Previous Chapter. The Past and Future of her.

Or was it because this Tsunayoshi called her with a name that she did not remember anymore, that she realized belong to her.

Or, was it because…

"But, Tsunayoshi, how could you love me?" She asked.

… she did not love this Tsunayoshi.

Tsunayoshi gave her a little smile. "It's fine. I know what you are going to say."

His smile became sad. "You love Sawada Tsunayoshi, who was your husband, and only that one, because he did not let you go."

"Unlike him, I let her go and gave up on her. I should not have done that." He looked at a letter that was clutched in his hands "I just regretted that it took me so long to realize it."

Chapter 16. Painful Reminiscence.

After the argument between Tsunayoshi and Kanna, she left him alone in his office. That was how it was usually between Kanna and her husband. Even though the current Tsunayoshi was not her husband, they are similar enough that she tended to treat them the same way.

During their marriage, many people outside and inside Vongola saw them as a happy couple who never got into any arguments. Because it was advantageous for them to show a good relationship.

What nobody knows besides them was that they got into a lot of arguments inside their private chamber.

After those arguments, they will retreat into a different room to calm down, depending on where the argument took place. If it happened in the bedroom, then Tsunayoshi will go into his private office, and if it happened in his private office it will be Kanna who will go to the bedroom.

Since the arguments usually took place before bedtimes, Kanna will go to bed after that. But, unlike her, her husband would stay up in his office thinking about their arguments even until he fell asleep on his desk.

She always woke up alone in the morning after their arguments.

Sometimes, she would wake up during the night and found him sleeping on his desk. And, she would take him to bed. Even though she was pretty sure that he was awake, none of them broke the silence.

It was a bit harder to sleep after that, not only because Tsunayoshi would put his head around her shoulder but also because he would slip his hands below her nightgown and wandered around everything above her waist. She stopped mentioning the fact that he almost never touching below her waist again after her pregnancy.

It always flustered her, even though it was not a rare thing anymore. But because, even after years of marriage, his touches were still shy and hesitant, where he would linger in some places and squeeze a bit more in some places as if he was still discovering her body for the first time. Though she had to admit it was not as awkward as their first year together.

She stayed compliant and let him do as he pleased. Because it was easier that way.

Besides the sounds she let out, there was no other sound between them. And despite the excitement, she would fall asleep sometimes later, since her husband know enough how to make her sleepy. Whether her husband stopped touching her after she fell asleep or not, she never asked.

But, the next thing she knew, she was in bed alone. She did not know if Tsunayoshi went back into his office or if he woke up before her. But, she always woke up alone after their arguments, even after those intimate times.

It distressed her greatly, but it was one among the few things that she decided not to mention. Considering, they already had more than enough arguments.

Remembering those nights, reminded her of their last night. It was another argument night where she would take him to bed, but unlike any other nights, they broke the silence.

It was their last night after all. They both know there will be no other chance after that.

Tsuna called his Guardians back into his private office, including Hayato who had come back after sending his message to Byakuran.

Tsuna could have gone to the Gesso territory without sending a message. But, it was more likely that Byakuran would not be there.

After all, Gesso Byakuran is a creature of whim. More often than not he could be anywhere in the world doing whatever caught his fancy. While leaving his right hand, Kikyou to manage his Famiglia.

It would be easier to send a message and wait for him to come rather than looking for him. Unless he asked Fuuta or Yuni for Byakuran's whereabouts, but he was not going to abuse their powers outside of an emergency.

Sometimes Tsuna envies that carefreeness. After all, unlike Byakuran, he could not leave anyone else to manage Vongola.

Tsuna focused his attention back on the present. He looked at Hayato, Takeshi and Chrome. He would have preferred to wait until all his Guardians was here before explaining the situation. But, he could not be careless here.

Unlike the Vongola Base in Namimori, the Vongola Headquarters has eyes and ears that belong to people who are only loyal to Vongola. People that he trusted even less than Byakuran, which was pretty ironic. Considering that Byakuran was trying to massacre the Vongola before he was stopped.

Which was why he needed to explain the situation soon before anyone else caught wind of it. And his private office is the most ideal place for that.

Tsuna sighed tiredly. Which was a cue for his Guardians to begin asking questions.

The Guardians glanced at each other to see which one of them wanted to ask first.

"Mhmm Boss, are you all right?" Chrome hesitantly took the first step.

"Yes, Chrome. I am fine." Tsuna replied tiredly.

"We could postpone this if you like?" Takeshi offered.

Tsuna smiled a little at his Guardians. No matter how tempted he was to postpone the explanation, he needed to do it now.

Hayato kept his silence.

While his Guardians always prioritized Tsuna's wellbeing. Hayato understands the mafia the most and knew what Tsuna needed to do. Though, he was not going to pressure his Boss. So, he decided to remain in silence.

Tsuna looked at the box on his desk. The Guardians followed his eyes.

"Do you remember this box?" Tsuna asked.

The Guardians looked at each other in confusion.

"I got it at my birthday party 4 years ago." Tsuna elaborated.

They looked alarmed. "How did we miss that?" Tsuna could see it written on their faces.

"I don't know that you ever got something like that, Juudaime!" Hayato looked shocked.

"Listen." Tsuna said softly.

The Guardians straightened up. If Tsuna told them to listen then it must be important.

"Do you remember Kanna-san's explanation about Cervello?" Tsuna continued.

The Guardians stayed quiet since it was a rhetorical question. And that question explained some things.

Hayato looked at the box calculatingly. Takeshi examined it more intensely. Chrome looked dazed, which meant she was relaying the conversation to Mukuro.

"Juudaime, are you saying that a Cervello gave you that box?" Hayato questioned suspiciously.

Tsuna shook his head. "Not quite, Hayato."

Hayato narrowed his eyes in concentration. Then his eyes widened in shock.

"Juudaime, do you mean that…" Hayato trailed off hesitantly.

Tsuna shot him a reassuring look. "This person give me this box before she became a Cervello."

"Do we know her, Tsuna?" Takeshi asked curiously.

Tsuna sighed. "Yes."

He could not help reminisce on the time when she was not known to his Guardians.

"Boss, is… is she Lady Vongola?" Chrome questioned softly.

Tsuna furrowed his eyebrows and gritted his teeth in anger and sadness, and quickly looked away from them. Although not quickly enough for them to not notice it.

None of them disturbed the silence. And let the Boss calm down.

"I… I don't… like it." Tsuna said haltingly. "I wish… it was all… wrong."

In the end, Tsuna could not tell them anything else. But, at least the Guardians understand the situation. Anything else, Tsuna felt that he was too emotionally impaired to discuss.

{K~H~R}

Tsuna was sitting in his main office doing the paperwork he had been neglecting. No one else was inside, and he preferred it that way. Work was good to distract him from everything else. Even though the work was not something he fond of.

Absentmindedly, Tsuna remembers that Reborn was still in the infirmary guarding the children, and not there during his explanation. Tsuna found that he did not mind that fact. Because his returning memories also returned his forgotten anger at Reborn for reading that letter out loud.

Tsuna will forgive Reborn. Because Reborn is just as important as his Guardians, maybe even more. So, Tsuna will forgive him eventually. But, not today.

He dismissed the thought and returned to his work. There was a lot to be done and he needed the free time to help the children return home.

He cleared his mind to focus on work. It worked for some times but another thought escaped him.

"Was Kanna-san all right?"

They were not fighting per se, but they did not part way amicably either.

Tsuna shook his head to get rid of the thought. He could not afford to think about that right now, or he would not finish anytime soon.

Then, he noticed something that was not supposed to be inside his office. He blinked in surprised and shock at that something or more specifically someone.

That someone grinned mischievously and waved at him. "You called, Tsunayoshi-kun?"

Tsuna narrowed his eyes at the white-haired menace that only stood a few feet away from him.

It reminded him of the fact that, while he could not find Byakuran without help, Byakuran always seemed to know where to find him. Then, showing up at the least convenient time, though he seemed to only do that to Tsuna.

Sometimes he wondered if it was revenge for killing him in that alternate future. At least, it was only harmless fun, at least for now.

Considering that he did not hear any disturbance outside, only concluded that this person managed to enter his office undetected.

If it was anyone else besides Gesso Byakuran he would be worried. Truthfully, he should be worried, especially because it was Byakuran. The fact that he was not, only because he knows that Byakuran did not mean any harm to his people. At least at the moment.

Tsuna blinked again in contemplation.

He used to think that Byakuran looked nothing like his sister. Because he still could not think about their relationships with anything but horror. Also, because he never paid any close attention to Byakuran's physical features.

But, coupled with the recent return of his memories and Byakuran's proximity, he could not help but noticed that the resemblance did exist. His feeling of horror only multiplied when another thought escaped him.

"The children are Byakuran's niece and nephew!"

"What with that face, Tsunayoshi-kun?" Byakuran's question clued him that he did not manage to hide his feeling.

Byakuran's voice also snapped him out of his thought to notice that his hands were hurting. He looked at his hands which was clenching painfully and realized that his body was restraining himself from strangling Byakuran.

Which reminded him that there was no reason for restraining at all. So, with a speed that he was sure that Byakuran could not dodge, a punch was planted on Byakuran's face. Also, with a bonus that it also slammed him into one of his office's wall.

"Geez Tsunayoshi-kun. I will knock next time when I enter your office if you are that angry about it." Byakuran chuckled.

They both know that it was not the reason for the punch.
