Avery 16 years old
Grissom awoke with a start as his phone started to loudly ring. "Hello?" He answered too tired to even see who was calling.
"Dad?"
Grissom sat straight up in bed at his daughter's crying voice. "Avery."
"I need you to come get me please."
"Give me the address." He had always told her that she could always call him no matter what.
He hung up the phone after getting the address and threw some shoes on before he left the house. Grissom didn't even know that Avery had left the house. She had been sleeping when he went to bed.
Avery had been starting to rebel a little since she had turned 16 but she hadn't done anything like sneaking out before, minus the one time she tried to run away to protect him.
When Grissom pulled up to the house he saw Avery sitting on the sidewalk by the road. There was a full party going on in the house and yard behind her. He was barely out of the car before Avery threw her arms around him, crying into his shoulder. She reeked of alcohol.
"Are you hurt?" He asked quietly.
Avery shook her head.
"Let's go."
The drive home was spent in complete silence. As soon as they were home Grissom told her to shower then they would talk. He went into the kitchen and started a pot of coffee.
He wasn't surprised that Avery had been drinking. She had begun to hang out with a few of the more popular kids in her class. He was to blame for that because he encouraged her to socialize more at school that were her age instead of the middle aged people he worked with.
Avery walked into the kitchen and sat in one of the chairs pulling her knees to her chest in her defensive quirk. They sat in silence until Grissom poured two mugs of coffee and handed her one.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Avery took a couple sips of her drink before she nodded. "I'm sorry I snuck out. I just thought it would be nice to go to a party. I've never been to one."
"You could have asked me. I might not have said yes but our lines of communication have to stay open. How much did you drink?"
"Two cups." Silent tears ran down her face. She didn't want Grissom to be disappointed in her.
Grissom ran his hand over his face. "Okay. I know you're a teenager and you're going to try new things and push boundaries. I'm not mad at you, Ave, but if I would have checked on you and you hadn't been in your room...I would have panicked and worried until I found you."
Avery nodded. "I'm sorry."
"I know you are. Why did you call me to come and get you? I don't think it was just the alcohol you were distressed when you called me."
"I don't really know what happened. I was sitting on the couch and drinking and a boy came over and started talking to me. Next thing I remember is us in a bedroom and he was on top of me kissing me and touching my chest." She looked at Grissom. His outside demeanor was calm but she could see the anger in his eyes.
"Go ahead." Grissom didn't think she had been drugged and that was why things were hazy. Avery had a way of blocking out unsettling events. Too bad the first nine years of her life couldn't be blocked out.
"I told him to stop and he didn't so I knees him in the crotch. When I tried to leave he grabbed my arm and bruised me. He let me go when I stomped on his foot and I called you." The tears were stronger now and she could barely talk through sobs. "I was so scared, dad."
Grissom got up and walked around to Avery, pulling her into his arms. "It's okay, baby. You're safe."
When she had calmed most of the way he took a seat beside her keeping her hand between both of his.
"Do you want to do anything about what happened? At the very least he physically assaulted you."
Avery shook her head. "I just want to forget about it."
"Okay."
They spent the next couple of hours talking before they both retired to bed to get some sleep. Grissom awoke in the morning to Avery sleeping on the floor by his bed, just as she had done on her first night with him.
Brass knocked on Grissom's door, entering at his nod. "Got a minute?"
Grissom looked up at him. "If I didn't I wouldn't have told you to come in." He knew he was being rather snippy but he was exhausted.
The last bomb had been an apartment building less than a mile from his own house, way to close for comfort. Sara and him were working along with the first responders when Avery and Greg showed up. This scene had only taken about 6 hours to photograph and collect evidence. 100 dead, no survivors.
"Ecklie's team was able to lift a fingerprint off of one of the bomb pieces from this last one."
"Is there a match?"
Brass hesitated slightly. "Yeah, it was Avery's."
Grissom took the file from him reading the documentation. "There is no way that Avery was behind this."
"Do you know where she was this morning?"
"My house, then she went home around 9."
Grissom stood and briskly left the room leaving Brass to follow him. Avery, Greg, Sara, and Nick were all inside already so he could brief them before sending anyone home.
"Finally we can go," Avery said relieved. "I want to sleep for 24 hours."
"Where were you this morning, Avery?" Grissom asked. "After you left the house."
Avery looked confused. "Why do you want to know where I was?"
Grissom handed her the file. "Your fingerprints matched the ones on the detonator."
"That's impossible. I didn't build a bomb."
"There's no way Little Grissom could have done this. If they match her then they had to have been planted." Nick cut in.
"Where were you this morning, Avery?" Grissom repeated.
Avery stared at her father for a few moments, opening and closing her mouth as she tried to think of an excuse.
"Avery!" Grissom snapped.
"She was with me this morning from 9 until we went to the bombing."
Greg's comment was met by silence. Grissom looked between Avery and Greg for a couple of moments before he carefully replied.
"Where? If we have video then we can prove she was elsewhere before this goes any further."
"We were in bed," Avery answered.
"I have cameras. I can show video that Avery didn't leave my apartment during that time."
Grissom continued to stare at Avery in shock. He finally looked to Greg. "Give Brass the footage." Without another word he turned and left the break room.
Avery dropped into her chair and sighed as she closed the file. Greg rubbed her back.
"How long?" Sara asked. Her voice was low but it was clear that she was hurt and angry. "A week ago you told me that you weren't interested in dating."
"A few months."
Sara nodded in disbelief before she got up and left the break room also. Avery groaned and dropped her head onto the table. Great, now everyone was mad.
Sara walked into the bathroom, not surprised to see Grissom lounging in their large tub. One of his thinking sessions.
"You okay?"
"Fine."
Sara made a face before she stripped off her clothes. "Move up," she told him climbing behind him in tub.
Grissom made a contented moan as he leaned back against her, her hands moving up and down his chest.
"She's so stubborn," Grissom remarked.
"She was raised by you." Sara chuckled as Grissom snorted. "I know it hurts you when she shuts you out, but most of the time she really does do it just to protect you."
"She should know by now that she doesn't need to protect you."
"She loves you."
"I think she's finally reached that age where she doesn't need me anymore."
Sara touched Grissom's check and turned his head to the side so she could kiss him.
"She still needs you just not as much. In Avery's mind you walk on water. She will never not need you." Sara gave him another small kiss. "I'll always need you as well."
Grissom went to respond but he was effectively stopped when Sara crushed her lips against his. A needy moan escaped her throat as the kiss deepened. Grissom broke their kiss only when he adjusted to turn in the tub so he was facing her.
Sara gasped with a laugh as he yanked on her hand, pulling her over his body. Their lips met again and Grissom took the opportunity to run his hands along her body. He had mapped out every mark and sensitive spot long ago.
"Gil," Sara moaned out as his lips wrapped around her nipple.
A small nip sent shivers running through her body. His mouth found the other nipple groaning at the taste of her body. By this point Sara was rubbing her core along his hard and ready cock.
"Gil, I'm going to ride you so hard," she said against his ear. A hard thrust of his hips was her answer
Sara smiled seductively as she lifted her body a little so she could guide his cock inside of her. She lowered herself on to him slowly teasing her lover.
"If you don't move faster I'm going to pull you to the bed and fuck you until you can't walk tomorrow."
"Promises, promises."
Grissom let out a curse as she dropped down fully onto his cock. Sara's lips were gliding down his neck to his shoulder as her hips rotated slowly on him.
"You feel so amazing inside of me, Gil. Your cock fits me perfectly."
A nip at his ear had him thrusting up against her, his hands clawing at her ass.
"I'm going to make you come so hard."
To back up her words she started to move in earnest. All words were forgotten as she rode him hard and fast. Sometimes Grissom still couldn't believe that someone as beautiful as Sara wanted someone like him.
"Sara." The needy whisper escaped him.
Sara kissed him, fighting against him for dominance in the kiss. Grissom relented letting her have complete control of his body which was a big deal for him.
"Don't worry, baby, I'll take care of you."
The sounds of their lovemaking filled the room as they both approached their peak. Sara buried her face in his neck as wave after wave of pleasure rocked her body. Her body automatically clenched around his cock sending him crashing over the edge as he yelled her name.
Sara laid her head down on his chest breathing heavily. She stubbornly stayed in that position not ready to break their connection yet. Grissom placed small kisses along her forehead.
"I love you."
A smile fell on his lips. They had said those three simple words plenty but they made him happy every time he heard them. Every time she kissed him.
"I think we soaked the floor," Sara muttered tiredly.
Grissom gently grabbed her chin and lifted her head to look in her eyes. "I love you."
They stayed that way for a while both lost in the eyes of their soul mate.
