Chapter 5: Flight of the Iron Spider
"You're welcome, New York! Thanks to the tireless efforts of Daily Bugle Communications, led by yours truly, James Jonah Jameson, a certain bug-eyed, wall-crawling menace will now think twice before he shows his face in my city again!" Just as Jameson says this, a green blast hits the screen three times while trying to hit a certain superhero.
"Aye my boy, I appreciate you for destroying that screen. He was gettin' on my nerves too!" Spidey says as he swings away from the villain quickly. "You can't outrun pure light!" Says the green villain who was blasting him. "I'm not running away, I'm SWINGING away. You really don't have the smarts do ya'?" Spider-Man starts yelping in pain as the bad guy blasts Spidey three times across his suit, showing three cuts in his suit.
"Just a matter of time before you're toasted!" Spider-Man swings on top of a building then jumps away. "Man, I spent all day sewin' this costume last time, bruh." The villain then flies up to Spider-Man as fast as he can and punches him down waiting to be caught. "I got him!" Says a certain buff hero. He catches him and smiles. "Sup? Need some help?" White Tiger shows up with the rest of the team.
"Maybe we can take this one down without tearing up the city?" Spider-Man shrugs his shoulders. "No promises. Put me down, Tiny." Power Man drops Spidey and places his hands on his hips. "That's Power Man to you, Web-Head!" The villain made of pure light flies himself down to the ground, causing the road to shatter a little. "Anyone read the Wiki on Bad 80's Light Show Guy?" Nova says nervously.
"Phil had said that his real name is Arthur Parks. But now he calls himself The Living Laser. His body is also made of photons." This leaves Nova confused. "He's made of what now?" Spidey rolls his eyes. "Photons. Meaning he can-" Before Spider-Man could finish, The Living Laser starts to get bigger. Nova's jaw drops to the ground. "Meaning he could do that." Spider-Man finishes.
The Living Laser points his giant green hands at the team, but is defeated by a strong blue repulsor blast, causing him to go away. Spider-Man jumps on top of a traffic light. "Yeah, you better not come back either!" Spidey turns around to see his team staring at him. "I know I ain't do nothin', but you ain't gotta stare at ya boy." The team hears a sonic boom in the sky and look up to see what it is.
They look up to see a figure in red and gold armor flying down to the ground. When they get a full image of who it is, they recognize it was the one and only… "IRON MAN! OH, THIS IS SO COOL!" Nick Fury then shows up and starts talking to Iron Man. "What y'all think they talkin' bout'? Spidey asks curiously. "Probably some national security issues."
White Tiger answers. "So that was last night. The night before, it was February's cover of Model Monthly." Tony Stark brags. "Are you done bragging about your social life?" Nick Fury glares at Tony.
"The Living Laser is one of your sparring partners, and if you'll notice, my team found him first." Tony rolls his eyes. "Sparring partner? Uh. A bit of an exaggeration." Nick starts to get angry. "Now look, I've got a thing, so uh, can we-", "I'll bet you do, Mr. Celebrity Superhero." Fury interrupts. Tony gets a little annoyed.
"Hey, he saw me and he ran. He'll be back. If he ever shows his face again, I'll have developed something that'll find and contain him."
Spider-Man walks up to them. "Just trace the photon pattern. It's gotta be specific to em', unique in the spectrum." Tony is impressed. "Smart kid. Bad fashion sense. Maybe with a little guidance-", "Never mind him, Stark. I don't need you and your cowboy complex infecting him with delusions of-", "Infecting him? Look at him. Clearly he needs it." Iron finishes. Spider-Man is completely spaced out, imagining what it would be like to be by Tony Stark's side.
"What is your deal?" White Tiger knocks him back into the real world. "Huh? What you talkin' bout'?" The team facepalms. "Okay, guys. I'm out of here." Tony starts talking to Spidey. "Hey, kid. I like your style. Wardrobe notwithstanding. How about you visit the plant on Saturday. Maybe I can help you out." Tony flips his iron mask back on and flies away. The team looks astonished. "Okay, I'll admit, that is cool." Power Man says.
Nick Fury turns to the team. "Just get your sorry butts back to the Hellicarrier." The team leaves while Nick points his finger at Spider-Man. "You, stay away from him." Spider-Man nods his head.
Time Skip: Saturday at Stark Industries
Spidey and Tony walk through the doors. "This is the most highly classified section of the factory. This is where dreams become reality." Spidey's eyes widen in amazement. "Awesome!" Spider-Man and Tony continue walking, but Spidey stops when he sees a robot looking at him. He hops on one leg and the robot does the same.
"Now that is one of the rawest things I've seen in my life. Teach that thing how to dance and you will forever have my respect." Spidey says referring to the scientist working on the robot.
"Hey, kid, over here." Tony says waves his hand back and forth, telling him to come here. Spidey walks to Tony as he pulls up a holographic image of something. "This signal ratio accelerator is going to revolutionize telecommunications as we know it." Spidey looks confused and tilts his head. "So… better coverage on my phone? I like it."
They both continue walking as Spidey sees someone with a metal hand on. The scientist presses a button on the hand as a holographic version of it shows up. He uses the hologram hand to punch a small metal wall and breaks it. Spidey screams as he has never seen anything this cool. "I gotta tell Danny bout' this."
Spider-Man catches up to Tony as he sees something in front of him. "Check it out. A molecular disruption chamber. Don't go in there when it's hot." Spidey turns to Stark curiously. "What it's gon' do?" Tony answers his question. "Unless you fine-tune the frequency, it'll scatter you into multiple, parallel dimensions."
"That's not creepy at all…" Spidey says sarcastically. "Listen, I know Fury is training you, trying to bring you up to his level. Personally, I think you should aim higher." Spider-Man is confused on how he knew that. "Come on, kid. My company built the Hellicarrier." Tony says. "I ain't never thought that you and Nick would work together, after seein' y'all argue." Tony chuckles and looks at Spidey.
"You get along with the people you work with?" Spidey scratches the back of his head. "That's fair." Tony starts walking to a vault as it starts to open. "Anyway, if you really wanna pick up your game, I had an hour to kill so I came up with this." The lights turn on in the vault and Spidey is amazed at what he saw in the vault. "No…freaking…way. WHEN CAN I TAKE IT?!"
At the Hellicarrier
"We waitin'?" Power Man asks. "For Bug Boy? Why?" Nova asks. "Patience is a virtue." Iron Fist says wisely. "So is punctuality. Spider-Man's late. We train without him." White Tiger says as they start training. "He'll show. He always does." Power Man says he rips the arms off four robots. "I think you're confusing showing up with showing off. Obviously, there's no Spider-Man in team." Tiger says jumping away from robots. "Back to why I should be team leader." Nova says flying away from the drones chasing him.
"A man cannot lead before he's found himself." Iron Fist says as he punches robots with is glowing fist. "Well, I'm right here wrecking major havoc all over the place." Nova says as he destroys the drones chasing him. "It's wreaking havoc- Never mind." The side of the training room wall blows up as they see Spider-Man flying with red and gold armor. "So, what'd I miss?"
1 week later
The team is sitting at a table looking at Spider-Man in his iron suit. "What is y'all mad for? I've been rockin' the crime in this city, man. This suit is our problem solver, bruh." Spidey smiles behind his mask when the team walks out to talk to Nick Fury. "It ain't workin' out, boss. He's addicted to that suit." Power Man says. "He's totally throwing off our rhythm in the field!" White Tiger complains. An alarm goes off when they see The Living Laser in the streets. "All right, you guys are going in." Nick tells them.
"What about Spider-Man?" White Tiger asks, hoping only they go into the field. "I'm only sending you." In the city, the team minus Spider-Man confronts Laser in the streets. "We're going to make this easy on you, laser brain. Give it up before we short circuit you." Just as Nova says this, Spider-Man lands in front of them. Tiger's eyes widen. "What is he doing here?!"
The Living Laser tilts his head, confused on what he just saw. "And what're you supposed to be?" Spider-Man turns around to look at The Living Laser.
"Man, you know who I be. I'm just ya friendly neighborhood Iron Spider!" The Living Laser then smiles sinisterly. "Didn't you learn anything the last time? You can't stop me." Iron Spider starts to get a little cockier than he already is. "Bro, I've got Stark Tech right now. I'm gonna bea-AH!"
Interrupting Spidey's sentence, three iron spider legs come out the back of his armor. "Hey, maybe you should hang back til' you got your learner's permit for that thing." Power Man says, moving an arm away from him. Spidey pulls the arms back in the suit and crosses his arms. "You jealous?" Iron Spider smirks. "Nah, I'm actually scared for my life."
As they are talking, The Living Laser blasts Spidey into the streets, causing all the citizens to scream in fear and run away. "You reek of his arrogance… You're clearly a Stark sycophant!" Iron Spider starts to get up. "Too bad for you. I don't even know what that means!" Spidey starts to fly towards him but starts turning in a different direction.
"WAIT YA STUPID SUIT, THE WALKING LAMP IS THAT WAY!" Spidey crashes into a billboard as his team facepalms. The billboard falls to the ground and the team runs to Spidey. "The road to enlightenment can be a painful one." Iron Fist says. "I'm good, man. I can keep fighting." Nova walks up to him. "Nope, you had your shot. I'll handle this."
Nova flies toward The Living Laser only to get blasted next to Iron Spider. "Wow… Nicely handled." Nova growls at Spidey in irritation. "I'm just gettin' started." Nova starts to blasts The Living Laser with a blue beam. "That tickles. You've got a lot to learn about energy." The Living Laser turns around and escapes quickly, causing the team to stare at Spidey.
"Uh…good job?" Spidey says, nervously. "Face it, Junior Stark, in that suit, you suck!" Nova says as the team walks away from him. "You can't even control that thing, Khalil!" White Tiger says. "What is you talkin' bout'? He ain't even touch me." Iron Spider says. "He ain't have to, KJ. You're your own worst enemy in that suit." Power Man says.
"Y'all don't get it, do you? Stark built this suit for me!" Nova turns away from him. "You sure picked him over us in a hurry, didn't you?" White Tiger walks up to Spidey. "Don't come near us again if you're just gonna be a screw-up. Until then, WE DON'T NEED YOU!" Spidey expected to hear this from someone like, Nova, but he never expected White Tiger to say this to him.
Spidey turns in the opposite direction of them and walks away, and the team does the same. Just as Spidey is walking, he suddenly stops. "Huh? I can't move!" Spidey is stung by green electricity as he sees The Living Laser as a hologram in his suit. "Aye, man, how are you controlling suit?!" The Living Laser only chuckles. "I'm living energy, and your suit runs on energy. Do the math."
The suit starts to fly away slowly, only to speed up continuously. "I HATE MAAATTHH!" In the sky, Iron Man is flying around, looking for The Living Laser. When he get down into the city, Iron Spider goes through a window, crashing into him. Iron Man goes up to him. "What're you doing, kid?" Iron Man asks. "He took control of the suit!" Iron Spider starts to fly away from Iron Man as he chases him.
"You don't have the IQ points to breach that armors security, Living Laser." Iron Man says. Iron Spider then stops, charging at Iron Man. "Ready for round 2, Stark?" The Living Laser says through the suit. Iron Spider and Iron Man clash beams, causing a huge explosion. Once the smoke clears up, Iron Man rapidly punches Iron Spider as they land on a building.
"Stark, I hope you realize you're hitting me!" Iron Spider says. "I'm trying to run down his power. Trust me, kid, this hurts you a lot more than it hurts me." Spidey looks at him in confusion. "YA THINK?!" Spidey exclaims. "Here's the deal. You shut down your armor's high level security functions, or I heat up this armor from the inside and cook this kid alive!"
Iron Man gets off Iron Spider. "Wait, you ain't gotta do that Tony!" Iron Spider says. "Accessing Iron Man security systems. Voice command: Section eight. Firewalls are downs." Iron Man pulls up his mask. "Do your worst, Arthur." Iron Spider gets up and punches him to the ground. "Hey, that ain't fair!" The Living Laser chuckles at Spidey. "Don't worry, kid. He's only napping."
Spidey is confused on where he heard his voice. "Where you at?" Spidey asks as he can freely move his body. "I moved to a better neighborhood." The Living Laser says as Iron Man's suit starts to fly away. "NO!"
At the S.H.I.E.L.D Hellicarrier, Khalil is experimenting on his helmet for some reason, then his team comes behind him. "What're you doing?" Ava asks. "Improving. Why do you care?" Khalil asks. "We heard what happened with Iron Man." Luke says as he crosses his arms. "Makin' up for it now. I'm goin' to save him."
Luke and Danny only look at each other. "I used the suit to hack into Stark's factory security systems since I couldn't do it myself. Laser got control of his suit and he took over the place." Ava's eyes widen. "Did you tell Fury?" Khalil only stays quiet in response. "Well, that's all the talkin' we finna do. I'm goin' alone." Khalil says as he grabs the helmet and heads for the door.
Just as he is about to leave, the team gets in front of him. "Get outta my way, and that's the only time I'm gonna say it." Khalil says in irritation. "Hey, man. You ain't goin' alone. We're in this together." Luke says. "We'd never let you do anything alone, KJ." Ava says with a smile. Khalil smiles back at her in a funny way. "You really wanna get with me foreal."
Ava blushes and turns away from him. "Alright. Let's go squad!"
Stark Industries
"This is an egregious security breach. These designs are classified." JARVIS says, talking to The Living Laser. "I'm in charge now and I'm gonna make a fortune selling Stark's technology."
"KIYAH!"
The wall breaks down when The Living Laser sees Iron Fist with his glowing fist. "Knock knock."
Nova, Power Man, and White Tiger then appear behind him ready to fight. "Think you've got what it takes to defeat Iron Man? Would you kill Stark to do it?" Laser says as Tony is still unconscious in the suit. He then sees the ceiling break as Spider-Man lands with the Iron Spider suit on. "Alright Laser, it's time to…um?"
Spidey turns back to his team. "Hey, do y'all know any energy jokes?" The team shakes their heads. "Alright, well hold on."
Freeze Frame Starts
Spider-Man: Hey author!
Author (Me): Wait, what? Spider-Man, what is you doin'?
Spider-Man: I need ya help to figure out an energy joke.
Author (Me): You tellin' me that you breakin' the fourth wall so I can help you figure out a joke?
Spider-Man: Yes! This is an emergency!
Author (Me): Mane, if you don't get outta here you fake Deadpool.
Spider-Man: Fake Deadpool?! How dare you! Deadpool is a fake version of me!
Author (Me): JUST GET OUTTA HERE!
Spider-Man: WAIT, I AIN'T DONE YET-
Freeze Frame Ends
Finally, I can narrate again. And I'm pretty sure that Laser is about to barbeque Spidey.
"Wait, he is?" Iron Spider says in confusion. The Living Laser then fires energy blasts at Spidey, but he dodges all of them. "Gotta find out how to wake up Stark." Spidey says as Power Man charges at The Living Laser.
"Callin' up Iron Man armor detail." Iron Spider then looks at the armors details and sees something. "Security Failsafe? I don't know what that is, but it sounds useful. Computer." JARVIS then connects to the suit and talks to Spidey. "Young man, that is an electrical charge that can be delivered directly into Mister Stark's brain. A defibrillator for his entire nervous system. I do not recommend this option." JARVIS says. "We ain't got no other options so how I'm supposed to do this?"
"Downloading remote activation codes to your CPU now."
Iron Spider lands in front of Laser as he stops fighting the team. "You again? You're starting to get on my nerves, child!"
"Abracadabra!"
Iron Spider snaps his fingers in a joking manner as Iron Man's suit is struck with green electricity. Inside the suit, Tony finally wakes up. "No! What did you do?!" The suit starts firing beams at Spidey uncontrollably. "UM, STARK?! CAN YOU TAKE CONTROL AGAIN?!" Tony realizes this and starts reinstalling his armor security.
"I hate to break it to you Laser, but I don't share my personal space with anyone that hasn't strutted down a catwalk. So that means you're out!" Laser then flies out of the suit in anger. "How dare you!" Laser shouts, angrily.
"I see your fashion sense has jumped. Wanna help me clean up?"
"A'ight bet. I think I know how we gon' do it." Spidey says, referring to the molecular disruption chamber Tony showed him, and remembering not to go in when it's hot. "Good idea, kid. Let's finish this."
Spidey and Iron Man both shoot repulsor blasts at Laser, making him get bigger. "You can't fight me with energy. I AM ENERGY!" Laser starts pointing at Stark. "That armor is the key to controlling Stark Industries. And I want it back." Tony starts chuckling. "By all means, come and get it." Stark flies out through the roof and Laser follows. The team runs to Spidey.
"Nice work. Now, how can we help him?" Power Man asks. "I know how. Follow me." The teams starts running behind Spidey to the molecular disruption chamber. Once they get there, Tony calls Spidey from the suit. "You there, kiddo?" Tony asks. "I'm here. You headed for the thing and Laser right behind ya."
"What thing?" Nova asks.
"The thing! The thing that does the thing!"
Iron Man is still flying away from Laser, when he sees that he's close. "I'm almost there. Keep tracking my signal, when I'm clear, fire it up." Spidey's eyes widen. "Wait, me? I don't know how to use this thing." Iron Man chuckles. "You'll be fine, I believe in you, kid. You can do it." Iron Man flies into the building and goes into the chamber. "Almost there, almost there…" When Stark gets out of the chamber with Laser still in it, he gives the signal, only yelling, "NOW!" Spidey pulls the lever and Laser cries out in pain as his photonic structure is disrupted, expanding it across several dimensions, no longer letting him control his physical form. Iron Spider jumps up in the air when he didn't mess up. "YEAH, I DID IT! I'M TOO RAW!"
Stark lands next to the team as Nova is left confused. "So, where do you think he ended up?" Spidey and Stark only look at each other, shrugging their shoulders. "All I know, is that we ain't gotta worry bout' him trying to barbeque us anymore. I prefer fried chicken." Everybody starts laughing at Spidey's remark as they begin to walk away, prepared for their next battle.
