Chapter 3
Ainz Ooal Gown, the ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, was on his way towards the Library of Ashurbanipal. Escorting him were several Eight Edge Assassins specialized in Assasination. A few of them could easily overpower a level 100 player, due to their skill to land critical hits. Even a seasoned player has to be cautious while dealing with them.
The beauty of the Great Tomb of Nazarick never ceased to amaze him. All of this was possible only because of the hard work of his friends. They had gone on countless adventures, raided many dungeons and defeated many game bosses. Those were the happiest days of his life he could remember. But everything has to end one day. Slowly his friends left him to pursue their goals in the real world. He was not not angry with them, he knew they had to make a choice , everybody would choose real life over a virtual one.
Even though all of his friends have left the Great Tomb of Nazarick, he would never do the same. After all, he had poured his heart and soul in it. The NPCs were children of his friends. How could he leave them? How could he abandon them? If need arises , he would protect them with his life.
After a short walk, he was standing in front of the double doors of the library. Two golems stood guard on either side of the doors. These were level 55 metal golems, they only served as decorations in front of the library. Recognizing who was coming, the golems bowed and opened the doors for him. Soon Ainz was inside the library.
To say that the Library of Ashurbanipal is huge is an understatement. No matter in which direction Ainz looked , he could only see the sea of books and scrolls. Soon five overlords came into his view. They were guardians of the library. Each of the overlords was above level 75. Their names were based on five good emperors of the Roman empire - Cocceius, Ulpius, Aelius, Fulvius and Aurelius. As soon as they saw the master of the Tomb, they bowed to him and returned to their guard duty.
Acknowledging the overlords, Ainz went deeper into the library to find the librarian ,Titus.
Just as he reached the centre of the library, he found the librarian cleaning and neatly arranging books on the shelves. As soon as Titus saw who was approaching him , he knelt before the master of the Tomb.
"Raise your head ,Titus." Ainz said in his deep voice befitting a great ruler. "I have come here in search of Data Books regarding the summoning of ships. If I remember correctly we had a few in our inventory."
"Indeed it is as you say my lord. We have many data books required to summon different ships. What kind of ships do you want?" Titus asked.
"I am in need of some frigates and galleons. Go, bring me Data Books regarding the summoning of the ships of these classes." Ainz ordered.
Who am I kidding? I said those names only because I had read about them in some manga. I don't even know the difference between them. But i am pretty sure those are some hard hitting ships, so it doesn't matter.
Titus returned in a few minutes with some Data Books floating behind him.
"These are the items you asked my lord." Titus said. "The blue ones contain data of frigate class ships named 'Black Pearl' of level 60. And the red ones contain data of Galleon class ships named 'Ship of Doom' of level 75."
Ainz took the Data Books from Titus and placed them in his inventory. Turning to the librarian he said "Thank you, Titus. I will be leaving now."
Saying this , the overlord of death started walking towards his office. But unknown to him, he had left the librarian equally overjoyed and shocked as his master had thanked him for his service.
After a short walk, Ainz arrived at his office.
Oh! It seems demiurge has not yet arrived. Well, it is good for me. As a boss I can't be late. But demiurge is never late, he is always on time. I can't blame him, after all he is one of the hardest working people in Nazarick. With recent conquests , his workload must have increased considerably. I feel like a bad boss who dumps work on his employees.
As Ainz was lost in his thoughts, a knock came from the cixious opened the doors , demiurge entered the room and bowed deeply.
"Forgive me Ainz-sama for arriving late. Please punish me as you wish." demiurge said.
Ainz was momentarily taken aback by the sudden request of punishment. He could never get used to such sudden outbursts of his subordinates demanding punishments even for insignificant mistakes.
Composing himself Ainz said, " T...Think nothing of it demiurge, you have arrived just in time. Come here, have a seat." Ainz gestured to one of the seats in front of him.
Demiurge took a seat as ordered by his master and said, " My lord, I am very grateful for your mercy. I will not make the same mistake again."
What mercy? Well they always take such minor incidents too far. I should quickly change the subject, otherwise it would get quite awkward.
" As I said , think nothing of it." Ainz Said in his deep voice . "Now let us get down to business."
Saying this , Ainz took out the Data Books from his inventory and placed them on his desk in front of demiurge.
Gesturing to the piles of Data Books, Ainz said "These are the Data Books required for summoning mercenary ships. The blue ones can summon ships named 'Black Pearl' of level 60. And the red ones can summon ships named 'Ship of Doom' of level 75. As I have ordered you to search for the new continent, I give you full authority over the feel free to summon more ships as you see fit. Remember, your secondary objective is to explore and dominate the oceans."
" Understood my lord. I will not fail you." demiurge said with fierce determination evident in his diamond shaped eyes.
NO! You got it completely wrong. I have assigned this task to you so that you can relax a bit , giving you a chance to freshen up due to the change of your daily routine.
" You are dismissed demiurge, return to your duty." Ainz said.
Receiving his master's orders, demiurge picked up the Data Books piled on the desk and placed them in his inventory. Once again he deeply bowed to his master and left his office.

A female figure was standing on the balcony of a palace. To say the female is beautiful would be an insult to her beauty. She had a tanned body, raven black hair tied in a bun behind her head and long pointy ears indicating her dark elven heritage. She was wearing a dark purple dress with golden markings on it.
She gazed at the city underneath her. The buildings and other infrastructure was remarkable, as it was created by the dark dwarves. But the citizens were not happy. Everybody was tired. In its history of hundreds of years , the city has never been so quiet. But she knew the reason behind it . It was war, war with the holy alliance. The war had affected everybody.
Actually she was also very tired, but she could not show weakness in such dire circumstances. After all, the future of her race depends on it.
After a short while she sensed another female presence approaching behind her. Knowing who would have entered her chambers, she turned to address her.
The female who entered was also a dark elf. But she was adorned with white mage's robes clearly indicating that she was a magic caster. Coming to a halt at a respectful distance, she deeply bowed and said
" My lady, there is a messenger from a kingdom to the west requesting your audience."
This slightly intrigued her. She knew there had been no contact with the kingdoms on the west of the great mountain range for hundreds of years. But she had heard the rumors of a beastman kingdom on the western side. So she asked
"Aranea, is the messenger a beastman?"
"No my lady, the messenger is a wood elf." Aranea answered.
Oh! Interesting, a wood elf, I have never seen one. I must form friendly relations with their kingdom and request their help in this war. I should not make him wait any longer.
"Well then. I will meet with him in an hour in the throne room. Until then, make sure that he is well taken care of." She ordered.
Aranea bowed and left the room to carry out the orders.
