Transformers Fall of Cybertron: Joining the War.

Chapter 4: Cut and Run.

(Author's notes: Seeing as how Shockwave and all Insecticons are Autobots in this story's timeline, let's just say Shockwave is working diligently for the Autobots from the shadows to produce gigantic quantities of Energon without being detected.

Enjoy chapter 4.)

Jazz carefully descends from the gigantic hole that he and his fellow Autobots blew up due to detecting a faint Autobot distress signal.

Once Jazz makes it to the bottom safely, Cliffjumper contacts his comrade and asks, "Jazz, you alright?"

Jazz replies, "Eh, aren't I always?"

Cliffjumper asks again, "What do you see?"

Jazz replies, "I see a lot of junk, but I can grapple through it pretty easy."

Jazz uses his Energon grappling hook to make himself an entrance in the junk in front of him.

Upon entering the next chamber, Jazz stops as he detects the Autobot distress signal again, only it's stronger this time.

Jazz calls out over the commlink, "Hold on; the signal is really strong now. It might belong to Freakshot."

Cliffjumper asks, "Freakshot? Wasn't he a member of Skyfire's team of Aerialbots? Why would he be down there?"

Jazz approaches where Freakshot is and finds his blaster.

Jazz answers, "I don't know; not sure if he had a choice."

Cliffjumper inquires again, "Why's that?"

Jazz responds with, "Call it a hunch."

Jazz looks to his left and finds Freakshot connected to a makeshift medical bay, being fed Energon to sustain his life functions.

Jazz advises, "Cliffjumper, I've found Freakshot."

Jazz approaches Freakshot's still form.

Cliffjumper asks, "Is he functional?"

Jazz observes the whole makeshift medical bay and answers, "He's pretty messed up, on life support with enough Energon to repair and revive him. There might be a datapad that has his last report on file."

Jazz finds a datapad with an audio transmission and states, "Bingo!"

Jazz plays the transmission, and Grimlock is heard saying, "Stop your whining, Sludge. Those Decepticons took us by surprise."

Slug then states, "Grimlock, we need to call for backup."

Grimlock replies, "There is no need for backup, Slug. Shockwave and his Insecticons are secretly on our side, and Optimus doesn't know about the experiment just yet."

Freakshot then advises, "Even if Optimus knew about the experiment to turn you guys into Dinobots, I don't know if he would've approved or not, as much as the benefits outweigh the disadvantages."

Grimlock states in response, "I could care less, Freakshot."

Suddenly, Swoop calls out through his commlink, "The Decepticons are back, and they're coming in fast! There's too many of them!"

Grimlock calls out in response, "Stand and fight!"

The Lightning Strike Coalition Force and Skyfire's deployment of Aerialbots utter war cries as they charge to battle.

The audio transmission ends.

Jazz asks, "Cliffjumper, you catch any of that?"

Cliffjumper inquires in reply, "You mean the screaming? The horror? Followed by more screaming?"

Jazz replies, "Uh, yeah, that'd be it."

Before Jazz can move on, an Insecticon flies in and switches to robot mode.

Jazz exclaims, "Whoa!"

The Insecticon states, "Easy, soldier. I come on behalf of Shockwave to transport Freakshot to Iacon."

One of Corvowing Prime's clones appears alongside the Insecticon. The Corvowing clone and the Insecticon successfully transports Freakshot and the makeshift medical bay to Autobot Headquarters without being detected by any Decepticons.

Jazz makes his way back to the surface, where Cliffjumper and their team are waiting.

Cliffjumper asks, "Well, what do we do now?"

Jazz replies, "I don't know. Let's ask one of Corvowing's clones."

After finding at least sixteen Corvowing clones among the ranks – the rest of them had returned to Autobot Headquarters – the mission becomes clear: to help Shockwave and Corvowing clone/duplicate gigantic quantities of Energon for the Ark.

The Autobot team progresses to a security access door with an identity scanner.

After being scanned, the door announces, "Access denied!"

Jazz replies, "We'll see about that!"

Jazz grapples the door open, causing the door voice to weakly proclaim, "Access denied!"

The Autobot team makes it to a cliff overlooking a lower platform and an Energon Lake.

Cliffjumper calls out, "Guys, look!"

Jazz remarks, "That lake – it's filled to the brim with raw Energon!"

Jumping down to the lower platform, Cliffjumper states, "Autobots, this could be the last reservoir on the whole planet."

Jazz replies, "And our spies within the Decepticon ranks helped us get it first."

Cliffjumper states, "They're keeping the lake filled with the Energon Corvowing provides!"

Jazz says in response, "Come on, Cliffjumper. We gotta move!"

Jazz grapples himself onto a ledge and Bullbolt helps Cliffjumper up by flying up to the ledge.

Jazz and the entire Autobot team bears witness to Shockwave's Space Bridge Tower opening a portal to the Milky Way Galaxy, as Corvowing and Alpha Trion ordered Shockwave to do.

Jazz remarks, "That's quite a light show for a simple Energon refinery. Maybe there's something more to this place."

After progressing towards a drop leading to a Toxic Energon river, Cliffjumper states, "This place goes on forever."

Bullbolt and the entire Autobot team mutters in agreement.

Jazz replies, "Let's split off again. First one to find the exit wins."

Cliffjumper replies back, "See you on the other side."

As the entire Autobot team goes their separate ways, Jazz grapples to another ledge and equips a Nucleon Charge Sniper Rifle.

Suddenly, a Decepticon Dropship flies in and Jazz quietly calls out over the commlink, "Cliffjumper, Bullbolt, we've got company dropping in."

A deployment of Sharpshooters is deployed.

The leader transforms to sniper mode and says, "Shockwave wants those Autobots found immediately! Sweep the area!"

The lead sniper immediately spots Jazz, causing him to bemoan, "Ahhh, I've been spotted!"

Cliffjumper replies sarcastically over the commlink, "Great! That means they'll be shooting at you and not me or any of the others!"

Jazz retorts, "You're welcome."

Jazz takes down all of the Decepticon Sharpshooters by timing his shots with every time a Sharpshooter flies to a different sniper position.

At the same time, Jazz manages to take down the Decepticon Rocket Troopers littered across the area.

After a minute of sniping some Sharpshooters and Rocket Troopers, Jazz contacts Cliffjumper and asks, "Cliffjumper, I'm surrounded. Do you see an exit?"

Cliffjumper replies, "I see you, and some sort of control booth nearby. Try that."

Jazz enters the control booth and lowers the lever inside it.

Some gears on a machine start spinning, causing Jazz to remark, "That did something."

Suddenly, a broken piece of metal jams the gears.

Cliffjumper asks over the commlink, "Did you learn anything, Jazz?"

Jazz replies, "Ooooooo, I can make a bridge if I drop that rig. But the gears are jammed."

Cliffjumper states, "Figure it out, Sir Rust-A-Lot!"

Bullbolt calls out over the commlink, "Hey! Show some respect for our beloved Saboteur!"

Cliffjumper replies, "What? I said '"Sir."

After a few minutes, Jazz manages to take down all of the Sharpshooters.

After progressing towards a ledge that is as tall as the jammed gears, Jazz manages to grapple the debris free from the gears.

Upon removing the debris from the gears, Jazz immediately turns his attention to more Sharpshooters and more Rocket Troopers.

Blowwar contacts Jazz and says, "Jazz, if you can snipe that chain, you're home free."

Jazz replies, "Hmmm, that's a tough shot, Blowwar."

Cliffjumper responds with, "Come on, even I could do it."

Jazz states, "I'm gonna have to move for a clear shot."

Jazz moves to a different vantage point with a clear view of the chain.

Jazz snipes the chain, and a bridge across the Toxic Energon refinery is made.

Cliffjumper remarks, "See? You made something!"

Jazz retorts, "Yeah, I've been practicing."

Cliffjumper replies, "You can keep practicing on those snipers."

Jazz continues his target practice on the Sharpshooters and the Rocket Troopers.

After dealing with the last Decepticon soldier, Jazz jumps onto the makeshift bridge and grapples the exit door open.

Upon making it to a river of Energon with the exit door at the top, Jazz remarks, "The door is sealed. Don't think my grappling hook is an option."

Cliffjumper replies from the control room, "Let me try a couple of switches here."

Cliffjumper opens the safety staircase and the exit door, only to activate the intruder alarm.

As Jazz goes inside, the automated Teletraan 1 voice calls out, "Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!"

Jazz calls out jokingly, "Cliffjumper! Stay alert! Some intruders got in!"

Cliffjumper replies sarcastically, "I'll keep an optic out."

Upon making the necessary purchases at the Teletraan 1 terminal, Jazz comes across the exit door and Cliffjumper advises, "Careful, Jazz, there's a whole squadron of nasties on the other side of that door."

Jazz replies, "Bet that's what THEY'RE saying to each other right now."

Jazz grapples the door open and immediately goes to work sniping the Rocket Troopers and normal Decepticon Soldiers in the area.

After taking out the initial deployment, Jazz is contacted by Cloudhammer who says, "Jazz! There's a service tunnel on the far side of that canyon! That is, if you can make it without much hassle."

Jazz replies, "Cancel that negativity, Cloudhammer."

Jazz goes to the next vantage point and continues sniping the Decepticon troops.

After taking out the last Decepticon Soldier, Jazz grapples into an exit and asks, "Now, where was that service tunnel?"

Jazz makes it to an armory and grapples the ceiling vent cover, killing the Decepticon Soldier on top of it.

After exiting to a higher level, Jazz sees the entrance to the service tunnel and grapples the door off its hinges.

After grappling into the service tunnel, Jazz hears the P.A. announce, "Maximum security breach!"

Jazz enters the next room and remarks quiet enough for only him to hear, "They're on the hunt alright!"

A Decepticon Soldier calls out, "Keep looking!"

Another Decepticon Soldier calls out, "The Autobots can't hide forever!"

Yet another Soldier says aloud, "Sweep the area! Shockwave will be greatly displeased if we don't find those Autobots!"

Jazz replies quietly, "I'll be none too happy if you do."

Fangtracks contacts Jazz and states, "Keep moving, Jazz. We need to regroup and fast."

Jazz quietly exits the room through the exit door, and continues down the service tunnel.

Once Jazz tries to get across a vent door, the door collapses and drops Jazz into the room below.

Jazz gets back onto his pedes and states, "Scrap! I thought that would hold!"

Cliffjumper remarks, "Your head was too big."

Jazz replies, "Careful! I'm sensitive about my weight!"

Jazz looks to his right and sees Decepticons pouring into the corridors leading to the room.

Jazz exclaims, "Decepticons! On the far side!"

Jazz hides himself as he hears some Decepticons cutting the entrance door open with lasers.

One of the Shotgunners calls out, "Hurry! We got the Autobot trapped!"

Another Shotgunner calls out, "Get that door open!"

As the door creaks in protest, yet another Shotgunner exclaims, "Get ready! Let's take him out!"

The Shotgunners bust the door open and pour into the room, but Jazz quietly takes them out with a silencer added to his Nucleon Charge Sniper Rifle.

After a while of taking out Decepticon Soldiers and Shotgunners, Jazz manages to exit the room.

Jazz gets contacted by Cliffjumper who calls out, "Jazz! We're pinned down!"

Jazz calls out in reply, "Where's all that cloaking swag? And what happened to get everyone in trouble?"

Cliffjumper replies back, "My cloaker jammed on that last hit! And everyone else was spotted the old-fashioned way! Just shoot some 'Cons already!"

Jazz, Cliffjumper and the Autobot team managed to come out on top and nary was a Decepticon troop spared.

Jazz grapples a rusty door off its hinges, goes into the adjoining room, and starts to follow Cliffjumper's trail as fast as he can muster.

Jazz opens the exit door and takes out the Decepticon Soldiers, the Decepticon Sharpshooters and the Decepticon Rocket Troopers with the Autobot team's help.

After the last Rocket Trooper goes offline, Cliffjumper calls out, "That's all of them, Jazz! Can you make it across?"

Jazz replies, "These pipes look pretty rusty. Wait for me while I make a bridge."

Jazz grapples a loose piston out of its restraints and a bridge is made.

Cliffjumper remarks, "That grappling hook comes in pretty handy."

Jazz retorts, "Yeah, I'll remember that the next time you turn invisible instead of fighting like the rest of us."

Stoneblade asks, "Need I remind you that Corvowing Prime and Optimus Prime have unanimously agreed to come up with new methods of fighting Decepticons, including using invisibility?"

Jazz hums in thought as he makes it across the makeshift bridge.

Jazz comes across Corvowing's clones holding the next door open for everyone.

Corvowing's third clone states, "Jazz, we won't be able to hold it for much longer. You'll have to find a different path, hopefully with a light switch because it's dark in there."

Jazz replies, "Got it. I'll try to find the lights."

The door closes and everyone minus Jazz is inside.

Cliffjumper says over the commlink, "We're through. And Corvowing's clone was right; it's dark."

Jazz grapples a rusted vent open and grapples into the vent.

Jazz enters the control booth for the laboratory that his comrades are inside of.

Smokewheels asks, "Jazz? Where are you?"

Jazz answers, "I see you guys. There's a terminal over here – looks like a laboratory of some kind."

Jazz pulls down the lever as he advises, "There. I think I definitely found the lights."

The lights in the laboratory turn on, and everyone can see for themselves Shockwave's cleanest experiments, including mass producing Energon with Matter Duplication ray guns.

The Autobot team moves forward and Jazz finds a map test chamber.

Jazz turns it on and Cliffjumper asks, "Did you find anything?"

Jazz observes the map and answers, "Just some holo map of a distant star system. Hold on – these look like the coordinates for Earth that you found in the map chamber. Is Earth really the planet that Corvowing and the Covenant of Primus foretold that the Great War would continue upon?"

One of Corvowing's clones replies over the commlink, "Yes. Mostly because of the fact that Alpha Trion sent many Iacon relics and confiscated dangerous Decepticon weapons to Earth, in addition to the fact that the planet was previously seeded with Energon. As for who seeded the planet with Energon, we never did manage to find out."

Jazz continues, only to hear Roughstuff angrily stating, "Excuses! That's all I hear, you one-eyed fool! Megatron is gone – I am in charge now!"

Jazz asks, "Is that – Roughstuff?"

Jazz progresses to a ledge where he sees the Autobot spy/scientist Shockwave talking to Roughstuff's hologram.

Cliffjumper remarks quietly, "Well, would you look at that."

Roughstuff's hologram states scoldingly, "You're wasting too much time on your experiments, Shockwave!"

Shockwave replies emotionlessly, "Predictably, you do not understand the true value of this tower. It is the key to unlocking a bridge across space and time itself—"

But Roughstuff interrupts him, "ENOUGH! Pump the lake! Energon cubes don't make themselves!"

Cliffjumper activates his cloaking shield and hides himself behind one of the pillars.

Roughstuff finishes, "Never forget that I am in charge, Shockwave. And I suggest you attend to your visitors."

The hologram disconnects as Shockwave turns around to see the entire Autobot team.

Shockwave remarks, "Welcome, Autobots. You are about to witness Corvowing Prime's triumph as the Autobots prepare to leave for Earth."

The Space Bridge Tower activates a stable portal to the Milky Way Galaxy, and Corvowing's voice is heard saying, "To all Autobots within range of this untraceable signal: we have an open Space Bridge to Earth. The carbon-based one moon planet is rich with raw Energon. I ask you all to join me and Optimus at Iacon for a final boarding call. Prepare to board the Ark. Time is short, and I have a feeling that when Megatron is resurrected, he'll more than likely try to intercept us in a final effort to destroy us. Until we reunite aboard the Ark, may Primus and the Primes watch over you all."

Sideswipe's ship comes onto the scene and Sideswipe says, "All aboard! We're heading to Iacon to board the Ark!"

As the Autobot team boards the dropship, Cliffjumper asks, "What about you, Shockwave?"

Shockwave replies, "I need to guard Cybertron per Corvowing Prime's orders. Especially if there are more Scraplets to kill and any of my experiments needed to be finished thanks to the gigantic quantities of Energon in my establishment of laboratories. You go on ahead without me, but don't worry; I will join you on Earth when Corvowing calls me."

The dropship leaves and Shockwave makes an untraceable call to Corvowing Prime.

Shockwave states, "Shockwave to Corvowing Prime. I've successfully opened a Space Bridge to the Milky Way Galaxy. The portal is stabilized, and ready for the Ark to initiate transportation."

Corvowing replies, "Excellent work, Shockwave. The Ark's fueling is now completed. We'll be launching for the portal shortly, and I want you to stay behind to manage things on this end."

Shockwave replies back, "Understood, sir. Shockwave out."

And everyone was thankful that the Ark could hold that many passengers.

At the same time, Corvowing had over nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand versillion, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolsolperplex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolcoperplex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolsophoplex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googondoldecex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googoldecex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolquintex, nine hundred and ninety-nine googolquardex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolthrex, nine hundred and ninety-nine googoldex, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googolplex, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand centillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand skewer's number, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand googol, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand duotrigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand untrigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand trigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand nonvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand octovigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand sepvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand sexvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quinvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quattuorvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand trevigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand duovigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand unvigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand vigintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand novemdecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand octodecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand septemdecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand sexdecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quindecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quattuordecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand tredecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand duodecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand undecillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand decillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand nonillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand octillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand septillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand sextillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quintillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand quadrillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand trillion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand billion, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand million, nine hundred thousand and ninety-nine, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine Autobots remaining behind on Cybertron to protect the planet from Scraplets and from any remaining Decepticons that stayed behind if the Nemesis were to launch.

But to keep things playing in a sort of chronological/non-chronological order, Corvowing had a refinery transport carting a gigantic supply of Energon to Iacon.

Thankfully, the refinery transport was not Broadside whatsoever.

In the meantime, Metroplex initiated city mode once again and re-entered stasis lock to conserve his own Energon.

Soon, the Ark launched, and made it through the Space Bridge portal safe and sound.

But unbeknownst to everyone except for Corvowing, Soundwave had been witnessing the whole thing from his own laboratory, and was not happy that the Autobots took advantage of Shockwave's good work to flee like cowards. So, Soundwave made sure that reviving Megatron was a number one priority.

The End.

(Author's notes: Yeah, I just had to make the chapter end like this, especially because of the fact that Shockwave and the Insecticons are Autobots in this current timeline.

Also, in case you're wondering, the same things that happened in the chronological video game will still happen, thanks to clones of the various Autobots and thanks to Shockwave continuing his undercover spy work.

See you all in chapter 5: Death from Above.)
