Chapter 15 Olympic Sports and scholarships
As Harvey ate some of the cookies that Susan gifted Sebastian in his kitchen, he was still amused with the reaction of this mysterious girl "Roby", she was a berth of fresh air in the middle of his school drama, she kept appearing everywhere and something about her was magnetic, he smirked at the memory of her face as soon as he opened the door, her cute face with that astonish look was priceless, he could notice not only that she didn't expect him to be there but that she liked to saw him again, the best thing that he learned was that apparently, she was single, and she might be playing hard to get, the challenge was alluring. Harvey couldn't keep elaborating his thoughts; he was interrupted by an eager and friendly voice.
"So, Harvey! Did you get to watch the Opening Ceremony of the Atlanta Olympics on Friday? "a bubbly 17teen years old Kimberly ask him
"No, actually the guys and I rented some movies, and my father and your uncle grilled some steaks to "Celebrate" my arrival before the gig at the place 2 Ann St" Harvey told her, making air quotes to emphasize the word celebrate with an ironic gesture.
"So, I get you don't like sports?" she was intrigued,
"He does, actually Reggie could have been in the baseball Olympic team but he busted his left shoulder" Stated Sam who was grabbing a beer from the fridge
The girl was confused she knew the guys from the band for a while and she knew that this handsome college boy was Gordon's son but she was not sure if he was called either Harvey or Reggie, as far as she knew Gordon had two sons one of about her age named Marcus and the other one named Harvey, but the guys kept calling this guy Reggie
"Sam, what did I tell you, this is still a sore topic for Harvey!" Gordon Interrupted
Once again, was it Reggie or Harvey? she tried to understand the conversation but didn't say a thing
"no, it's not! A sore topic anymore. I am better at boxing anyway and I almost finished with law school. I am going to earn the big bucks soon enough!" – Harvey Stated, the truth was that he was still disappointed that he didn't get to be a baseball player, but he set more productive goals in his life and he was working to achieve them
"Well it was very nice, I always find it interesting how many people compete and have camaraderie at the same time. I recorded the opening on a VHS, I will bring it back tomorrow after school! I knew that you guys probably were going to be working in the afternoon" Kimberly told them "I enjoyed very much the performance of Gladys Knight and Celine Dion; Uncle you did a tour with Gladys no?"
Tanks darling you are very thoughtful, and in did tur with her back in 84, but just for a short while" Sebastian told the girl
Kimberly knew this fact because Sebastian was her favorite uncle and she liked to organize all his photographs and memorabilia, and she liked very much to be around him when he was in town, she was going to study music and she was filing college applications Sebastian invite her to hang around for her to get to know Harvey, she had told him that Harvard was an option for her because she was going to apply to a scholarship and he knew that Harvey could help her with the whole application process,
"Talking about box Muhammad Ali was the one to ignite the torch in the ceremony, It's a shame that he has Parkinson this was very evident, but he did great."
" If you want to keep using that big ivy league brain of yours I would recommend to tone down the boxing Regy, a lot of blows to the head can mess you up" Sam stated. Harvey rolled his eyes.
"So tell me Regy do you know the girls that came by to bring the cookies that Susan baked for us? they work in the blockbuster no?" Asked Sebastian
"I don't really know them well, but I would like to do so!" Harvey smirked thinking about this enigmatic girl that kept floundering around him, he couldn't figure out why they kept finding no matter where they were in town, he was truly intrigued.
"Regy! I am serious don't mess with them" Sam warned, I know what kind of heart breaker you can be, and these girls are hard-working, goal-oriented girls that don't need unnecessaries distractions, as well you have to focus on your paper, we all are expecting you to turn up a big shot lawyer"
Gordon was amused by the protectiveness that Sam displays towards the girls, he knew that somehow this girl Roby reminded him of the girl who got away back in the summer of 67.
"Sweet baby Jesus Sam, you make me sound like a world-class asshole, I mean it isn't my fault that this Roby chick keeps appearing everywhere I go! I am not a stalker or a creep!" Harvey complained.
"Ok, ok you already told us! but the thing that you haven't told us is what your lady boss thinks of you slaking for 2 weeks instead of attending classes? Sam challenged Harvey
"Ejem, well… I really haven't told her yet" Harvey found at the thought of the upcoming conversation with Jessica, after all, she was taking a chance on him, and by the way, things looked like he was at fault, but his strategy was to fix everything before he contacts her, he knew that somehow she was going to know all about this incident after all the Harvard alumni circle was pretty thigh and he knew that this Luis Litt a summer associate at the firm was probably going to tell on him, to get in Jessica's good graces, the slimy douchebag had a very competitive vain and he knew that as far as he returned back to the firm he was history, after all, he knew he was her protegee and had a soft spot for him but he rather not ruin his chances. So, he knew that the conversation had to happen soon enough, but he was going to take his time.
"Well let me know how it goes" Sam chuckled. "I wonder how you got her to pay for your school", he winked and Harvey let him know his bad thoughts, just to tease him but Harvey was not amused at the implications, he had the most respect for Jessica and to be associate as her boy toy didn´t sit well with him.
"Be careful with what you're implying Sam, Is not funny, and definitely I earn the trust and respect of Jessica she knows that I am an Investment for the firm, mark my words she is going to be the managing partner of the firm and I am going to be her right hand, She is a powerful and intelligent woman and implying anything else is definitely out of place and plain sexist, shame on you" Harvey snaped
"Ok, ok, that's it Sam play nice and stop harassing the boy" Gordon interrupted the conversation before it became more heated "and Harvey please don´t mess around with those girls" Gordon warned
This scenario was getting ridiculous, Harvey barely knew the girls and he didn´t have a mischievous agenda, he knew that he wanted to get to know Roby but he didn't want more drama in his life.
When the girls arrived at Joe's place Donna was upset because the whole visit to Susan's place had been ridiculous, who in their right mind believe in things such as Love, Destiny or magic! Soulmates, please! And the coincidence that this "Regy" obnoxiously conceded hot guy kept appearing in every corner, was too much, and on top of all now she was the laughing stock of Sheryl!
Joe had already ordered pizza, the girls arrive just a couple of minutes after it was delivered, and they were relieved that they didn't have to cook, as always Joe remembered de little yellow tomatoes that Donna loved, Rita and Ethan were already there, the best part of Joe´s place was that on the weekends he liked to have friends over.
Sheryl was still very excited about everything she had found the whole Jofranka experience magic and very interesting, and she told everyone every aspect and as well how Roby had encountered this Regy guy, she mocked her over and over she was very satisfied to rile her up.
"Sheryl, stop it let alone poor Roby" Joe pleaded Donna was very annoyed and a headache was starting to form.
"I bet this guy thinks that you are following him all around town, just to get lucky with him" Ethan continue mocking Donna.
"As it sounds, this is the kind of guy that doesn´t struggle to get female attention but it runs when it´s too much, probably if you start acting like you are really obsessed with him, he will be the one trying to avoid you" Rita stated a light bulb it turned on Donna's head.
"Actually that is not a bad idea I am going to act all psycho on him! And hopefully, I will erase the smirk from his face every time he interacts with me, it´s getting annoying and plane ridiculous all of this"
"Well, this calls for a wager, who says Roby is going to get involved with this guy and who that she isn't?" Ethan asked
"Come on, really? A wager? On my nonexisting romantic life?" Donna scoffed
"Yeah, that sounds fun, I bet twenty bucks that it is destiny calling and she has a summer romance with this Regy guy!" Sheryl said enthusiastically
"I bet you thirty dollars that Regy is going to scare him so bad that the poor guy won't know what it hit him" Joe stated
"I am in for fifteen bucks that this guy is going to ignore Roby after the first date, sorry sweetheart but you can be intimidating sometimes, and although I can believe you eventually somehow can go out with this guy as soon as the chase is over the thrill would subside he will get tired" Ethan placed his bet
"I won´t bet if she dates or not this guy, because I know she is going to do it, I saw the looks you were giving him at the black pearl, what I am going to bet is if you are going to be straight forward and ask him out, Roby you can win fifty bucks what do you say?" Rita asked, this tattooed pinup girl was sassy.
Donna couldn't believe that only Joe had faith in her and everyone else was stating matter of factly that she was going to cave, although fifty dollars were enticing.
