Corvowing and his army of Autobots are preparing to use his foreknowledge of the Fall of Cybertron video game to make sure that some things are changed. With Shockwave and the Insecticons as Autobots in this timeline, it's only a matter of time before the Ark leaves Cybertron. Will Corvowing's efforts ensure the arrival to Earth? Rated T. 8. Megatron Returns

Chapter 8: Megatron Returns.

(Author's notes: In this chapter, there'll be a moment where Shockwave mentally wonders if he should warn his new fellow Autobots about Megatron's return. Will he do it, though? We'll find out.

In Soundwave's workshop, Soundwave is silently grumbling to himself over Roughstuff's latest stunt just because he chose not to listen to Onslaught and Blast Off about the transport's anti-aircraft guns.

Soundwave mentally decides that enough was enough: his number one priority was to resurrect Megatron so he can take back leadership of the Decepticons and put Roughstuff in his place.

Then, the same Decepticons that arrested the Combaticons entered Soundwave's laboratory carrying an Autobot corpse and an Autobot arm.

One of the Decepticons asks, "Look at this. What is this place?"

His companion answers, "Soundwave's old workshop. Just dump your trash anywhere; he doesn't care."

The first Decepticon Soldier notices Roughstuff on the monitor and remarks, "Uh-oh, he's starting."

His companion replies, "We better get moving."

The first Decepticon Soldier replies back as they leave, "Yeah, I'm in no hurry to please Roughstuff. So far, his leadership has been a complete disaster."

Soundwave immediately transforms from boombox mode to robot mode as Roughstuff starts his propaganda-based monologue.

Soundwave deploys Laserbeak from his chestplate as he states, "Laserbeak, eject. Operation: Retrieve TechVolt Emitter."

Laserbeak retrieves an EDK TechVolt Emitter from a dead Autobot Soldier and gives it to Soundwave.

Soundwave blasts electricity at the power terminals for his project to revive Megatron.

The light turns on and Soundwave remarks emotionlessly, "Controls are now available for limb attachment sequence."

Soundwave manages to attach Megatron's arms to their sockets while making sure to do so when the Energon cycle is at its peak.

After finishing the first part of resurrecting his master, Soundwave deploys Rumble from his chestplate and says, "Rumble, eject."

Rumble comes across a hole small enough for him to get through blocked by Autobot parts.

Rumble remarks, "Get ready to crumble... before RUMBLE!"

Rumble punches the ground hard enough for the parts to move out of his way by simply falling.

As Rumble rummages around the place for Megatron's head, Soundwave states, "Operation: brain module fusion."

Rumble remarks, "Ahh – you believe this?"

Rumble appears again from above, holding Megatron's head in his left pile driver clawed hand.

Rumble states boredly, "Here, boss."

The claw arm grabber grabs Megatron's head and slowly connects it to the neck socket as Soundwave announces, "Commence welding sequence."

Megatron's head is successfully connected to the neck socket and Soundwave fires a large stream of Dark Energon-infused electricity at Megatron's inert body frame.

Soundwave finishes and declares, "Commencing Dark Energon infusion in 3, 2, 1."

From Megatron's view, Soundwave's voice is heard faintly saying, "Balancing auditory sensors."

Megatron successfully reactivates and Soundwave finishes, "Optic circuits online."

Megatron asks, "Where... am I?"

Soundwave answers, "Kaon. My lab near the gladiator arenas."

Megatron inquires again, "Where is Roughstuff?"

Soundwave points to the monitor and Megatron looks at Roughstuff on the monitor as he remarks, "Decepticons! A new age is among us! Gone are the failures of Megatron!"

Megatron screams, "RRRAAAGGGGGHHHHH! Enjoy your brief respite as leader of the Decepticons – it will not last!"

Megatron rips himself free from Soundwave's machinery and roars in fury, causing the purple parts of his armor to briefly glow in response to his anger.

Megatron states more calmly, "Rejoice, my Decepticons! Victory is nearly ours! Soundwave, rally Shockwave and the other loyalists – I have a speech of my own to give."

Soundwave replies, "As you command, Lord Megatron."

Megatron is given a Riot Cannon as Rumble briefly explains, "We gathered as much of your original parts as we could, but the damages were quite severe."

Megatron calmly nods in understanding as he takes the Riot Cannon and attaches it to his right arm.

Megatron fires a shot from his new weapon at the locked door.

Megatron saunters out of the lab and passes some Autobot prisoners who make utterances of, "That's-that's Megatron!" "He's back! How did he come back?" and "We've got to alert Optimus and Corvowing!"

As Megatron enters the next room, Soundwave says over the commlink, "I took the liberty of enhancing your original design."

Megatron replies, "Never improve upon perfection, Soundwave."

Megatron uses his new Hover-Slam ability to get to the upper level and continue onward.

As Megatron progresses, Soundwave contacts him again and advises, "Megatron, I have contacted Shockwave. He and the others will meet you in the arena. I said for them to wait for your signal since we don't need any more loss of troops if Roughstuff's loyalists and ours kill each other."

Megatron replies, "Excellent. And good call on the waiting for my signal part."

Megatron eventually reaches the lift taking him to the arenas as Roughstuff says over the P.A., "Concerns have been expressed over our Energon stores of late. But I assure you, for those who are loyal to ME, it will last. Your allegiance to ME will ensure you an eternal supply of Energon!"

Megatron gets onto the lift and is taken to the gladiator arenas.

Roughstuff growls, "RRRR. Who dares to disrupt my coronation?!"

Megatron replies, "Coronation, Roughstuff? This is bad comedy!"

Roughstuff cries out in recognition, "Megatron?!"

Roughstuff takes Starscream's trademark Decepticon Crown of Leadership, puts it on his head, and calls out, "Decepticons, I am your true leader now! And I order you to attack Megatron! NOW!"

Several Decepticon Soldiers make remarks of, "That's Megatron!" "But he was crushed!" "Where did he come from?" "He looks even more menacing than before!" and "Megatron is alive!"

Megatron activates his Hover-Slam ability and slams into the first batch of Roughstuff's loyalists, completely blowing them up.

Roughstuff states as he gets surrounded by a metal force field, "Your improbable resurrection is already too late! The Decepticon army is now loyal to ME! The Reign of Roughstuff has begun!"

Megatron sneers in response, "And now, it will end!"

Roughstuff calls out, "Destroy him!"

Megatron plows through the deployment of Soldiers with ease.

A Decepticon Soldier calls out, "He's unstoppable!"

Megatron calls out in response, "You are all unfit to be called Decepticons!"

Another Decepticon Soldier cries out, "For Roughstuff!"

Megatron remarks, "You dare to attack me?! Martyr as many of your fools as you wish, Roughstuff! I'm just breaking in my new systems!"

Roughstuff calls out, "Attack! ATTACK!"

Another Decepticon Soldier shouts, "Come on! You heard Roughstuff!"

Megatron sneers, "Yes, come! There is no greater honor than to fall at the hands of a king!"

Megatron is attacked by a deployment of Shotgunners loyal to Roughstuff.

Megatron easily demolishes them.

Suddenly, Megatron is attacked by a deployment of Sharpshooters.

He easily destroys them as he says, "You forget, Roughstuff, it was in THIS very gladitorial arena I proved myself worthy to lead the Decepticons!"

Roughstuff replies, "That day has long passed, Megatron!"

Megatron replies, "That day will live forever!"

Then, a deployment of Leapers comes in as one of them remarks, "Let's see if your armor is as strong as your words, Megatron!"

Despite being outnumbered and outclassed in terms of armor durability, Megatron triumphed and Roughstuff's force field lowers itself.

Roughstuff snarls, "Cowards! Is there really no one left to challenge this-this pretender to the throne?!"

Megatron switches to his newly-designed tank mode and remarks, "Roughstuff! Your mockery of a reign is over!"

Megatron blasts his treacherous lieutenant with two blasts from his tank cannon.

Roughstuff's chestplate is heavily damaged, his crown is knocked off his head without being destroyed, and the Roughstuff statue behind him is crumbled to pieces.

Roughstuff sneers, "You will pay for this, Megatron!"

Roughstuff transforms to his jet mode and blasts off.

Onslaught is released from his restraints and his Combaticons are freed.

Onslaught asks eagerly, "Lord Megatron, do you want us to chase him down and finish him off?"

Megatron retracts his Riot Cannon and answers, "He's not worth the time. Roughstuff's penchant for self-worship has severely drained our Energon supply."

Onslaught inquires again, "What's the new plan, sir?"

Megatron calmly replies, "Before my botched attack on Autobot City, Shockwave informed me of a discovery in the Sea of Rust. He is on his way now to report."

Onslaught replies back, "Yes, Lord Megatron."

As Megatron's new statue comes in flying thanks to Tipnose, Silvercruncher, Vortex and Blast Off, Megatron calls out, "Decepticons! MEGATRON has RETURNED!"

Megatron's statue is released gently onto the ground as the newly-resurrected Decepticon leader marches over to Shockwave.

Megatron orders, "Shockwave, report!"

Shockwave replies, "All hail Megatron! I built a replica of the tower I found in the Sea of Rust. The ancients used it to open gateways to distant galaxies high above Cybertron's orbit."

Megatron remarks, "Excellent. I assume you have already found a suitable planet with resources to plunder?"

Shockwave replies again, "Affirmative. The planet is primitive, but rich with raw energy sources and rich with raw Energon. All that we require now is a space transport with a strong enough power core to fly us there."

Megatron states in response, "I'll handle that. Shockwave, ready your tower. We leave NOW!"

Megatron enters the dropship and the dropship flies off.

Shockwave marches away and mentally grumbles, "I got to warn Optimus Prime and Corvowing Prime."

Meanwhile, in Iacon, Megatron is contacted by Onslaught aboard the dropship as the Combaticon leader asks, "Where are we headed, Megatron?"

Megatron answers, "The crater where Trypticon crashed when he fell from orbit."

Onslaught inquires worriedly, "You think that monster is still functional?"

Megatron retorts, "I care not. His power core is what I need."

Suddenly, the dropship rocks itself as its barraged with gunfire.

A Decepticon Soldier cries out, "Megatron! We're taking heavy fire! We're—"

Megatron prepares his Riot Cannon and calls out, "Brace for impact!"

Megatron blasts the vent door off with a shot.
