"You're gonna love Neverland," Peter told Alice. "Just love it!"

"I'm already having so much fun," Alice said. "I've always wanted to fly." Alice flew in a circle around Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square. Then they flew straight on toward Big Ben. The children landed on one of Big Ben's large hands positioned horizontally. "You can see the whole city from up here!" Alice said.

"Yep, it sure is pretty," Peter said.

"So how do we get to Neverland from here?" Alice asked.

"Just head toward the second star to the right and straight on till morning."

"Second to the right from what?" Alice asked.

"Just follow me!" Peter said as he launched off from the clock hand and back into the sky. The Lost Boys and Alice followed him in a single file line through the air.

Alice thought it would take them an awfully long time to reach Neverland if they had to fly all the way to that star in outer space. However, by some sort of magic, they reached their destination a lot faster than should have been possible. In the matter of an hour or so, that star miraculously seemed to get closer and closer to them until it transformed into the floating island of Neverland before their eyes.

"Oh, it's beautiful, Peter!" Alice said, looking down at the island. "It's even more beautiful than I imagined!"

"Over there's the Indian Encampment," Peter said, pointing to the west side of the island. "And there's Mermaid Lagoon." He pointed to the east side of the island. "Over there," he said, pointing northeast of the island, "is Skull Rock."

"What about that cove down there?" Alice flew down to a beach located on the south part of the island.

"Wait! Alice, I don't know if you should go there," Peter said, but either Alice didn't hear him, or her curiosity got the better of her.

"We can't let her go there!" Slightly said.

"Come on, then, let's go!" Peter commanded, and they all flew in after Alice.

Alice landed on the sandy beach, and she noticed an array of outrigger canoes laid out along the shore. "How curious. I wonder who these boats belong to." She ventured into the jungle just beyond the beach, and she found a vast arrangement of grass huts. "How very exotic," she said to herself.

Just then, Peter and the Lost Boys flew to her side. "Alice!" Peter said. "We should get out of here!"

"But why? We've only just got here," Alice said.

"Because this is the one spot in Neverland you don't want to be in!" Peter said.

"How come? It seems rather innocent to me."

A troop of tribesmen suddenly emerged from the jungle foliage and began charging toward the children. They wore grass skirts and wooden masks, and they carried spears.

"Because this is Cannibal Cove!" Peter said. "We need to leave now!" Peter and the Lost Boys took flight, but Alice was having a bit of a struggle getting up into the air. The cannibals were getting closer. If she didn't fly now, she was done for. "Come on, Alice, you can do it!" Peter said. "Just think of the happiest things!"

"Well, it's quite hard for one to think of the happiest things at a time like this!" Alice said. However, she managed to lift off the ground just in time, as the cannibals started throwing their spears, and they had just missed her.

"That was close!" Nibs said.

"Yeah, we thought you were about to get shish kebabbed," Slightly said.

"This is why we stay away from Cannibal Cove," Peter said. "The cannibals don't play around, unlike the Indians."

"Goodness. I don't know what's gotten into them," Alice said. The children then soared above a pirate ship floating in the waters beyond the cove. "Oh, my! What a beautiful ship. Who does it belong to?"

"Hook," Peter said. "He's a no-good thief and a crook. The nastiest villain to ever live. You'll want to stay away from him and his pirates, too."

The children then flew over to the Mermaid Lagoon. As they approached it, they saw two beautiful rainbows streaking across the lagoon—one on each end.

"Double rainbows!" Peter said. "You know what that means."

"What?" Alice asked. "What does it mean?"

"Every time there's double rainbows in the lagoon, that's when the mermaids play bubble bounce," Peter said.

"What's bubble bounce?"

"Come on, we'll show ya!"

The children flew down and landed on a rocky cliff overlooking the lagoon. They saw the mermaids in the water bouncing a giant bubble in the air using their tails. One of the mermaids smacked the bubble through the arch of one of the rainbows, and half of them began cheering, while the other half seemed frustrated.

"This is a game the mermaids play," Nibs said.

"There are two teams," Slightly said, "and the mermaids have to bounce the bubble into the other team's goal in order to score points."

"The goals are marked by the two rainbows," Meep said.

"And they can only use their heads or their tails," Jeep said. "No arms."

"It sounds much like football, except in water," Alice said. "Oh, but it looks quite fun! Have you boys ever played with them?"

"Nah, they never let us play," Cubby said.

"Yeah, the mermaids don't like us very much," Slightly said. "They only really like Peter."

"Oh. Well, that's unfortunate," Alice said.

"They may not let you play, but maybe we can get a closer look on the action," Peter said. He flew down to a large rock in the middle of the lagoon.

"Hi, Peter!" the mermaids said. "Do you want to join us in our game?" a blonde mermaid offered.

"Well, only if everyone else can join in, too," Peter said. The rest of the children flew down and landed next to Peter on the rock.

The mermaids all scoffed in disgust. "Why did you have to bring those dreadful boys with you?" a black-haired mermaid said.

The Lost Boys stuck their tongues out at the mermaids and made faces at them. The mermaids splashed water on the boys in retaliation. "Hey, we just had these dried!" Slightly said. "Our new mother washed our clothes for us."

"Well, more like she made us wash our own clothes," Cubby said.

"New mother?" the mermaids said.

"Hello," Alice said, peeking out from behind the group of boys. "My name is Alice. It's wonderful to meet you, ladies. I've always wanted to see real live mermaids."

"Nice to meet you, too, Alice," a red-haired mermaid said, smirking.

"Say, Alice, how about you join us in our game?" another one said.

"Oh, no, thank you. I mean, it does look fun, but I don't have the proper clothes to go swimming right now."

"Come on, we insist," a mermaid said. The mermaids started pulling Alice by her nightgown into the water.

"No! Let go! Please!" Alice said.

"Hey, let go of her!" Slightly said, grabbing Alice by her arms to keep her from being pulled in.

"Stay away from our mother!" the Twins said as they kicked the mermaids' faces.

Cubby grabbed onto Slightly to help him pull back Alice, then Nibs grabbed onto Cubby, and Tootles grabbed onto Nibs. The mermaids suddenly let go of Alice, sending her and the line of Lost Boys tumbling into the water. Peter was laughing hysterically at all the antics. Tinker Bell was giggling along with him, with her jingly bell of a laugh.

"It's not funny, Peter!" Alice said as she climbed back up onto the rock with sopping wet clothes. The Lost Boys all managed to climb back up, too, completely soaked.

"Aw, I knew you guys weren't in any real danger," Peter said.

"Well, we could've been."

"I would've saved you if you were."

"Let's just go somewhere else," Alice said. "I think we've spent enough time here."

"Be sure to come back soon," a mermaid said. "We'd love to play with you some more."

"Certainly not!" Alice said. "I've never met ruder girls in all my life!"

"Yeah, rude and ugly girls," Slightly said.

"And you stink like fish, too," the Twins said.

"You're certainly one to talk about stinking," a mermaid said.

"We still smell better than you," Cubby said.

"Nuh-uh."

"Uh-huh."

"Nuh-uh!"

"All right, all right, that's enough!" Peter said. "I think it's time we go now."

The group of children flew away from the lagoon and found themselves soaring over the dense forests of Neverland. "The people here don't seem very friendly at all," Alice said to Peter. "Except you and the Lost Boys, of course. It is beginning to remind me of Wonderland and all the difficult characters I came across there."

"I'm sorry you're not having a good time in Neverland so far," Peter said to Alice. "It really is a great place once you've explored it more."

"Well, I hope you're right." Alice shivered. "But to tell you the truth, the thing that is most troubling to me right now are these wet clothes. They are making me awfully cold, especially with all this flying in the wind."

"Let's go to the hideout, then," Peter said. "There's a warm fire there to dry everyone off. And while we're at it, we can have something to eat."

"Oh, good, I'm starving!" Cubby said.

"How can you be starving with all that blubber on your body?" Slightly said.

"I meant that I'm hungry."

"Yeah, well, you're always hungry," Slightly teased.

A/N: I've always been curious what Cannibal Cove was like, as it is mentioned in the movie, but it is never seen. Thus, I thought it would be cool to include it here. Obviously, there are bound to be some... unfortunate racial implications with a place called Cannibal Cove, so I tried my best to not associate the cannibals with any one race in particular. There was a PS2 game called "Peter Pan: The Legend of Neverland", and Cannibal Cove was included as one of the levels there, which was my main inspiration for how it is presented here, so if you want to see what I pictured when writing that scene, I recommend looking that up. There, the cannibals aren't depicted as being any particular race; they just wear masks and are covered from head to toe in body paint. I think that's about as tactful as you can depict them.

Anyways, there's also the mermaids' bubble game in this chapter, which was inspired by a passage from the original book that described the mermaids playing a game in which they hit a bubble up in the air using their tails, with a rainbow serving as a goal post. I thought that was such a cool image, and it's never been adapted in any versions of Peter Pan, so I thought it'd be great to include it here.
