I didn't think I would write anything for s1, but a gifset by chibinoyume on Tumblr gave me an inspiration to write a short Jeller ficlet. And it's not even whumpy, more on the fluffy side. So, I guess you could tag it to the rewatch, kinda. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks to my beta for the proofread :).

Stubborn

"I'm fine." Jane spoke, trying to allay his anxiety as Kurt pressed a kiss on her head and pulled her a fraction deeper into his embrace in the dim light of the bedroom.

"You have a concussion, Jane." He buried his nose in her hair, inhaling the familiar scent, hoping it would drive away the worry that lingered in the pit of his stomach. He hated it when something happened to her, made him feel like he'd failed her.

The sheets rustled as she turned to face him. The look in her eyes stole his breath. It was so full of love and affection, that he couldn't help wondering how he had been so lucky.

And she could read him better than anyone, knew when something was bothering him, even though he tried to hide it.

She took his hand into hers, squeezing it. "I've had concussions before, Kurt." She gave him a soft smile. "You worry too much."

Kurt knew she thought he was overprotective at times, but when it came to the ones he loved, he couldn't help it.

"You're my wife, I'm allowed to worry about you." He cupped her cheek, feeling the warmth of her skin against his palm. It settled the feeling inside him. "I told you to wait for me."

"Someone had to go after him, or we would have lost him," Jane insisted.

"Of course she'd say that." He couldn't help chuckling, as he traced her cheek. "One of the reasons I fell in love with you."

At Jane's puzzled look, he clarified: "Your stubbornness."

Before she could protest, he nuzzled her cheek and went on. "Our first case, right at the beginning, remember? You were so desperate to get answers, stubbornly insisting to go out in the field with us to figure out why you had a tattoo in Chinese. And you were able to convince Mayfair."

Jane smiled shyly, about to interrupt him but he brushed his finger over her lips softly and she allowed him to continue.

Kurt grinned at the memory. "I was dumbfounded. I had never been confronted like that by a subordinate, much less a victim of a case I was working on. You were so stubborn, even when you had no idea who you were." He pressed his forehead against hers, his voice a murmur now. "And I love that about you."

He felt her hand brush his cheek and pulled back. Jane gave him a sly smile. "I'm stubborn? You're one to talk."

"Me, stubborn?" He looked at her innocently. "No, I'm not."

Jane cocked a questioning eyebrow at him.

He laughed, leaning in to kiss her. "Alright, maybe I can be a bit stubborn at times."

She snuggled into his embrace again, yawning. "Maybe that's why we work so well together."

"Yeah. But now, we could both use some sleep," he said, adjusting the covers around them.

"Mmmh. Good night."

"Good night, Jane"
