"A snowstorm?"
"YOU PATHETIC HUNK OF JUNK!"
They turned to see Calvin kick Young Blaze out of the mansion.
"GO OUT AND DIE!! WE NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!"
With that, he slammed the door shut. Young Blaze shuddered as he shakily stood up and looked around.
"I only knocked over one glass and broke it, and Calvin sent me out into the storm," Blaze shakingly sobbed. "I had no other relatives I knew about, all my animal friends had been hibernating, I had no idea if my fairy friends were alive and warm, so I was all alone..."
Young Blaze whimpered as he drove across the snowstorm. Blaze and Roarian followed him as he made his way to the nearby city.
Young Blaze soon fell onto his tires and shivered in the cold air of the night. As he did, tire tracks soon approached him, and Blaze and Roarian glanced up to see Phoenix and Flame drive over to the poor child.
"Oh dear! Are you alright, young one?" Phoenix asked, taking the child into her tires.
"He's freezing cold," Flame hissed. "We need to take him home,"
The duo took the child home, and Blaze closed his eyes as they disappeared. They reappeared in a humble home, where Phoenix set Young Blaze down on the couch.
"There you go, dear," she spoke. "All safe,"
"Th-Thank you..." Young Blaze shuddered as Flame wrapped a blanket around him.
"You're welcome," Flame smiled. "But I have to ask, what are you doing out there in the snow, all by yourself?"
"I…" Young Blaze sniffled his tears before hugging himself.
"Aww, you don't have to tell us if you don't want to, little one," Phoenix assured him, hugging him.
"My... my papa... he sent me out there alone..." the young truck managed to whisper.
"He did WHAT?!" Flame looked horrified.
"Flame!" Phoenix scolded before hugging the frightened child. "You're scaring him!"
"Sorry..."
"I messed everything up..." the small black truck began to cry. "My mama and papa hate me... and now I'm all alone..."
"Awww, honey, don't say that," Phoenix turned to him with a smile.
"But they do! They hit me, they yell at me, they leave me with no supper, and... and... the friendly mama wolf and her pups who were my friends...? Papa killed them..."
"Oh…" Phoenix looked shocked.
"Little one, can you tell us the name of your parents?" Flame asked.
"Calvin and... Krisha?"
"I see…" Flame hissed.
"Well, whatever they did to you, THEY are the awful ones, not you," Phoenix told Young Blaze.
"I... I'm not?"
"Definitely not," Phoenix hugged him. "You're a child, and they're your parents. They shouldn't hurt you like that. And everyone makes mistakes, it's very normal to,"
"But... what am I gonna do now...? I have no one else..."
"Don't worry, little one," Flame told him. "If you like, we can take care of you,"
"R-Really?"
"Really," Phoenix smiled with a nod. "What's your name, little one?"
"Smoke... but I don't like that name." Young Blaze gagged.
"Well, no wonder you don't like that name," Flame chuckled. "You don't look like a 'Smoke' to me,"
"Yes, yes," Phoenix agreed, glancing at the child carefully. "You look more like… a 'Blaze',"
"Blaze...? Hey... I like that!" Young Blaze beamed.
"I'm glad you do," Phoenix patted his head. "Is there anything else you're not comfortable about yourself, Blaze?"
"My colors... and my tires..."
"Hmm…" Phoenix seemed to give it a thought. "Well, would you like to have some fresh paint on you? Red and gold instead of black and blue?"
"And I'm sure I've got some extra tires for you," Flame added.
"O-Okay."
"So that's how you got your name, colors and tires," Roarian smiled. "But how did you become Phoenix and Flame's boy?"
Blaze smiled and closed his eyes. They disappeared from that moment and reappeared again, this time at court, with Calvin and Krisha being there while Phoenix and Flame held Young Blaze.
"GIVE BACK THAT BRAT!" Krisha yelled. "HE'S OURS! ANY DNA TEST COULD PROVE IT!"
The small truck, now painted red and gold with his own boosters like his parents, cuddled more in Phoenix's grasp.
"HE'S NOT YOUR CHILD!" Flame yelled. "You BOTH abandoned him!"
"SO?! HE'S WORTHLESS!!" Calvin screeched.
"ENOUGH!"
The judge at the court hit his hammer on the table, catching their attention. He then sighed.
"Krisha, Calvin, for displaying lack of parental responsibility, I hereby remove you parental rights from Blaze,"
"IT'S SMOKE!! NOT BLAZE!!" Calvin yelled.
"From now on, it will be," The judge turned to Phoenix and Flame, handing a sheet of paper over. "As of today, Phoenix and Flame, you are the parents of this child, who's name will be Blaze, in your consents, from now and forever,"
"Thank you so much!" Phoenix said.
"ARGH!" Krisha scowled before turning away. "THIS WON'T BE THE LAST TIME YOU'LL SEE US! WE'LL BE BACK!"
Young Blaze looked up to watch his abusive parents leave.
"Can... I call you Mom and Dad now...?"
"Of course you can, dear," Phoenix smiled and raised the boy up to kiss his cheek. "We're your parents, now and forever,"
"Okay... Mom."
