Transformers Fall of Cybertron: Joining the Exodus.

Chapter 7: Combaticons Combine!

(Author's notes: In this chapter, Bruticus will have to contend with Roughpick, an Autobot combiner inspired by the Robots In Disguise 2001 Ruination, but in the colors of the Dark Of The Moon Icepick, the Generation 2 Silverbolt, the Power Core Combiners Grimstone, the Transformers Generation 1 Holepunch, and the Generation 1 Mindwipe. Roughpick's components are Silveratron, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Mega-Octane in the paint jobs from the Generation 1 Silverbolt and the RID 2001 Megatron and Galvatron. Grimtwin, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Movor in the paint jobs from Sinnertwin, Grimlock, Grimstone and Grimwing. Menscreen, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Ro-Tor in the paint jobs from the Cybertron Menasor and the Generation 1 Smokescreen. Holegrabber, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Rollbar in the paint jobs from Holepunch and Roadgrabber. And Mind Strip, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Armorhide in the colors of Mindwipe and Drag Strip. BUT, am I going to kill off an Autobot combiner who looks like the combiner mode of the RID 2001 Decepticon Commandos? Absolutely not. Besides, I have plans for Roughpick to continue showing up at some point in the future.

Swindle manages to land on a balcony overlooking the skies outside of the flying Autobot refinery transport.

Onslaught calls out over the commlink, "Swindle, take down those anti-aircraft guns! I need to bring the dropship closer!"

Swindle replies, "I'm on it, Onslaught!"

Swindle grapples onto a higher platform and fires on the thruster mechanism behind the steel sheet.

The thruster deactivates.

Swindle remarks, "That'll slow it down!"

Swindle grapples across the gap and then grapples onto the upper level leading to another section of the transport.

Swindle quietly takes down one of the Autobot Soldiers, and then takes out the other ones.

After taking out the last Autobot Soldier, Swindle states, "Ooohhhh! That alarm is driving me crazy!"

Swindle finds the alarm mechanism and destroys it.

Swindle states again, "Much better!"

Swindle grapples to the upper level and tangos with some Autobot Shotgunners.

After killing the last Shotgunner, Swindle goes over to a door and places a Detpack on it.

Stepping back, Swindle allows the Detpack to detonate.

Swindle goes through the exit just before the flames can bubble his paint job or the top layer of his metal armored body.

Onslaught states over the commlink, "Swindle, you should be able to reach the anti-aircraft cannons from the catwalks along the outside of the transport."

Swindle replies, "I'll get those guns offline!"

Swindle grapples along the catwalks until he finds the appropriate upper level.

Swindle asks, "Onslaught, I've got a question! If the transport can fly, why didn't it just do that to begin with?"

Onslaught replies, "It probably takes up a lot of Energon to make that hunk of junk be able to fly."

Swindle replies back, "Really? Because if one were to calculate its total mass and—"

But Onslaught interrupts him by saying, "Focus, Swindle! We'll worry about the statistics later."

Just then, Roughstuff calls out, "Decepticons! This is Roughstuff! The mission is lost! Abort! Abort!"

Onslaught replies, "Abort?! You've got to be kidding, Lord Roughstuff! It's only a matter of time before we bring down the transport!"

Swindle gets to a chasm with a release mechanism for a bridge.

Swindle uses his grappling hook on the mechanism and the bridge deploys long enough for Swindle to get across.

Swindle takes out the Autobot Soldiers, Rocket Troopers and Shotgunners positioned at the first anti-aircraft cannon.

Swindle approaches the lever for lowering the shields protecting the doors to the cannon shells and pulls down on the lever.

The shields retract and more Autobots arrive.

After killing the last Autobot troop, Swindle uses his grappling hook to open the exterior doors to the cannon shells and shoots all of the shells.

Swindle manages to get it done in rapid succession.

Swindle is contacted by Onslaught who asks, "Swindle, did you get the first anti-aircraft cannon yet?"

Swindle replies, "Yes, I did, Onslaught. I'm heading around the back to hit the other one."

Swindle makes his way to another chasm and uses his grappling hook to jump from one platform to another.

Swindle gets to the big heaters, switches to vehicle mode and waits for the heaters to cool down.

With a well-timed boost from his nitro boosters, Swindle manages to get past the heaters without getting heat by the exhaust flames.

Swindle sees an upper level to grapple onto, transforms to robot mode, and grapples while asking Onslaught, "Seriously? We're still trying to board this thing with dropships? I haven't even stopped the anti-aircraft gun yet!"

Onslaught replies, "Think of this as an encouragement to HURRY THE SCRAP UP!"

Swindle hauls assets to the level with the final cannon by usage of his grappling hook.

Swindle hides himself behind a wall and sees some Autobots sabotaging the second lever for the shells of the second cannon.

An Autobot Soldier calls out, "Disable the shield controls!"

Swindle contacts Onslaught and exclaims loud enough for only the two Combaticons to hear, "Onslaught! The Autobots are sabotaging the shield coupling!"

Onslaught replies, "I took into consideration that they might try that! We're already on our way, Swindle!"

Swindle takes out the Autobot troops stationed at the cannon and scans the sabotage damage to the shield coupling controls.

Swindle states over the commlink, "Those shield controls look fried! We need another way to break through the shielding! Any ideas, Onslaught?"

The Combaticon dropship comes into view as Onslaught replies, "Jump onto the dropship and bot the turret! Let's see the anti-aircraft cannon hold up to THAT!"

Swindle replies back, "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!"

Swindle grapples onto dropship and mans the rocket turret.

Swindle takes the first shots as Onslaught calls out, "Swindle, take out that gun now before it takes US out!"

The anti-aircraft cannon fires back, only to somewhat graze the dropship.

Swindle cries out, "Yowch! Gotta get that fixed!"

After about a minute of dodging cannon fire and shooting the anti-aircraft cannon, the cannon itself blows up with one final shot from the dropship's rocket turret.

Swindle remarks, "Now we're talking!"

The dropship gets into position as Swindle jumps back down to the platform.

The dropship's doors open to reveal Onslaught as he calls out, "We need to take control of this ship! Combaticons, combine into Bruticus!"

Onslaught jumps from the dropship and transforms to vehicle mode, immediately followed by Brawl.

Swindle gets into position in vehicle mode, and transforms to leg mode, followed by Brawl as he lands.

Onslaught transforms to torso mode and connects with the two legs of the combiner as Bruticus' head reveals itself.

And finally, Blast Off connects with the right arm socket and transforms into Bruticus' right arm, followed by Vortex as he becomes Bruticus' left arm.

Bruticus' back-mounted cannons emerge as he straightens himself.

Every Autobot in the vicinity is horrified, especially as Bruticus rumbles, "Bruticus online! Ready for action!"

An Autobot Soldier calls out, "Commandos! Combine into Roughpick!"

The five Autobot Commandos – Silveratron, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Mega-Octane in the paint jobs from the Generation 1 Silverbolt and the RID 2001 Megatron and Galvatron, becomes the torso of Roughpick. Grimtwin, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Movor in the paint jobs from Sinnertwin, Grimlock, Grimstone and Grimwing, becomes the right arm of Roughpick. Menscreen, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Ro-Tor in the paint jobs from the Cybertron Menasor and the Generation 1 Smokescreen, becomes the left arm. Holegrabber, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Rollbar in the paint jobs from Holepunch and Roadgrabber, becomes the right leg of the combiner. And Mind Strip, who's inspired by the RID 2001 Armorhide in the colors of Mindwipe and Drag Strip, becomes the left leg of Roughpick.

Grimtwin and Menscreen connect to the arm sockets, followed by Roughpick's chestplate, followed by Holegrabber and Mind Strip connecting to the leg sockets. Roughpick's head reveals itself to complete the combiner mode of the five Autobot Commandos.

If Corvowing Prime was there, he would remark to himself that the whole thing was like the Robots in Disguise 2001 Ruination entering his Flight Combiner Mode, similar to the current Bruticus and the Generation 1 Bruticus.

Bruticus remains slack-jawed despite wearing a battle mask.

Roughpick rumbles, "Roughpick online! Prepared for battle!"

Bruticus and Roughpick charge each other and grasp servos in a draw of strength.

Bruticus and Roughpick eventually punched each other in the faceplate.

Bruticus tries to punch Roughpick in the faceplate again, only for the Autobot combiner to throw him over his shoulders to the platforms for the smaller Autobots.

After about five minutes, Bruticus manages to win despite taking somewhat heavy damage.

Roughpick takes off in flight and retreats to Corvowing's abandoned headquarters.

Bruticus remarks, "Now, that was fun! It's nice to actually fight someone my own size and strength besides Ruination!"

The remaining Autobots decide to hold the line, but were ultimately crushed by the Decepticon combiner in different ways.

Bruticus makes his way to the turbine and uses his Sonic Pain Wave ability to heavily damage the turbine.

As the turbine prepares to explode, Bruticus remarks, "Huh. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea."

The turbine explodes, and Bruticus proceeds to the control room.

After taking out the remaining Autobots and the turrets defending the control room, Bruticus approaches the door and remarks again, "Knock knock!"

Bruticus uses his rotor-blade shield from Vortex's helicopter blades to slice the door open.

As the door crumbles, Bruticus disassembles back into the Combaticons and they neutralize the last remaining Autobots inside the control room.

As the Combaticons make their way to the front of the control room, Roughstuff contacts them and asks, "Combaticons, I told you to abort! The mission is lost! Who are you to deft ME?!"

Onslaught turns off his commlink and grumbles, "I've heard enough of his orders."

Suddenly, the transport starts to descend because the turbine was destroyed by Bruticus.

Brawl calls out, "We're going down!"

Onslaught advises, "Vortex, Blast Off, grab hold of the flight controls!"

Vortex replies, "The engines are shot, Onslaught! The best we can manage is a controlled crash!"

Onslaught replies back, "Then manage it!"

Blast Off calls out, "We're too steep! Pull up!"

Vortex replies, "I'm trying!"

Onslaught advises, "Brace yourselves!"

The transport makes a controlled crash, disabling it and destroying only half of the Energon supply despite the Energon supply being planet-sized.

As the Combaticons exit the transport, they encounter Roughstuff as he remarks, "Congratulations, Onslaught! As a result of your failure to obey my orders, you and your Combaticons destroyed half of the Energon supply in that crash!"

Onslaught replies, "Are you kidding, Roughstuff?! The Autobots would've taken it all! MY team salvaged an operation that YOU screwed up from the get-go because you ignored my warnings and Blast Off's warnings about the anti-aircraft guns!"

Roughstuff replies back, "No one addresses the leader of the Decepticons in such a manner!" He turns to his two bodyguards and finishes with, "Arrest them!"

The two bodyguards overpower the Combaticons and restrain them as they wait for a dropship to transport them back to Kaon.

The End.

(Author's notes: In the next chapter, Megatron will literally punish Roughstuff for his failure and betrayal with TWO tank cannon shots to his chestplate instead of one.

See you all in chapter 8: Megatron Returns.)
