AFTER THE CHAOS

JAIME LANNISTER

He stands over the dead bodies of Sers Gregor Clegane and Armory Lorch. Armory has a single spear wound to the chest, but Gregor's face is burned and he has multiple stab wounds, one in the foot, one on each side of his neck, one under the chin, and one on each side of the head. "Someone fast and deadly did this to the Mountain." Jaime says.

"Lord Jaime your father and Lord Robert are looking for you." A guard says.

Jaime makes his way to the throne room where most of the Lords are gathered. Robert Baratheon, Eddard Stark, Jon Arryn, Hoster Tully, and Jaime's father Tywin Lannister stand together talking. "Ah the Kingslayer." Robert says. "Did you find the Queen, her brat or the Princess and her spawns?" Robert asks.

"We searched everywhere the Queen and her son are gone. So is Princess Elia and her children."

"One of the servants told me that the Queen was heavy pregnant with child…" Tywin says speaking up, "Elia has a small babe as well. They couldn't have gotten far."

"Haven't you had enough bloodshed?" Lord Stark asks.

"I would think you would not want the Targaryens to live Lord Stark." Tywin replies, "Especially after what they did to your father and brother."

"The Mad King did that and he is dead…Queen Rhaella, Princess Elia and their children have done me no wrong."

"Ned I love ya like a brother, but I will not rest until all the Targaryens are dead like Rhaegar!"

He shakes his head, "Storm's End is under siege. As we discussed I am leaving to relieve the siege."

Later Jaime finds his Uncle Kevan Lannister in the barracks of the City Watch. He is using the Barracks as a base for the Lannister troops. "Uncle Kevan!"

"Jaime! Good to see you my boy."

"How is Tyrion?"

"Fine he gave me this letter to give to you."

Jaime takes the letter and reads it in silence. He smiles every now and then as he reads, "How is Aunt Genna?"

"Fine she sends her love."

"I heard your wife just had a son for you."

"We named him Lancel."

"And Cersei?"

"She is fine as well. Sends her love."

"I have missed you all."

"There is a rumor going around that you killed the Mad King."

"All true I'm afraid…Kingslayer they call me."

"Well in my book you did the world a great service, when you killed that madman."

A few days later Jaime is summoned by his father, who informs him that Robert will be King and intends to make him one of his King's Guard along with Ser Barristan. Of, course Jaime accepts against his father's wishes.

Later Jaime stands at attention as Ser Barristan Selmy joins him, "The King has named me Lord Commander."

"Congratulations Ser Barristan."

"It is up to you and me to fill the ranks of the King's Guard."

"We can search for guards from among those that fought on the Trident." Ser Barristan chooses Ser Boros Blount; his family fought against the Targaryens. Mandon Moore is suggested by Jaime Lannister. Preston Greenfield, Ser Meryn Trant, and Ser Arys Oakheart make up the rest of the group. After a meeting with the new Hand of the King Ser Barristan meets with the guard. "Lady Cersei Lannister is on her way here to marry King Robert. Ser Oakheart and I. will ride out to escort her back here. Until I return Ser Jaime is in charge."
