After that trip to the movies, Max would tag along for several more outings. After some time Halloween came around and Max was invited to a costume party at six the Saturday before.

That Saturday at about four thirty Max rushed home from honest Pete's used cars to prepare for the party. First Max washed up till the scent of grease and used car was throughly removed. Max then got dressed in a sick vampire costume he'd designed over the last week. Finally grabbed his skateboard, rocketed out the door, and took off for the party.

Max arrived at the party right on time and went inside to look for Roxanne. After some searching, Max determined that Roxanne had yet to arrive, and he began to wait. Luckily he didn't have long to miss her as, soon after he'd begun to wait, a metalic blue chevy vega containing pulled up and dropped her off in a stunning Medusa costume.

"Velcome to the spookiest night of your life." Max said as he opened the door for Roxanne. "I hope you aren't too attached to your blood."

"won't have to worry about that if I turn you to stone first." Roxanne giggled out before the two of them had a good laugh.

After the two of them finished laughing, they went inside and shortly thereafter music began playing. Max took Roxanne's hands in his own and the two began to dance. The dance began slow and careful but soon built up as the two got into a flow. Before long they were dominating the dance floor as everything else melted away and for a moment all that mattered was each other and the dance. After some time the two tired and sat down to rest, talk, and snack.

"How about some slurpage for the Vampire and his loovvelyy laadyy." Bobby Zimmeruski said as he brought over a tray with two remaining cups of punch whilst wearing a mummy costume so good he might not have been recognized if his voice and mannerisms hadn't betrayed his identity.

"Don't mind if I do." Max said as he and Roxanne both grabbed one of the last two cups from the tray. After Bobby walked off Max refocused his attention back to Roxanne. "That dance was awesome."

"Yeah. It was great." Roxanne replied between sips of punch.

"I'd never seen you move like that before."

"Well I never knew you were so quick on your feet and nibble all over." She replied before finishing her punch.

"Yeah, we should do that again sometime."

"I guess we should."

"Y'know, you look really beautiful tonight." Max said as he leaned in for a kiss which Roxanne immediately reciprocated. The kiss went on and as it continued Roxanne got uncharacteristically touchy feely. As it continued Roxanne tried to push Max down on the counter and seemed intent on going further when Max pushed her off before exclaiming "What's gotten in to you!" with a look of befuddlement.

As he stared a moment waiting for some sort of explanation he realized she looked just as confused as he was and decided to clarify "Were in the middle of a room full of people.". Max went to take a sip of his, as of yet, untouched punch and realized it had that same fowl undertone that his spiked chocolate milk had and spitting it out. "Sorry for yelling like that. I'm going to quickly get us some refills and cool down then we'll talk."

"Sure thing Maxie. I'll be right here waiting." She replied before breaking into a giggling fit.

Max began to walk away slowly while desperately searching for Stacey. It took a little while but Max finally spotted Stacey in a mummy queen costume. After taking one last glance in Roxanne's direction to make sure she was OK he took off in Stacey's direction.

"Hey Stacey, I think we have a serious problem." Max said without even trying to mask his panic.

"Oh I'm sure it's not that bad. What happened?" She replied entirely unconcerned.

"I think someone put something in Roxanne's and my drink. Just taste this and take a glance at her if you want evidence." Max said as he handed Stacey the spiked punch and gestured toward Roxanne, Who was in the middle of flirting with the stool Max had been sitting on, with his other hand.

"I think I get your point." She said after a small sip of that punch. "What do you need me to do?"

"Please call her father or some other trusted relative to pick her up and take her home." Max answer before darting off to find Bobby. As he looked around he realized that all of the waiting staff were dressed in the same mummy costume. He'd begun to think Bobby had escaped when he heard just a short distance behind himself Bobby's distinct voice and mannerisms saying something stupid. Max charged down Bobby down in a blind rage, and had him pinned to the wall before he knew what was coming for him.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!Aaaaahaha!DON'THURTME!" Exclaimed Bobby about two and a half seconds after he was pinned to the wall in what might be described as the best show of response timing the world had ever seen. "I DON'T KNOW WHO RELIEVED THEMSELVES IN YOUR PUNCH BUT IT WASN'T ME, HONEST."

"Do you mean to tell me someone took a piss in my punch?"

"Wellactuallythatwasjustaguessandattempathumoronmypartsincesomethingthatbadmust'vehappenedtoyouforyoutodirectsuchfuryinmydirection." Bobby speed spoke in a panic.

"Please slowly answer my question. Did you or anyone else tamper with my or Roxanne's drinks?" Max said slowly.

"I didn't think so but looking at you two now it looks like someone, NOT ME, must've." Replied Bobby copying that same slowed talking pattern.

"Do you know who that person could have been!"

"Now that I think about it, I was alerted to your slurpage needs by a pudgy ghost."

"Thank you for your help, sorry for pinning you to the wall, and if I find out it was you I will knock your teeth in." Before leaving to find this "pudgy ghost" and put a stop to his antic. As Max walked around the party he saw a few slim ghosts and he saw a few pudgy kids in other costumes and then he saw PJ in a giant Jack-o-lantern costume.

"Hey Maxie, what's got you down." PJ asked.

"Some fat punk in a ghost costume drugged my girlfriend and tried to drug me." Max replied in a growl.

"That's messed up. Who'd ever do something like that?"

"I don't know but... wait, you got invited to this party?"

"Yeah, just cause you stopped paying attention to me after you got your girlfriend doesn't mean I don't still have a life you know."

"Either way, have you seen a pudgy ghost around here."

"Since he bolted out the door, right before I came in."

"How am I supposed to catch him now and what'll I tell Roxy when she calls tomorrow."

"I don't know what you'll tell her tomorrow though it looks like her dad's here to pick her up, and while I don't know how you'll catch the ghost you won't stand a chance till Monday. You look kinda tired, how about you go home, sleep on this and tell her the truth in the morning."
