The first thing I noticed was the fact that everything in front of me looked like psychic paper when you try to convince someone something impossible. Oh, and my head felt the same way it did when I was in school trying to study physics. "Ow."
I tried to get up, but everything became even more squiggly and a stabbing pain shot through my head. "Double ow." I groaned, closing my eyes and gripping onto the closest thing for balance. I clutched my head with my other hand as a buzz sounded in my ears, making everything worse. I whimpered as a pair of hands pressed my temples gently.
"Massive concussion and a semi brain freeze- how long were you even walking there?"
I tried to say something, but my head felt like someone was pounding on it continuously with a blunt rod from the inside, so all I managed was a whimper and another "Ow."
"Doctor, she's clearly in pain, is this really the best time to ask her that?"
"But I need to know what the hell happened so I can help her!"
"Don't you have a sonic screwdriver or other technology for that?" Rose's voice was slowly rising, and we all know that the Doctor loves being the loudest person in the room.
"It's in the med-bay, which is in the currently shrinking and dead TARDIS!"
I jerked upward and flinched as my head went on another rollercoaster ride, only for two pairs of hands to grab onto my shoulders. "Definitely a concussion. You seem to be extremely prone to those." The Doctor murmured, and I groaned softly. I opened my mouth to say something, but got shushed by the Doctor. "Is-"
"Whatever it is, it can wait," He let go of me as I slowly opened my eyes, blinking a bit to try and see everything properly. I rubbed my eyes, but that only seemed to make my headache worse.
"Oh, wait, I almost forgot," I blinked a few times again as the Doctor handed me something. It was a rectangular purple blob thing. I frowned and took it from him. "Why do you have my phone?" My voice was hoarse, and I had to clear my throat to speak properly.
"You gave it to me to play Candy Crush, remember?"
I scowled at him, "That was three TARDIS days ago, idiot, I thought I lost it."
He shrugged and pulled a cylindrical box out of his pants pocket. He looked at the label and shook his head. "Nope," He threw the box behind him and pulled out another one that looked identical to the previous one, "Could use them, but not now," More throwing. He took out a bunch of cylinders and other weird objects, including a hammer, a novel, and a trumpet, all of which were casually strewn across the console room.
After a few minutes, he pulled out a blue cylinder, looked at it and grinned. "Ah, finally! Here." He handed me a small white pill. "Helps with concussions, from the 53rd century, don't worry, it's for humans and it's perfectly safe. Chewable."
I frowned and took the pill. "Are all your pockets bigger on the inside?"
He rolled his eyes, "Of course not! I conjured up everything from thin air!"
I scowled at him as I put the pill in my mouth. I flinched as it's taste hit me. "Is this supposed to be lemon flavoured with extra lemons?"
He shrugged and went back to the console. After I chewed and swallowed the godawful pill, I looked up at him as he was flicking a random switch on the console. "Okay, so is anybody gonna tell me what the hell is going on?"
The Doctor didn't answer, still looking at the console intently. It looked even more dramatic thanks to the fact that the flashlight on the ground was pointing to him, making him fall under somewhat of a spotlight. Rose, however, did answer. "According to him, the TARDIS is dead and won't be bigger on the inside anymore unless he comes up with a plan to save the day,"
I frowned, rubbing my temples with my fingers. "How can she be dead? I mean, there's so many more series and episodes remaining, and she was very much alive during all of them!" And then the Name of the Doctor came into mind. I shrugged. "Most of them."
The Doctor raised an eyebrow at me. "Spoilers, but everything usually turns out okay in the end! And by usually I mean TARDIS-wise." And then I realised that The Doctor's Wife existed. "Emphasis on the usually."
The Doctor's expression didn't change, and I threw my hands into the air. "But this isn't the biggest of our priorities now, is it?"
"No, it isn't. And I'm gonna pretend that you didn't just confuse the hell out of me, focus on the problem at hand and hope to God that I don't have to deal with all that for a while." He grinned at me humorlessly and turned back to the console.
"Anyways, like I asked earlier, what the hell happened?"
"I'm assuming we got hit, which had a massive toll on the power systems and on the TARDIS subconscious, hence the darkness and the cold. But the console room should be safe. For the time being, anyway."
"But who would hit us?" Rose asked, and I shrugged. "I dunno, this place doesn't seem to be a place where wars happen, so I'm assuming we didn;t get by a warship. Or it could be one of the Doctor's numerous enemies."
"Nah, I don't think it's that serious- probably just a cleaner vessel." He turned toward us and continued, flicking a switch. "That's a ship that obliterates space junk or any other unrecognisable and suspicious objects from the star system. And since we're in a trade site like Clonden, it's pretty common to have ships like that around."
"But don't we have shields to prevent that from happening?"
"I tried to get into Rose's dad's time stream, remember? I had to take the shields off for her to go there without a fuss!" He folded his hands and looked down at the console. "And now I killed her." He gently ran a hand across the console. I tried to stand up to go near him when something black slid off my shoulders.
I frowned and picked it up as Rose walked toward the Doctor. I picked it up and was going to give it to the Doctor, but he shook his head. "You need it more right now- Rose has her blanket and I have Time Lord genetics. I can't let you get hypothermia right after I saved you from almost actually getting it." He forced a small smile at me, and went back to looking at the console, as if willing it to come back to life.
I smiled and put the jacket on, shuddering at how much warmer I felt. I went toward the Doctor as Rose was muttering about things getting alright soon. He didn't say anything to her, but I knew that he didn't believe her. However, I did. Mainly because if things didn't get alright, Earth would get destroyed by the Dalek Emperor in the year 200100 because of all the nonsense that happened in The Long Game. Well, at least that was the most impactful- there were probably a billion things that wouldn't have happened if we hadn't died there.
Rose looked up at me as the Doctor buried his face in his hands. I shrugged and put a hand on his shoulder, patting him as he drew in a sharp breath. I looked at him and frowned. "Doctor, you don't happen to have a spare TARDIS battery thing lying around here, do you?"
"No, why?"
I shrugged and looked up, biting my lip. "Nothing," Either it was somewhere else, or Sexy really wanted to save that one for The Rise of the Cybermen. Or maybe not everything could be solved by a random deus ex machina. Either way, that was a stupid solution, and would probably do nothing to boost his hope.
I took my hand off his shoulder and pulled the ends of the leather jacket together, shivering. There had to be a way to get out of this. And there had to be some form of evidence that the TARDIS was alive and could be used to get out of the star system we were in and somehow go to a safe place.
I bit my lip and looked at the console, taking a deep breath. There had to be an episode where something like this happened- Flatline! I threw my hands up and started pacing around. The Doctor was stuck in siege mode- no, wait, that wasn't- I sighed and leaned against the edge of the console as Rose and the Doctor looked at me curiously. I shook my head. "Thought I had an idea, but that would only involve draining the life support- wait!"
My eyes widened and I looked at the Doctor, who was frowning at me. "What?"
I smiled, sighing in relief, "The life support! That's sustained by the power, isn't it?"
He nodded, eyebrows scrunched up together. "But what's that got to do with this?"
"Everything! Literally everything- what sustains the power?"
He frowned at me. "The TARDIS's life force- Oh!" His iconic grin made it to his face again. "Oh!" He stood up and grabbed my shoulders. My eyes widened in surprise, and he hugged me. "Liza, you're a genius!" The blood rushed to my cheeks and I smiled softly.
"Fantastic!" He let go of me and ran toward the console, passing an extremely confused Rose. "Doctor, what happened?"
He grinned and hugged Rose, who gasped. "The life support! It's sustained by the TARDIS's life force, meaning, if she was dead, we wouldn't be alive!"
"So what happened, then?"
"Not sure, but I think she's using her life force to sustain us since we seemed to be hit pretty badly- she's using up her strength to keep us alive!"
"Good old Sexy!" I patted the console, hoping that she could feel it.
"But how are we gonna get her strength back?" Rose frowned, walking behind the Doctor who was jumping around like crazy. He stopped, however, once she asked him the question. "We'll have to be confined to one place again. So that I can try to fix her."
"But we'll have to dematerialise for that, and you said she's weak," I said.
The Doctor frowned. "You do have a point," He then looked at the two of us with his 'I have a plan but I have absolutely no idea if it'll work' face. "Unless-" He frowned and looked down again, "Nope, too dangerous, we'll have to think of something else."
"What is?"
"Like I said, it's too dangerous and we only have one shot at it. I can't guarantee your safety." He shook his head and Rose frowned.
"You said that when we were in Downing Street, but we escaped alive. Whatever it is, it'll work."
He opened his mouth to protest, but I interrupted him. "And if you don;t use your risky method, there's a chance the TARDIS's life force would drain before you think of something else."
"Come on, Doctor, just tell us what it is."
He looked up at the two of us and sighed. "Guess there's no convincing you two, is there? Anyway, I could re-route all of her power here, but the problem's that her life force would drain at a really quick rate. We'll be able to dematerialise only once, and even that's a long shot."
I took a deep breath, looking at Rose, who nodded at me. I turned toward the Doctor. "Only one way to find out. Got a destination in mind?"
The Doctor stared at me, open-mouthed. "You're seriously up for this?"
I looked at him, eyebrows scrunched up together. "Like I said, got a destination in mind?"
He frowned, but sighed, scratching the back of his neck. "Yes," He turned to Rose, "Your mum would be in for a pleasant surprise, and hopefully not slap me again."
I laughed at that comment, and Rose smiled, looking a little crestfallen. "We're going home, then."
"Only for a few months. So that I can fix the TARDIS."
She took a deep breath and smiled, "Alright, then."
He looked back at me and started pressing a few buttons. "Alright then, both of you, do exactly as I say, and Liza, yes, we're not in the usual console room, and no pressing any red buttons because you think they look interesting."
"You think I'm stupid enough to do that at a time like this? I'm offended."
He ignored me as he pressed a few buttons and pulled a lever. "Alright then, rerouting power. Just a warning, it might get a little hard to breathe since the life support wouldn't be that strong."
I took a deep breath and nodded, exhaling as slowly as possible, which proved to be hard, judging by all the adrenaline coursing through me.
"Rose, flick all those switches over there. The blue ones only, and be careful and look carefully even though we're a bit scarce on light." The Doctor then turned to me as she started flipping the switches she was told to. "Liza, pull that lever over there."
I pulled the lever and pulled my phone out of my pocket, turning on the flashlight, pointing it at the Doctor. "Here's some light,"
He took the phone from me and placed it in a compartment in the console. The place brightened up considerably. I should've thought of this sooner.
The Doctor ordered us around for a bit as he typed furiously on a screen he had pulled toward him. A few moments later, the console room lit up, and I took a deep breath.
The Doctor pulled a lever and asked me to hold down another one, while Rose pressed a few buttons. I held onto the console tightly, taking a huge breath as I was jerked upward. I tried to hold it as much as possible so that I wouldn't run out of air or anything, but it didn't take long for my head to start spinning.
I tried to exhale as slowly as possible, trying to give in to the temptation of letting it all out at once, but I was thrown about again, and I was puffing and panting as I struggled to hold onto the lever.
"Liza, don't let go!" The Doctor yelled, as he ran around. I nodded weakly and tried to ignore my dizziness and numbness. My head felt like it was becoming soup as the Doctor's prediction started to come true, but that contrasted with the adrenaline coursing through me, which caused me to have a pounding headache. I clenched my teeth and closed my eyes tightly, trying to ignore everything that was happening around me.
The passage of time is an illusion. I squeezed my eyes shut even more as I tried to concentrate on the Twelfth Doctor's voice instead of my actual surroundings. And life is the magician.
Another huge jerk, and I was brought back to reality. I strained as I tried to hold the lever down, the TARDIS tilting sideways. The passage of time is an illu-
Thrown around more. The more I tried to concentrate on the speech, the more distracted I became, and the more twists and turns came in the ride. My head felt worse than it did two minutes ago, and the constant tilting of the TARDIS wasn't helping. But this was our only chance of staying alive, and I couldn't let go of the lever under any circumstances.
A few twists and turns later, we halted to a stop, and I slid down onto the ground and lay down on my back, puffing and panting, with more effort especially because of the air supply.
A/N: Hey guys! Welcome to episode idk what number of me giving Liza another head concussion! Lol- anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, and I promise you, we'll be meeting Jack soon! But before that, we're gonna meet Jackie! And Ric- Mickey, Mickey, I swear I have his name right.

NeoMulder: Honestly, exams can be the absolute worst when it comes to creativity! Also I agree with you about the whole dimensions thing because I remember that in an episode, the TARDIS was becoming bigger on the outside as well when she was dying (I think it was the series 7 finale, not sure), but I honestly make up all sorts of sciency stuff to fit the story lol. Also, I'm so happy that you liked this chapter, you're so sweet 33
