A/N. It's my best intention to post more frequently but life happens and it seems that everyone is getting married and wants me to assist to the event. Therefore last week I couldn't post anything so here we are... I hope you enjoy this short Harvey-centric chapter. Let me know if you do!

So… this was supposed to be posted on the weekend but I did go to a wedding to attend, yes another. XD

Chapter 17 Deposition

"Jessica Pearson speaking" the authoritative voice of the lawyer passed through the line.

"Hi, Jessica this is Harvey" the cautious voice of the Harvard student interacted.

"It's about time you call back Specter, can you Gad Demet tell me where the hell have you been and why I am receiving phone calls from the Harvard Dean's secretary asking about your ethical reputation?" the annoyed voice of Jessica lash at the young man.

Harvey gulp and sight, this situation was frustrating for him, he knew that the situation looked bad but he was on the right the thing now was how on earth he was going to explain this silly and unjust situation to his mentor the woman that trust him enough to put him thru school from her own pocket.

"Well, long story short… I pissed off professor Gerard, and now I am grounded for 2 weeks"

"I can see that happening, but tell me how it happened and why the Dean is involved in this?" Jessica question.

"The thing is that we had a mock trial and the opposite team cheated, they won and I discover what they have done, I rant to professor Gerard he didn't believe me so he punished me for questioning his judgment, he didn't let me show him the proof, so I did what seemed logical and went to the Dean with the proof of this wrongdoing " Harvey calmly explained

"Aha, but there is something that you are not telling me Specter where the hell are you and why no one was able to locate your sorry ass?" the brunet inquired.

"Well, the thing is that" Harvey huffed "In the other team one of the lead counselors was .."

An embarrassing pregnant pause was necessary to get his thoughts together, because how can Harvey explain the nature of the relationship he had with Scotty? an on and off relationship? friends with benefits? the biggest rival he had in classes but that he happened to be intimate with? his girlfriend? his ex? The only woman that can manipulate him as she pleases and that he knew that he had a very soft spot for her, therefore he had to put distance between them?

This was so humiliating, he almost can quote word for word what Jessica was going to say to him if he knew about this so he decided to bend a little the truth, the last thing that he needed was to appear weak before his mentor.

"... a close friend and I don't want to get involved in the investigation because when this issue gets resolved people are going to get expelled and I don't want anyone to think that I meddle with things, everything has to be objective and If I am not there I can't affect the process…so If my friend or any of the teammates get expelled is on them not me, nothing personal"

In fact, Harvey was telling the truth but he was omitting Scotty and how his relationship was affecting this issue

"The thing is that everything started because I was accused to be a sore loser" Harvey grimace and his voice sounded indignant, besides, I knew that if I stayed I probably would do something rash, like telling Gerard he is an egotistical ass again and in a battle of egos between the professor and I nobody would win, so staying was pointless, because, no way on hell I am going to be expelled for one class, the logical thing to do is to do the dam paper and wait on the Dean's decision, also, I haven't seen my Dad in a long time because he is always on tour, so I decided to pay him a visit, gather my shit together and work in peace without the constant remainder about all this bullshit"

Jessica knew that Harvey was a good and honest guy but was hot-tempered and cocky as he can get, so overall the decision to leave Harvard for a couple of days to cool off was not a bad one, as well she knew that things with his parents weren't so smooth, so she decided not to press in this topic. Although she was no fool and knew that Harvey was omitting something, she decided not to pry more, after all, she was only interested in a positive outcome.

"So, tell me Specter where the hell are you? I know that you are with your father but a location would be nice to know, you know just in case I have to go and kick your ass if you don't resolve the issue with Gerard " the voice of Jessica sound as well as the stiletto footsteps clinking on the marble floor of the court hallways.

"I am in Wilmington, North Carolina, Mom!" Harvey teased "and before you ask Betty already has a phone number to reach me" Harvey sed in a condescending voice

"You, Specter don't get to be sassy with me right now" Jessica responded trying to sound annoyed but in reality, she was sporting a Cheshire cat smile "And this paper of yours what it's about?"

" It's an investigation of all crimes against humanity that occurred around the world since the XX century and I have to pinpoint the ones that were dismissed due to corruption indicating specifically the ethical problems that suffice at the trials while proposing a plausible solution to win each case" Harvey blurted annoyed.

"Gee Specter that is a mouth full! Professor Gerard really hates you! That's an awful lot of information to dig in two weeks. It seems very little time to finish it without the Harvard library! Are you sure that you are going to be able to finish it on time? I don't want to lose the investment that I am doing in you" Jessica asked worriedly

"Actually I think that I am going to be ok, I can always go to the local library at the university and the friend of my father got me in touch with someone that has an extensive law library nearby, and I am going this afternoon, I am going to check it out and do my best" Harvey sounded convinced

"Ok, well let me know what happens with the Dean I am going to contact him this afternoon to listen to what he has to say and give my opinion of you, and if you are having any problems gathering the information I can always ask some paralegal to gather some information for you, send me an email or fax with the specific topics that you have any issue finding but this is going to be a huge favor and you are going to owe me big time!" Jessica offer

Harvey was really touched by Jessica's offer, with this statement she reassured him that she trusted him, he felt confident of the outcome.

"Tanks Jessica, that would be awesome, first let me see if I am good and If I need your help I reach you", Harvey said embarrassed

"Well I gat to go, my client just arrived and I have to speak with him, don't get lost and say Hi to Gordon from me "

"I'll do it, and Jessica thanks again for everything"

"By Specter" and the line went dead.

After hanging up and paying his tab Harvey felt relieved, the only thing that he had to do was to finish the awful paper and let the Dean's office deal with all that mess, he was so deep in thought that he didn't notice the girl window shopping walking distractedly his way until it was too late, both crash with each other, they tumble he grabbed her by the waist avoiding her to preventing her from falling to the floor, a jolt of electricity make them shiver at the same time, as they recognize each other.

A simultaneous "Hey" hung in the air for a second, the surprised face of Roby met him somehow. His day made a 180° turn and was looking to be a very good one. With a smirk and a quick mind he quipped

"Wow, I knew I would have you in my arms but not so soon"

A/N Tada… what would Roby's reaction be?

So I decided to post the next chapter as soon as I finish it in order not to wait until the weekend. I really want to finish this project! But life is a b... And I don't know when I will be able to do it but it will be soon... Personally, I can't wait to see Roby's reaction. XD
