Chapter 0: Prologue
Mew let out a bored sigh as she floated around her tree in the mountains of Kanto, a rather common sight for the Regis that also lived in the enormous tree. The cat would fly around the Tree of Beginnings a few times before eventually taking a dip into the lake, much as she had done the day before.
And the day before that.
And the day before that.
"I'm so bored," Mew whined to herself as she landed on one of the branches to gaze out onto the countryside. After living on Earth for so long, she had practically seen everything that it had to offer and now had nothing new to do. Caves explored, forests wandered through, mountains climbed. Heck, she even joined a Pokemon Guild every few centuries to see what they might have found and just found old places she had already been to rediscovered for the dozenth time.
She had even attempted several times to go into human society, in disguise after the cloning incident, and they basically repeated the same almost every generation. Go be a trainer, fight these bad guys, win the League.
Mew wanted something new! Something that she had never seen before, something that none of her creations have ever done before.
Hanging from the branche by her tail, Mew tried to puzzle out this conundrum she was in. She always felt like she thought the best when upside down, or maybe that was just the blood rushing to her head.
Then an idea struck her. She had created some Pokemon that could make portals to other copies of her world, created by her little Dialga and Palkia fighting, but what if she went further with it? Not simply create a portal to an accidental split of time and space, but something beyond even that?
Letting go of the branche, Mew flew upwards and away from her tree so she could have space to try out her idea. Once she felt she was far enough away to not risk damaging the tree, she began to focus her powers. First she started with a Hoopa Ring before dismissing it after it broke a few attempts later.
Mew felt like she was on the right track and decided to change the Hoopa Ring a bit. Instead of being made of gold, she tried to make one of Bronzong Steel so the Ring had a blue coloring to it now. The new attempt looked promising as a spiraling portal began to form within the Ring, but it collapsed into a small black hole she had to teleport away from.
'Okay, this is progress,' Mew was still happy despite her failures so far, as something new was happening and could be a promise of something even more. 'Just needs a guiding paw.'
On her final attempt, Mew turned into Palkia as she poured her power into another blue Hoopa Ring. As a primordial force of space, Mew could feel all the twists and tugging at reality the portal was causing and was able to straighten it out into something more stable. Satisfied with her combined work, Mew examined the portal one last time.
The insides of the ring looked like a tie-dye whirlpool of colors that seemed to stretch out into a long tunnel that ended far out of sight.
"Let's see if this works," Mew said to herself, hopeful as she flew into the modified Hoopa ring.
