Chapter 12 Rabbitnapped

Judy squinted at the screen. Her hand stayed on the mouse, clicking ever so slightly and delicately. She had to find the prisoner. The only problem was that task seemed nearly impossible.

She wasn't anywhere. Judy had checked the traffic cameras in Rainforest District, Tundra Town, Sahara Square...she had checked all over Zootopia. Not only had her search proved to be fruitless, but it also proved to be irritating. Her mood became more and more agitated, her eyes hurt more and more the longer she stared at the computer. If this were to go on like this, she would surely have some sort of problem.

Seriously. She was a walking, talking turtle donned in pink. She shouldn't be that hard to find!

Judy sighed and leaned back, if for no other reason than to gather her bearings. She rubbed her eyes, feeling the agitation increase. Not only that, but she was tired. Extremely tired. It was the middle of the night after all.

"I have to go home," she muttered to herself. After she did, she blinked before laughing. Home. Her run down, narrow apartment in the slums of Zootopia. She never imagined that she would be desiring to be in a spot like that, a spot so...horrible.

But then again, what choice did she have? She wouldn't be able to get much progress on the search for the prisoner done if her head kept clunking on the desk. She would be a hindrance beyond anything else; a hindrance on her own objective and her own mission.

So, ultimately, Judy turned off the computer screen. She gathered her things, yawning up a storm as her ears and eyelids drooped. She made her way out into the front of the ZPD, where Clawhauser was working at the desk.

"Night Clawhauser," Judy said.

Clawhauser looked up from his soda and waved at her. "Night, Hopps! See you in the morning!"

Judy smirked. Depending on how tired she was, she might just have to take the next day off so she could sleep in. She was about to open the door when Clawhauser spoke up.

"Oh, Nick gave me a message to give you."

Judy turned and perked up her ears. "What would that be?"

Clawhauser smiled. "He said you're the best rabbit he ever had the honor of calling 'Carrots.'"

Judy blinked before snickering. "Yeah, that sounds like him."

"It is! He knows that you will find that prisoner. You found Emmett Otterton after all."

Judy's face grew warm. "That was a team effort. But I will believe what he says." She yawned again. "I just don't think I'll be able to find Wendy right now."

"Understandable." Clawhauser grinned. "Have a good sleep for me, Judy."

"Can do." Judy opened the door and stepped out into the brisk night. A cool breeze whipped her in the face, almost strong enough to remove her drowsiness. Almost.

"Okay," she muttered to herself. She made her way to the car, thinking about her to-do list for tomorrow. She had to find the escaped jail convict, get her apartment ready for her parents, give some reports to Clawhauser and Bogo, and possibly even take Nick out to dinner. That last one wasn't entirely necessary, although she and Nick had arranged it months beforehand. Depending on how crazy tomorrow would go (and she had a hunch it would go really crazy) she might have to cancel. Suboptimal, but she was sure Nick would understand.

After wandering around for a bit, Judy finally found her car, tucked into a distant corner of the parking lot. She got her keys ready, all while bemoaning the fact that there had been no close parking spots today. Just as she was about to open the door, she heard a whooshing sound. It caught her attention in the worst of ways; it was almost as if someone had decided to run around behind her at the speed of sound.

"Who's there?" No one answered, but that didn't satisfy Zootopia's top rabbit officer. She put her hand to the gun attached to her belt and made her way to the back of the car. "Who are you?"

Another whoosh occurred, causing Judy to gulp. She turned around, her heartbeat escalating.

"Show yourself!" Maybe it was Nick playing a trick on her? Oh, how she hoped that was the case.

"Hello."

Judy nearly jumped out of her skin. She jumped up and saw…

"Wendy!" It was the escaped convict! H...how? "What are you…"

Before Judy could say anymore, Wendy placed a cloth on her face, one covered in chloroform. Judy's eyes drooped as she passed out. The last conscious thought that she had was of Wendy grabbing hold of her before she landed on the unforgiving pavement.

Distant, distorted voices talked all around Judy. She struggled to move, but the struggle was beyond pointless. She tried waking up, but to no avail.

Seriously, what happened?

"Ohhh…" Judy groaned. Her head wobbled from side to side, as if it was nothing more than a dead weight. As she regained consciousness, it became clear to her that she was lying down. She also had a comforter wrapped around her. Perhaps the strange occurrence with Wendy had been a dream?

Hopefully that was the case. Hopefully, Judy was sleeping in her apartment in Zootopia. Hopefully, she would be able to return to the ZPD within no time at all.

She opened her eyes. When she did, she held back a scream. She wasn't in her room. She wasn't in her bed. She was in a room she had never seen before, in a bed that was most definitely not hers. The comforter was pink, unlike her gray one. The mattress was soft and cushy, unlike her stiff and dirty one.

Judy sprung out of the bed and ran toward a window on one side of the room. She gasped when she saw...nothing. No Zootopia, no animals, nothing. The only things that met her eyes were the sight of barren gray ground and clear blue sky.

Her mind raced. What was going on? Where was she? She pinched herself, just to make sure that she wasn't dreaming. The pinch hurt, much to her dismay.

"Nick!" She called out. "Bogo? Clawhauser?"

Creak.

Judy turned when she heard the sound of the door opening. Her heart stopped when she saw Wendy, smiling up a storm of the giddy variety.

"Ah. You're awake. How did you sleep; I never used chloroform before, so I was worried you wouldn't experience a good night."

"Y...YOU!" Judy shrieked. She looked around, her heart pumping, her mind racing, and cold sensations running up and down her spine. "What's going on? Where am I?"

Wendy just continued smiling. "You're in the Koopa Kingdom." She ran over and hugged Judy, squeezing the very life force out of her body. "Welcome to the Mushroom World, you little cutie!"
