All-Star Toon-A-Lympics

Week 1B: Brazil

"Welcome back, sports fans, to the second half of the All-Star Toon-A-Lympics, live and direct from beautiful Brazil! Our valiant competitors will first do battle in boxing, beach volleyball, and finally, a penalty kick contest to see who will win today's Toon-A-Lympics! But first, a recap of the current score. The Super Sonics hold the lead with 65 points, Dora's Explorers for second with 55, and those Vicious Villains for third with 30. And now, to the Riocentro for the start of the first event: A round-robin, winner-take-all boxing match. Our first match pits Donkey Kong of the Super Sonics against Double D of Dora's Explorers."

Donkey Kong approaches Double D, who stands in his corner looking scared.

"I don't know about this, guys." Double D said. "He looks kind of scary."

"Double D, you worry too much. Just dodge his punches and when the time is right, hit him with your haymaker!" Eddy attempted to assure him. It looks to have worked as Double D walks to the center of the ring, meeting Donkey Kong. Double D manages to land a punch, but because of his scrawny build, Donkey Kong didn't feel it. Eddy facepalms at the sight.

Donkey Kong sighs and deals a mild punch to Double D's stomach. The latter collapsed from the punch.

"And the first match goes to Donkey Kong of the Super Sonics! This brings us to the final round of the event! Still representing the Super Sonics is the magnificent, the undefeated Donkey Kong!"

Donkey Kong beats his chest. Goldar snarled before huddling with Pete, Jessie, and James.

"And for those really villainous Villains… wait a minute, there's a huddle going in the Villains' corner."

"Alright, you guys. Here's the plan." Pete whispers the plan to his teammates. They snicker at the delight of their plan.

"Wait a minute! It appears they're replacing Goldar! It's a late entry for the Villains: Jessie and James of Team Rocket! If we know Team Rocket, they must be up to something despicable."

The Villains cheer on their wicked allies. At the sound of the bell, Donkey Kong approaches them both, holding a feather.

"And the finals have begun. Jessie and James each have a feather. I can't imagine what they're up to."

"I like the way you think, Pete." Goldar complimented.

"Go get him!" Pete cheered.

Both of them run around Donkey Kong. He manages to catch James, but Jessie takes advantage of the distraction by tickling his foot with the feather.

"How fiendish! They're tickling him! Donkey Kong is falling into hysterical laughter. I don't know how he can take it."

"How terrible. He sounds happy." Meowth commented.

"I don't know how he can take it."

Donkey Kong laughs so hard, he falls to the mat.

"Wait a minute. He's down! He's down! And the winners by technical knockout in 57 seconds, Team Rocket from the Vicious Villains, Jessie and James."

"Yeah! We won! That's the way to do it!" Pete hi-fives them both. Donkey Kong sees this and goes ape on them, smashing James into the mat. Meowth laughs at that.

Heading into our final events, the Sonics are still in first place with 65 points, the Villains get all 25 points and are tied with the Explorers at 55 for second.

At Copacabana Beach, site of the volleyball event, we see Frankie Stein standing by, but Brock is nowhere to be seen. She looks around for him.

"Brock? Brock, come in!" Frankie calls out for Brock. She eventually finds him at the volleyball court fawning at a female spectator. "Oh, there he is."

"Excuse me, Brazilian beauty, my name is Brock." Brock said, his eyes replaced with hearts.

"Uh, I have no clue what's going on." Frankie spoke.

"What do you say after the contest, we take a walk on the beach and watch the stars at night?" Brock flirts with the judge. Suddenly, a Croagunk appears and hits him in his back with Poison Jab.

"GAH! Nighty-night! Ugh!" Brock collapses from the poison. Croagunk croaks a laugh as he drags Brock away from her.

Frankie lets out a small chuckle. "Anyway, back to the contest, where in the first round of this 2-on-2 tournament, Team Captain Sonic and Darkwing Duck have been pitted against Drs. Eggman and Doofenshmirtz for the Villains."

The volleyball game goes on as both sides vie to keep the ball from landing on their side. Doofenshmirtz prepares to serve with a strange mechanism.

"What is that?" Eggman asked.

"It's my latest creation: The Power Lob-Inator!" Doofenshmirtz told him. "With a push of a button, it'll send a serve so high in the air it is impossible to return it."

"How devious! I love it!" Eggman smirked. With a push of a button, the volleyball is launched high into the air. The spectators see it fly up and up and up!

"Darkwing! Spring me!" Sonic calls for Darkwing. He pulls a spring from his utility belt and places it in the court. Sonic uses the spring to propel himself high in the air. When he reaches the ball, he spikes it hard. Eggman and Doofenshmirtz see the ball coming at them like a meteor. They both scramble as the ball hits the machine destroying it almost instantly. When the smoke clears, they see that the ball landed inside the court.

"I hate that hedgehog." Eggman frowned.

"With that amazing return, Sonic and Darkwing take the first match."

The Sonics cheer for their captain's performance. Later, the final match shows Sonic and Darkwing going against the Explorers' Gil and Yakko Warner.

"Now, going into the final match, we find Sonic and Darkwing, who were exhausted from the last match, pitted against Gil and Yakko of the Explorers."

"You can do it, Gilly!" Molly cheered for her teammate.

The rally goes on.

"Amazing volleyball, Sonic! Frankie here at courtside with Tails and Knuckles. Tails, what are your observations on the volley play?" She asks the two-tailed fox.

"Sonic can run at the speed of sound, so he can return any thing that comes his way. That's all I have to say." Tails told her.

"It all comes down to this final tiebreaking point. A high lob by Darkwing over center net! Gil and Yakko are deep in their back court and there's no way either of them can get to it in time."

Yakko lifts Gil and tosses him, giving him the opportunity to spike it back. Sonic and Darkwing try to reach the ball, but they run into each other, letting the ball drop onto their court.

"Tough luck, DW." Launchpad said.

"He is the terror that flaps in the night."

"Hey, that's me." Darkwing smiled hearing the narrator's words.

"Gil and Yakko take it, giving 25 points to the Explorers. The Sonics receive 15 for second and the Villains get 10 points for third. The Sonics and Explorers are tied for first with 80 points. The Vicious Villains are right on their tail with 65 points."

The Villains hiss and sneer at the thought of being in last. The final event takes place in its famous football stadium: Maracanã.

"And here we are at the Maracanã, Rio's most famous football stadium and the site of our final event: the penalty kick contest. The first round of the penalty kick contest to see who can score the most goals pits the skillful Ladybug against the Sonics' Shoutmon, the Digital World's soccer star."

"Okay, Ladybug, let's see you block this!" Shoutmon smirks as he prepares to kick the ball.

"And Shoutmon prepares for his patented Super Shout Shot."

Shoutmon kicks the ball with a lot of force. Ladybug braces for the shot palms out. She catches the ball and it still spins. The ball slows to a stop, still in Ladybug's hands.

"What an amazing block by Ladybug."

Shoutmon shouts gibberish angry that his best shot was blocked.

"I told him to keep a cool head, but with a temper like that, how can he?" Falco sighs.

"Zero for the Sonics. Next to kick, from the Explorers, is Ryder with Dr. Eggman of the Villains defending the goal."

"Okay, time to see if my soccer training paid off." Ryder spoke.

"What's this? It looks like something sneaky is going on at the goal. What is it?" Muttley gives Eggman a red backpack. The dog snickers.

"It's one of my newest inventions: The Soccer Blocker Backpack! With this, that punk won't be able to score!" Eggman said.

"Okay, Eggman. Ready?" Ryder asked.

Six robotic hands emerge from the backpack. "Give me all you've got." He challenged the PAW Patrol leader.

Ryder kicks the ball and Eggman prepares to block it, but the ball misses him and goes into the goal.

"Goal!"

"Eh? That was just luck! I'm ready for you this time!" Eggman glared.

Ryder continues to score goal after goal. One more kick hits Eggman in his chest before rolling into the goal. Muttley snickers at his misfortune.

"And what an amazing display of soccer skill by Ryder! 42 goals from one kicker! Not bad for a 10-year-old."

Ryder high fives his teammates.

"As we go down the wire, Meowth of Team Rocket comes up to kick for the Villains with Boots the Monkey defending the goal. The pressure is really on now, Boots. This is for the whole cake. But first, let's look at this afternoon, when Boots got a few tips from our expert guest commentator, Chuck Thorndyke."

"Thank you, my friend." Chuck spoke. "Boots, it is a pushover. As you can see, this reminds me of my old days with the Station Square High soccer team."

"Hey, grandpa, you never told me you used to play." Chris told him.

"Chris, my boy, will you please remain quiet?" Chuck glared at his grandson.

"Now, defending the goal is all about focus and reflexes. First, you assume your stance. Then…" Chuck starts explaining how to defend the goal, but once he assumed his stance, he felt his back strain.

"Uh, he's not looking so well." Boots commented.

"A few years without exercise can do that to you." Chris added as he took his grandfather to the hospital for recovery.

"Now, back to live action. Armed with that valuable expertise, Boots is prepared for anything Meowth sends his way. Can the Villains' Meowth move his team into the lead?"

Meowth kicks the ball with some force. Boots swings onto the iron frame of the goal and catches the ball with his tail.

"I don't believe it! Boots has stopped Meowth's goal attempt with his tail!" Brock commented, having recovered from the Poison Jab.

The Villains hiss at the saddening attempt. Muttley grumbles in disappointment. The Explorers cheer as they are awarded the first-place score. Later, the Explorers are on the podium receiving gold medals.

"And that's it! The Explorers get 25 points for the soccer match, the only team to score any goals. Now to the big board for the final scoring. The Explorers win it all with 105, the Sonics second with 80, and 65 for the last-place Vicious Villains. So, congratulations to our champions of today's Toon-A-Lympics. And we now say farewell from lovely Rio. Join us next time as our three gallant teams once again span the world. Athletes of sinew and steel, pushing the body beyond the limits of pain and endurance, the eternal struggle to be champion, to be number one, wear the Toon-A-Lympian Gold!"

And that's it for the first week of the Toon-A-Lympics. Dora and her team have secured their first gold medal. If you have any suggestions for events or locations, let me know in a review or PM. Excelsior!
