"You wanted to see me, sir?" PJ asked cautiously as he nervously entered Max's office.

"Yes, I most certainly did." Max answered with a tinge of irritation in his voice before swiveling his chair around to face PJ then saying "Why do you think it's OK to have three no call no shows in the last two weeks? Do you think that just cause I and Roxy live our own house and I can't breathe down your neck outside of work anymore that you can shirk off your responsibilities?"

"No nonononono it's it's n-n-n-nothing-" PJ started before Max cut him off.

"I don't want excuses! I want you to show up when you're supposed to!"Max shouted as he got right up in PJ's face. "Because of your negligence I had to cut short one of my two days off with my wife to do your job!"

"but but but but-" PJ uselessly stammered out in a futile attempt at speaking.

"If you don't wanna keep making double what you'd make anywhere else you can feel free to seek employment elsewhere but until then you show up in the morning, you sell cars, then you leave in the evening, Wednesday through Sunday! No exceptions!" Max continued as he rifled through a drawer.

"No. sorry sir. I'll uh-"

"What you'll do is sign this writeup, show up when you're supposed to from this day forward, and get back work." Max said in a calmer voice as he gestured at a paper he'd placed on his desk. PJ hurriedly signed the paper and scurried out of Max's office. Once PJ had left Max picked up his phone to make a call.

Rrrrrriiiiing

"This is Pistol Pete speaking. Who is this?"

"It's me Max. Could you get your mother on the line."

"Sure thing." CRASH "Moooom! Max is calling!"

"This is Peg speaking. How can I help you?" Peg asked with just a smidge of irritation in her voice.

"Do you happen to know where PJ was all day Sunday?"

"Wasn't he working for you?" She half answered half asked with an undertone of worry.

"Well that's strange since I found the lot thoroughly closed and had to cut my day off short and this isn't even the first time."

"What?!" She asked now angry before stopping to think it over. After about a half minute she finally spoke back up "I guess that does explain the random pay cut and extra shifts but it doesn't tell where he's been nor why you didn't tell me sooner."

"Pay cuts? Inspite of my better judgment I haven't touch that boys pay nor his hours at all during the last two weeks when this started and they haven't changed since I hired him. Though just wondering how much and how long have I shorted you?"

"It's been up to half his pay since about two weeks after you got married. However you don't need to worry too much about it since strangely enough sales picked up right around the time he started this."

"Sounds like you're going to need a tighter leash on that boy because if he no shows one more time he's fired."
