Same Night: Military Base
Colonel Dewey stands in front of the map and the table where Jenny, Sadie, and Steven are sitting, and the Crystal Gems prepare a battle plan to take down Spinel at her headquarters.
Col. Dewey looked at the map but addressed the people in the room, "Spinel belongs in a bughouse. She thinks she's a God. She's willing to blow half the world to prove it, starting with the U.S.A." He turns to face them and points at the map.
Stanford walks over to the table and sits beside Steven on his right, "Spinel's working with powers beyond our capabilities. She gets across the Atlantic. She will wipe out the entire eastern seaboard in an hour." He leans on the table.
Lapis, sitting down, turns her head to Colonel Dewey, "How much time we got?"
Col. Dewey answers, looking at a few papers in his hand, "According to my new best friend, 24 hours." They all look at him.
Sadie asks, "Where is she now?"
Colonel Dewey answers, "HYDRA'S last base is here." He holds up a photo and points to the base. "In the Alps." He drops the photo in front of Amethyst, "Five hundred feet below the surface."
Amethyst asks as she glances at the photograph in front of her, "So, what are we supposed to do? I mean, it's not like we can knock on the front door."
Steven speaks up for the first time, "Why not?" They all look at him, and he looks up at them with determination all over his face, "That's exactly what we're gonna do."
Medical Office Area
Before they left, Sadie took Steven to her room in the medical area where her newborn was. Sadie guides Steven to where baby Lars is sleeping in a little crib beside her bed, wrapped in a blue blanket. Steven looks at him in amazement, genuinely smiling a small smile for the first time since Lars and Connie died. Sadie smiles a small smile at his reaction to baby Lars.
Steven looks at her as she looks at her son, "Congratulations, Sadie! He's beautiful. Lars and Connie would be proud of you." He looks at the baby again, taking in how he looks like both of his parents.
Sadie nods and smiles a bit, "Thank you." Then she frowns sadly after a moment, "Yes, they would've." Steven looks at her, "With everything that has happened this past year, the four of us should be proud of ourselves and each other for what we have accomplished." Steven looks down sadly. She changes the subject, looks between her son and Steven, and asks, "Would you like to hold him?" Steven goes to protest, but Sadie beats him to it, "We don't know what will happen. When we go after Spinel, now could be our only time and chance to hold him one last time."
Steven nods and says, "Alright." Sadie carefully picks baby Lars up not to awaken him and hands him over to Steven, who takes him and holds him so carefully, afraid of one wrong move he would break. Sadie smiles at the sight of them together. Baby Lars stirs a bit and coos, and Steven smiles at the sight of him and holds him a moment longer before handing him back to Sadie, who stares at her son in her arms in amazement.
Sadie smiles a bit, looks at Steven, and tells him, "We should make a day together." Steven looks confused, but she smiles a bit bigger and tells him, "The three of us." She looks down at her baby, "In honor of Connie and Lars. Just tell stories, have fun, forget about everything else for a moment, and be there for him." She looks at Steven, who is sympathetic and sad, and she jokes a bit, "A play date." They both chuckled at that.
Steven nods and says to her, "We will, one day." He looks at her, sad, "But we have to go, Sadie." Sadie nods sadly but in agreement and places a loving kiss on her son's head before placing him back down on the crib beside her bed and stands back up and continues to stare and memorize every little feature. Steven wraps his arm around her and pulls her into a side hug, and she does the same and puts her head on his arm, both smiling at him. Before they leave to go after Spinel, they stare at the little sleeping precious miracle in front of them.
The Alps: Woods
Dirt Road
In his Captain Universe suit and helmet, Steven sitting on a motorcycle, starts it and drives off fast on the dirt road with determination. Suddenly, six HYDRA soldiers on their motorcycles drive up behind Steven, and #1 and #2 HYDRA soldiers shoot at him with their high-tech guns attached to their motorcycles, and one of the blasts hits Steven's shield as it is on his back. Steven presses a button from his bike, and two attached ropes spring out and attach to two trees across each other. Four HYDRA soldiers duck to avoid being hit, and the two last soldiers, not seeing it fast enough, hit the ropes and fly back off their motorcycles. From Steven's bike, he does another trick and initiates fire from the back of his motorcycle. One of the HYDRA soldiers up front gets caught on fire and crashes, the other beside him, crashes into the other soldier's bike that had fallen, and the impact makes him flip forward, and he yells before landing hard on the ground. The last two manage to get in front of Steven, and Steven drives faster, pulls a pin from the bike to his right, and drives fast forward, passing them, and the bike explodes, taking the other one with him.
Near the main HYDRA headquarters, Steven puts his shield in front of him on the bike. A HYDRA tank shoots at him repeatedly, making him swerve slightly to avoid being hit as the HYDRA tank moves forward. Steven presses another button, shoots two rockets from the front of his bike, and hits the tank, making it explode. Steven rides up from the wall beside the burning tank, jumps high, lands hard, and continues going as the HYDRA soldiers start shooting at him. He presses another button again before quickly standing on his bike, grabbing his shield, and jumping off it. The motorcycle continues to drive forward. Steven jumped and hit HYDRA soldier #7 with his shield off a tank where he was shooting and missing his shots at Steven. Steven quickly stands up and throws his shield at HYDRA soldier #8, who was about to shoot him, and the shield bounces off of him hard. Steven caught the shield back and ran as his motorcycle drove to the entrance to the base and exploded, making a huge hole, and a few soldiers inside went flying back from the impact. Steven blocks two blasts from HYDRA soldier #9 and hits his gun back, punches him, and knees him in the gut, making the soldier fly back and turns to #10 and #11 HYDRA soldiers and hits #10 with his shield, making him fall, then turns to #11 and blocks a punch with his shield, then punches him in the gut and uppercuts him with his shield, making the soldier fly back. Steven turns to the #12 HYDRA soldier and hits him with his shield as he is about to shoot Steven, making him kneel, and Steven kicks him, making him fly back. Steven sees #13 and #14 HYDRA soldiers with their guns raised and runs, throwing his shield to a tank beside a tank where he was running past. It bounces off and hits the #13 HYDRA soldier in the back, making him fall, and Steven runs up to #14, kicks his gun away, and throws him over the tank beside them. Steven looks up and catches his shield, and #15 and #16 HYDRA soldiers with thick tech armor come up to either side of Steven and trap him by shooting fire from the flamethrowers on their forearms. Steven looks between them, guarded, and when the fire goes down, he sees a bunch of HYDRA soldiers surrounding him with guns raised, and he lowers his shield and stands up straight and realizes he's captured.
Inside: Spinel's Weapons Lab
Steven has his hands behind his back and is escorted by two HYDRA soldiers to Spinel.
Spinel walked toward Steven, "Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait, but I must say you do it better than anyone." She stands in front of Steven, who's glaring at her, "But there are limits to what even you can do, Captain. Or did Priyanka tell you otherwise?"
Steven told her, "She told me you were insane."
Spinel, surprisingly still calm, says, "Ah. She resented my genius and tried to deny me what was rightfully mine. But she gave you everything. So, what made you so special?"
Steven glares at her, then scoffs a chuckle and faintly smirks, then answers her, "Nothing." His smirks drop, "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn." Spinel then punches him, backhands him, and punches him in the gut, making Steven drop to his knees, lowering his head, coughing. Steven looks up at Spinel, who's looking down at him. Steven had a little blood at the corner of his mouth, was breathing heavily, and said to her, "I can do this all day."
Spinel says, mocking him, "Oh, of course, you can. Of course." She takes out her cube-energy pistol, "But unfortunately, I am on a tight schedule." She points the gun at Steven.
Outside
Grabbing hooks with ropes suddenly gets fired to the walls beside the large window, where Spinel and Steven are inside.
Inside
Spinel, hearing it, turns to the large window, looking at something outside.
Outside
The Crystal Gems are zip lining down the rope to the large windows.
Inside
Steven turns to Spinel and tells her smugly, "So am I!" Then he grabs the soldier to his right and puts the soldier in front of him, and Steven's team crashes through the windows of the weapons lab. Spinel angrily turns to Steven and shoots at him but blasts the soldier instead because Steven moved him for protection.
The Crystal Gems start attacking the HYDRA soldiers in the room. Steven flips the soldier on his left, hard on the ground, and Spinel runs away down a hallway. Pearl stops attacking, grabs Steven's shield from a dead HYDRA soldier, and tells him, "Steven! You might need this." Then she throws the shield at him.
Steven catches it and tells her, "Thanks!" Steven runs out to the hallway and goes in the direction Spinel went as the Crystal Gems continue to fight the HYDRA soldiers.
Hallway
More HYDRA soldiers run down a hallway with their tech guns in hand.
Another Hallway
A door explodes open and gets destroyed. More Crystal Gems run in. Amethyst radioed Colonel Dewey, who's outside with his soldiers, Jenny and Sadie, "We're in! Assault Team, go!"
Outside
Colonel Dewey, with a gun in his right hand and the radiophone in his left hand against his ear, is listening to Amethyst. He orders his soldiers, "Move out!" He hands the radio phone back to the guy carrying it and starts to walk forward. The two ladies beside him look up with determination. The soldiers all ran out of the woods to attack.
Hallway
The Crystal Gems continue to fight the HYDRA soldiers, making them move back as they continue forward.
Outside
As Dewey's soldiers run out of the edge of the woods, they are already getting shot at by the HYDRA soldiers.
Hallway
The Crystal Gems continue to fight. Garnet now has one of the tech guns, firing and blasting back at them.
Outside
Jenny and Sadie run with machine guns in hand with the other military soldiers, some getting shot. As they run forward and shoot, the HYDRA soldiers move back, also firing. Havoc everywhere, lots of shooting and bombs going off.
Another Hallway
Spinel continues to run but stops when the end of the hall gets breached and picks up an abandoned tech gun, blasts and kills all the soldiers running in, then turns around and continues to run with the tech gun in hand.
Elsewhere Hallway
Colonel Dewey and his soldiers are finally inside the tunnel hallways, and one of the HYDRA soldiers yells out as he shoots, "Cut off one head, and two more shall-."
Colonel Dewey shoots him with his shotgun and says, "Let's go find two more!" He and his soldiers continued to attack.
Another Hallway
Steven catches up to Spinel and blocks the blasts Spinel shoots with her cube-energy pistol in one hand. The other hand has the big gun while they run down the tunnel. Steven stops and throws his shield, making it bounce off a wall to the doors Spinel ran through, wedged between them, keeping it open. Steven is about to run again when he sees the #17 HYDRA soldier with the same big tech armor with the flamethrowers on its forearm, and it shoots fire at him, Steven hides by the door frame for cover, and the soldiers start to walk toward Steven.
Suddenly, from another attached hallway, Jenny and Sadie shoot with their machine guns at the device on his back, making it explode, killing him. Steven looks at the fallen #17 HYDRA soldier in shock, and Jenny and Sadie run to the hallway with Colonel Dewey's soldiers following. Steven runs up to Sadie and Jenny and says to Sadie, "You're late." Saying to her what she said to him before (From Chapter 7), she lightly chuckles at that and gives him a one-arm hug because she's holding the gun with her right hand, with Steven returning it.
As soon as he and Sadie hug, Jenny awkwardly tells Steven, "Weren't you about to..."
Steven and Sadie pull away, and he tells them, "Right." And he takes off running to the door, takes out his shield from it, and goes through, leaving Jenny and Sadie behind as it closes.
Plane Hanger
Spinel runs towards a ladder, going up to the plane with her soldiers behind her, but they get shot down by Dewey's soldiers that followed them in.
Inside: Plane
Spinel rushing in, puts the gun down, inserts the device that carries the Tesseract into another large tech machine attached to the plane, locks it and goes straight to the main chair, sits and turns to the controls, switching and pressing buttons. The plane starts up, with little screens showing the plane's layout and different locations around the world.
Plane Hanger
The thrusters turn on, the plane turns on, and it starts moving. Steven runs in and stops to look around, sees the HYDRA soldier shooting and fighting the military soldiers, and looks ahead of them to see the plane. He quickly runs into the fight, blocking the blasts, hitting and pushing with his shield, comes up to a crate, jumps up, grabs a chain with his right hand, and wheels above the fight. Some blasts shoot toward Steven, but it misses him. He lets go of the chain and sprints toward the plane, but the plane gains speed, and Steven runs faster, but the plane moves faster, and Steven slows to a stop, breathing heavily and looking at the plane.
Suddenly, Spinel's car stops beside Steven on his left, revealing Colonel Dewey in the driver's seat, with Jenny behind him in the backseat and Sadie beside her behind the passenger seat, and Colonel Dewey orders him, "Get in." Steven quickly steps into the car, sitting, and Colonel Dewey speeds off.
Inside: Plane
Spinel is on the plane, still seated, and sees her car following behind her on one of the screens.
Car
They were driving closely behind the plane at high speeds, the wind pushing Jenny's and Sadie's hair back.
Inside: Plane
Spinel clenches her jaw angrily and speeds the plane faster, close to the exit.
Car
The exits are a bit closer now. Colonel Dewey presses a button, making the car go even faster to catch up to the plane, making all their heads tilt back by the sudden action. Now closer, Steven stands and leans in the car for support, ready to jump. He glances between the plane and Colonel Dewey a few times and shouts over the noise to him, "Keep it steady!" As Steven was about to leap from the car onto Spinel's plane, Sadie stopped him.
Sadie shouts, "Wait!" She leans up, kisses him on the cheek, careful not to leave a red lip mark on him, and looks at him proudly, "Go get her."
Steven smiles a bit, then looks at Colonel Dewey. He notices him looking, turns back to the road, and tells him, "I'm not kissing you!"
Steven turns, puts his shield on his back, climbs out of the car seat onto the side of the car, and carefully makes his way to the front. Driving between the blades on the plane is a little too close to his head, and he ducks flat on the car, hits the car a bit but continues toward Steven right in front of the car, ready to jump as they get closer to the exit.
Inside: Plane
Spinel on the control wheel pulls it up and starts making the plane fly.
Car
Steven jumps right when the plane takes off in the air, grabbing onto the wheel. Colonel Dewey hits the brakes and turns the car to the side near the edge of the cliff that's right outside the exit hanger, but with the ice and snow, the car slides and stops right at the edge of the cliff. The car's back end and the wheels went off the cliff, but the whole front of the car was still safe on the ground. Steven, holding on, looks back to see the car has not fallen off the cliff before climbing up, making his way inside the plane. Sadie stands from her seat to look out at the plane, worried about Steven.
