At the mall, we went to JC Penny for the bed covers and wallpapers. We both decided we can adopt Carlos. I helped what he likes. Sports theme. I got the a basketball cover for both twin beds while I got the other cover for the other bed. I found a basketball wallpaper and curtains.
"Perfect match," I said to myself.
Then, I got other bed covers for the other beds. It was about $150.00 and Dad had his credit card. We went to Sleepy's.
At Sleepy's Mattress Store, we found a lot of nice, perfect mattresses, so we were all set. I showed them a picture of my bed, Dawn's, and Jeff's in the meantime. They had those beds like that, which is nice.
"We'll deliver them at your house the day after tomorrow afternoon at around one. May we have your number in case of any cancellations?" asked the clerk.
"Sure," said Dad as he gave it to them. "Thank you."
"That was a quick service," I said as we left the store.
"I know," agreed Dad.
After it was paid, we went to the food court for dinner.
"That was a good idea," said Dad.
"I knew what he likes," I said.
After that, Dad checked his watch.
"It's still early enough for Wal-Mart," said Dad.
That was when we headed off to Wal-Mart and found a drawer with a mixed sports on it. Same with the nightstand. Carlos plays baseball as well. He had someone put them in his van.
After we left there, I thought about something.
"Should we get a lamp while we're out?" I asked.
"We could do that," said Dad.
"I just thought about it," I said.
"That's okay," said Dad.
We went to get one at Sears and found one with a basketball shade included. Then we went back home.
"We can leave the nightstand and drawer in the van for tonight," said Dad.
"Okay," I said. "Want me to see if Logan can help you carry the nightstand and drawers tomorrow at school?"
He has muscles.
"Sure, that would be great," said Dad.
At home, I put the covers in our rooms to get them get ready to put on the beds. I get to put the curtains on the attic window with a help from Dad. We put the wallpaper aside for now.
"We can do the wallpaper tomorrow. That will allow us time to decorate before the beds arrive," said Dad.
"That makes sense," I said.
"We have wallpaper glue, so we're all set," continued Dad.
"Alright," I said.
The next day, at lunch, I asked Stacey to take over to watch the Perkin girls for me.
"I still have to help my dad with the attic," I added.
"No problem," said Stacey.
"What's the attic supposed to be?" asked Claudia.
"A bedroom," I replied.
"Good," said Kristy.
"It's almost done. The attic room is going to be a Sports theme," I said.
"That's a nice idea," commented Stacey.
"It was my idea and Dad liked it, too," I said. "We got it from JcPenny. We got everything for Sports. We even went to Wal-Mart after dinner and ordered Superman drawers & nightstand. We got twin beds at Sears."
"Nice. Maybe most of us can help you with the wallpaper. Stacey can join after she takes your place," said Claudia.
"That's a good idea," I said. "I won't be home until later. We're going to a mattress store to order twin beds. Dawn, Jeff, and I are getting an extra bed."
"Okay. How about we'll meet you at your house at three to give us time to do it before the club meeting?" asked Kristy.
"Sounds good," I replied. "We can tell it to Mallory and Jessi after school."
"Who you plan to adopt?" asked Claudia.
"Do you remember meeting Carlos?" I asked.
"Yes," replied Kristy.
"He's the one who plays spots against us," said Claudia.
"Yes," I replied. "Oh, speaking of the help, I have to ask Logan about something."
I got up to Logan and said, "We got the nightstand and drawers for the attic bedroom. Dad left them in his van. Do you mind help him carrying them in?"
"I don't mind," said Logan. "I don't have practice or game today. I can go with you after school."
"Great," I said.
After school, we told Mallory and Jessi know & they both liked the idea. When we spotted Dad, they asked him if they can help us with the wallpaper.
"Thank you, that would be great," smiled Dad.
"I asked Stacey to take my place to watch the Perkin girls so I can finish helping you," I said.
"That's fine with me," said Dad.
"It's until five, but we got the club meeting," said Stacey.
"No problem," said Dad.
"See you at around three-thirty," said Kristy. "I'll be with Claudia so I can walk over at your house."
"We should let our mothers know while we're at it," said Claudia.
"That's true we should," agreed Stacey.
"We all can walk back to Claudia's together," I said. "Oh, Logan's coming with us. He will help you bringing the nightstand and the drawers in."
"Oh, good," said Dad.
Logan came out a few minutes later and at home, did help carrying the stuff in. Dad told him where to put them while I helped holding the attic door.
"Would you like to help with the wallpaper? The girls and I are going to be doing it," I said.
"I would like to, but I have an appointment soon. Mom said she'll meet me here," said Logan.
"That's fine, thanks for helping," said Dad.
When his mom came for him, I had enough time to do homework. I figured I'd do that while I wait for the others to come.
The doorbell rang 30 minutes early and I went to answer to let my friends in.
"We can stay here for supper after the meeting," said Kristy.
"The mattresses will be here the day after tomorrow afternoon at one," I told them.
"If you need more than helper anytime, we're willing to help you both out," said Claudia.
"That's a nice idea, thank you, Claudia," said Dad. "I'm going to treat you girls for pizza tonight."
In the attic, we started the wallpaper. Each wall was about twelve inches-some were fourteen inches around the window. Claudia's job was cutting the wallpaper, which she was very creative at. We were halfway done when I looked at my watch.
"It's five, we should get ready to leave for the meeting," I said.
"Already?" asked Dawn.
"You girls can finish when you come back," said Dad.
"Okay," I said. "We're almost done."
At the meeting, it was a bit slow, but we had a few phone calls.
"At least this will be done before Jenny comes over on Thursday," said Stacey while she was writing in the notebook.
"I know," I said.
"When are you adopting Carlos?" asked Kristy.
"This weekend," I replied.
After the club ended a few minutes early, we went back to my house.
"I'm going to order pizza while you girls work on the wallpaper," said Dad.
"Sounds good," I said.
"If you want, you can have a picnic up here," said Dad.
"Really?" asked Dawn.
"Yes, I have no problem with that," said Dad. "It's for your hard work."
"Sounds good," I said.
Luckily, the wallpaper stayed in nice thanks to Claudia the expert. We were done when the pizza arrived before six-thirty pm. Dad joined us. Both Stacey, who has diabetes, and Dawn had salad.
"It's like having a pizza party," I said.
"I know," agreed Mallory.
We laughed at that. After dinner, we helped clean up.
"Nice teamwork," said Dad.
"I agree," I said.
"You girls can have free time before they leave," said Dad.
"Okay," I said.
We watched a movie until they left by eight-thirty pm.
"Thanks for the help," said Dad.
"And, thanks for dinner," said Kristy.
The next day, after school, the beds were already at home in our rooms when I got home.
"Our new bed looks very nice for the twin beds," I said.
"It sure is, sweetie," agreed Dad.
We put the nightstand in between the twin beds. The basketball covers were already on the beds.
