Chapter 1
Once upon a time there was a family of four with two daughters, they owned a big land that was lifted by the fathers mother who sadly died of cancer, before the kids were born. The parents met in college back in there teens, there names were Chase and Lucia they got married a couple of years later and had two daughters.
Couple of years later, the parents went out for dinner but sadly on the way home there was an accident, a drunk driver who crushed into them, before the ambulance arrived, Chase died on seen while on the way to the hospital Lucia died. The next morning while the two girls were getting ready for school there was a knock on the door so the grandma goes to open it to find two police officers, to tell her the bad news about the accident.
The day of the funeral, grandma Maria was getting the girls ready to say there final goodbye, the daughters Lillie and Chloe didn't know what their life's was going to be like, without there loving parents.
At the funeral Grandma said some loving words about her daughter Lucia and son-in-law Chase while Lillie and Chloe was holding each other crying there hearts out, after Grandma said her lovely speech they all began to leave the church and head home.
That night grandma was putting the girls to bed telling them a story about when there mum was little "you two are a lot like your mum when she was little girl, Lillie and Chloe you got your mummy beautiful eyes and lovely smiles", now sleep tight my little angels, grandma love you both". While the girls are sleeping Grandma looking at old photos and decided to raise the girls in the family home.
It been a couple of years, the girls decided to carry on there parents dreams, Lillie took over their mother's wildlife sanctuary while Chloe took over their fathers farm. Later on that day the girls were busy trying to get the sanctuary and the farm back on track, Grandma was at home getting dinner ready to take to the girls. Grandma needed to have a word with the girls as she is getting on a bit now and somethings are hard to do. "Girls we need to have a chat" the girls both looked at each other and through what's going on, so Grandma started to explained what she feels about retirement.
"Grandma what are you saying" said Lillie then Chloe said "I've been noticing you are finding cooking and cleaning a bit hard now nanny", grandma replied with "I know you girls can do this, over the years I've watch you two grow into wonderful lady's, and it's my time to retire", Lillie and Chloe looked at each other and Said " okay Grandma we support your decision, we will be here just like how you was for us when we needed you the most". Grandma was overwound how her girls were growing up and their parents couldn't be more proud of them.
Later on that day Grandma was setting in her chair knitting a away while Lillie was getting dinner on and Chloe was chilling with Grandma in the living room, at this point Lillie came in and mention about getting a family pet. Grandma thought that was a good idea and wanted to get a cat so she can have someone to give her cuddles when the girls are at work, Lillie had a phone call about a injured animal need medical help so Lillie rush into work to fine out that the animal was an injured kitten who got abandoned By the mother, so Lillie through it was a perfect gift for grandma.
On the way home Lillie call Chloe and told her about the kitten, she thought it would be a nice surprise For Grandma and Chloe agreed, about 20 minutes later Lillie got home with the kitten and headed straight to Grandma, Lillie told Grandma to close your eyes and put your arms out then Chloe please the little kitten in Grandmas arms "now you can open your eyes". So Grandma opened her eyes to find a cute little kitten she was in love and couldn't stop thanking the girls.
The next day Grandma was in the living room feeding the kitten and trying to think of a name for the little one, then she came up with the name Smokey as she was white and grey, Chloe came home early from the farm, then make some lunch for Grandma and Smokey as Lillie was at work all day. Chloe phoned her sister to check in but Lillie was busy dealing with a emergency, so Chloe thought she would go and give a helping hand with everything she can while Grandma was busy with Smokey.
While Chloe was getting ready to leave the house, Grandma was putting some lunch in a bag for Lillie it takes Chloe about 10 minutes to drive to the sanctuary. While Chloe just arrived she saw how busy Lillie was and jumped right in to help with the phones and organising appointments for the clients, as Chloe had experience with office work.
About a hour later Chloe had the front desk and the appointment books all sort so she went in the back to see if Lillie needed anything done and then saw Lillie working with a gorgeous Saint Bernard who was in a bad shape, after he was treated Chloe decided to take him home and named him Beethoven.
Couple days after, Lillie was finishing a task at the sanctuary when suddenly a herd of rabbits escape from there hutch "oh no, not again" Lillie signed chasing after them, then out of nowhere a white dog came and save the rabbits and herd them back not their hutch.
"Wow" Lillie was impressed with how this stray dog handle the situation, "thank you your my little angel" while kissing the dog head, she then lock up the hutch and headed to her car but she felt someone was following her, she turn round a saw the white stray and said "do you wanna come home with me" then the dog bark and Lillie open the car door and the dog jump right in.
While driving home she thought of a name to Called her new stray " how about angel" she said out loud then the dog bark and then she knew that the name she going with " angel is it then" she giggled, they both headed home to tell Chloe and grandma the newest member of our family, angel gave lillie the look saying I'll pick you, they both knew that they were meant to be together lillie also found her best friend.
When they got home Lillie introduce angel to Chloe and grandma and told them the story of what happen, "wow" said Chloe and then Beethoven and Smokey came running to see what all the noise was about, then they both saw angel and accepted her into the family.
The next day Chloe and Beethoven were heading to the farm to feed the animals and get some paper work done, as they got to the farm Chloe noticed that the sheep has got out of the field by the gate, Chloe shouted "NO NO NO not this, I got enough to do as it is" then out of no where Beethoven starting to run after the sheep and begin to bring them all back in the field and Chloe was shocked as she didn't tell him to do so he done it on his own. She couldn't believe her eyes and after Beethoven done his amazing job, Chloe called him over and gave him a big kiss and telling him what a good boy he was. After all the sheep was back in their field Chloe closed the gate and checked why it was open in the first place, then she noticed there was nothing was wrong with the gate someone just didn't close it possibly, once Chloe closed the gate she went and got the food sorted for stable hand to feed the animals so Chloe can get all the paper work done.
After a busy day on the farm Chloe and Beethoven was sitting in one of the field looking at the wonderful view, Chloe sign "Beethoven you and me will always be together and I love you buddy" and then Beethoven looked right in Chloe's eyes and gave her a big wet kiss. From then on Beethoven done everything with Chloe, he was always by her side.
Chloe and Beethoven jump into the car and went to collect dinner for grandma and Lillie, so they can have a family evening.
The next morning Lillie and Chloe surprised Grandma with a day out, they decided to take her to the zoo and then go for dinner as the three of them. Grandma replied "oh yes let's go to the zoo we haven't been there since you two was little, it would be nice to spend the day together", Chloe agreed with Grandma. About a hour later Grandma and the girls was getting into the car and about to head off, Lillie was driving as Chloe cannot drive at the moment because she had a fall earlier at the farm, she was in the field with the cows when the accident happened, there was a hole by the feeder that she didn't see and before she went to put food in, her feet slipped and she fell backwards. Beethoven help Chloe walk back home while Lillie put some ice on her ankle to help it heal.
Meanwhile in the afternoon, Lillie found a parking spot near the entrance of the zoo so it was easy for grandma to walk while Chloe went to buy the tickets.
They went to the big cat exhibits first like cheetah, tigers, lions, then grandma sigh happily "your parents love bringing you girls here when you was little" Lillie and Chloe smile at the thought, then Lillie saw the kangaroo exhibit and had a memory of her father holding her while feeding the wallaby.
"Look daddy a kangaroo" said little Lillie, chase laugh "that a wallaby sweetie, do you want to go and feed them?" Little Lillie shouted yes while jumping up and down, chase picks up Lillie and start to walk toward the wallaby exhibit.
While they was feeding them, one of the wallaby came up to Lillie and look down there was a baby to shy to come out, so Lillie held out her hands and the baby slowly came out and eat some food, both Lillie and chase will never forget that day they spend together like father and daughter.
The girls and grandma was walking around the exhibits until Chloe saw the otters and had a memory of her mother holding her while looking at the otters.
"Look mummy otters" said little Chloe, Lucia giggle "do you want to go and see them sweetie?" little Chloe was smiling while jumping up and down, Lucia picks up Chloe and start to walk towards them, while they was watching them, an otter was floating by and look up at Chloe and held out its paws, she saw two babies attached, She held out her hands and then the two babies climb of their mama and climb on Chloe hands and give her a little nuzzle, Lucia and Chloe will never forget that day they spend together like mother and daughter, that evening Grandma and the girl was setting in front of the fire having a nice cup of tea, Chloe "oh my ankle is killing me but it was so worth it today was the best day we had in a long time". Lillie agree with Chloe.
Couple of days later, Chloe was working hard on the farm feeding the animals while she was doing that, she didn't see this young man one up behind her, Chloe jumped "oh you scared me, this is private property" and ask the young man nicely to leave.
"I apologise if I scared you, but you look familiar have we met before? My name is oscar Walters" Chloe had a good look at this very handsome young man, "my name is Chloe winter, I think we went to the same school or something, I can't remember".
The name oscar Walters sound familiar to Chloe, she knew him from somewhere but where, then she remember it was at high school, "I can't believe it's you oscar, how you been?" "oh not bad thank you Chloe" then oscar look down and said "I'm very sorry to hear about your parents, I bet that was hard to go through at a young age".
Then Chloe sign "it wasn't easy, but me and Lillie had our grandma to help us over the years, I've been busy getting this farm back on track and trying to find time for myself it's not easy", oscar smile at Chloe 'she been through a lot and yet she still fighting' he thought.
"Well if your not doing anything tonight, I would love to invite you to dinner" oscar blushed "if you didn't know back in high school, I'll had a big crush on you and I still do" with a smile, Chloe look into his eyes and she knew she didn't need to think about it, "I would love to" oscar smile giving her a kiss on her hand.
"Here is my number, I will give you a call in the morning" she blushed and nodded, while waving goodbye to oscar, Chloe was so excited she couldn't wait to tell Lillie about her date with a handsome young man.
Meanwhile Chloe was over thinking her date with Oscar and what she was gonna say to him, she started to practice in the bathroom mirror, 'hello Oscar its me Chloe you know its me you saw me earlier', "no Chloe you can think better then that", 'hey dude how you doin', "come on Chloe this isn't some guy you met, this is the guy you had a crush on for years, so man up" she thought of his eyes then she got all dreamily and space out.
What she didn't know was that grandma was walking by, she stop and heard Chloe talking to herself, she knock on the door "sweetie its late are you alright in there?" "I couldn't sleep grandma, not much stuff on my mind" so she thought of an idea to help "how does a cup of tea sound" Chloe smile they both went to the kitchen and enjoy each other company, once they sat down grandma said something that shocked Chloe.
"Who this guy your going on a date with sweetie?" Chloe blushed "he name is Oscar Walters, we went to high school together" she looked down "he ask me out earlier grandma, I said yes to him but I'm having second thoughts" grandma looked into Chloe eyes and she knew what she was going through, "I don't want to embarrass myself grandma, got any advice" grandma held her hands and said "sweetie you have been through a lot of pain in your life, you deserve to be happy and if this guy makes you happy then go for it" Chloe smile "thanks grandma, I don't know what I'll do without you and Lillie support" they both hug and then grandma yawn "how about we both try and get some sleep" Chloe nodded "goodnight grandma" "goodnight sweetie" and after that they went to bed.
Lillie and Angel was busy cleaning the sanctuary, when suddenly a young man came running "excuse me miss, can you help me" Lillie looked in his arms and there was an injured fox pup "I found this little guy on a road, He look like his needed help" Lillie took hold of the pup and look at Angel "can you grab my medical bag from inside please" she ran to fetch the bag, Lillie look back at the young man "no need to worry, he gonna be just fine" the young man smile as a relief "thank goodness".
While Lillie was treating the fox pup, the young man stay behind and watch, 'have I meet this girl before, she looks so familiar' he thought then Lillie came out of the room with a smile "I'll stitch him up, he be heal in no time". The young man smile but his mind was somewhere else, "thank you...I'm sorry I didn't get your name" "I'm Lillie winter" "Lillie" he said quietly 'was that the girl I'll had a crush on back in high school' he thought, she giggle 'yep that her' with a smile he introduced himself "I'm Joey Beatles, you probably don't remember me, I use to stand up for you in high school'.
Back in high school Lillie use to spend her free in the garden talking to the animals and she got bullied for it until Joel came to protect her, ever since he had a crush on her.
Lillie blushed "Joey is that really you, it's been so long, so much has happened" Joey smile then he look down "I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your parents" Lillie smile a little "it okey me and Chloe had our grandma to look after us" Joey knew talking about her parents was making her sad.
So he thought of something to Cheer her up, "if you and your family need anything let me know and I'll be here before you know it" Lillie giggle "thank you Joey that means a lot" they both stared at each other and blushed, "would you like to catch up over dinner sometime?" Lillie didn't need to think about it she nodded, "here my number, call me" she said with a wink, "I'll sure will" Joey winked back, Lillie laugh while waving goodbye to Joey and walk back home with Angel, she cant wait to tell grandma about what happen today.
That evening Lillie got home and made herself a cup of tea while humming a song, grandma came down and heard some singing in the kitchen, she open the door with a smirk "someone had a good day" Lillie jumped holding a hand to her chest "grandma you scared me", "sorry dear I heard you was singing and that means you had a good day right" Lillie looked confused 'how did she know that'.
Grandma smile "you always sing your heart out when you was happy, just like your mother did" Lillie smile "well I met this guy today, he bought in an injury fox pup and we talk for a bit afterwards" grandma was listening while making a cup of tea "what his name darling" "his name is Joey Beatles, we haven't seen each other since high school".
Grandma look into Lillie eyes "was that the boy who protected you from bullies" Lillie nodded "darling if he makes you happy then why don't you go for it, you deserve some happiness in your life, your parents didn't want you to be in pain anymore, they wanted you to be happy again" Lillie had a tear in her eye after hearing this, so grandma pull her into a hug "don't worry dear me and Chloe are always here for you" Lillie smile "thank you grandma I'll needed to hear that" then grandma look at the time "lets head to bed and talk in the morning" Lillie yawn and nodded "goodnight grandma" "goodnight darling".
