The only possible thing he could be happy about was that it was a weekend. Unfortunately, it wasn't good either because he needed some sort of distraction. Any kind of distraction, any form.

It had been a lonely Sunday. Extremely lonely. He'd concluded all his assignments long since Friday night. There was absolutely nothing to do. His father was extremely busy with the Valentine collection and he guessed Nathalie was too.

He looked through the window, there was a fairly nice view of the city from there. Couples everywhere, flowers and no doubt tons of chocolate and to top it off was the sun setting in a splay of colours making the atmosphere warm and romantic, well... except he didn't feel any of that.

He felt agonizingly lonely. Most of his friends had dates and the only person he'd have guessed was free was Marinette. The thought of the bluenette was enough to bring a smile to his face but unfortunately his dad wouldn't let him go anywhere. He even asked if Marinette could come over but it was the same reply.

He sighed and dragged his feet lazily to his bed. He flopped down face flat on his bed. The unsettling feeling was twisting knots in his stomach. It was safe to say this year's Valentine was ultimately worse than the previous year. He groaned and buried his face even more into his bed.

"Those sounds you make...ugh...you're interrupting my date." Adrien lifted his face to see the said black Kwami in question. He was caressing a large wheel of cheese as he purred lightly.

He couldn't help the chuckle that erupted from him. "Just quit trying to ruin my date because you don't have one." Plagg whined again before sinking his teeth into the soft goo. Adrien did not need to see that. "I think staying single is way better than having an edible girlfriend."

"Suit yourself." He scarfed down the rest of his cheese.

Adrien sighed and buried his face back into his bed. Plagg wanted to cheer him up but he was failing to, he didn't want to admit but he didn't like to see Adrien that way. He resolved to another plan when a light bulb lit over his head.

"By the way, have you checked your mail today? I'm sure there are a lot of letters there." He spoke up again but Adrien only let out a muffled reply of not being interested. "What if you got a letter from your mysterious soulmate?"

"What are you talking about?" Adrien sat upright on the bed, his curiousity aroused.

"You know, your mystery admirer." He flew into his drawer to receive the said heart-shaped card he'd gotten the previous year. The only letter that wasn't signed. Plagg dumped the letter on him.

He picked it up and smiled as he read through it for what would have been the hundredth time in the last year. He couldn't deny the effect the words had on him. Whoever she (hopefully not a he) was, she had a way with words. He put it down and a frown returned, "It doesn't matter, I'm in love with Ladybug."

The thought of his lady in the arms of another person who she loved tortured his thoughts. He shut his eyes and he groaned. "Then go see her and stop making those awful sounds."

He shook his head, "She'll probably also be out with her...her..the guy she's in love with." He couldn't help the painful throb in his chest.

"Then go for a run."

He shook his head again, "And risk seeing those other couples. No way."

"Then go see Marinette."

"A..As Catnoir?"

"As anything. Just stop making those noises and stop sulking."

Adrien chuckled as he figured Plagg was only trying to help, "If I didn't know better, I'd say you're going soft for me."

"Well I'm glad you know better." The Kwami let out a fake scoff making Adrien laugh even more. But then he got serious.

"What if she finds it wierd that Catnoir came to see her or what if she doesn't want to see Adrien, I know how uncomfortable I make her." He began to fret and it was Plagg's turn to groan.

"Are you transforming or not?"

A smile, "Claws out?"

It was a cold evening, kind of the way he felt inside. But the breeze fanning his cheeks gently helped him think properly, clear out his mind.

He dropped down in an alley next to the bakery and de-transformed. In a matter of short steps he was already in front of the bakery. Pushing the door open, the jingle of the bell could be heard. "Sorry we're clos..Oh Adrien, it's so nice to see you. Do you want to see Marinette?"

He nodded as Sabine pat his shoulders lightly. "Marinette, Adrien's here to see you." She called out before hurrying to complete the baking with Tom. The orders had been considerably increased because of the Valentine's day. "Okay then, you know the way to her room." She gestured and he smiled before going in.

As he climbed the stairs, he heard muffled sounds, she was probably on the phone, he thought. He slowly opened the trapdoor and contrary to his expectation, he was met with an empty room. He climbed up to her balcony. Empty too. He could've sworn he heard voices. Maybe he was hearing things. She had probably also gone out with someone too.

He sighed and hung his head before heading out.

"Maybe she left out the other door and we were too busy to notice, though she never leaves without permission." Sabine thoughtfully spoke when Adrien came back down. He nodded. "It's okay, we'll tell her you came by."

"Sure." And he left.

He quickly hid in an alley and transformed again. Maybe a quick run would help. He scaled through the rooftops before deciding to take a stop on the Eiffel tower. He leaned on one of the railings letting the silence take over.

Then he heard muffled sounds. Like sobs. Maybe it was over heightened senses of hearing but it seemed too familiar. He followed the sound, making his steps as light as possible so he wouldn't be noticed.

She had her back to one of beams, her knees pulled up to her chest and her face buried in her hands and muffled sobs left her whimpering lips.

"M'lady?" Hearing his voice, she looked up to be sure she wasn't just hearing things. True he was standing right in front of her, his face doused in pure shock and his brows knitted together.

"M'lady, what happened? Are you okay? What's wrong?" He immediately knelt beside her but she turned away and wiped her tears. She knew she must've looked terrible, but it wasn't even half as bad as she felt.

She wiped her tears immediately, she least expected him to patrol today since it was Valentine's day she expected him to be occupied. She didn't want him to see her that way so she forced a smile and turned back to him.

"It's nothing, It's all good, see." She crooked a thin mouthed smile. She knew he wasn't buying any of what she was saying so she tried to change the topic, "I didn't expect you to be out here tonight."

"Ladybug..." He called softly but his heart was painfully aching inside as he looked at her tearstained cheeks. Her eyes were puffy and her cheeks seems flushed, he had to resist the urge to bang his head on a wall. Where had he been when his lady had been crying? He felt utterly stupid. But the main question was what had happened to her?

She could hear the strain in his voice as he called her name but she didn't want to worry him and turned away. He curled his clawed finger under her chin and made her to meet his gaze. The second their eyes met, she felt a tingle race down her spine. "You're crying, you're not okay. You're far from okay. What's wrong?"

He softly cupped her cheek but she flinched and withdrew. He felt bad but decided to hide it. She knew he was hiding it but she couldn't explain that she withdrew because of the sudden rush of warmth she felt.

"I told you kitty. I'm fine, it's nothing." She forced a smile. He frowned and nodded in negation, "You know you can't fool me, m'lady." He held out his hand to her and she hesitantly took it.

He pulled her up and led her closer to the railings. They both rested and looked down at the city. Now more than ever, it looked breathtaking.

They stayed in silence for a while. He didn't want to push her to talk and she knew that so she let the soft breeze, the view of Paris in the night light and his presence to comfort herself.

"You know, whenever I feel down, I love to come here." She turned to look at him when he started but he kept his eyes trained in the city.

"There's a warm feeling I get whenever I'm here, I can remind myself that I'm the owner of my happiness. But then...It's also quite melancholic. Because I remember how alone I really am." Her lips parted in surprise and she almost forgot what had been bothering her when she saw his eyes. For the first time, she noticed how empty they looked.

"But whenever you're here, it feels different. It feels like I'm home, there's no emptiness, I feel complete." He turned to her, locking their gazes, "I know I may not be able to make you feel that way but I want you to know you're not alone, little bug, I want to be here to help you but I can only do that if you let m-"

She interrupted him as she tackled him a hug. A moment of shock passed by but he slowly wrapped his arms around her. "Thank you." She murmured into his neck making his heart race.

"I haven't done anything yet."

"Thank you for being here." She broke the hug and he let out a small whimper. She giggled and rested on the railings. He copied her and did the same. The silence prevailed again and when he felt the air was clear enough again, he spoke up,

"Will you say what's wrong? If it involves your personal life, you don't have to say though."

She sighed, "I just feel stuck." She thought back to Adrien and how far things had gone yet she still couldn't say her feelings. It hurt. The fact that it was Valentine's day only made her feel even more terrible. "Alone. Lonely. Like it's going to be that way forever and no matter what I do, it can't change."

"That makes two of us." He whispered underneath his breath but she heard.

"I'm guessing your day was as hooped as mine." She mindlessly said.

"I wouldn't say exactly. Having all three meals alone when the rest of Paris is sharing cuddles and kisses is actually an incomparable misfortune." He shrugged like it was nothing but she saw the glint in his eyes. He was in pain. And she didn't know what to do about it.

"See that building over there." He pointed over to a serre quite a distance away, the dome shaped glass roof making it considerably identifiable. "The greenhouse?" She cocked her head to the side in confusion.

He nodded and pulled out his baton. "Race you there?"

A chuckle erupted from her lips and he drowned himself in the melody of her voice. He resisted the urge to sigh dreamily.

"You're on." She smirked at him.

"I could give you a head start, I know you'd need one." He winked but she rolled her eyes and retracted her yoyo. "You wish." And she launched herself while he laughed before doing the same.

She landed on the flattened top of the glassy dome. She looked around but he was no where in sight. "Where is that cat?" She muttered as there was no trace of him. She grumbled and caught the hint that he was trying to scare her.

"I know you're trying to scare me, it won't work. I swear you'd lose a rib if you try it." She looked but still no sign. Looking beneath her, there was a hatch. Maybe he'd already gotten there and gotten in, she thought. She opened it and jumped in, keeping her stance so she'd land rightly on her feet and not on her face.

It was dark except the moonlight escaping in through the glass. Still no sign of the cat. "Oh c'mon, it's not funny." She slowly walked, trying her best not to trip on anything. "Catnoir?"

"I swear if you..." And just on cue, she heard his light steps behind her. She bit back a smirk and once he was close enough, she jabbed him lightly with her elbow and threw him over her shoulder. He landed on the ground with a light thud.

"Too predictable." She huffed and he chuckled.

"How do you do that?" He groaned lightly, making no attempt to stand up. "I told you you'd lose a rib." She leaned forward, resting her hands on her knees to look at him. "I kinda lost two or probably more." He rubbed the spot and pouted.

"Never sneak up on me again." She giggled and crouched down to bop his nose. "I know that now."

He then lifted his other hand with a single flower in it, "Happy Valentine's day, M'lady."

"Why thank you, kitty." She took the flower from his hand and pulled him up with her free hand. She sniffed the flower, the sweet smell invading her nostrils, her nose twitched, and she let out a contingent sneeze.

He looked at her for a moment then chuckled. "Allergic to chrysanthemums?"

"No.." She brushed her fingers over her nose lightly, "I guess I was out long in the cold."

"Cuddle?" He opened out his arms gesturing her to come in but she scoffed playfully and walked past him. "You wish."

"A guy can dream." He sighed dreamily as he watched her smiling to himself. This is the closest he'd felt next to her in a long time and her flirting was about the most irresistible thing he'd ever seen. And here he thought the Dupain-Cheng's croissants were irresistible.

"These things are rare, how'd you get it?" She took a whiff of it's scent again.

"There's a whole room of flowers this way." He gestured her to follow him while he led.

"Cat, that's stealing, you don't pluck the flowers. We're already trespassing."

"Aww, is the little bug scared?" He cooed at her and she straightened her spine, scoffing lightly. "In your dreams."

He chuckled as she trailed behind him. She looked around as it became awfully silent, okay maybe she was a tad scared. A teensy weensy bit. She heard slight movement behind her and she screamed instinctively jumping towards Catnoir.

He easily caught her and she wrapped her legs around him.

"Okay, so you're not scared?" He teased and she hit his chest. "It's not funny, I thought I heard something." He burst out laughing and she pouted, hitting him again. A lot harder than the first time because he also lost his balance, falling backwards.

She shrieked as they toppled over each other till she was beneath and he was on top of her. They looked at the other for the first few seconds before simultaneously breaking into a fit of laughter.

He was still laughing even when she'd stopped, his eyes were screwed shut as he bubbled with excitement. She stared at him, allowing herself to be absorbed in his sweet laughter. He was happy. It wasn't a faux this time, he was really happy.

Her hands had a mind of their own and reached forward to brush back the hair that fell over his face. He froze at her contact.

He looked down at her and for that moment, they stared intently in the other's eye.

The thoughts that were running through her mind were not making any sense and it was scary. Her breath quickened and she felt her cheeks tinge pink. His eyes were so green that she was almost getting dizzy looking into them. They were almost enchanting, so agonizingly familiar.

He traced his fingers over her jawline and breathing became a lot more difficult. What was wrong with her? He softly cupped her cheeks and every brain cell of hers began to malfunction. She tried to control her breathing but her heart was betraying her, pounding even harder.

"I love you so much." His thumb softly brushed over her lower lip. "C..Cat.."

Stutters? What had gotten over her? Too many emotions flooded her mind and she closed her eyes just memorizing the feel of his finger over her lips.

"May I?" He leaned downward till his breath was all over her face. She mentally scolded herself for being affected. They'd never been this close and her idea of putting her partner at arms length was crumbling. Her walls were caving in.

"C..Cat.." She struggled to breathe normally, "W..We..We c-can't."

He didn't look disappointed, he only shifted his hand to her hair. He played with the tiny strays, arranging them properly. She noticed how he placed his weight on his other hand so he wasn't crushing her.

He didn't make any attempt to move, not that she minded but she was wondering what was going through his mind.

"Why do you think we kissed after defeating Oblivio?" It didn't seem like a rhetorical question, it seemed like he was actually wondering, like he needed answers. She looked away when she couldn't handle his intense stare any longer.

"I..uh..I don't know. Neither of us r..remembered anything." She fumbled with her words. He nodded and thought for a while again.

"Why did you kiss me last Valentine's day?"

"I..I was saving you."

"Why did you think it would work? Why didn't you just defeat Dark Cupid and you know...turn everything back to normal?"

It was either he had no idea the effect he was having on her or he was simply enjoying seeing her flustered. She didn't know. But it was definitely the latter.

"I..needed you." She replied breathlessly.

"How were you sure the kiss would work?"

"Only true love conquers hate." And the moment the words left her lips, she gasped in realization and when she looked back to him, he had an undecipherable glint in his eye.

"Are you in love with me?" He tilted his head and she only felt drawn deeper into his stare.

Her breath caught. No, she wanted to say no. But as easy as the word was, she fumbled for words, none coming out as coherent as she wanted.

And then he smiled. "That's what I thought." He feathered a light peck on her nose, "I'll be right back." He got up off her and walked away.

She couldn't think, she couldn't breathe either and she couldn't move. She lay frozen in the spot, trying to catch her lost breath.

It took her a while to realize she was laying on a bed of flowers, well artificial flowers. If she guessed right, they had fallen right into the flower room. She stayed that way, staring at the sky through the glass dome. Not only was her heart a betrayer but she was conflicted as hell.

Soon enough, she felt his presence as he crouched down and looked down at her. He had that smile on his face and a blush crept on her cheeks while her betrayer of her heart began to race. He soon lay down but not next to her. He lay right opposite her on his stomach so he could still look down at her.

"Will you get ice cream with me?"

She didn't trust herself to speak so she simply nodded.

"Can we stay here for a while and..um.. watch the stars?" And suddenly her mouth was a betrayer too.

He chuckled and brushed his nose against hers as he placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Her cheeks flared up and shaded a dark red in an instant. "Sure." He muttered against her skin and she closed her eyes savoring the feeling.

He changed positions and lay beside her so they could both look at the stars like she asked. She entwined their pinkies as they lay side by side in a weirdly comfortable silence.

"If I asked you to jump off a building, would you do it?" She asked suddenly out of the blue.

She least expected him to burst out laughing. What an irony! He had already jumped off one of the highest landmarks in Paris on her insistence and he wasn't even transformed.

"Without a second thought." He replied after coming down from his high. "What was so funny?"

"I'm afraid I'd be risking my identity if I told you why."

She nodded and kept mute for a while.

"You're crazy."

"Over you." He wrapped her hand in his and tightened his grip.

"No, just crazy. Plain crazy. Ordinary, simple and exasperating type of crazy." She scrunched her nose.

"People do crazy things when they're in love, Bugaboo. And I'd rather be crazy in love with you than have it any other way." He rolled on his side to face her.

"So yeah, I am extremely crazy."

To say the least, it was the best Valentine's day he'd ever had, and even if he knew they still weren't a couple, he knew that now he was so close to getting her heart and he'd give anything, absolutely anything to get it. So to say, he was crazy for her.

"Totally, utterly crazy."
