Day: Mountains

On a snow-covered mountain, the Crystal Gems prepare to zip line onto the train that will pass by below. Pearl is looking out for the train with her binoculars. Lapis is working on a signal for the radio, with Amethyst helping her out. Lars, Connie, and Steven, who don't have his helmet on, look at the zip line down the mountain as it snows.

Connie asks aloud, still looking down the mountain, the wind blowing her hair lightly, "Remember when I made you two ride the Cyclone at Coney Island?"

Steven answers without looking away from the view, "Yeah, did I throw up?"

Lars asks Steven, also not looking away, "This isn't payback, is it?"

Steven turns to them and asks as he smirks, "Now why would I do that?" The three chuckled a bit.

Lapis, working on the radio, says, "We were right." She grabs Steven, Connie, and Lars's attention, and they turn to her with solemn faces, "Dr. Ronaldo's on the train. The HYDRA dispatcher permitted him to open up the throttle." They walked closer to her, "Wherever he's going, they must need him badly." Steven looks at both Connie and Lars before turning around and putting on his helmet to get ready to zip line down.

Lapis looks through the binoculars and sees the train moving below, "Let's get going because they're moving like the devil."

Steven attaches the handle on the rope and prepares himself as he tells the others, "We only got about a 10-second window. You miss that window. We're bugs on the windshield."

Pearl advises them, "Mind the gap."

Garnet shouts as the train gets closer, "Better get moving, bugs!"

Amethyst signals for Steven to go, and Steven zip lines down. Connie prepares to go next. Amethyst signals for her to go, and she zips lines down behind Steven, with Lars and Lapis following. They zip-lined down till they were above the train, and, one by one, they let go of the handles and landed in a crouch on top of the moving train. They carefully, fast walk to the front part of the train. They reach a ladder to climb down to the entrance of the train. Steven climbs down first as Lars and Connie kneel and hold on to the bars before their turn. Lapis cocks her gun as she stays on the lookout.

Train: Inside

Steven quickly enters the train first, with Connie behind him and Lars behind her, and he shuts the door quietly. They quietly walk around the crates, through the train cart, Steven with his handgun in his right hand and his shield in his left arm, Lars and Connie with their machine guns up, prepared to fire at any moment. Steven cautiously walks into another cart when suddenly the two doors close. In the cart, Lars and Connie are in, and the doors in the cart Steven's in, completely separating Steven from Connie and Lars. They all get startled in alarm.

Steven's Train Cart

Steven hits the steel doors and sees through his window in there to see Connie hit the door in front of her, and Lars turns and starts shooting at a HYDRA soldier. Steven hears behind him a HYDRA tech gun charge and quickly turns around and sees another HYDRA soldier with two big guns on each arm. Steven quickly shoots at him and hides for cover behind a crate as the big HYDRA soldier shoots at him.

Dr. Ronaldo's Train Cart

Dr. Ronaldo grabs the primary microphone, moving it up as he watches Steven on a TV monitor, fighting his way through the train, "Stop him! Fire again!"

Lars and Connie's Train Cart

Connie sees two more HYDRA soldiers and fires at them, and HYDRA soldiers #3 and #4 go for cover, and she quickly ducks for cover behind the stacks of crates to reload as Lars fires at them beside her. And she gets back up to shoot again, and the HYDRA soldiers fire back, all of them shooting back and forth.

Steven's Train Cart

Steven shoots at the big HYDRA soldier, and he fires a shot. Steven quickly hides behind his shield, and while the big HYDRA soldier recharges his guns, Steven quickly gets out of hiding and jumps up and grabs a hook above and wheels down to where the big HYDRA soldier is standing and uses his shield to block another shot and kicks the big HYDRA soldier down and let's go of the hook and hits him with his shield as he was about to get up again.

Lars and Connie's Train Cart

HYDRA soldier #3 gets closer, and Connie shoots at him as Lars shoots at another with his handgun and moves to the other side, across from Connie, kneeling for cover behind the stacks of crates. Connie runs out of bullets, drops the machine gun, grabs her handgun, cocks it, and is ready to fire as the HYDRA soldiers shoot at them.

Steven's Train Cart

Steven uses the unconscious HYDRA soldier's big gun to shoot the door open and quickly rushes to it.

Dr. Ronaldo's Train Cart

With his hand still on the primary mic, Dr. Ronaldo watches from the TV monitor; Steven runs to the door.

Lars and Connie's Train Cart

Both Connie and Lars are still hiding behind the stacks of crates across each other with their guns up to their sides, ready to fire at any moment. Connie quickly shoots at them before going back into cover again.

Steven's Train Cart

Steven goes up to the steel door; that's separating him and his friends at the moment. He sees Lars quickly shoot at the HYDRA soldiers before running out of bullets and crouches down again, hiding to reload. Steven sees Connie hiding and covering her head as the HYDRA soldiers shoot at her.

Lars and Connie's Train Cart

Steven hides beside the door, takes out his gun, and makes sure it's loaded before lightly elbowing the button and opening the door. He nods at Lars when he looks at him and tosses his gun to him. Steven rushes in, and with his shield, he hits a crate on a shelf that is in the middle of the cart, and it slides across the shelf to hit the HYDRA soldier #3, but he dodges it, making him get out of hiding, and Lars quickly stands up and shoots HYDRA soldier #3. On Connie's side of the cart, she looks up and sees HYDRA soldier #4 coming out of hiding, about to shoot Steven and Lars, and she quickly stands up and shoots him before he can.

Connie hugs Lars as he looks at Steven over her shoulder and says to him, "We had him on the ropes." He pulls away from Connie.

Steven, breathing heavily, looks around, "I know you did." With his guns in hand, the big HYDRA soldier that Steven was fighting before steps into the doorway. Hearing the gun charge, Steven quickly turns around, holds his shield up, pushes Connie to Lars, and says, "Get down!" The big HYDRA soldier blasts at him, and Steven covers the blast with his shield. It bounces off and hits the side of the train cart, making a huge hole.

Dr. Ronaldo's Train Cart

Dr. Ronaldo is still watching from the TV monitor and orders in the primary mic he's still holding, "Fire again!"

Lars and Connie's Train Cart

Lars quickly grabs Steven's shield and stands up as Connie recovers from the blast behind him, and Steven from the other side of the train cart also recovers from the blast.

Dr. Ronaldo's voice comes from the PA, "Kill him! Now!"

With the shield on his left arm and his handgun in the other, Lars shoots and walks forward as Connie stands up behind him. The big HYDRA soldier shoots at Lars and hits the shield, making him fly back, drop the shield, and hit Connie, making them both fall out of the train. Steven quickly stands up, grabs his shield, and throws it at the HYDRA soldier hard, making him fly back to the other train cart.

Steven takes off his helmet and quickly goes to the hole at the side of the train, "Lars! Connie!" Lars was holding onto a bar on the side of the train that's broken off, and Connie was holding onto Lar's left leg for dear life, "Hang on!" Steven tries to get closer and holds out his left hand, "Grab my hand!" The bar Lar's holding onto starts to break with both his and Connie's weight, "NO!" The bar breaks completely as Lars goes to take Steven's hand and falls, he lets go of the bar, and Connie lets go of Lars's leg. Both Lars and Connie scream as they fall to their deaths.

Still holding onto the train, completely devastated and crying, Steven watches as the love of his life and his best friend falls out of view.

Outside

The train continues to move, Lapis still on the train, heading towards a tunnel.

Inside: Dr. Ronaldo's Train Cart

Lapis breaks the glass above the train cart, jumps down, then quickly stands up and aims her gun at Dr. Ronaldo, who was startled by her sudden appearance, along with a HYDRA helper beside him.

Military Base

(Inaudible) With a big belly now, Sadie is talking to Jenny near the map. When a soldier walks up to them and hands Sadie a letter, she looks at him confused and takes the letter from him, nodding a thank you, and he faintly nods back and walks away.

Sadie glances at Jenny, who's also confused. Sadie opens the letter, reads it, and halfway through reading it, she starts to break down, covering her mouth, and sobbing. Jenny looks confused, and Sadie hands the letter to her. Jenny takes it, reads it, and when she finishes it, she turns to a devastated Sadie, but then Jenny notices her hunched over and clutching her stomach in pain, breathing heavily. Sadie collapses, and Jenny catches her before she can hit the ground. Jenny yells out to the people around the room, then Stanford comes running to them and sees Sadie's head on Jenny's lap, screaming in pain. He goes to help her, shouts at the people around them, and gestures to step back as some of them start crowding them. Moments later, Medical officers rush in and start to take her away as she goes into labor.

Day: Military Base

Interrogation Room

Dr. Ronaldo, looking rough, has been escorted into the interrogation room by a soldier and hands him his glasses and puts it on as the soldier leaves the room and shuts the door, making a loud sound in the quiet room. Ronaldo walks around the room and sees a gurney, then sees blood on the floor, and his eyes widen slightly. Then turning around when the door opens and sees a soldier standing there, staring at him in case he did anything, and Colonel Dewey walks in with a tray and a sheet of paper.

Col. Dewey still holds the tray and instructs Ronaldo, "Sit down." He puts the tray down.

Dr. Ronaldo sits down and then asks as he looks at the tray, "What is this?"

Col. Dewey turns the tray to himself and answers, "Steak."

Dr. Ronaldo asks curiously, "What is in it?"

Col. Dewey answers, "Cow." He sits down in front of him, laces his fingers together, and calmly asks, "Doctor, do you realize how difficult it is to get hold of a prime cut like that out here?"

Dr. Ronaldo tells him, "I don't eat meat."

Col. Dewey asks, looking at him, "Why not?"

Dr. Ronaldo answers, "It disagrees with me."

Col. Dewey asks, "How about cyanide? Does that give you the rumbling tummy too?" Dr. Ronaldo smiles sarcastically, and Dewey starts to eat, "Every HYDRA agent that we've tried to take alive has crunched a little pill before we can stop her. But not you. So, here's my brilliant theory. You wanna live."

Dr. Ronaldo says, "You're trying to intimidate me, Colonel."

Col. Dewey shrugs and says innocently, "I bought you dinner." Then he slides the piece of paper he brought in.

Dr. Ronaldo reads the sheet out loud, "Given the variable information he has provided, and in exchange for his full cooperation, Dr. Ronaldo is being remanded to Switzerland."

After enjoying his meal, Col. Dewey tells him, "I sent that message to Washington this morning. Of course, it was encoded. You guys haven't broken those codes, have you? That would be awkward."

Dr. Ronaldo says, "Spinel will know this is a lie."

Col. Dewey tells him, "She's going to kill you anyway, Doc. You're a liability. You know more about Spinel than anyone. And the last two people you cost us were Captain Universe's closest friend and his lady. So, I wouldn't count on the very best of protection. It's you or Spinel. It's just the hand you've been dealt."

Dr. Ronaldo smiles a bit, "Spinel believes she walks in the footsteps of the Gods."

Col. Dewey sarcastically amused, "Mmm."

Dr. Ronaldo continues, "Only the world itself will satisfy her."

Col. Dewey asks him, "You realize that's nuts, don't you?"

Dr. Ronaldo says, "What? But the sanity of the plan is of no consequence."

Col. Dewey asks him, "And why is that?"

Dr. Ronaldo raises his voice a bit, "Because she can do it!"

Col. Dewey asks him, not fazed by the change of tone, "What's her target?"

Dr. Ronaldo leans forward, "Her target... is everywhere." Colonel Dewey stops chewing at that statement.

HYDRA Hanger

Many HYDRA soldiers stand tall and in a perfectly straight line beside a huge black plane as Spinel stands in front of them and addresses them, "Tomorrow, HYDRA will stand master of the world. They were born to victory on the wings of the Valkyrie. Our enemies' weapons will be powerless against us. If they shoot down one plane, hundreds more will rain fire upon them!" She grabs a glass of champagne from the tiny table beside her and raises her glass, "If they cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Hail HYDRA." She takes a sip as the soldiers start saluting by raising their arms and their hands into fists and shouting 'Hail HYDRA' repeatedly.

Night: Bar

Sadie and Jenny walked into the bar where Steven recruited the Crystal Gems (From Chapter 8). The place is now destroyed and in ruins. They both walk towards the back, Jenny supporting Sadie to walk as she's still weak from birth but wants to see Steven, one of her remaining family left.

Sadie sees Steven sitting at a table, drinking from a glass with the bottle beside it, and she walks over to him and places a hand on his shoulder, grabbing his attention. Steven turns his head to look at her, and he stands up. They hug each other tightly as anchors for their time of need. They pull away and finally notice each other's appearances, both crying, tear marks on their faces. Steven notices her small belly and looks at her worriedly, "Sadie? What-."

Sadie quickly reassured him, "I'm fine, and the baby is fine." She faintly smiles at him, "It's a boy. His name is Lars... I named him after his father." Steven smiles and nods, embracing her again for a moment before pulling away.

Steven looks at her sadly and apologetically, "I'm so sorry, Sadie." He apologizes for Lars and Connie for not being there for the birth. Jenny stands behind them, letting them have their moment without any disturbance as they grieve for their loved ones.

Sadie nods, "I'm sorry too." She understands what he's been through in watching the two people he's known all his life die.

Steven turns and sits back down, pouring himself a drink, sniffles, changing the subject, "Dr. Priyanka said that the serum wouldn't just affect my muscles, it would affect my cells. Create a protective system of regeneration and healing. Which means, um... I can't get drunk. Did you two know that?"

Jenny tells him as both she and Sadie grab two chairs that are not destroyed, "Your metabolism burns four times faster than the average person. She thought it could be one of the side effects." Sadie sits beside Steven on his right, and Jenny sits across from him, beside Sadie on her right.

Sadie says to him, "It wasn't your fault." She refers to Lars and Connie's death.

Steven asks, looking down, distraught, "Did you two read the reports?"

Jenny answers for them both, "Yes."

Steven scoffs, still looking down at the floor, "Then you know that's not true."

Sadie tells him, "You did everything you could." He doesn't respond to that.

Jenny asks him, "Did you believe in your friend? In both of them? Did you respect them both?" Steven looks at her as if to say yes.

Sadie can see where she's going with this and continues for her as she says softly but sternly to Steven, "Then stop blaming yourself. Allow Lars and Connie the dignity of their choice. They damn well must have thought you were worth it. I know I do."

Steven looks at her for a moment, then back down at the floor and states to them, "I'm going after Spinel. I'm not going to stop till all the HYDRA is dead or captured."

Sadie grabs his right hand with her left hand softly, "You won't be alone."
