Hi everyone! Many thanks to CoppertopJ, fresh-BLOOD-was-drawn-2night and traceybuie for the wonderful reviews! Thank you so much!

A much more serious one this time, and one of the last chapters of this little fic. We're almost at the same date than More Pheromones, which will be updated tomorrow. Not many remaining chapters for each fic, I'm afraid. ;)

Warning: mentions of violence in this chapter.

Enjoy, and please review!

Volterra, November 17th, 1.11 am

Hi lovelies! This is FashionPixie again! Sorry, Edward is still too busy wrapped up around his mate to be of any use for this blog, so I'm taking matters into my own hands!

Edward's blog mailbox is full to bursting with concerned emails about the Volturi's past actions towards the vampire covens. Many of you are worried about the anonymous guard's mail who declared that the Volturi have been tearing covens apart to seek out talented vampires to join the guard. Well, guys, I'm afraid that's the truth. If you take a little moment to think about it, don't you find it strange that every single vampire who's been 'invited' to join the guard in the last six centuries is a talented one? Or that their original coven has been found guilty of something before being obliterated?

That's also the real reason my siblings and I are here in Volterra. We're not exactly willing to be here. But the four of us are talented. I am a seer, Jasper is an empath, Edward is a mind-reader and Bella is a shield. Our family wasn't destroyed because we swore to come to Volterra and stay for the next ten years. We didn't join the guard though, we hadn't promised that. ;)

But yes, these are the methods of the Volturi. Below I insert a mail from another anonymous Volturi guard.

Dear Edward,

I'm sorry. So sorry. I was with Jane and Alec the day that Aro decided the MacAllan's coven had to be annihilated, in 1736 in Scotland. We killed every vampire, Edward. Every vampire but one, a talented one. She's been a Volturi guard ever since, Chelsea keeping her submitting to Aro. I didn't realize then. I wouldn't have realized if Chelsea's power hadn't been neutralized. It was so wrong. I feel so guilty. I still see the look on the 'mother' of the coven's face when I ripped her limbs off of her. I'm so full of remorse. Five vampires were killed then.

I want to be set free, and go back to Scotland with this guard. I want to explain things to her, and ask her for forgiveness. I'm so, so sorry.

I'm a vegetarian vampire now, too. I won't kill another person ever, human or vampire. I've done that much too many times. I want to do things right, now, after all I did wrong.

Please don't feel bad for me, Edward. I don't deserve it. But please pray for me. If God exists, and cares about us, may he take pity on me. I'm so sorry.

This email, like many others, broke my heart. I just had to share it with you, as an example. But you're forgiven, anonymous guard. We know you weren't fully yourself, and under Chelsea's influence and Aro's domination. And my mate and I will pray for you, just like Edward and Bella and all our family and friends will. Be assured of that.

Take care, lovelies.

Alice Cullen

From HappyMumofSix, 1.12 am: My heart is breaking too. We will pray for him, for sure.

From BlondeVenus1915, 1.13 am: We knew the Volturi weren't saints, but this...

From SecludedEnglishVampire, 1.14 am: I knew it.

From RomanianRuler, 1.15 am: Finally, the truth about the Volturi comes out! About time!

From GrizzlyBear1915, 1.16 am: Don't start a revolution, RomanianRuler. The Volturi must change their ways, not being overthrown.

From RomanianRuler, 1.17 am: All I'm saying is that the Italian scum has been lying to all of us since centuries ago, and that we Romanians would do a better job.

From GoldenDoc, 1.18 am: That's not the topic, RomanianRuler. We're discussing the Volturi's abject methods of acquiring talented vampires and destroying innocent covens.

From DesertJackal, 1.19 am: I can't say we're much surprised here. Rumors have been flying for decades now. But the testimonies of those poor guards are appalling. We need to reassess the Volturi's ruling power over all of us vampires.

From ConfederatesNeverDie, 1.20 am: Down the road, yes, DesertJackal. For now, the priority is asking each and every member of the Volturi guard if they want to stay or leave, and how to deal with the aftermath of the destruction of so many covens during the last centuries.

From SpaininAlaska, 1.21 am: Let's ask them. See what they have to say about all this.

From ConfederatesNeverDie, 1.22 am: It's not so easy, SpaininAlaska. They want to remain anonymous when sending Edward their emails. They fear retribution. And they're feeling guilty. You can't imagine the levels of guilt and remorse around Volterra these days. I'm getting strong headaches.

From AnonGuard, 1.25 am: Hello all. Yes, we're feeling guilty. Well, most of us. There are some of us who don't realize the wrong we did, and will probably never acknowledge it. But us clear-headed vampires do realize it, and we don't want to stay here. We want to get out of Volterra and lead a peaceful life. With absolutely no killings.

From SecludedEnglishVampire, 1.26 am: I can't believe that only because you drink animal blood all of a sudden, you live in a blissful world, full of pink and fluff and love!

From GoldenDoc, 1.27 am: You're not very fair, old friend. Being a vegetarian isn't an easy path every day, but living a peaceful life, surrounded by loved ones and according to our conscience has no price. And thank you for your bravery, AnonGuard. Thank you for speaking up. We're not far, should you and your comrades need us.

From AnonGuard, 1.29 am: Thank you, GoldenDoc.

From SecludedEnglishVampire, 1.30 am: Idealistic fools.

From SparkyStrongVampire, 1.31 am: If so many of us are now vegetarians, SecludedEnglishVampire, I think that's because we may have gotten something right. But feel free to stay hidden on your remote rock, alone. We vegetarians are happy to be among loving, close covens. ;)

From SpaininAlaska, 1.32 am: Well said, SparkyStrongVampire. SecludedEnglishVampire, the vampire world is changing. You can accept it or deny it, but it's still changing. Will you?

From FashionPixie, 1.35 am: SecludedEnglishVampire is disconnected. I think he's offended.

From GoldenDoc, 1.36 am: Typical him. He'll mull over things and come back to us in a century or so, I guess.

From GrizzlyBear1915, 1.37 am: So what do we do now?

From ConfederatesNeverDie, 1.38 am: We wait. Aro is at the end of his tether. Soon things will be resolved one way or the other.

From GrizzlyBear1915, 1.39 am: Waiting isn't my forte.

From FashionPixie, 1.40 am: Listen to ConfederatesNeverDie. He's right. It won't be long now, but things are very uncertain.

From AnonGuard, 1.41 am: We're at the end of our tether too, FashionPixie. We're eager to be free at last.

From FashionPixie, 1.42 am: I promise you, AnonGuard, that things will evolve in less than two weeks. How, that I don't know. Please be patient.

From AnonGuard, 1.43 am: My comrades and I have faith in you, Cullens.

From GoldenDoc, 1.44 am: Thank you, AnonGuard. We won't let you down.
