"So, Kozume-san," she emphasized, "What brings you here?" She took off her shoes at the entrance way, making him move a bit to the side for her to pass him.

"Saito-sensei told me to bring some documents."

"Eh? Ayumi didn't bring them?"

"Sensei forgot to give them, so he asked me to do it."

"Ah, I see…"

He was only a few inches taller than her but, after stepping into the hallway she towered him. This allowed him to get a good look at her.

She looked healthy enough. Her complexion wasn't pale and there weren't any visible wounds or ailments.

Perhaps, she'd be able to go to school tomorrow.

"Well, thanks for delivering them." She smiled again.

Even now her gaze still met his. Usually, when others talked to him, he felt invisible. Like, they weren't really looking at him.

But those light blue eyes were looking at him directly, piercing him.

He couldn't help but look away. "I-It's nothing."

Her gaze didn't feel malicious like the ones Ijimeru and his friends would often send him. Yet, he felt a prickling feeling in his chest.

"Get home safe, okay?" That was his prompt to leave, so he finally put on his shoes.

He took one last look. She was still there, politely smiling and waving at him, to wait for him to leave.

He was about to until something inclined him to say something.

What could he say?

"..."

He said the first thing on his mind.

"Good luck, on studying for the math test on Monday."

"Eh?" The look on her face quickly changed, as her eyes bulged out.

Shoot, did he mess up?!

Wasn't that a normal thing to say to a classmate?

He heard several of his classmates saying that to each other when test days were near.

"Wh-when?" Her voice was soft.

"N-next week Monday…"

Why was she so off put about it?

"Isn't it supposed to be English?"

"No, English is on the 28th…" From his words Kagome paled.

"I, I messed up on the dates…" She collapsed to the floor.

"Ha, I memorized all those words for nothing…" She laughed to herself before scratching her head wildly.

"I'M SCREWED!"

There had to be something he could do. He felt that he was a bit at fault to her current distress.

He rummaged through his bag. "Here." She looked at him questionly by tilting her head cutely.

"Notes, for the math test."

"..."

"You can give them back after copying them. I'm already done prepping."

"!"

He couldn't help but stumble back a bit from the way she quickly sprung up from his words.

Then, her face faltered once she scanned the papers.

It couldn't be his handwriting. He always made sure to rewrite his notes in order for them to be easier to review over.

Did she perhaps not understand how to do the problems?

"I could help you." He thought little of the words since surely, her friends would help her.

"Really?! Like tutoring?" Her eyes were practically sparkling.

He couldn't back out now.

"Sure…"

"!"

Once again she shocked him by wrapping her hands over his.

"Thank you very much Kozume-san!"

Eh?

The smile on her face was incomparable with the ones she showed him earlier.

She was starting to look more like her old self with the way her face kept showing different expressions.

He could feel the heat rising to his face. "Mmmhmm!" He nodded in reply.

She let go off his hands. "Then, I'll copy these down for now and see what portions I understand since it's late."

It was almost dinner time and they did have school tomorrow.

"See you, tomorrow!"

He never thought he'd see the day where she'd say that to him.

"See you, tomorrow…"

Once he stepped out the night breeze greeted him, but strangely he didn't feel cold. Contrarily, he felt warm all over.

He took the train home.

"Ping!" A text message popped out, interrupting his game.

"Thanks for the notes :)"

Before he could reply another popped up.

"And remember to save my number."

He sent a short reply.

"I will."

That he quickly did.

Kagome had been the one to bring up that they should swap numbers. So if she had any problems she could contact him.

"Yo, Kenma!" Waiting on his doorsteps was Kuroo.

Ugh, he should have expected that.

"Why are you making a face at me when I waited for you to get home?!"

"Actually," the tone of his voice shifted, "What I should be asking is how did it go?"

"What, go?"

Dang it, it was coming.

A playful smirk was on his friend's face. "Going to a guuuuuurrrl's house~!" His eyebrows wiggled.

And there it was…

"Nothing much happened." From the face Kuroo was making he wasn't buying it so he continued. "I just gave the documents and left."

"Then why'd you just get home?"

"Her house is far."

Her place was near the school which would take them a while on the train to get to. So he wasn't lying, technically.

But now that he thought of it, his adventure to the Higurashi residence was...not how he expected it to be. Her family for one were an interesting bunch, especially her grandfather.

He also didn't expect to see her since she was supposedly sickly. Yet, she looked healthy.

Now that he thought about it….

Why was she wearing their school uniform to the hospital?

"Kenma!" Kuroo's pestering stir him away from his thoughts.

"If nothing happened, then why were you smiling at your phone earlier?"

Shoot, what should he say…

"..."

"It was...a good gacha roll."

He hesitated!

"Ken-"

His stomach's growling interrupted Kuroo.

"Sorry Kuroo, can we talk tomorrow? I'm hungry."

Kuroo's eyebrows were furrowed, he wanted to continue their talk.

Then on cue his stomach growled again.

"Sure, go." He grumbled.

Now, he had tomorrow to prepare how'd he answer his questions.

Tomorrow, she'd be at school also.
