Chapter Twenty Two.
Café De La Réunion.
David awoke to the sound of birds tweeting outside, he rolled over to see a sleeping Cadence alongside him. He smiled at how she was somehow able to sleep with easy while her legs and wings were spread out in painful looking positions, he gently leaned over and kissed her forehead, causing a smile to cross her face before snuggling into his chest. He gently sat up, careful not to wake her, as he sat up, he noticed she was wearing his shirt. David quietly stood up and tiptoed around the sleeping beauty and down the steps leading from the cab to the small kitchen.
Cadence slowly opened her eyes to the sound of a spoon hitting the sides of a mug, she slowly sat up and rubbed her eyes while yawning.
"Oh, you're awake then." She heard David call out from inside the nose, just as she was about to stand up, David returned with two mug of hot chocolate. He sat down next to her and handed her a mug, she let out a smile.
"Thank you..." Cadence said as she cuddled up to him, looking down at the marshmallow floating in the mug, "David?" She said quietly, looking up at him.
"Hmmm?"
"Did you ever date anyone after me?" She asked, looking deep into his eyes.
"No..." He shook his head.
"Why?"
"I guess i just lost interest in the prospect of dating and love after everything that happened." He took a sip from his mug, "And i doubt there's someone out their who would love me," He looked down at his foot. Cadence looked down at his hand, placing her hoof on it.
"You're wrong." She mumbled, David looked at her, "There is someone who loves you.
"Who?"
"Me." She kissed him, wrapping her forehooves around his neck, "I love you David Wyne..." She pulled off the shirt.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" David and Cadence turned to face the windshield only to see a furious Twilight Sparkle
"Fuck!" Cadence screamed.
Twilight threw the door open, nearly pulling it off its hinges.
"Cadence!" Twilight shouted, "WHAT THE IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" She screamed, slamming her hoof down in anger. Cadence stood between Twilight and David
"Twilight, it's not what it looks like." David held his hands out in defense, Twilight stared coldly at him, causing a chill to run down his spine, she eyed him up and then turned to Cadence, only see her wearing his shirt.
"Cadence, why are you..." It then clicked, "Oh my god, tell you didn't." Cadence smiled nervously, "OH FOR FUCK SAKE!" Twilight shouted, "WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SLEEP WITH HIM?!" the purple alicorn screamed, her horn sparking in rage, "WHY DID YOU?! HOW COULD YOU!" The princess seethed with rage, "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO SHINING?" The mares butted heads with each other, horns locking.
"Ladies!" David forced himself between the two mares, "You are both pretty." he said in a calming voice, Twilight glared at his hand on her chest.
"I wouldn't needed to of slept with... this hunk of a man." Cadence said, trying not drool while thinking able what she and David did last night, "I would've needed to sleep with him if YOUR brother wasn't a cheating scumbag!" She poked Twilight in the chest sharply.
"What the fuck are you talking around?!" Twilight fumed, biting her tongue as she slapped Cadence's hoof away.
"Your brother has been cheating on me with one of my maids since before Flurry Heart was born." Cadence turned away in anger.
"I don't believe you." Twilight shook her head in disbelief, "Shining would never do that!" Twilight reputed, shaking her head.
"You weren't there Twilight Sparkle!" Cadence turned around to face Twilight, tears streaming down her cheeks, "You weren't there!" Cadence screamed placing her hooves to her face, her horn sparkled and fizzled, in a bright flash, she disappeared, the magic crackling.
"Cadence... I..." Twilight mumbled, "I'm so sorry..." She whispered, looking down.
Cadence rested her head on the tabletop, watching as waitresses trotted past her with serving trays for other tables, she let out a sigh as she remembered seeing Shining kissing her maid.
"Why Shining, why?" Her lip quivered, she bit the inside of her cheek in an attempt to force herself not to cry.
"Miss?" She heard someone say, Cadence looked up to see a waitress looking down at her, "What will you be having?"
"What?" Cadence said confusingly, looking up at the waitress.
"Your order? What will you be having miss?"
"Oh..." Cadence sighed, "The largest banana milkshake you have."
"Right away miss." Cadence rested her chin on the table, eyeing the waitress as she trotted away.
Cadence looked up as she heard a pony trotting towards her, she eyed them up as they sat down in the chair opposite her, she rubbed her eyes and blinked twice, the pony seemed oddly familiar to her.
"There you go miss, one milkshake." The waitress placed down a large glass down on the table before turning to the other pony, "Hello Glimmering Hope, the usual?"
"Yes please." Glimmering spoke quietly, the young mare looking down. As the waitress trotted way, Glimmering looked down at Cadence, "Hey, you're Empress Cadenza aren't you?" She cocked her head, strengthening her wings.
Cadence looked down and sighed, "Yes..." She nodded, her cheek rubbing against the oak tabletop.
"Why so glum?" Glimmering looked down at the Empress sitting before her.
"Why do you care?" Cadence glanced away from the other mare.
"I don't like seeing others upset, it makes me upset. I've been that way since as long as i can remember..." Glimmering looked down, "Anyway, why are you so sad?"
"Its a... it's a long story..." Cadence headbutted the table.
"Ok ok.." Glimmering smiled slightly, looking down at the waitress placed down a plate of cheesy fries and a glass of milkshake, "So, why are you in Ponyville?" the pegasus said, eating some of the fries, the cheese stringing as she did so.
"Visiting family..." Cadence said, taking a sip from her glass of milkshake, "And my... ex..." She added, swallowing her pride, she looked at the mare, "You asked me why i look sad... Well, my sister-in-law caught me making out with my ex...", Cadence looked closely at the mare, she felt like she'd seen her before as a child, she shook her head, thinking she may of just seen her about in Canterlot.
"Ah..." Glimmering sighed. now it was Cadence's turn to look with concern.
"What's wrong?" The alicorn cocked her head.
"I... don't have a family..." Glimmering looked down, her dark blue eyes avoiding contact with the Empress.
"What do you mean?" Cadence moved around the table, sitting next to Glimmering.
"My mom died while in childbirth... She was a maid at Canterlot Castle..." Glimmering let out a deep sigh, "It's said she fell in love with one of the Royal Guards who died in a battle before i was born. At Least, that's what my foster parents told me before they also died..." A lone tear escaped her eye, running down her cheek and down to the floor.
"Is that's why you're here in Ponyville?" Cadence wrapped a wing around her, pulling out a tissue and dabbing it on her cheek.
"Y-yes." Glimmering choked, rubbing her eyes, "I'm trying to find my grandparents, if they're still alive that is..."
"I know what it's like to lose someone..." Cadence said, looking down at the table.
"What?" Glimmering said, looking at Cadence as she blew into the tissue.
"When i was 16, i became pregnant, the foal was... a stillbirth. Then when i was 24, both my dad and my brother died within 10 months of each other..." Cadence sighed, tears slowly escaping her eyes. The two mares embraced each other.
"At Least you have a family, all i have is just a picture of my mum holding me before she died..." Glimmering pulled a folded picture from one of the pockets in her overly large green coat. Cadence looked at the picture and froze in place.
"Shooting Star..." Her voice broke, the picture was identical to the one in her necklace.
"T-thats my birth name, how did you-" Was all Glimmering could say before Cadence bolted out the cafe. Glimmering Hope gave chase.
"How do you know my birth name?!" Glimmering shouted as rain began to fall, Cadence froze on the spot, tears and rain drops trickled down her face, she turned to face the mare.
"Because, i'm your mother."
