A/N: Quick disclaimer, the chapters will always be in Liza's POV unless specified on the chapter name or at the top of a paragraph.
I rubbed my eyes and yawned as I walked across the corridors of the TARDIS. I pulled my brown hair up into some sort of a bun that came loose immediately (mainly because my hair was too short to be put into a bun and I didn't have a hair tie anywhere on me), and I groaned.
I pulled my hair and tried my best to smooth it out as I continued walking along, groaning in frustration. Why did I have to cut my hair? Oh yeah- braiding my hair was too much work. I rolled my eyes as I walked along, yawning again and blinking. I'd taken a huge chug of coffee and had more sugar than usual, but it seemed like that wasn't doing the trick. At all.
Sexy hummed at me in what seemed like a frustrated tone, and I scowled at her. "What?" She hummed again, exasperated, and I threw my hands up. "I don't understand you!"
She hummed again, a red glow coming from her. "Okay, what are you mad about now?" I didn't know how to speak TARDIS, of course, but I did know that she communicated with a series of colours as well, and tried to work out what she was trying to tell me through her hums.
She hummed again, this time the colour white coming out. I furrowed my eyebrows and narrowed my eyes at her. "Peace? You're angry because of peace?"
She hummed again and I shook my head. "Okay, I honestly cannot understand what the hell you're saying, so we'll have to come up with a code. Hum once for yes, hum twice for no. Understand?"
She hummed once and I took a deep breath, relaxing a little. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled, opening my eyes. "Okay, are you mad at me?"
One hum.
I raised my eyebrows and opened my mouth, "Okay, why-" I shook my head and put my hands in my hair as I tried to smooth it out. "Sorry, only yes or no questions. Does it involve me accidentally spilling syrup on you today?"
One hum. And then a quick two hums. And another quick two hums.
"Yes and no? So you're mad at me because of that but not because of that?"
She hummed twice again, definite exasperation in her tone. I raised my eyebrows again. "Okay, you're not mad at me because of that- or at least that's what I'm guessing because that last answer you gave was confusing."
One hum.
I scratched my head and nodded. "So, that's a yes for you not being mad because of the syrup thing, right? Because it would add to the confusion if you agreed with any other part of the sentence." She started to hum but I held up a hand. "Wait- you're mad at me because of something else, right?"
One hum.
"Okay, okay, I understand now. Sort of." I shrugged, as an exasperated hum came. "Okay, so does your being mad have anything to do with the last adventure we had?"
Two hums. And then one hum.
"What?" I threw my hands up again and felt my eyes start burning again thanks to lack of sleep. I blinked twice and rubbed my eyes. I looked back at the walls of the TARDIS and shrugged. "Okay, I don't know what you're trying to say right now, and this is even more confusing than trigonometry ever was, so I'm probably gonna have to ask the Doctor to translate for me later," I started walking forward and she hummed once.
I shook my head and walked down the corridor, looking for rooms I hadn't already seen before (aka the room where the Doctor decided to keep a bunch of skulls because he was having a "dark phase" and was too attached to them to throw them away- basically Sherlock Holmes's dream come true), humming something absentmindedly.
I walked past more companions rooms, each one having the companion's name engraved in a different coloured plaque. I didn't enter them- mainly because I didn't want to invade their privacy (even though they weren't there). The Master's room popped up again as I walked past a few more companion rooms. It was always in a different place every day. Although, now that I think about it, every room popped up at a different place every day.
Every door I walked past was shut until I reached a wooden door with a bronze engraved handle. It was slightly ajar, a bright yellow light coming from the inside. I frowned and pushed the door open,
I blinked a few times because of the bright light hitting my eyes, and walked in as I slowly got used to the light (well, not really, they were still stinging). I shut the door behind me, turned around, and gasped.
In the middle of the room, there was a replica of the citadel in Arcadia which was as tall as I was. It was held in glass (or maybe some form of transparent rock because however sweet and nice he was, the Doctor was extremely accident-prone and probably would've broken the replica long ago if it was actually made of glass).
I slowly walked toward it, past all the tables and bookshelves. Once I reached the middle, my awe increased. The building was extremely intricate and looked exactly like how the real citadel was (well, how it was in the show, at least, the real Gaiifrey was trapped in a pocket universe, so I'd never been there). I gasped and placed a hand on the glass, smiling.
And then I recoiled back because the glass gave me a slight electric shock. "Ow.." I groaned, clutching my hand and rubbing my palm with the thumb of my other hand. Sexy hummed and I scowled at her. "Why did you do that?!"
After a few more communication attempts with her where I ended up getting even more confused than I was, I finally noticed the sign below the dome, on top of the pedestal it was on. "DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS"
I shook my head as I continued rubbing my hand. "They really should put these things where people can see them instead of electrifying them." I glared at the ceiling of the room, but my expression changed almost immediately as I saw what was on it.
The ceiling was painted red with orange clouds- and of course, the twin suns were painted in a bright yellow. My face slowly twisted into a grin as I spun around slowly, taking in the rest of the room (which was initially blocked out thanks to the untouchable glass citadel, which frankly wasn't interesting anymore- thank you, 'do not touch' sign).
The wall on the far side was what drew me in the most, though. It was covered in pictures and had a desk and a chair in front of it. The desk had a red mug with bananas all over it, and there was a coffee machine on it as well. There were wrappers strewn on the floor near a small metal dustbin, right beside a few crumpled up papers.
I walked toward the desk and the pictures slowly. The desk was empty except for the mug, the coffee machine- and a piece of paper with Gallifreyan writing on it. It looked a lot like an old photograph. I raised my eyebrows and picked it up, turning it around to see the faces of the people on it, or the scenery it had captured. There were two young men in it, wearing the Gallifreyan collar thingies. One of them was stoic and serious, while the other looked like he wanted to murder the photographer and run away.
I laughed at the Doctor's expression in the picture. He really did look like he wanted to strangle the Time Lords for making him wear something as hideous as that. The other man- the Master, maybe, seemed to look more comfortable in his clothes (or was doing a very good job of hiding his displeasure).
I pocketed the picture and put a hand on another picture on the wall. It was black and white, and had the First Doctor on it- looking very much like William Hartnell when he played the role- standing beside an amazed Susan Foreman. Susan was grinning madly at everything around her, while he looked like he was completely and utterly done and just wanted to get back to the TARDIS or something.
I laughed again. The Doctor being annoyed was certainly something hilarious- well, unless we were being chased by a bunch of Daleks in a spaceship or something. The other pictures in the room were those of himself and the Time Lords, or of Gallifrey, and occasionally some of him and his companions- mainly Susan. The younger version of him was extremely easy to locate in all the Time Lord pictures thanks to his standard expression- everyone's all time favourite, the 'I am utterly and completely done with the universe' look.
I blinked again as the light hit my eyes, and wiped them as they involuntarily started watering. I looked through all the other pictures and paintings of Gallifrey- the Citadel, what I thought was the Academy, the red skies, the twin suns- it was exactly like how he described it- or exactly how he would describe it when he would be hunted by his psychotic best friend.
After I finished looking around the room, I slowly walked out after looking at the model of the Citadel one last time. I closed the door behind me as I continued walking down the corridors. More closed doors. More rooms with Gallifreyan engravings on them.
I walked for a bit longer, yawning every few moments and blinking extremely often. Soon, I found another door that was slightly ajar- except this door had metal engravings all over it, even though it was made of wood. I took a deep breath and pushed it open, only to jump almost a mile high because the first thing I saw was a huge wood and metal deer head on the wall. I ran out immediately after that and took a few deep breaths to calm down, glaring at the walls of the TARDIS as she hummed- sounding a little (no, scratch that- very) amused.
"Not. Funny." I gritted my teeth and took a deep breath. My heart rate had finally reduced to a normal rate, and I slowly pushed the door open, closing my eyes. After I had fully gotten in, I opened my eyes, my heart beat increasing a little.
I sighed after I looked around me casually. The deer thing was the only thing that actually creeped me out in the room, which was filled with glass display cases that had all sorts of alien stuff in it, ranging from weird looking rocks to helmets and parts of spaceships.
Each glass case had a label on it, stating the name, the planet, and the timezone on it. I walked around, looking at all the things in there (but I didn't touch them- I probably would've gotten electrocuted a lot harder if I touched anything after last time).
The more I looked at everything, the more I realised how many places the Doctor has actually gone to and that I'd underestimated him and Sexy by a country mile. There were helmets and rocks and instruments and even leaves and flowers placed in life support jars.
I was looking at a purple flower from the planet Cledestines when a tremor knocked me off my feet. I fell down and was pushed toward a wall as the TARDIS seemed to tip over. The contents of the glass cases were getting thrown about in their cases, which were attached to the floor.
I groaned as I hit my head on a display case and slowly stood up as the tremors stopped. I looked up at the ceiling. "Was he really driving you that insane that you had to unground us and make him fly into God knows where?"
Two hurried hums. I frowned, and then fell down again as more tremors came. But these were bigger ones, like the TARDIS was experiencing an earthquake. My breathing quickened as I was tossed around the room and struggled to find something to hold on to.
These tremors stopped as well, and I staggered onto my feet, holding the bottom of a display case as a support. I looked up at the ceiling. "What's happening? Are we in danger?"
One hum. My heart rate increased again, and I took a deep breath, swallowing hard. "Well, looks like I'll need to get to the Doctor, then."
One hum.
I walked toward the door, stumbling a little as my legs felt like jelly for some reason. After I walked out, I turned to the walls. "Lead me to the Doctor, okay? He'll probably be in the console room or whatever."
She hummed once and I started walking down the corridor, which turned into a straightforward pathway, presumably to wherever the Doctor was. As I was walking toward the console room, a few possibilities ran through my mind. Could it have been the Chula hospital thing? But was that really big enough to cause two earthquakes in the TARDIS? Or maybe, were we attacked? Or hit by something? Or was it just the Doctor attempting to get the controls working again?
I took a right turn as Sexy prompted me that way. And then, more tremors. Much worse this time. I screamed as I was thrown down and slid across the corridor. I turned sideways and stretched my legs out, suspending my body between the two walls of the corridor as more tremors happened. My strategy seemed to be working fine, as I wasn't being thrown about. Although, my legs started to feel like they would break because of the pressure I was putting on them to maintain the position I was in. I bit my lip hard and pushed harder as an extremely powerful tremor shook the TARDIS again.
And then, everything came to a stop. I sighed as I slowly bent my legs and felt the pressure benign released. I took a deep breath and stood up. I was about to start walking forward and go back to the console when the lights suddenly went off.
I jumped and held onto the wall, which was colder than it was before. "What the-" I backed up a little and closed my eyes as I swallowed gard. Maybe this was just a minor power failure, the lights will come on again. I took a deep breath. Don't cry. Calm down.
I clenched my hands into fists as I inhaled deeply. Sweta prickled at the back of my neck and at my shoulders. I shivered, as everything started to become colder around me. It was especially cold where I was sweating, and I shivered as goosebumps slowly started forming and as a chill went down my spine.
I opened my eyes again. No lights. The TARDIS was cold. And my heart rate was faster than it had ever been.
A/N: Okay, honestly this chapter was so hard to write and keep to a normal length because of the fact that there wasn't much dialogue istg... description is something I struggle with lol.
Anyway, what do you guys think is going on? The next chapter will probably be in Rose's POV or have a bit of everyone's (I'm probably leaning more to the second option because even though I have in mind exactly what I'm gonna do for Rose, like I said, she's gonna be alone for a while and there's only so much you can describe without it getting over the top). This is my first original adventure they're having and I really hope it turns out well lol..
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! Thank you so much for reading!
