Part 1: The Preparation

Previously…

"ATTENTION, ALL SMASHERS!" The announcer's voice boomed through the speaker, startling the storybook characters. "THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE AUDITORIUM."

"What was that?" Shahra asked after the voice died down.

"Oh, that was an announcement." Eleven replied.

"It says that we have to go to the auditorium. What does it mean?" Caliburn asked.

"Hmm… Important announcement…" Joker pondered.

"Could it be… a newcomer!?" Morgana guessed.

"The final one. It might be a possibility." Sephiroth spoke.

"Come on, we don't have time to lose! Let's go!" Sonic ushered as he ran ahead while the others followed.

Sonic, Joker, Morgana, Eleven, and Sephiroth arrived at the auditorium along with Shahra and Caliburn.

"A newcomer? What does it mean?" Shahra asked.

"Is it a new Smasher?" Caliburn added.

"Yep, a new Smasher's coming." Sonic replied.

The next ones to arrive are the Mario Brothers.

"Oh, hello, Sonic." Mario greeted.

"Yo, Mario." Sonic greeted back. "I guess that you all heard the announcement."

"Yeah. We all did-a hear that." Luigi said.

"Who are these two?" Shahra chimed.

"Oh, Shahra, Caliburn, meet Mario and Luigi. Mario Bros, meet Shahra and Caliburn." Sonic introduced.

"A pleasure to meet you, Sir Mario and Sir Luigi." Caliburn spoke, slightly startling Luigi.

"Oh, a t-talking s-sword?" Luigi stuttered.

"Oh, don't be scared, Luigi. He's just-a like Cappy." Mario assured, and right on cue, a pair of cartoonish eyes popped up on his cap.

"Did someone call me?" Cappy spoke.

"Whoa." Shahra gaped. "First, a talking sword, and now a talking cap? Now I've seen everything."

"My reaction exactly." Caliburn chimed.

"So, about this newcomer thing, do you know who it is?" The sentient cap asked.

"Nope, not yet." Sonic shook his head.

"But we need to keep our expectations low if we don't want the last time to happen again." Joker advised.

"Right, when the two Byleths came, almost everyone hated them." Eleven recalled.

"My expectations are indeed low because of my inexperience in this event." Caliburn interfered.

"Same here." Shahra agreed.

"I knew that." Sonic chuckled.

The next one to gather is Pyra, Min Min, Corrin, Corrina (female Corrin), Palutena, Pit, Dark Pit and Bayonetta (in her third game outfit).

"It seems that these Smashers are slowly gathering together." Shahra remarked.

"Well, this mansion is huge, and anybody who is far away from here may take time." Eleven said.

"And look who's back from her universe." Sonic chimed as he approached the Umbra Witch. "Hey, Bayo! Nice outfit you got there!"

"Oh, thank you, Sonic." Bayonetta chuckled. "I got this from my home universe."

"Yeah. I even watched her wear that in the interstellar network." Palutena spoke, then notices the genie. "And it's nice to see you again, Shahra."

"Likewise, Palutena." Shahra bowed.

"Hey, Pittoo!" Pit called his counterpart upon noticing the genie. "That's the genie I told you about!"

"Right, I can see that." Dark Pit rolled his eyes.

"And you know what? She even gave me a wish to fly by myself!" Pit pumped his fist in the air.

"Yeah, but mine lasted longer than that." Dark Pit smirked.

"I know that." Pit pouted then crossed his arms, still feeling jealous.

"So, who are these Smashers, Sir Sonic?" Caliburn asked.

"Meet Palutena, Bayonetta, Pit, and Dark Pit." Sonic introduced. "Everyone, meet Caliburn."

"Pleasure to meet you, Lady Palutena, Lady Bayonetta, Sir Pit, and Sir… Dark Pit."

"Whoa, that sword talks!" Pit gaped. "And he even called me Sir!"

"Caliburn was just being polite." Sephiroth spoke.

"And looks like Pit isn't the only one who addresses me 'Lady'." Palutena giggled.

"And someone, or rather something had finally called me a lady." Bayonetta proudly spoke.

While Sonic, Caliburn, Bayonetta, Sephiroth, Palutena, and the two angels chat together, Shahra took a look around the auditorium. More Smashers are now gathering in the area. And it seems that they're decorating the room.

Shahra floated to Joker and tapped his shoulder. "Hey, Ren, uh I mean Joker."

Joker turned to the genie. "Yes?"

"Why is everyone decorating the room?"

"Oh, that? We're going to have a welcoming party."

"Do they assume that it's really a newcomer?"

"Well, it's been three months since Kazuya came, and right on Sonic's birthday." Morgana chimed. "So, everyone knows that it's the newcomer."

"Or they probably watched the direct through the interstellar network." Joker guessed.

"Probably so."

Then a certain pink puffball approached the three.

"Oh, hello there!" Shahra cooed upon notice.

"Hey, Kirby, welcome back from your lost city discovery." Joker leaned down on Kirby's height.

"Poyo!" Kirby replied.

Then, Pikachu and Pichu approached Sonic and Sephiroth respectively.

"Oh, hey, buddy. Back from your universe?" Sonic greeted.

"Pikachu!"

"Pichu!"

"And Pichu too." Sephiroth chuckled. "And it seems that they're excited to welcome the last newcomer."

"And everyone else too." Eleven referred to some Smashers setting up for the welcoming party as more Smashers came to help.

"It's good to give the newcomer a warm welcome." Caliburn remarked.

"Now, come on, everybody. Let's help set up for the party." Sonic said as everyone did so.

The final newcomer will be revealed tomorrow, Oct. 5, 2021. For those Smash players all over the world, who do you think it will be?

Joker: But I advise you all to keep your expectations low.

Eleven: Yeah, we don't want the last time to happen.

Joie: Right. This will be the last of the newcomers, so once revealed, if it's not who you're expecting, then it's okay, there will be the next Smash Bros game… I think.

Sonic: Don't worry, everyone. Mr. Sakurai will always make more Smash Bros games, but it'll take years to make.

Joie: Oh, and don't forget the fangames the fans made. I once played them years ago…
