-An old man's wish-

Prince Vegeta sat on the edge of Kami's Lookout, his dulled eyes looking out over the world. He was old. Older than any human who could remember him. His great-grandson Vegeta Jr. had grown to be an adult in his own right with a family and wife of his own. Vegeta's old but still rough hands gripped the edge of the white tiled ground that he sat on the edge of as he reminisced on his youth.

It had been a long process, but he came to begrudgingly admit that planet Earth was his home. However, as nice as it had been living on earth, his past would catch up to him in the afterlife that he was sure to soon arrive at any month now. His once lively black hair was now a thinner white, and he sported a short but well-maintained white beard and mustache. His forehead and face were beginning to wrinkle, as even with his race's incredible longevity, age still took it's eventual toll on him.

His ever vigilant gaze peered across the world below him. This was his world. This was something he could call his home. It filled him with a warmth he could not explain to someone that did not find a home of their own. Nor would he care to explain it to anyone who would care to listen, for there was nothing to say other than he belonged.

A faint hint of a smile crossed his stern face for a moment as he was lost in his mind.

A fair distance behind him standing quietly was an elderly Namekian wearing flowing purple robes and leaning against a tall wooden staff. Dende was his name, the guardian of Earth. He and Vegeta had come to an understanding over the years that passed by silent like the clouds around them.

Ever since Son Goku had left with the Dragon to where Vegeta assumed was some layer of heaven, Vegeta had taken up the task of defending the earth in place of the group of friends that used to defend the world from threats like Cell and Majin Buu.

The human monk Krillin had died many years ago and his wife Android Eighteen had him buried behind their house. It had hit her hard for many years, but she eventually went on with her immortal life.

Tenshinhan had extraordinary longevity and still practiced martial arts in the Dojo he had opened in the mountains. He was rather successful, and Chiaotzu lived with him the entire time. Tenshinhan had trained many disciples to an acceptable level for the defense of Earth.

Piccolo had secluded himself away, training and honing his mind for whatever threats may face the earth. He was quite powerful, easily surpassing Son Goku's Super Saiyan three form when he had shown it on Earth.

Android Seventeen maintained his island as he always had done, protecting it from poachers and the occasional pranks and sparring of his great grandchildren and Son Goku's.

Closing his eyes, he lay back against the lookout's warm tiles. If he could do it all over in his life, he wouldn't change a single thing.

However, this didn't mean he wanted to die. He still wanted to explore new horizons as he had done for a hundred years. The unfortunate reality of the situation was that he had grown too old for such things. His energy had been dropping over the years of resting and relaxation. He had stopped training thirty years ago when his body no longer could keep up with his regiment.

"If I could regain my youth, oh what I would do" He smiled a sad smile as he thought this. It wasn't as much something he wanted as it was an idea he entertained. Surely he could have gone to New Namek and wished for his youth back, but that wasn't exactly what he wanted. In this universe, he would still have his past. The earth would still be the way he remembered it.

"I guess it really is time to move on" He mused as he opened his eyes and floated up from the edge and towards Dende.

"I'll take you up on your offer Dende. Hell is the only thing that waits for me in this universe. Give me a second chance" Vegeta said slowly, each word accentuated by a slight pause as if he was reconsidering at each utterance.

"Very well. Good luck" Dende said with a soft smile as he raised his left hand and a bright white light enveloped the Lookout. When the light died down, only Dende was left on the empty Lookout.

"Friend" Dende finished speaking, his words floating out from the lookout to the empty skies above, unheard by anyone other than himself.

"He really did it" Vegeta said with amazement as he clenched his two fists at his side and reached deep inside of himself to feel his Chi reserves full of vigour and power he had not felt for many, many years.

Vegeta stood in a clearing of a dense forest. All was normal for him, in fact, it was better than normal in one aspect. He was no longer an elderly man. Instead, he was a young boy, looking no older than ten years old. He wore a small dark blue tracksuit and white Nike running shoes. However, his happiness soon became irritation as he realized the gravitas of the situation.

He was a young boy. Too young for his liking. This must have been Dende's way of a final joke, but it was not funny to him.

His tracksuit began to flutter and twist in a breeze brought about by Vegeta flaring his Chi violently, it's white aura blazing around him, pushing the leaves and needles of the trees away with it's release.

"Oh, that feels good!" Vegeta exclaimed gleefully as he flexed his spry and muscular arms. He no longer felt the strain or the tension that came with old age. While he remembered everything from his past life, his mind felt new and unused. The constant stress was gone, replaced with an alert calmness.

Taking to the sky with a burst of power, Vegeta soared through the sky, enjoying the feeling of the wind on his face as he looped, spun, and barreled through the sky.

He was on his own.

He was free.

Most importantly, he was something he had not truly been for decades.

He was alive.

That's it for the Teaser. I hope you enjoyed it. The actual chapters will be quite a bit longer. Feel free to review and stick around.
