Leah
As soon as they entered the restaurant, every pair of eye were set on them.
While the women stared at Carlisle with an open mouth and a glint in their eyes, that mad Leahs blood boil, the men were looking at them with interest.
Leah felt suddenly uneasy and peered at Carlisle. He seemingly didn't even notice the female attention and aimed unaware to a table in the corner.
Behind the bar it got a bit messy, the waitresses were fighting who would get to attend their table. A woman, Leah thought she looked about 35, with way too much make up in her face, won and strutted to their table.
With a comical big grin, which was supposed to be sexy, she looked at Carlisle and gave him the menu. Carlisle took it with a small thank you and smiled politely. Altough there was no real interest in his smile, Leah had to admit that it was disarming.
"What can I get you to drink?"
She did not spare a single look to Leah.
Carlisle still seemed unfazed by the female attention and ordered two ice teas.
It was quite clear, that the woman had hoped for more, but she still held her head high as she was leaving to get the drinks.
Carlisle gave Leah a questioning look, apperently she didn't hide her distate well. She did not say anything, her hunger grew rapidly and not even the annoying females could destroy her appetite.
It didn't take long and there were two ice teas in front of her. Well in front of Carlisle to be specific. His glass was filled with fruit, ice and tea while hers was .. well ice tea. Instantly he switched the glasses and as she took a big swing from it, she looked triumphantly at the displeased waitress.
Of course she was asking just Carlisle what he wanted to eat, who looked expectant at Leah. Who was more than happy to order to Cheeseburger with bacon and fried egg.
She could see that the waitress was giving up altough her neckline got lower every time she got to their table.
Carlisle was looking at her again and she could see the amusment in his amber eyes. His red lips formed a handsome smile and now it was Leahs turn to almost swoon.
His pearwhite teeth were flawless and the positively looked like he was just conjured from a magazine cover.
She could feel her heartrate pick up and suddenly she understood the waitress. It was impossible to not be impressed by him.
The food came and Leah could smell the meat and grease. As soon as the full plates were standing infront of her, she dived right in and inhaled the food. She didn't even notice Carlisle look on her, as he watched her with an amused look in his eyes.
He looked at her with adorement, a look she rarely- if ever- got.
Carlisle was not used to a company that really ate. Of course his family did not eat- at least not in a restaurant and he always declined the invitation of his collegues, and nurses for that matter.
To not raise awareness he picked around his food with faked interest but it didn't take long befor he swichted the already empty plate from Leah with his own.
He had to admit, that he was suprised when she ate the second meal with the same vigour. He was sure that he had never seen a female eat that much and with that eagerness.
Leah finally noticed his look and felt a blush creeping up her cheeks. With a grin, he gave er a napkin. Well in hindsight she could have showed a bit of manners instead of shoveling everthing in her mouth like an animal. But he didn't seem to care, on the contrary, he still looked at her with awe and adoration. As if she was the most interesting creature he had ever seen.
This time when the waitress asked with a sweet voice, if he wanted anything else, he did not look up. His eyes were still glued on Leah. He shook his head and before she could say anything else, he reached across the table and took Leahs hand. Devastated the woman left the table but Leah rejoiced. She felt the warmth and the happiness spreading through her veins. It washed away every negative thought and she felt strong, stronger than ever before. But she felt also tired. Her last goodnight sleep was a while ago, and the whole incident was not helping. Her restless soul felt weary and for the first time at ease. Her wolf was quiet, he finally got what he wanted.
She could not top the big yawn that escaped her lips and Carlisle looked suddenly concerned.
"There is a Motel, you could get some sleep?"
From any other men this sentence would be wildly suggestive but he radiates no creeper vibes at all. His honey eyes shoned trustworthy and kind and his voice were soft. There was nothing she could do but to nod.
As they were leaving, she could not help but notice the hand on the small of her back. It was a small gesture but meant so much more. To her and apperently to the whole female staff. There was a big sigh as the door closed behind them.
The motel was certainly not in the Top Ten Most Beautiful Places in America, but in her condition she would probably sleep in a hut. The man behind the front desk looked at them puzzled and handed them a key without any comment. Leah wondered again if Carlisle didn't notice the looks or he was just used to them. It was truly a curse to be so beautiful.
He unlocked the room for her and let her go in first, "The last gentleman" thought Leah and let herself fall heavily on the bed.
Her eyelids were getting heavier and before she gave in to the urge, she noticed Carlisle, who was standing uncertainly in the middle of the room. He looked around, obviously wondering what to do next. It was endearing.
Leah almost laughed. After everything that had happened, he was now shy and didn't know what to do with himself. The affection for him seized Leah and she noticed again how her heart pounded faster. He evidently had this effect on her even with the smallest of gestures.
Finally she decided to end his misery and moved to the other side of the bed and patted invitingly on the vacated area. She was surprised to see that his eyes went black for a fleeting moment and he swallowed. He seemed to be arguing with himself and then slowly walked over to her side.
First he sat down next to her and looked at her intently, as if he expected her to stop him.
If he only knew
Leah watched the spectacle amused.
Granted, her experience with men was a bit limited except for Sam and a second boy in middle school, but she's really never met someone like Carlisle. Fatigue won the battle now and Leah only marginally noticed how Carlisle had now laid down on the blanket next to her.
