Hey! So if I didn't say this before I will now. I will be posting my friends' stories too. Also, yes, I did force one to read the Mortal Instruments(Don't worry, she liked it ;)). I am currently working on ITJF(Is This Just Fantasy). I am currently experiencing writer's block and I have to change the entire plot. My brain does not want to work with me. Please enjoy and review(It made my friend's day.)!

I walked out of the Institute doors an hour and thirty-eight minutes ago, and I made it halfway to Chinatown before having to stop and sit down. The lady sitting on the other side of the bench smiles at me.

¨Where are your parents, dear?¨ she asks, putting her hand inside her purse.

Something inside me is telling me to run, and I intended to follow that instinct.

¨They´re... away. Deployed,¨ I say. It's not really a lie, since it could have been half true at some point. If they weren't dead.

The woman takes her hand out of the bag. Her fingers gleam like metal, and they grow rapidly.

She grins at me. Even that looks menacing.

"I do hope you'll tell those pesky angel children to back off. You would tell them right? Oops, just spoiled the plans," She finishes with a giggle.

I do what any rational Shadowhunter with no backup would do-I bolt.

The first thing I feel is pain. Deep, hot, searing pain. I can't remember anything. My name. Where I am. Who I am. Then it all floods back

A wave of hope, joy, peace... and a horrifying moment of realization.

It's cold, and that's the only thing that forces my eyes open.

There's an older woman sitting across the room, probably in her late 20s or early 30s.

"You're up." I don't even know how she noticed. I haven't even breathed weirdly. "I'm Gretel, the second in command in the Chinatown Lycanthropy pack. You do understand where you are, correct?"

I slowly nod. I understand, yes, but my head is pounding. That demon must have gotten me good. There are bandages on my wrists and hands, my right shoulder, and my stomach.

Gretel moves closer to my bed, and I instinctively flinch away.

¨Calm down, I´m not going to hurt you,¨ she says. ¨But I am going to need your name.¨

I hesitate. I woke up in a wolf den halfway across town from where I was, covered in bandages with a strange woman sitting in the corner. How is that not suspicious? ¨Emily.¨

¨Last name?¨
Lying seems like the best thing to do in this situation. ¨Ryder.¨

She looks up at me. ¨Don´t lie to me, Emily. That's not a Shadowhunter last name.¨
¨I don't even know what that is! How can I be one without knowing?¨

Gretel sighs, seeming unsatisfied. ¨Now, when were you bitten?¨

¨Depends. How long was I out?¨

"Depends on if you tell me when you were bitten. Now, Shadowhunter, tell me your real last name and when you were bitten."

¨Fine. Emily Wayland. May 11. Happy now?¨

¨Yes. Can you walk?¨

¨Probably.¨

Turns out the answer to that question was a big fat 'no'. Stumble, fall, stumble, fall, stumble, fall. Every time I got up. Didn't even last a minute.

Gretel sighs. ¨Alright, sit down. I´ll have one of the cubs bring you some food.

I sit back down. "Are you gonna tell me what day it is?"

"May 23," she said, and, upon seeing the look of shock on my face, added: "Oh, don't worry sweetheart. I've seen people out a lot longer for a lot less."

"Thank you."

The older woman smiled. "You're welcome, dear. I expect Lucian-he's our pack leader-will be in to see you soon."

I nodded before deciding to go back to sleep.

I wake up to the sound of a door opening, and I immediately reach for a seraph blade - which, of course, wasn't there. The young girl in the doorway looks from me to the table, no doubt wondering what I'd be reaching for. I smile at her, hoping to ease her shyness. It seemed to have worked, as she came closer and sat the tray of food she'd been holding on the table beside the small bed I was sitting on. "My name is Rebeckah Hernandez. What's yours?" she asked, returning my smile.

"Emily Wayland."

"Shadowhunter?"

I sighed. The girl - Rebeckah - took that as a yes.

"That's cool. I always wondered what that was like. Could you tell me?"

"Well," I said, chuckling slightly at the curiosity of the young girl. "It's a lot of training from a young age, a lot of sweat, a lot of blood, and…" I trailed off. I didn't want to tamper with her view of Shadowhunters.

"And what?" she prompted. I wish she would realize that I didn't want to talk anymore. I just wanted to go back to sleep.

"And a lot of risk. And deaths."

Rebeckah nodded, seemingly satisfied by my answer, and left.

I ate a little bit of the food, not wanting to hurt the little girl's feelings, and then rolled over and went back to sleep.

The next time I wake up, there's a man with golden-brown hair sitting in the same chair Gretel was earlier, reading something that looked like a murder mystery novel. I briefly wondered how long I had slept, but that thought flew to the farthest corners of my mind when the man looked up.

"Good morning. My name is Lucian Graymark, I'm-"

"The leader of the Chinatown Lycanthropy Pack. Yeah, I know." Why wouldn't anyone here let me sleep?

"Impressive. And I'm gonna go ahead and guess you know how you got here?"

I nodded. "Demon attack. Guess someone from your pack found me and brought me here."
Lucian thought for a moment. "Emily, were you a Shadowhunter?"

Apparently, Gretel hadn't told him anything, but I didn't see a point in lying. He would find out sooner or later. "Yes."

He nodded. "And is there any chance that you lived in the Institute?"

"Yeah. Hodge - the caretaker while Mr and Mrs Lightwood are away - kicked me out." Too late, I realized I had told him too much. But I suspected that there was a big chance he already knew.

He simply nodded again. I wished he would stop doing that. I had questions that I needed answered, most importantly- did whoever found me kill the demon? Or was it still roaming around New York? What day was it? He had said that it was morning, but the last time I had woken it was around sunset, but that didn't mean it was the morning after that.

Lucian must have noticed that I had questions, but how he knew, I couldn't figure out. "You can ask me anything you'd like, you know."

I immediately started talking. "Is the demon still out there? What day is it? Who found me?"
He looked slightly overwhelmed by how I'd launched the questions at him, but he answered them. "Yes, the demon is still roaming around New York, as far as I know. It is May 24, and Gretel found you."

I thanked him for answering my questions, and he nodded and left, leaving the door open behind him. Guessing that meant I was free to wander around the den, I slung my backpack - which Gretel had hung on a hook by the door - and left the room, hoping not to be yelled at. Luckily, even though I passed several werewolves, both cubs and adults, no one told me to go back to the room I'd come from.

I peeked into a room and noticed it was full of books, with a few teenagers sitting on piles of blankets or fluffy chairs, deep into their books. The next room seemed to be a dining room, with a long table in the middle and a few cabinets spread throughout the room. The last room in the hallway was a kitchen, and, uninterested, I turned to go back down the hallway and explore more of the den.

In another hallway, there was a large living room, where almost everyone seemed to be in, laughing and watching something on the small television at the front of the room. I smiled and moved on, discovering a few bedrooms, all with bunk beds shoved against the walls with backpacks and boxes under them.

"Emily, right?"

I whirled around, wishing I'd had a knife with me. When I realized that the girl in front of me wasn't a threat, I relaxed. Why did everyone here keep surprising me?.

The girl had brown hair that fell a little past her shoulders in dozens of braids, and large, brown eyes a few shades lighter than her skin. She smiled and stuck out her hand. "I'm Maia."

I shook her hand, returning her smile.

Maia didn't find my silence discouraging. Instead, she kept talking, pulling me through the hall back to the library.

"So, I heard you were a Shadowhunter."

I nodded, letting the smaller girl pull me along.

"Awesome! What's that like? I always wanted to know, but Lucian won't tell me."

I stopped. "Lucian was a Shadowhunter?"

"Of course he was! Why do you think he asked about the Institute and could tell you used to be a Shadowhunter, too?"

She had a point, so I nodded and let her keep pulling me along.

Soooooo... what do you think? I am going to finish my algebra class now, so bye!
