everywhere!

What to do, what to do!?

No, if she fought them all together, that would be as good as suicide. She looked over to her vehicle and saw that there was absolutely no way to escape because they were all blocking the way. Even if she did escape, she couldn't leave Lily there all alone.

Swish!

She felt her instincts practically scream at her, and she ducked immediately. Right as she did, a claw passed where her head just was.

Shit, she was so busy looking for an escape route, she forgot about the Grimm behind her and let them get the jump on her. She spun around with her scythe, and cut the alpha creep in half, and watched it dissolve.

Not even giving her a chance to rest, another Grimm, this time an alpha Beowulf, came and swiped at her head. She ducked easily, and kicked it away, making it crash into its fellow Grimm. Jumping back, she took back her pistol in her left hand and started shooting at all the Beowulf and Ursa she could see in the area. They were the ones that would die the quickest with the pistol bullets after all.

They just keep on coming. No matter how many times she killed them, they just kept on coming. It was like the numbers never ended.

While she was shooting at the Grimm, and nevermore swooped in and grabbed her by the left arm. Summer let out a little pained scream as the claws of the nevermore dug into her skin.

Before she could try anything, the Nevermore started to fly. Shit, I got careless. She tried to attack the Nevermore's leg, but its grip just wouldn't budge.

It... It's going to kill me with a fall by dropping me when it gets high enough.

Shit, what should she do now!? If she let it do this, she would definitely die by the fall. Attacking the Nevermore normally obviously didn't work, so she needed another approach.

In a desperate attempt, she took the scythe in her right hand and swung at the leg of the Nevermore in an attempt to cut it off, but as expected, it didn't work. The Nevermore smacked it away, and it wasn't exactly hard considering there wasn't much power behind her swing. Thankfully, however, she didn't lose grip of her weapon.

Well, at least she still had her weapon, but she couldn't attack its leg anymore. If she tried that again, she would probably lose her weapon.

She racked her brain for ideas on what to do, considering there weren't many in this situation, it didn't take too long to come up with one. But the real question was: would she, do it?

Yes, she would. She had to. If she didn't her death would be set in stone.

She tightened the grip on her scythe and swung it at the base of her left arm, severing it from her body.

"Ahhhhhhh!" She let out a blood-curdling scream in response to her arm getting cut off of her body. She closed her eyes tightly and grit her teeth, as much as it hurt, she had more important things to do.

She looked down and saw the ground approaching her fast. She tried to move her body in a way where she would take the least damage possible. As soon as she landed, she let out another scream at the impact of the fall.

Her breathing started to grow heavy, and her eyes moist.

The Grimm around her didn't give her a chance to rest as they surrounded her and closed in on her body. Biting her lips hard enough to draw blood, she gripped her scythe as hard as she could and spun around, killing all the Grimm in a 4-meter radius.

Almost immediately after, another wave of Grimm came in like the last one didn't even matter.

"Are you... serious?"

She was going to die, there were simply too many enemies to fight, and too few people to fight them. She inwardly chuckled at the extremely unfortunate situation, this was her last mission, and she was going to die on it.

I'm sorry Tai, Yang, Ruby... Rory.

Rory had always been against her going to missions, to the point where he was almost obsessive about it. Most of the time she would listen to him, but sometimes she would go. Ugh. The devastated looks he gave her when she left filled her with guilt, but when she came back in one piece, he would always let out a cute sigh of relief which was worth it.

Oh god, Rory and Ruby are going to be devastated.

She knew Rory loved her, otherwise, he wouldn't go to such lengths to keep her at home. So, when he finds out that she died on a mission she knew he would be absolutely devastated.

No.

She would not allow that.

She was going to survive this at all costs. If not for her sake, then definitely for her children's sake. She wouldn't allow them to grow up without a mother. She wouldn't allow Tai to raise three children on his own. She wouldn't allow it.

Summer let out an ear-splitting scream, and her eyes started to glow silver.

(Qrow)

"Can you tell me what happened here, kid?" Qrow asked the crying child in front of him.

Right as soon as he got the emergency call from Summer, he immediately rushed over with backup.

"Umm, Miss Summer helped me... And she said she would get me out. But then—hic—she said for me to go back to the cabinet. And she said she would make me a huge cake, and—"

"Okay kid, that's enough." He didn't expect a kid her age to give a proper response, but he got the gist of what the kid was doing here. "Did you patch her up?" He asked one of the medics.

"Yeah. She's lost an arm and has multiple broken bones, but she'll live."

Good, Qrow thought to himself. He looked over to the unconscious body of Summer.

"You really are a pain in the ass, aren't you, Summer?"

AN: I know Ozpin said he didn't know the details of Summer's death, but I always felt like he was lying about that in canon. So yeah, I made it like this. Nothing much to say other than that. Hope you enjoyed.
