Jack groaned as he got up, taking support of the railing which he had almost crashed into. "Would it kill you to drive more carefully?"

"Yes." I said, standing up. I smoothed out my hair and pulled it into a ponytail, walking toward the TARDIS doors.

"I do drive more carefully! The bumpy ride is an extra. For fun."

"Then explain why I almost got ripped to shreds by your railing."

"She just doesn't like you, that's all!"

I turned around and sighed. "Jack, you'll get used to it, believe me. The trick is to find something to hold on to and lodge your legs into. That way you won't get thrown around if she blows off course."

"And it gets fun once you get over the whole 'fear of getting thrown about' thing," Rose left the console and ran toward the doors. "So, where are we then? Dethroe? Clandestine Everett? The Trojan Meadows?"

"21st century London?"

Everyone looked at me with raised eyebrows and I threw my hands up. "What? Excuse me if I guessed the one place we tend to spend ninety percent of our time in."

"It's not my fault we have to go domestic half the time because of her mum and Ricky!" He gestured to Rose, scowling.

"His name is Mickey!" Rose and I said at the same time, and he scowled. "I get to call him whatever I want, and I wanna call him Ricky, so I'll call him Ricky."

"Doctor, we'd be dead if it weren't for Mickey, just use his proper name!" Rose glared at him, and he scowled back. I cleared my throat, making the two of them look at me. "And if that doesn't make you start calling him Mickey, the fact that we're actually gonna meet someone called Ricky in the future should."

"When's that gonna happen?"

"Episode five of the next series." He raised an eyebrow at me and I shrugged, biting my lip. "Sorry, Doc, s-"

"Spoilers. Yeah, I know." He threw his hands up and walked toward the doors. "And to answer Rose's question before we got sidetracked-"

"-like we always do-" Jack said.

"Yeah, thanks Jack, I hadn't noticed." The Doctor turned away from Jack and to Rose, "Like I was saying, we're in Alpha Petrakis. Third most beautiful planet in the known universe! As of the 78th century anyway, Nohadon takes its place in 8756."

"Why third, though? Why not the second or the first?" Rose asked, reaching for the door.

"The most beautiful planet's full of tourists, and Apalapucia, well," I shuddered, climbing down the stairs, "We don't talk about that here." The Doctor raised an eyebrow and I shrugged. "Well, at least I don't, because,"

"Spoilers," Everyone said, folding their hands in a very accusative tone. I shrugged, "What? Would you rather have me tell you the stories of all the tragic things that may or may not happen in your futures?"

The Doctor shook his head. "No, but now you've made me nervous about Apalapucia."

"I did?" I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him. "Okay, forget I said that. Apalapucia is a magical place."

The Doctor shook his head. "You see? This is what happens when you make a reference. People get scared."

"Isn't that supposed to be a good thing?"

"How is being scared supposed to be a good thing?" Rose raised an eyebrow.

I shrugged. "Fear keeps you fast. Fast is good."

"And what idiot taught you that?" The Doctor asked.

I snorted and looked up at everyone's questioning faces. "Sorry, it's just that a thing happened three regenerations early."

"Three whats?" Rose asked, and I opened my mouth. "S-"

"Okay, moving on from the future preview," The Doctor said loudly, moving toward the doors. "I present to you Alpha Petrakis in its full glory, with all of it's fountains, gardens, spires, and-"

I pushed the doors open, stepping out. "And sand?"

"What? Sand? Of course not, what's gotten- why is there sand everywhere?!" The Doctor stepped out, freezing (ha! The irony) as he saw where we were.

We were on a planet that was covered with sand as far as the eye could see. Dunes dotted the place, giving variety to the terrain. The sun- no, wait, suns beat shone bright in the sky, each in a different shade of orange, making the sky look like it was permanently stained orange, blue and white.

I looked up at the Doctor, who was scratching his head. "I dunno, Doc, I wasn't the one who was driving."

He scowled at me. "That was a rhetorical question, idiot."

"And this is coming from the biggest idiot in all of time and space."

"I'm trying to not be offended again."

I clicked my tongue. "Still not doing a good job of it, sweetie."

"Ahem," The two of us turned around to see Jack, who was standing at the doorway in front of Rose. "This isn't Alpha Petrakis, is it?"

I shrugged, "Unless this is a retelling of Planet of the Dead, no."

"Planet of the what?" Rose lifted Jack's arm, threw it over her head, and walked out, leaving a scowling Jack Harkness at the doorway.

"It's the name of an episode."

She nodded and turned to the Doctor, who was looking at his watch. "But seriously, a desert?! You said the planet had fountains, spires and gardens. Or something."

The Doctor frowned at his watch, shrugged, and looked up. "Well, we seem to have gone a little, er, off course-"

"Yeah, no shit," Jack scoffed, stepping off the TARDIS.

"So what do we do, Doctor?" Rose looked up at him and he shrugged.

"Well, we can't really stay here because there's nothing to-" I paused, frowning. "Do you guys hear that?"

There was a vibrating, whooshing noise coming from somewhere. Somewhere close. "It sounds like a storm," Jack cupped an ear with his hand.

"It sounds like it's close." I strained my ears, frowning, "Really close."

The vibrations became more prominent, and the sound became louder. The vibrations were so much that the sand near us was bouncing up and down. I looked up in alarm. It was right underneath us. I staggered back, my feet starting to sink into the sand. The Doctor grabbed my arm, pulling me up momentarily as he backed away himself.

"Doctor, what's happening?!" Rose screamed, grabbing hold of the Doctor and Jack as she started to sink in as well.

"I don't know, but we have to get away from the sand!"

"That's brilliant! It's not like we're in a freaking desert or something!"

"Liza, is this really the time?!" Jack yelled, stumbling as he tried to get away from the sand, which was slowly shaping into a spiral.

I lifted my leg high, placing it behind me with great difficulty, holding on to the Doctor's arm tightly. "We're possibly gonna die so I'd better have some amazing last words!"

"Nobody is dying!" The Doctor yelled, his voice almost indistinct because of the whooshing sound, despite the fact that he was right next to me. I lifted another leg, gripping on to the Doctor with both hands as the sand started to pull me in further. I placed the leg behind, getting a mini heart attack at how quickly it sunk in.

"Guys?!" Jack yelled, "If we die in here, I want you to know that I'm the-" The whooshing stopped. "Most good looking of the four of us!" Jack's voice was louder than anything, now that all the background noise was gone.

The Doctor scoffed and started arguing back. I pulled my leg out with ease, as the vibrations and whirlpool were also gone. I let go of the Doctor and turned around, my eyes widening at the sight that was now in front of me.

"Hey, look," Rose cleared her throat, possibly trying to stop the Doctor and Jack from arguing. "The sandstorm thingy is gone!"

"Yeah," I whispered, my breathing and heart rate slowly increasing in speed. "And so is the TARDIS."

A/N: Hey guys! This was a preview for the original chapter I have planned out, which is why it's so short. I'm so sorry for not updating in a while- I wanted to wait till I finished writing the whole book so that it would be easier for me to post it, and now that I've finished book 1, and will be posting a new chapter every day, which is a relief imo. I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope you all enjoyed the chapter!

NeoMulder: He doesn't love Rose in a romantic way at this point, and he doesn't see it as a way to feel jealous at this point. About River, it is really difficult to decide what to do with her what with her being the Doc's wife and all, but I'm hoping my plan works on what to do with her lol. Anyway, this is extremely overdue, but I'm glad you liked the previous chapter!
